Not sure why but as a long time viewer this second channel is giving me crazy nostalgia vibes for the early Harshly Critical days. Thank you so much it's bringing me so much joy!
You pausing and tilting your head in thought before accepting that Todd didn't do enough on his drawing of gumshoe gooper to violate the content infringement was so funny LOL
Move over, “Champion of Light”, “The Chowder Man” is the new catchiest tune in town. I am having such a hard time imaging Doug playing this LOL next SpineChill will be interesting for sure.
Your reactions to The Chowder Man and Zane's pages had me smiling so hard my face hurt. The music in this game has an incredible amount of love and care put in, I'd say it's on par with the writing of the characters themselves. I can't wait for you to hear some more of it. I happily await the next episode!
I ended up taking a 30min nap while listening to this and I woke up laughing because John was targeting the viruses and Sherri. I was rooting for John in my sleep and found amusement in him going after them. "Busted!!! Busted!" Made me laugh so hard, I woke up.
Holy crap, I can't believe you're playing this. This was one of the strangest, most intriguing games I had played in a while when it dropped. Never finished it, but it lives in my head rent free. Any 30 something should immediately become giddy seeing some of the Geocities vibes.
Hope this comment section will be nicer on you than some of the last few games! the game style is just awesome, it's giving me flashbacks with all the obnoxious animations :D
I’ve never played this game, but I enjoyed the weird nostalgia trip and the fact that John’s natural paranoia about the internet stopped him from clicking on anything and everything in sight and progressing. I also can’t help but think that Doug is going to HATE this game when it comes to book club…
48:30 Professor Helper almost claimed another victim 😂 love the videos John, and I've been enjoying this one too! I love the art design that went into this game, really hits old entertainment-education games with the tutorial and old internet sites
the soft "oh nooo" when you saw zane's page killed me. his self insert comic kind of reminds me of spike from BtVS lol. the actions in asterisks and the music autoplaying on the page.... ah, it really takes me back. the pokemon gazette story was really cute though, 'letters to the editor' aside haha. that's so much work to put in on a hobby as a kid. were the articles news about the pokemon games? in-universe pokemon articles?
God, the videos at the beginning reminded me so much of an interactive encyclopaedia programme we had on Windows 95, I think it was? It had the same pixelated/low-res little video clips. This takes me back xD
The spammy internet vibes are giving me so much childhood nostalgia, I love it! 😂I also loved seeing the relatable horror of trying to quickly cancel a download for a sketchy plugin. I'm looking forward to more good times with this!
So I got the game to play on my own. Watched the intro company ad video and realized there was a strange stuffed toy that looked familiar. Come to find out, one of the game devs created Dropsy! The toy looked familiar but damn! It was a Dropsy doll!
I really hope you enjoy/enjoyed this game dude. Genuinely one of my favorite game experiences in recent years. So unique, soo good. And the sequel is in the works!!
the silly retro music and visuals really tickle something in my brain, and knowing this playthru is for his podcast kinda adds to the immersion of office worker john lol this is gonna be fun
Been looking forward to this! Nice recommendation from Sinow. I love the little dropsy plush in the intro video to hypno space. We get to see John be an internet mod lol. Its always fun seeing games about old internet. Use to love exploring portals and such. Would download a lot of things too. A cool thing this game does as well, like you can customize your UI and stuff. Its honestly a bit funny to hear how John was similar to Zane lol. Though i used to draw comics too with friends and teachers staring in them. One of my teachers actually liked one that he thought was funny. I did get in trouble for like having a comic taped to a wall once.
This is such a great game, it does a great job at recreating that early internet vibe. Some friendly advice, look through as many of the pages as you can, lots of fun stuff is off the beaten path and hypno cure is a good investment early on
So glad you're playing this game! You might very well realize this in subsequent play sessions but as a tip, this game kind of requires you to take your time reading through the text (and looking for links, specially hidden ones) , I think if you try to just skim through stuff you'll end up a bit lost in the long-run and having a bit of trouble completing certain missions. It ends up taking a little while to complete due to that but I hope you still enjoy your experience!
I love that the music is clearly inspired by faith no more 😆. It's so nostalgic, I used to have a website back in the day too. The gaming book club is a cool idea.
This whole vibe makes me feel like a kid again. But recently, there have been a few dark games with this older style, according to what I’ve seen in recent months on Game Theory, so I can’t shake the anticipation of atrocious lore. Is this a dystopian world? Will we need to fight against the power or come out of our isolation to find that everyone hates us? I’m excited! It’s similar to Welcome to the Game but still sufficiently different, which is nice.
I'm so glad you're playing this one, it really goes places and it seems like you're having a great time with it so far B) I love the amount of effort they put into the visuals and audio to make it look as authentically Old Computer Style as they possibly could. And like... just seeing this game really does a good job to like remind just how vast the styles of games really are in like how even something that looks like this is also a game. A really good one to check out to broaden someone's perspective of games, I think
This is one of my favorite games ever made, the world Jay Tholen has created with this, Slayers X, and the upcoming Dreamsettler just hits that nostalgia niche so hard. I hope you enjoy it! You're about my age, so you should be just as familiar with this Era as I was lol
Love this game and loved this video! Thanks for playing John. My only tip for enjoying this game is don't be afraid to soak in the pages. Hope you enjoy it!
This is not at all what I thought it would be (in a good way!), and I'm enjoying it SO much, it's the best of what I liked about the Welcome to the Game, and it has a very fun look and design! Really enjoying John's reactions to the things in the game (reporting all the first-graders and cackling over it lmao), it's very silly and fun.
The unprompted confession of your Pokémon Gazette bullying was genuinely so funny
I love that it was unprompted but also he sounded so pressed about "Well if you must know". lol.
Games like this make me feel like we are all in the computer room in school browsing the computer together
Not sure why but as a long time viewer this second channel is giving me crazy nostalgia vibes for the early Harshly Critical days. Thank you so much it's bringing me so much joy!
Same, I have been loving the direction John has taken this channel in! Reminds me of the old long plays
Same 😊
Same!
One thing that def gives me early HC vibes are the thumbnails 😂
I feel it's because we were drawn to these long play throughs initially and now it's so good to see them back, I need them to fall asleep to lol
I like how John was so stunned by I Am The Chowder Man that he could only sit in silence.
aw, i thought he was enjoying basking in the sheer testosterone!
“We're reporting all those first graders!" John's videos continues to be so entertaining haha
You pausing and tilting your head in thought before accepting that Todd didn't do enough on his drawing of gumshoe gooper to violate the content infringement was so funny LOL
“Welcome to the real world, JACKASS” killed me 😂
Dropsy is one of my favourite play throughs of John’s. John’s reaction to the twerking scene lives rent free in my head.
Who wouldve thought watching John click through dozens of pages trying to figure out where to go would be so entertaining lol
Just came from the shareholders meeting-- I can't wait to finish this play through!
Move over, “Champion of Light”, “The Chowder Man” is the new catchiest tune in town.
I am having such a hard time imaging Doug playing this LOL next SpineChill will be interesting for sure.
Some of my favorite tunes are the Frost Punk remixes
The 'that's good enough' in the background was brilliant at 5:16 😂
The board members are pleased with productivity Mr. Wolfe. Keep up the good work!
Teenage John the pokemon magazine editor is my favorite bit of John Wolfe lore
Once the e-mails start coming in and Professor Helper pop-ups with his bullshit, this game becomes complete chaos and I am in love with it
Your reactions to The Chowder Man and Zane's pages had me smiling so hard my face hurt. The music in this game has an incredible amount of love and care put in, I'd say it's on par with the writing of the characters themselves. I can't wait for you to hear some more of it. This visual is so funny to me lmaooo
@@pinsandneedles3 It was indeed. I believe I'm going to enjoy this series of Hypnospace Outlaw
Holy crap, I can't believe you're playing this. This was one of the strangest, most intriguing games I had played in a while when it dropped. Never finished it, but it lives in my head rent free. Any 30 something should immediately become giddy seeing some of the Geocities vibes.
I love the idea of a video game "book club" and knowing it's for Spine Chill makes me look forward to the podcast episodes even more
dropsy reference!! your dropsy letsplay was my favorite thing i love going back to that series whenever im sad.
Same! It’s the most wholesome playthrough of his. One of John’s best ❤
WAIT HE PLAYED DROPSY ??? HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP
That a Kathy Rain are rewatched staples I love them so much
same
The imaginary Letters to the Editor is amazing 😂
Hope this comment section will be nicer on you than some of the last few games!
the game style is just awesome, it's giving me flashbacks with all the obnoxious animations :D
that chowder man track is banger
I’ve never played this game, but I enjoyed the weird nostalgia trip and the fact that John’s natural paranoia about the internet stopped him from clicking on anything and everything in sight and progressing.
I also can’t help but think that Doug is going to HATE this game when it comes to book club…
"We're going back, we're reporting all those 1st graders!" xD It's lines like that that makes me love being here
also john! feel youd like "home safety hotline" similar vibes but helping with home invasion, intruders or just funky silly stuff :)
Yessss I hope he plays that!
they popped off with these aesthetics.
This game makes me feel like I’m at work for some reason.
24:00 "We're reporting all those first graders!!", sincerely Evil John.
so glad you're playing this. it's one of my favorites. incredible nostalgia lol
48:30 Professor Helper almost claimed another victim 😂 love the videos John, and I've been enjoying this one too! I love the art design that went into this game, really hits old entertainment-education games with the tutorial and old internet sites
I have no idea what this is, but from your description in yesterday's video, I'm excited
One of the most impactful games I’ve ever played. To see you playing it now (and mentioning my comment on your podcast) absolutely blows my mind.
Deepest John Wolfe lore in this ep!
the soft "oh nooo" when you saw zane's page killed me. his self insert comic kind of reminds me of spike from BtVS lol. the actions in asterisks and the music autoplaying on the page.... ah, it really takes me back. the pokemon gazette story was really cute though, 'letters to the editor' aside haha. that's so much work to put in on a hobby as a kid. were the articles news about the pokemon games? in-universe pokemon articles?

