    I thought maybe an update was in order. I’m Xander’s owner and I learned so much from Thomas. I owe Thomas a debt of gratitude, he saved my best friends life!
    Xander is doing very well. He still has some aggressive tendencies but I have learned to control him and redirect him. Thomas trained ME much more than he trained Xander!!

    So I am the owner in the video. Please note that the camera adds 50lbs haha. I really appreciate everyone's positive comments and well wishes. Some background on Xander, he is a rescue from 4 the love of dogs of New Hampshire, he was apparently very mistreated when he was a puppy in Texas but he is making daily progress and is becoming a great dog, thanks to Thomas and his wonderful staff!
    For those that commented on Xander being over weight please note that we are BOTH on a diet and now that Thomas has helped me learn how to handle him better he is getting much more exercise. It always amazes me how easy it is for people to be judgmental on these forums!!

      Kudos to you for rescuing Xander and giving him a second chance! I have been owned by FOUR Rotties in my life and I can tell you there are a lot of armchair quarterbacks out there that know 'just how to do stuff' and are quick to point fingers at size, equipment, methods, etc. that you use with your dog. They have no idea of backstory, temperament or personality of the dog, but are quick to tell you their views. My advice is to listen to Tom and turn a deaf ear to them. Keep on doing what you are doing and stay positive. HUGE THUMBS UP to you and Xander!!!!!

      I’m so glad to hear that and so sad to hear about his past.Congrats to you for taking him and loving him!
      My friends Rottie was bitten when he had his muzzle on by a pittie and since then he has a problems with dogs especially when he’s muzzled. But that’s his defense mechanism, yesterday we took him to a dogs parks when there weren’t any dogs and when a group of people with their dogs came in the dog park without even questioning us if he’s aggressive or not- we were already on high alert to catch him so we can leave but he didn’t have any problems with those dogs at all, that showed us how much the muzzle makes him more aggressive but it’s still needed (by law and also we don’t wanna risk cus we have many people here that unleash their dogs on street even if they are aggressive) , we are also working with him to make him less dog aggressive.
      Also heads up that Rotties are also a large breed so sometimes they look over weight when instead they are naturally large chested and have tons of muscle. I had a rottie that was 120 pounds but he just had tons on muscle and had a large chest (he was exercised every day with runs and swimming- in summer just swimming cus it was to hot and we didn’t want to over work him). I recommend if you can take him for swimming helps a lot of calm him down and also lose weight more healthy and build his muscles especially on his lower body! 👍🏻👏🏻

      As in , you could replace the dog, with like some imposing/threatening figure, and the sense is the same.

    10:00 "people say I talk too much"
    No, when you are talking to another person and explain them your findings, or what is happening in front of their eyes is exceptionally useful for them in real life as they will find themselves in situations when they will have to talk to people during their walks. It's about the whole pack not just the dog.
    Love your methodology.

It’s great the dog is learning wo getting completely and instantly JERKED AROUND which can create latent then not so latent hostilities. Well Done! Dominate red zone dogs are tough.

    The most concerning part about this dog is the fact that he’s not using his nose at all. A normal dog would have realized quickly that that decoy was not a real dog by using its nose. Dogs learn early on to function from their noses - that’s not how a normal dog functions.

    Nice work dog trainer dude, I'm currently babysitting a fairly dominant dog myself and by issuing commands and control during tense moments i finds works very well at de-escalation. Thanks bro 👍👍

    My dog just attacked a dog this week. I am very relieved I have found your channel!! I like how you had a stuffed dog and watched how he was dominating and what he was doing to the stuffy. 👍

    Dude your videos are so great, please never forget to make an update video for dogs like these, and when you do make sure the title of the video matches the original video,so that TH-cam automatically recommends the updation video, cause it's not recommending them properly right now. And gotta say this is the only instructional channel which I enjoy watching.

    We have a 4-year-old shepherd/hound mix that we rescued a little over two months ago. He was seriously lacking confidence and had some resource guarding/protective issues. His fear of people and dogs, unfortunately, manifested in aggression. Between implementing what I have learned from watching your videos, giving him a stable and loving home environment, and taking him to regular obedience classes at a Tops Training facility near me, he has made significant strides. We are not out of the woods yet. It takes a lot of time, patience, and consistency. I watched your video the other day with the white dog that had resource guarding issues. After seeing your success in that video I purchased an e-collar (we only use the beep and have the option for vibrate, I did not even put the shock prongs into the collar). It is a game-changer!! The beep is just enough to break his focus and puts it back to where we want it. I appreciate your training videos and that you let us watch the process that you go through to determine the issue. I appreciate that you do not edit all of the "fails" out and only show what works. Great work! Much appreciated!

    I’m so glad to see Xander improving. We had a rottx right after I got out of college. He showed up at our house one day and we weren’t able to find his people. He thought he was a lapdog. A very large lap dog.

    Just found your channel and I love that you don't use the alpha/physical aggression for training like all of my local trainers. Also my dog heard your commands, jumped on my lap and started watching the video lmfao! wish you peace and patience with the hounds!

      Sonda Marshall I’m assuming having been used for other dogs and being in that building, other dog’s scents will be on it

    • @coloringroxs
      @coloringroxs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Right my first initial thought was, he didn’t use his nose to realize it was a fake dog; that’s not good. But then yeah probably is scent of other dogs on it

    • @indigodragon0613
      @indigodragon0613 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Sonda Marshall
      When dogs are so intensely focused on the visual side of things, they don’t use their noses. He’s at too high an intensity to use his nose, and therefore is getting almost all of his information from sight. It looks like a dog so he’s learned to just attack, and not take the time to smell and gather information.
