I just got an MPC Live II and I don't know nothing about it (yet). I'm glad I found this tutorial as it helps me to understand a little bit better how to transfer all that good stuff that comes with the MPC but that newbies like me doesn't know anything about. Thanks Matthew!

So I just got my one and I’’m lovin it so far. I feel this crazy freedom coming from a Maschine MK3 to the (limitations of the) MPC. Im doing standalone and was kinda meh when I saw the factory content and f9. When I discovered the expansions that was available for transfer through the software… man, holy balls. The Vault 2.0 is the same level of epic as when the fellowship of the ring charges the armies of Mordor. Thanks for the tut man. Keep it up!

Superb all worked for me, just got to make sure you make a Expansions file on your sd or hard drive and drag and drop the F9 Instruments into the Expansions file you made . Then reboot the Mpc so the files show up.
Just received my MPC One LE. Nice! Didn't know about the expansions from the software that could be added to the SD card's expansions. I will also definitely check out the course as it's really affordable and your videos I've checked out so far are straight to the point and easy to understand.

I can see the f9 folder in my expansions folder on my SD card and use it on my MPC live 2 but it does not appear in the expansions section of the MPC like in your tutorial. Is this normal or ok ? Can this be done for every expansion that's ever created for the MPC X? I ask because I've held off on buying any expansions because I primarily use my X in standalone mode and refuse to mess with the MPC BEATS DAW. I've been under the impression that expansions can only work when connected to the computer other than maybe the default ones like HYPE, TUBESYNTH, BASSLINE etc.

The MPC One and some of their other products seem to be marketed as Hip Hop production tools but like I say those Pads you auditioned during this vid are very 'Jarre' like, cant wait to start messing with them this weekend. It would be really helpful if you showed us which ones work for the standalone MPC One and which ones work for the software. This has been a very confusing past couple of days and im very disappointed in the clarity from Akai. I don't want to use their software (I have Ableton) and I only want to know how to add expansions, via USB to my MPC One. This seems to be info that is not available.
I for one know what you guys are going through. I'm almost there, I managed to get the F9.exp on my MPC via thumb drive. I will have to watch again and again to have it on lock from memory. I'm so close to being dialed in for the time being. Any way don't give up and be sure to read the downloads carefully anything for standalone will be near the Mac and PC icons in your akai account.
Update. I gave up and sold the thing. Lol. Not the best solution but it worked. Not bogged down with clunky equipment and releasing my first full length album next month. Keep at it everyone. Making music is a humbling and amazing journey.

Mathew, I followed your instructions. But when I insert the SD card the the F 9 expansion graphic does not appear. But if I go into PLACES i can find the folder there. Why is the graphic not appearing under EXPANSIONS? Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you
Ok I found the problem you have to create a Expansions folder inside of your SD Card That’s it make sure to put that F9 folder inside of it that’s how my MPC One Recognized the image

I downloaded several packs from the "Optional - AIR Virtual Instruments" and "Optional - Legacy Expanions" - but it looks like they can´t be used in standalone. Is that correct?!
Hey I did these steps and my F9 as well as other expansions show up as a generic letter "F" for the f9 expansion, "C" for the chilled trap expansion, etc. Is it possible for it to show up with the correct image instead?

I’ve followed your instructions and instead of the Expansions icon underneath the existing expansion packs it just has a large F. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Hello. There first method I show in this video works for the Force as well. I haven't checked my messages yet this week. I get A LOT of messages, comments, and emails in one day. I am behind as I work full time and run a TH-cam channel and online website with courses. I will check soon though.
Matthew Stratton only if you have MPC software to export it. When I used it on the force about two months ago it recognized the contents of the folder but no icon and some things weren’t being read properly. But I did notice that after I complained to Akai about my problem they started adding standalone. Complaints do work😁
The first method I use doesn't use the software. There may be two scenarios that I can think of that will be different with the Force. I haven't tested it yet as I don't currently use the Force: 1) you have a .xpn file, in which case you would change the .xpn to .zip. Then use the first method in the video. 2) you have an install file. Then you would need to pay attention to where the install puts the expansions and for me it is: C:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\Content\ (then the expansions are located here. I would assume moving the folders from there the the "Expansion" folder on your SD card would be fine. I haven't tested it yet though.

