An option for local storage is to have two recorders. One, the cheapest unit you can lay your hands on, sits in a relatively easy-to-find location, possibly even recording stuff if it actually works. That's the decoy; there to be stolen. The proper one is stashed away elsewhere, whether that's in the attic, under the bath behind the side panel, wherever, and that's where stuff gets recorded for real.
Thanks Stu! You can check the S40 solocam if interested in the exact same specs + a larger battery with spotlights. Would be very interested if someone could share their experience with testing this can completely offline for longer than a week (not connected to any WiFi or hotspot). Would it still record to its internal storage and would the recordings still be accessible when connected back to WiFi again (after a week)?
It gives AI capabilities to the entire system (face recognition and all). As a stand-alone, your camera alone will be able to recognize humans/pets/objects moving around, or detect all motions if that's what you want. It also will behave as your local storage if you would like to go that route. I do have the Homebase 2 and for me it's more than enough, I live in a pretty safe neighborhood so all I need is motion sensors to let me know when someone is coming.
I used Arlo for a long time, and in the end it just annoyed me. Kept getting dual notifications for events which the support team couldn’t help me with (tried everything - including full system reset)…the subscription for the AI features was overly expensive, and I found the battery life (and lack of solar panels) pretty poor.
I got one of these cameras and like it a lot, much better than my older Blink and Arlo Cameras I have up currently. Will probably replace them with more Eufy Cams. Wifi range is excellent, and will probably replace my Ring Doorbell cam soon, because tired of paying for Ring's annual subscription which they keep raising the rates every year.
I like the idea of the Eufy eco system but losing the footage if the camera is stolen - or a more likely scenario, stops working/is destroyed is a big downside for me :( - am I right in thinking that if you have a paid subscription, then even if the camera disappears, you'd still have it in the cloud?
@@CaydenThyGamer I believe even with the base station, if you lose the camera you can’t access the footage locally anymore - unless you know that isn’t the case?
The Solocam s220 doesn't work with the cloud, only itself or the homebase. I just got one and tried signing up for the free trial only to find no supported device. I didn't really want cloud storage but I thougth I'd try the free tria anywayl. Otherwise it.and the homebase are excellent.@@StusReviewsUK
I bought this camera to record an anniying neighbor and right when i caught them all drinking and drunk exciting their cars. The camera will not record people. It will reset ever other 5 seconds and lost all that footage. Have you found a solution for this?
You may have mentioned but will the 2k cameras pair with homebase 3? I can only find the 4k versions but don't really want 4k cameras. I may buy the 4k set with homebase 3 but want to add 2k ones in the future.. i watched again and think you mentioned at the end of the video it will work
Yes these ones work with the Homebase 3 👍 (also, the old 2k ones without solar panel work with it too… there’s a full compatibility list on eufys website though, so double check first).
Thanks, I've just bought a floor-level apartment with a big garden, still under construction, and I was looking for some kind of security system and this sounds really great, I just hope that it works with the Google Home devices that I have so the alarm sound will be activated through all the smart speakers.
7:54 which is atrocious (very confused gaze) 😂😂😂😂 where’s your country club ? I want to come have a beer 😂 if it’s members only I’m not rich enough. 😭✌🏻
I have the Eufycam 2 pro with homebase 2, EufyCam system is garbage! You can't expand the system as they don't sell individual cameras for it and the ones they have like this s220, requires homebase 3 if you want to connect to a homebase. Furthermore, its tracking is piss poor, and one can avoid being recorded by walking fast past the camera before it starts recording - it's slow! Too many false human motion recordings as well. The Warranty is a joke, I filed a claim online on the last day of my warranty as one camera happened to fail on that day (foggy image), no response by Eufy. Avoid this brand!!!
Yeah, that’s a bit annoying - they’ve mentioned that they’re are updating to work with HomeKit, but I hate mentioning things like that in episodes because until it’s here, words are just words! Fingers crossed that they do though. 👌 I’m still using the Aqara g3 hub in the house to run the rest of the Aqara kit off mind 👍
I personally still kinda trust them. My information is at least in better hands, than being with Amazon or Google, who steals your data and steals your videos and can send them to police without permission.

Open honest and funny - thank you.
I am looking to purchase this camera, just need to do a bit more research.
This comes at a perfect time Stu! I’m in the process of moving and need a good security camera system, think Eufy is the way forward

What's the benefit of connecting to a homebase? The homebase 3 is quite expensive right now so planning to use it as a stand alone for a while

I want a local storage security system and I'm split between Eufy and Arlo. The built in solar panel on this might sway me towards Eufy now.

arlo is good while it works, will keep disconnecting you for no reason and there is not customer support at all.

Mine takes forever to connect, any suggestions??
Is your router set on 2.4 ghz range?
What is the distance from router? How much bandwidth does it use? I use a nest inside but my dropcam is gone in April. Thanks
Mine is about 10 ft from my router and never connects, gotta be the worst camera on the market
Hi does it still work in the winter

Yeah, that right - if you subscribe to their cloud storage then it covers you for that. 👍
Just don’t buy a solocam. Buy a camera that uses a base station instead.
@@CaydenThyGamer I believe even with the base station, if you lose the camera you can’t access the footage locally anymore - unless you know that isn’t the case?

Will the eufy work with an NVR without any internet service?

Does this continuous record as I’m looking to purchase but I wish to have them continues record
No, none of the battery ones can 24/7 record without dying.
Can this work with homebase 2?
Can your clear the sd content from the app?
I just listened to this video. Will this camera detect a bear that comes to my porch and steals my bird feeder? Will it record it. It's not a human.
Is it compatible with Apple HomeKit?
No
5:20 😂 you read my mind 🧠
Maybe a good camera, but sadly Eufy cameras do not integrate into Home Assistant.
GAVE ME A LAUGH M8 THX! 🤣🤣👍👍
amazon had one for 65 bucks, bought it
Expecting mine tomorrow. Same price, I just bought it from Eufy directly.
do you need the hub
7:54 which is atrocious (very confused gaze) 😂😂😂😂 where’s your country club ? I want to come have a beer 😂 if it’s members only I’m not rich enough. 😭✌🏻
The country club is situated on the darkest hill in the wettest part of wales, surrounded by the tallest trees 👀 🥃
WOW! Thanks.
Yes, more torturing the cameraman, it's a tradition of the industry that nobody admits.

1. Sell the homebase 2 buy the homebase 3
2. For tracking you want the s340 that’s not the purpose of this camera.
3. You have bad luck
Once again Ryan you have failed me... BRING ME THOSE PANTIES DAMN IT!
😜
Requires a home base station which is a big turn off for me - will stick with Aqara where you dont need to buy / have a hub
It doesn’t though… something tells me you didn’t watch all the episode before commenting 👀
@@StusReviewsUK alright fine but it still doesn't support HomeKit - so its still an instant no from me

They’ve been “promising” HomeKit for years now. Literally years…
😹
No trust for Eufy after their recent security flaws (plural). Even with local storage I’ll still pass
I personally still kinda trust them. My information is at least in better hands, than being with Amazon or Google, who steals your data and steals your videos and can send them to police without permission.
How could those incidents effect outdoor security footage? Not to worried about securing footage of my neighbor walking their dog.
@@ericjohnson829 it doesn’t matter. A privacy/data breach is exactly that regardless of the location of the camera
@@Equinox4523is it a bug or a malicious feature?
Stop being so gay ain’t no one looking at your recordings plus we are being surveilled by our governments