Encarta!
I love hearing John say “dumpies” lol
John walking into a classroom and ripping up all the children's drawings of Gumshoe Gooper 😆
love and adore the sound track for this game!
when you mentioned dropsy i realized ive been watching you for at LEAST 8 years and that made me feel old haha, its crazy
The spammy internet vibes are giving me so much childhood nostalgia, I love it! 😂I also loved seeing the relatable horror of trying to quickly cancel a download for a sketchy plugin. I'm looking forward to more good times with this!
This is so nostalgic...almost makes me miss those simpler days of the internet
This is so strange I love it. Dropsy was wild too, I remember you playing that! I would have been 15 and now I'm 24, time flies.
i watch a lot of hypnospace lets plays and the guy going " *the settings menu* " kills me everytime without fail it's such a good joke
So I got the game to play on my own. Watched the intro company ad video and realized there was a strange stuffed toy that looked familiar. Come to find out, one of the game devs created Dropsy! The toy looked familiar but damn! It was a Dropsy doll!
This game is really incredible! I hope you enjoy it.
The Pokémon Gazette story is so cute 😂
I will never get tired of the Oblivion guard quotes lol
the soundtrack is BOPPIN, love this game so far! 😄
Omg yay!!! You're playing one of my favorite games of all time! Can't wait to watch this series. I'm already feeling a sense of nostalgia 💜
I played a lot of this and Void Bastards a few years ago.
I really hope you enjoy/enjoyed this game dude. Genuinely one of my favorite game experiences in recent years. So unique, soo good. And the sequel is in the works!!
the silly retro music and visuals really tickle something in my brain, and knowing this playthru is for his podcast kinda adds to the immersion of office worker john lol this is gonna be fun
i'd love to see john's old comics lol
Loving this second channel ❤
Chowder Man 🦅🇺🇸...not the hero we need, but the one we deserve. 😂
Omg you are going to love this! So excited to watch.
Also im dead imagine tour art being so bad it bypasses the copyright infringment rules 😂
Also a 20 page pokemone zine monthly is honestly impressive af especially for a kid
God. I remember making "awards" for people in my online creative writing group WITH THAT SAME FONT.
I didnt expect this piece of John Wolfe lore in this video, but I love it xD
John you are just uploading banger after banger after banger. Thanks for the excellent content!