Hey man whats crackin?? Akai themselves sent me this video haha.......Im having some serious problems with installing The Bank expansion on my mac book pro. Every time i try to install the software the installation stops around 90% with `running package scripts` on screen. Any ideas??
@@Simple_Math444 I bought a 1tb SSD and just keep everything there. I originally thought I needed to move the SYNTH data in the 2.10 update. Im loving the MPC as a pure sound module. I dont really like sequencing it in standalone so I use a hardware sequencer instead
I did the standalone version with a usb but it doesn't look for the expansions on my mpc one. It shows individual samples but no kits. What am i doing wrong?
Excellent. It took about 5 hours to download from the website but maybe my computer is just that slow. Good expansion because the onboard sounds were not enough.

Well explained - At 5'20 on here you scroll through the sounds on the F9 expansion and don't need to keep pressing the on screen play icon to hear them ? How do you get the different sounds to play as you scroll down through them? Many thanks

Is the Akai PC software your using the Akai Beats software? I love my MPC One but for a supposedly standalone production centre it seems to need an awful lot of computer assistance 🤔
I'm using the MPC Software that comes with the MPC One in this video. MPC 2 software. You don't need to put the expansion on there if you don't want to, it is a standalone unit out of the box. You don't even need to install the free updates either. You're choice 👍
Hey just a question you can do that with a USB right? I tried to do it and it didnt work when I tried to download the "grand piano" feature to my standalone. Its on my usb, but it didnt show up on my mpc. Thanks for all your help my friend....

Hi Matthew, have you made any videos about how to make Expansion packs? There are lots of videos about how to add samples to the Expansion Builder, but nothing covered the “tag” and organizing part.
No, I don't have a video that covers that. There isn't a sophisticated tagging system for the MPC yet. You basically need to name your samples with keywords (like "kick", "snare", "bass",etc) so you can use the search function on the MPC to find those words.

I tried installing one of those more expensive ones in "MPC Beats" just for testing and I could see some kind of filter options with Type, Genre, Instrument Family and Instrument names included, but I have no idea how it is made.

I just picked up a used mpc one. I'm interested in using live effects with a guitar, or if that's possible. Loving it so far though.
Great video. I managed to do all the steps but when I hit load, it loads it but it doesnt sound like what it does when I preview it

Yes, you can use an 1 TB USB hard drive with the MPC One and install expansions on it. Works same way as SD card.

How do i find out which Expansion Pack can be used standalone and which are not? I downloaded several packs from the "Optional - AIR Virtual Instruments" and "Optional - Legacy Expanions" - but it looks like they can´t be used in standalone. Is that correct?!

Hey I did these steps and my F9 as well as other expansions show up as a generic letter "F" for the f9 expansion, "C" for the chilled trap expansion, etc. Is it possible for it to show up with the correct image instead?
Is this the same way as if you had an mpc Live?

Hi. Thanks for all of your amazing content. I’m an absolute newbie to this. When I downloaded the F9 instruments pack, it didn’t appear underneath as an unzipped file. I’ve followed your instructions and instead of the Expansions icon underneath the existing expansion packs it just has a large F.

