I don't know what have you done for this to work, or if you're showing this actually using a native lens, but this is no the behavior of the EF-NEX IV, I tested it with a Sony A7IV, A7SIII and A7III and with a bunch of EF lenses, including the one that you're showing here the Canon 50mm f1.8 STM, and having installed al least three different firmwares, and in PDAF (Phase Detection AF) in VIDEO MODE doesn't even work, I can't turn on AF-C, it says that the lens is not compatible. In PHOTO MODE PDAF works great, super fast, super accurate. In CDAF (Contrast Detection AF) the AF in VIDEO is totally useless, it hunts forever and it never locks down on anything. CDAF in photo mode has a similar behavior. With all of the cameras and all of the lenses the behavior was the same. I don't know what you did, but first you're not using it on a A7 body, and you're using the focal reducer version. With the EF-NEX IV the video AF it DOES NOT work at all. People don't waste your money in this if you're thinking in video AF.

I always see that these kind of speedbooster are only available as a converter (EF-E, so on) so, my question is do they actually sell a speedbooster that doesn't change the mount? Let's say i just wanted to get rid of crop factor and add an extra light stop, but still use the original mount that came with the camera. (E-E)
The way a speedbooster works is to focus a cone of light that is too large for the new sensor down to a smaller size. It is not possible to make a speedbooster for (e-e). You would have terrible vignette. The reason you get a speed boost is that the cone of light designed for the large sensor is focused to a smaller area used by the smaller sensor.

I bought the same adapter after watching this. Updated to the latest firmware and it worked with most of my EF lenses. Face and Eye AF works well on AFS mode (photo) on my A6400, but failed in video mode. Is yours able to work well in video mode?
@Sergio Marques Nope, I sold it and I'm using the Sigma MC-11. The adapter has some QC issues, it cannot take the weight of heavy lenses. When I mounted my canon 70-200 f2.8 or the 24-70 f2.8, my A6400 froze. I had to power off and on again.
Hello! Did test this version too, autofocus misses a lot and aperture control is wrong, cannot open to widest aperture, need to reattach lens after every few shots, I rolled back to version 1.8. too bad, hybrid AF would be super nice
You say the MC-11 only works with Sigma Art lenses which is simply untrue. I have adapted dozens of EF lenses and they work fantastically, the Art lenses just get all the native focusing options whereas other lenses are limited in small ways (just like the focus area options).

Because you wrote that you tried to adapt dozens of lenses. I'm interested if the tracking autofocus works in video with the MC-11 and with this particular lens. (Sony a7-III S and A7-II S)
I don't know if you already tried it yourself by now but anyway: I got my Viltrox yesterday. Straight out the box and tried it with the exact lense you are asking about + my Alpha 7 III but it didn't work really well. The autofocus did kick in but it was never sharp - always off by quite a bit. BUT I didn't try to connect it to my PC so far so I'm not exactly sure if the firmware is the newest one. Will try that later today and give an update.
@@zacmak8262 sadly no. The firmware is the latest. It just doesn't work well with the 70-300. BUT the silver lining is, that it worked with my 90 mm macro from Tamron. 9 out of 10 times the AF kicked in pretty fast. So maybe I'll keep the adapter.

Hi, thank you for sharing this firmware update. I bought this EF-EII speed booster to use canon lenses on old nex5 (mark I, not N, not C...). Love the focal reducing but autofocus is a bit random and IS does not turn on with Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS (mark I). I plan to buy Canon EF 35mm f2 IS and I wonder if upgrading to an a6300 would resolve focusing and IS troubles? Is focusing with EF lenses better on EF-M2? or should I rather buy full frame Canon body? Thanks

Tried sigma 17-50 with a6400 with v1.9 but not working photo and video. But I saw a youtuber using it and it works both photo and video. But he didn't reply my question. Do you have experience using sigma 17-50mm?
I don't have SIgma 17-50, but I do have Tamron's version. It has some troubles working with "MOST" of the adapters, including Metabones. Not even Sigma MC-11, so Viltrox shouldn't be blamed for this. The problem could be the lens itself.
nice video, its realy work, but i found an issue, the stabiliser image on lens ont work, i use canon 22-105mm, when i use 1.8 version the stabilizer its work fine but the fungtion its very lag, and when i upgrade to 1.9 V, the fungtion getting better but the Image stabilizer doesn't work, maybe can you fine solution? thank you before
Im now using canon 50 f1.4 with ef-e v0.2 on my a6500 and it keep searching focus with af-c and miss focus when using af-s. And i found some error when changing aperture. But in video mode it focus really fast. I decided to back to v1.8 because i think it more stable on photo mode and give no error when changing aperture Sorry for my bad english

For the a6400, you should've bought the EF-EII instead.

You have to understand .. the software matters more than hardware. Especially when the hardware seems to be almost the same.

@@tibfox The sigma works very well with the Canon 70-200 F2.8 Mark II (that's what I own). No face or eye AF in video mode though.

If I use this adapter for a CANON lens to a Sony body, will the Steadyshot IBIS automatically detect/adjust to the focal length of the lens?

The only adapter that could work "almost" perfect with Tamron 17-50 VC is Fringer EF-FX pro II, but that one is for Fujifilm camera.

When updating the latest firmware, what file do you copy on the adapter, EF-NEX-IV Test-v041.vtx or EF-NEX-IV_version-1.9.vtx?

Auto focus works.... But ofc black circles will be visible in Full-frame mode. You have to use the crop mode to get rid of it

Viltrox IV on a6500 with firmware v1.9 or v041test is a crap, I go back to v1.8
The clear image zoom doesn't work with any firmware version
Sigma MC-11 is the best, too bad it doesn't accept EF-S lenses
And too bad there isn't a focal reducer version of the MC-11. I've thought about just DIYing it but I'm not smart enough