The nostalgia is real with this one! I'm loving the play through. Looking forward to part 2
As someone who is old enough to remember the internet when it was like this... wow, I'm old... huh.
Your new channel makes me so happy. Thank you John
Omg not a playthrough I was expecting but I’m so excited!! This games sick
Hell yes! One of my favorite games ever created
YES MAN!!!
I've been waiting for a long time for you to run through this game! Awesome!
So glad you're playing this game! Yes!!! I love hypnospace and I love johns content. Big win for me today.
This playthrough is approved by your shareholders. Please keep following this strategy, Wolfe CEO!
I love that the music is clearly inspired by faith no more 😆. It's so nostalgic, I used to have a website back in the day too.
The gaming book club is a cool idea.
They did a great job with it, I unironically loved it! 😂
@@samwisegamgee1243 samesies 😆
I’ve never been this early to one of your videos haha so excited to see you play this!! I hope you have a blast ⭐️
Omg YESS!!! So excited to watch you play through this!
This totally felt like something that would have existed in the mid 90's

loving this so far! can't wait to see more of it, thank you for playing, john! :)
This brings back some memories I suppressed long time ago😂
I absolutely loved this game ! Excited to see you get through a few specific points.
This game is insanely creative and has SUCH a fun aesthetic.

This game has me smiling so much! My cold dead heart isn't usually prone to nostalgia but this has GOT me.
This is one of my favorite games, I’m so excited to see you play this!
This game looks like so much fun, I can’t wait to try it after you finish your play through! I’m so hype for the next part!
Man im so glad theres new John content everytime i open my app
Love this game and loved this video! Thanks for playing John. My only tip for enjoying this game is don't be afraid to soak in the pages. Hope you enjoy it!

I’m the Chowder Maaaaaaaan!!!!!!
never would've imagined you playing this game but i love to see it - i'm terribly fond of the game
Super hyped to see you play this John
what a charming game haha I love the little ban hammer icon and the exploring of all the pages
Didn't expect you play this!! ❤
Played this blind a while ago and accidentally soft-locked myself, never had the will to really do it all again so I´m happy to watch you play it!
wow i love this so far
I haven't watched this yet because I'm in a chat but I love this game and I'm so glad you are playing it! Unexpected but great!
So excited to watch this.
Ooo this seems like a fun one
Miss those crazy website designs
Can’t wait for more, thanks adult Zane
This was so much fun watching you play this. Sad you missed the Dropsy plush in the beginning cutscene. Maybe there's another of him somewhere!
Hypnospace is one of the best games I've ever played, delighted to see you trying it out.
Yooo I've been looking forward to this