I AM using the mpc as a full daw for electronic music but i also Record guitar stuff on the zoom r24 and wanted to use the MPC for my acoustic drums and as a synth. What do you think? I'm thrilled that I got the MPC one and I'm determined to learn how to navigate it but really, really wish they would give clear m.f. directions on what to do and how. "hookup to computer with USB" okay got it "F9 expansion put it in a folder" and now I need an SD card. Really annoying

Hello. There first method I show in this video works for the Force as well. I haven't checked my messages yet this week. I get A LOT of messages, comments, and emails in one day. I am behind as I work full time and run a TH-cam channel and online website with courses. I will check soon though.
Matthew Stratton only if you have MPC software to export it. When I used it on the force about
two months ago it recognized the contents of the folder but no icon and some things weren’t being read properly. But I did notice that after I complained to Akai about my problem they started adding standalone. Complaints do work😁
The first method I use doesn't use the software. There may be two scenarios that I can think of that will be different with the Force. I haven't tested it yet as I don't currently use the Force: 1) you have a .xpn file, in which case you would change the .xpn to .zip. Then use the first method in the video. 2) you have an install file. Then you would need to pay attention to where the install puts the expansions and for me it is: C:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\Content\ (then the expansions are located here. I would assume moving the folders from there the the "Expansion" folder on your SD card would be fine. I haven't tested it yet though.

Just got this machine [MPC ONE] earlier this month very new to the MPC world i have been following your videos i got as far to upgrade to 2.8.1 the instructions for the f9 expansion i followed but seem to run into road blocks brand New sd but im not able to see the f9 pack can i get a little one on one open up this machine properly along with bring over the downloaded filesfrom computerto controller pls &thank you

Hey man whats crackin?? Akai themselves sent me this video haha.......Im having some serious problems with installing The Bank expansion on my mac book pro.
Every time i try to install the software the installation stops around 90% with `running package scripts` on screen.
Any ideas??
I have exactly the same. The Bank is 32 bit and you won't install it on macOS Catalina and above.
Is there a way to move the expansion from the SD card to the internal storage of the MPC?

@@Simple_Math444 I bought a 1tb SSD and just keep everything there. I originally thought I needed to move the SYNTH data in the 2.10 update. Im loving the MPC as a pure sound module. I dont really like sequencing it in standalone so I use a hardware sequencer instead
If I'm using a laptop along with the mpc, do I need the same expansions uploaded on both devices?
I did the standalone version with a usb but it doesn't look for the expansions on my mpc one. It shows individual samples but no kits. What am i doing wrong?
Excellent. It took about 5 hours to download from the website but maybe my computer is just that slow. Good expansion because the onboard sounds were not enough.

I'm using a mac. Is the process the same? I was able to get the file on the drive but it's not showing in expansion. Its showing in the internal.
Well explained - At 5'20 on here you scroll through the sounds on the F9 expansion and don't need to keep pressing the on screen play icon to hear them ? How do you get the different sounds to play as you scroll down through them? Many thanks
In the browser press the Audition F key and then press Auto.

Is the Akai PC software your using the Akai Beats software? I love my MPC One but for a supposedly standalone production centre it seems to need an awful lot of computer assistance 🤔
I'm using the MPC Software that comes with the MPC One in this video. MPC 2 software. You don't need to put the expansion on there if you don't want to, it is a standalone unit out of the box. You don't even need to install the free updates either. You're choice 👍

Hey just a question you can do that with a USB right? I tried to do it and it didnt work when I tried to download the "grand piano" feature to my standalone. Its on my usb, but it didnt show up on my mpc. Thanks for all your help my friend....
I did this correct worked with new synths but the f9 won’t show up in Expansions? Update you have to name the folder expansions or it will not work for the F9 instruments

There are lots of videos about how to add samples to the Expansion Builder, but nothing covered the “tag” and organizing part.
No, I don't have a video that covers that. There isn't a sophisticated tagging system for the MPC yet. You basically need to name your samples with keywords (like "kick", "snare", "bass",etc) so you can use the search function on the MPC to find those words.

I tried installing one of those more expensive ones in "MPC Beats" just for testing and I could see some kind of filter options with Type, Genre, Instrument Family and Instrument names included, but I have no idea how it is made.
