I would say 5! Top notch result! Phenomenal gloss and effects, that is a testament to your talent, especially considering the “humble” choice in paint.. Bless you for these videos..
Jon when mixing up would japan dryer help with Rustolium curing or mess the process up? There must be a reason I'm just curious. Thanks. Great job on the truck. I love it man
Japan drier is fine if your just doing Rustoleum but if your gonna clear coat it then it's just overkill regardless I usually just use hardener thanks for watching
Hi Johnathon, What a transformation! 5 all the way!! I have two questions. Why did you have to sand the entire truck with 600 prior to laying down the clear? You added hardener into the black Rustoleum, I would have thought after a couple of hours you could have cleared directly onto the black without sanding. Next, start to finish how many days did it take to paint the truck? I tried to keep track in the video but lost :). Stay well and Happy New Year!
I did that because of the time in between and I wanted to do the two tone so I didn't want to waste any clear coat because I knew I would be clearing it after I did the two-tone if that makes sense start to finish it took about 2 weeks of painting but I got sick so that kind of put me down and the weather wasn't the best it kept changing back and forth and that last run of clear is where I picked up all the orange peel but I'm going to do a cut and buff on the whole truck in a future video when the weather gets better so stay tuned Happy New Year Thanks for watching!
Got it THANKS Buddy!! It's Crazy but for around $250 of paint you have an easy several thousand dollar paint job. But the painter has a lot of talent!!😉
I just bought an 01 ram sport, a rust free example from Arizona. I’d love to do Rustoleum allis chalmers or kubota orange paint on it and drop it like your truck.
Thanks for walking us through how you do a two tone Rustoleum paint job with clear. I am going to do a 3 tone Rustoleum paint job, but I was trying to figure out how to deal with the curing time on the base. Make perfect sense now to let cure and sand, then move on to pearl coloured clears.
Wow, John!!! You transformed the hell outta that truck! You did a really good job. It went from just a below average beater, to a very nice custom truck. 🔥🫡 You got my respect buddy!!! Good job!
Turned out great! Nice work! I have used the hardener and japan dryer together with Rustoleum and it sped up the process a bit, but I don't know that I really pushed it that much. I plan to start using them together on some upcoming projects. Thanks for sharing this one!
Man that really came together! Hard to believe it's the same truck! Lol that drop and those wheels really all set that thing off!... That's a full on 5 there bud!
U deserve way more followers , your giving us all the how to tips and on a budget what else do we want!! That buff will turn into a neck breaker for sure 😊
You know I struggled with that idea lol but I decided to go with a more modern looking two-tone rather than the three tone like the The old styles with the moldings but both look great Thanks for watching!
This looks great! I would like to make a suggestion… I sprayed 2k without much thought, I had a Kn 95 mask and didn’t think about much more than that. Well, I was sick for weeks after that. I began looking up paint articles and videos and found out that 2k can get into your body anywhere and it can be deadly. So I bought a full face mask and the next time I painted I was fine afterwards. It just occurred to me that your voice is getting really ragged, maybe you should get yourself a full face mask… Just a thought Nice work on the truck!
Thank You John. Halfway thinking that's my truck you just painted. 2 tone Chevy with just the right amount of Bling. Hadn't thought of decals like you did. But it's a new day so I'll be thinking about decals now. Fine Job John.
Trust me I wanted to go crazy but I was like just keep it simple for the people who are learning and I'll do more extreme stuff in the future Thanks for watching!
There's not a wrong way to do it it's just the way I was taught You can do it both ways and I have switched it up sometimes but biggest thing is just to make sure you have a good overlap so you don't leave any dry spray lines Thanks for watching
Thanks for Watching!!!
