      I know you do mirrorless specifically but can you address pros and cons between DSLR and mirrorless and good cheap cameras good for low light and low noise? For example I've sold my t7 for an a6000 I found for 550cad. Hoping I made a good choice where I do a variety of styles although mainly astro and life or day to day stuff or still life I suppose. Which for me includes landscape and nature photography.

    Yongnuo is making quite good lenses for some time. This year they supposed to announce 23mm , 33mm and 56mm f1.4 lenses for APS-C but so far they only released 33mm for Nikon. Still waiting for Sony E-mount version.

      I had bought an 50mm 1.4 yongnuo lens for ef, i had so much regret buying it, because after less than a month one of the diaphragm blades shot out it's place, rendering it trash since it was a sealed body construction, so i'm completely sceptical about that brand.

    Yongnuo is more widely known for their excellent line of speedlights. I've had one of their YN568EXIII speedlights for a few years that has never given me a single problem. This particular unit is comparable to the Nikon SB910. If I didn't already have the AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4, I wouldn't hesitate to consider this Yongnuo lens.

    If I did not already have an 85mm, I would seriously consider buying the Yongnuo YN85mm f/1.8 auto focus lens. I am very pleased with the Yongnuo flash units that I am currently using.

    no problem finding the lens for the Fuji X series in either US or Canada Amazon. For the Fuji it is 50mm or 75 mm equivalent. For those doing a lot of portraits it might be a worthy lens -- Can. $485.00. Being retired for 25 years, no longer a wedding photographer, its use for me would be very limited. I rather enjoy using the Viltrox 27 mm f 1.2 but of course it is more expensive.

    As always, I appreciate your review and thoughts on this lens. Also appreciate that you share your honest thoughts, regardless of how you obtained the lens.
    Here is my concern. If I were a company sending someone a product for review to be shared with a large social media audience, I would make sure that specific sample was the best I could find. Looking at the comments on the Yongnuo website you shared for the RF mount version reveals a wide range of experiences and what seems to be some pretty significant quality and consistency issues. The specific sample reviewed here is great, but it seems like randomly finding great samples could be a problem.
    B&H appears to have the older (based on another comment on this video) RF version of this lens, which I might be tempted to try since they stand behind whatever they sell. Probably wouldn’t order direct from China based on reasonable possibility of issues and trying to sort that out with an overseas manufacturer.

    • @retrothing
      @retrothing 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It is, smart guy. 😁 An “optical shoot” puts a better lens at the end so you can project a more detailed image, like a logo on a 35mm slide. Snoots sometimes have a rudimentary optical system for zooming and focusing your cookies. My optical snoot gives you a lens mount so you can pop a photographic lens on the end for more detailed imaging, and selectable focal lengths.

      I don't have the RF mount version, but think it should work ok. It has not IS in the lens to fight with the IBIS, and the lens reports the focal length to the camera body (for the IBIS to function properly) . So, in theory, it should be fine, but I can't say for sure as I can not test it.

      The big big question.
      How does this 400 buck lens compare to the big daddy Canon 85 1.4 L series. Cos I love my image stabilised creamy dream maker. But the Canon is 2 gorillas so can this youngie slide in at 1/5 the price and make me cry? How big the bokeh? Maybe its all down to the IS. But if Tamrons done a Vibration Control 45mm could… …
      Expensive hairs we are splitting. I may be up for selling my favourite hunk of glass.

      No, mirrorless only. Unfortunately, no one, including Canon, is developing new EF lenses now.

      Yongnuo have native lenses available for micro 4/3 - the Yongnuo 25mm f/1.7 - the Yongnuo 42.5mm f/1.7 version Ii and they’ve just released the Yongnuo 17mm f/1.7 (50mm, 85mm and 35mm equivalents) respectively - they’re available on eBay and Amazon and AliExpress (the 17mm is only available on AliExpress currently)

    • @markwiemels
      @markwiemels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would say so, but I have not tested it, based on the full frame results I think it would be very minimal on APS-C.

    Is the Canon version illegal to import into the US? The link you provided showed two versions for RF cameras. One had a strange mount and note that you had to push the button on the lens rather than on the camera to dismount. They were the same price. Comment?

    Nobody heard of? Sure have. Yongnuo has been about for many years. It does a 50mm copy of the Canon. Inferior - unless its method has vastly improved. Not a name I'd associate with quality but then neither were Tamron and Sigma but both have vastly improved.

  • @foca2002
    @foca2002 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yongnuo pricing in Brazil does´t make any sense.
    The 50mm for Canon costs R$650/US$125, for Sony it costs R$2000/US$385.

    • @Thecalebpoe
      @Thecalebpoe 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can find it in F mount I believe it will work as long as the lens has an internal focus motor and doesn't rely on the camera to focus it. Since the D3200 has no focus motor. It will look more like a 127mm lens though because of the camera being a crop sensor camera.

  • @philmtx3fr

    Well 85mm f1.8 are not the most difficult to build and a lot of lenses are good in this category including Chinese brands (yougnuo as here, but also viltrox Sam yang and so on). But according to me even if the optics is easy to copy (not a lot of lenses inside) the reliability is not so simple and I would prefer to buy a Sony second hand than this one.
