Since the last video, i noticed a lot of visual references to the Metro and Fallout games. The funny teddy bears and cryptids/hauntings are a fallout thing. The green mushrooms were initially from Metro, as far as i know, but Fallout started using them since 4. Editing: 1:27:48 the demon core was a real world nuclear incident, where scientists played with a ball of plutonium and screwdrivers, which went wrong.
A neat detail that I think is often not seen/overlooked from Walter's office is that if you look at the base of the skyscraper, you can see many police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances. This is an emergency response to the explosions that occurred earlier in the skyscraper's basement which caused a lot of structural damage and probably injuries to the populace.
I don't know if you know but the Demon Core was a real thing. It was the third bomb the US developed that was destined to also be dropped on Japan if they didn't surrender. But they did so they just kept it around to tinker with at the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico. The screwdriver accident happened to a nuclear scientist named Louis Slotin. He would use a screwdriver placed between the core and the reflector (top shell). If they meet, the core goes prompt-critical and emits a MASSIVE amount of radiation in a fraction of a fraction of a second. Multiple times a lethal amount. He called it "Tickling the Dragon's Tail" which might also be what was referenced on the ceiling of that room with the sort of snake/dragon drawing. Slotin received a lethal dose of radiation in a fraction of a second and died just 9 days later. The core killed a couple other people before being melted down in 1946 and the nuclear material used in other cores.
Reminder that even _the Joker_ pays his taxes, because tax evasion is one of the few crimes you can't plead insanity on. "I may be crazy enough to fight Batman, but the IRS? Noooo thank you!" (Which, in turn, implies that Turnip Boy is more powerful than the Joker, because his debt game is _literally about tax evasion_ and also sentient vegetables after an unspecified event that sounds a hell of a lot like Adventure Time's "Great Mushroom War"...)
One of the things I love the most about this game is its imagery. That bunker part with the metro fallen in the middle of it was such a cool visual, even though the history related to it is super sad. This game is really good at making 'weird' stuff that you don't often see look really cool. I really can't wait for a sequel of this game. Would be really interesting to see what they would do, specially now with Source 2.
1:10:45 I remember this moment vividly. I don't remember how much of the story I followed, but this moment here shook me to my core. Not just the number of blankets, but the different sizes too. That first one on the left... Never before or since has a game shook me that badly. I legit had to stop playing for ten minutes just to ward off the shock.
"Waltuh, put your dynamite away... The only thing you're gonna do, is you're gonna go to Berghman tunnel and you're gonna put the fuse in for the secret door, and then you're gonna leave."
Wait, I just realised that those glowing mushrooms which were said to be a species only found in Stahlburg, are a result of that meteo accident involving all that uranium.
Lmao @ 1:27:50 is a reference to the Demon Core Incident. One of the *dumbest* nuclear accidents in American history. Edit: oop I commented before watching the rest, it's a whole bit lol
The ventilation shaft with the roof on top to the bunker is actually wery realistic ,to how the post ww2 civil defence and military bunkers was done when i comes to ventilation. Heavy bomb proof concrete roofs with ventilation openings along the top walls. and blast wave filters down in the shafts. I have been down in to a( now filled in) railway transformer bunker that had a very similar Exhaust structure. Question could you do a video with no clip on some environments in the game at one point ? It would be interesting to see the city scape/ streets for example. Intresting with the deamon core ester egg i think they used wooden cheels in to keep it from closing and reach criticallety in real lifte. There were lead ingots stacked as a shield around it when they did experiments with it ,the core was closed At least 2 times by accident killing several people .
The fact that everything originally was so well put together makes it even sadder to see things fallen into disarray. It's not only the Half-Life nostalgia, but also the resemblance to the real world which makes this game meaningful.
you might be my favourite youtube ever, seriously, your approach to literally anything and everything is the best approach possible. i cannot thank you enough for making videos, in general. it happens to be almost 4 in the morning, and i’m unable to sleep, watching this video on my terrible and old tv, while working on a writing piece , and i swear your way of noting things and analyzing them inspires the way i’m writing. this feels like the best way i could watch. may you be happy and well today, sir!
1:28:00 - Scientists referred to this flirting with the possibility of a nuclear chain reaction as "tickling the dragon's tail", based on a remark by physicist Richard Feynman, who compared the experiments to "tickling the tail of a sleeping dragon"
There is an eater egg... In the area where you are about to go down the fenicular this is an easter egg that is from the beer master and allows you to drink the beer in the area.
