Buy some silicone spray from any Walmart or auto parts store. Silicone spray is used to lubricate rubber parts. It will help you lubricate your tires and then they will install on the wheels better. You can lubricate the moving suspension with the silicone spray. It dries and doesn't attract that much dust and dirt. I bought some of those tires years ago and if you run them on hard surfaces the knobbs wear off quickly.
Damn I hope I will be alright putting my Hornet together . Lots of people saying this is really hard to do. I don't know. Never owned a Hornet before and picking it up today from the local hobby shop. I've owned lots of other Tamiya RC cars but not a Hornet. I also have 2 brand new in box Candy green Grasshoppers which I hear can be difficult to fit tires onto the wheels also. Oh well if kids can do this so can I and I'm 50 years old. Thanks for your advice and assembly tips so much . 👌👍🥰
@@wns_RC_racing Thanks. It did go together extremely easy. I then asked a friend at a local hobby shop and he said it will vary from tyre to tyre, so he reckons there not all the same. But thankyou again. The strange thing is now that I changed my wheels over to some Louise phantom wheels and tyre with foams to preserve the original Tamiya Hornet tyres. I didn't really like the Tamiya tyres because they have a quite large vent hole around 2.5 almost 3 mm diameter and it kind of makes the tyre flat like I can feel the wheel through the tyre. I realise the tyre will puff up upon use but it just didn't feel right to me. Plus those spikes were not going to last with a faster motor, not even a regular silver can standard 540 Tamiya motor. I was looking to get a sport tuned Tamiya motor but the shop was waiting for it to arrive so intended up getting a core RC 15 turn and I don't think that was a good idea. It isn't a Tamiya and doesn't have the nice sticker and it might be too much for a Hornet. Plus it looks too plain like a silver can with no markings. I may return that motor.the Louise phantom tyres and wheels are awesome, I have some on my Super Hot Shot. The only need some serrated wheel nuts because they've got a different wheel offset and the nylon insert Tamiya wheelnuts don't grip with this wheel and they eliminate the need to use the plastic hub adaptor behind the wheel by only using the drive pins. The adaptor is built into the Louise phantom wheel. Awesome.and they're quite fat and sticky too 👍👌
It's a lot easier if you stretch one side out with two fingers of each hand and then get someone to drop the hub straight in between your fingers. Took, me 5 seconds for each wheel !!!
The rims on the grasshopper I are the same, the Grasshopper tires are much easier to get on compared to the Hornet ones. Check our vid (part 2) to see how. First push the part R3 into the wheel at an angle of 90°. Once in there turn the rim.
You saved me from losing my cool in front of my kid! Thanks mate!
i put my rims in as i watched this video! raced you twice and won both times! (my first time doing this kind of thing!) thanks a lot for the vid
Yes, spray silicon from a local parts house, walmart etc works great.

Thanks John for your comment. Indeed those tires are no match with hard surfaces or roads. But in loose dirt they are fine
Thank you !
you're welcome
proof that it's possible! Thanks what I needed
Glad to comfort you!
Thanks for the video.

Grow some muscles
What a ball achè, I’ve been wrestling with it for over an hour now 😂
47 seconds is our registered record :) . Some say heating the tire in hot water seems to help. th-cam.com/video/x80vd73yYQs/w-d-xo.html