Annnnnd I'm already eagerly awaiting the next episode. Your reaction upon finding the bodies was very cinematic lol. I didn't even realize what we were looking at for a few beats
1:00:30 I actually tried a similar challenge the other day, since there _are_ a few items you can traverse various maps with. In order of levels: * There is nothing you can take with you from the office. Additionally, the truck is a _teleportation_ changelevel and cannot preserve items. * Extra fuse at Hammer Valley Dam entry area: The raft ride is tricky (if you pick up a physics object while riding the raft or tram, it's yeeted into space), but it's possible to get it all the way to the end of Chapter 5. If you're _actively holding it_ during the end-of-level cutscene, it _may_ be preserved (no guarantees, it's random), in which case you can take it as far as the train station, but I couldn't find a single way to retain it from there. * Various bricks and cans: If you're determined enough, you can get from Stalburg Central Waterplant to End of Chapter 7. A _thing_ happens during that changelevel that makes it impossible to carry items, and the zone doesn't preserve entities like walking-through changelevels do. * The shroom-infested teddy bear: I'm actually not sure _how_ you got it out of there, as you're supposed to use _all three_ (and there's only three) shroom-infested items to escape the SNW Bunker. *You're going to lose it at the End of Chapter 7 changelevel,* as I mentioned. * Start of Chapter 8, you can carry assorted junk objects for the rest of the chapter, but End of Chapter 8 is another vehicle changelevel you can't bring items through. * Start of Chapter 9, all further changelevels are normal walking-based ones. The last level of Chapter 9 _might_ not let you carry items through the level, haven't tested. But if you can, you can carry an item all the way to End of Chapter 10 (which then teleport-changelevels you to an Ending).
45:00 "It's just some scrap metal I can use to build my apartment in Obenseuer..." So glad I'm not the _only_ one that kept feeling that when I replayed Infra after playing Obenseuer... considering all the models they have in common.
oh thank you thank you thank you for releasing these videos they help me while im here laying in bad being sick. you made me buy this game since the time i first saw you play it and i beat it in 7 hours. thanks again
Perfect timing hahhah, Just finished Infra 20 minutes ago because of your videos, and god, what an amazing game that is. Very very much looking forward to the rest of your playthrough now!
"there's the house, the rental unit and the car." 😆🤣 6:51 Game just became seriously DARK. 1:10:49 I love your dbl-take at 1:22:18 and the way it just caught you off guard. 🤣 "Prestidigitation"; what a crazy, fancy way to say "magic tricks" basically. 1:28:11
I think I need to replay this. I didn't connect the power plant to network. so missed that bunker stuff and I think it also effect what else I did miss afterwards.
INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA INFRA Hell yeah, brother.
It’s just an inclined elevator, not a funicular. Funiculars require 2 cars which travel opposite to each other, and are attached at the topmost point via a cable and pulley system. I don’t see that in the bunker.
It may be nothing but I can't help but wonder if the door code was a slight fallout reference since there is so much about radiation in the bunker in fallout the nuclear apocalypse happened in 2077
Yeah, I don't think I ever found Walter's office or any of those revelations here. I can't believe I completed the game without ever seeing any of that. And then there's the vice-versa of it: I'm sure I've been in places you haven't in this series. Edit: You also took that mushroom infested Teddy bear on an adventure?! 😃 I also tried to bring it with me for as long as possible 😅
so I watched this game get played so long ago i don remember any of it except this room at 22:15, I think it wa SSoHKPC that I watched, that guy doesnt upload anymore and I kinda miss his videos... also imagine if this game got a faithful yet very subtlly tweaked remake would make this game ever so more pretty.
I LOVE your content! Especially the infra series! You should make your own game as well! I have a idea for a game you could make! My idea is: You are a candle in an American household inside a kid's bedroom during a blackout in the night, during 1994, and monsters are lurking in the darkness, coming out of the closet and windows, your goal is to shine light on these monsters by clicking on them with your mouse and to not let them reach the kid until sunrise. When you shine light on a monster, it returns to which spawn point it came from. You can check the time on a digital alarm clock the kid has, and when it reaches 6:00 you win, and sometimes multiple monsters will spawn. If you shine light on one monster and make it return to where it came from while another monster(s) is in the room, the other monster(s) will rush towards you and attempt to destroy you, you need to shine light on it quickly before it reaches you. There will be different types of monsters, slow ones, fast ones, and attackers, the slow ones are big and bulky, meanwhile the fast ones are small and compact, and the attackers are huge, fast and do not target the child, instead they immediately target you and start rushing towards you. When a monster reaches the kid, they will grab the kid and pull him into the spawn they came from (A window or the closet) and screams will come from the closet and a game over screen will appear. If you make it to 6:00 when the sun rises, the lights will turn on because the blackout ended, and a game win screen will appear. A cool name for it could be "Candle in the dark" or something like that.
I bought this game after seeing the first episode...and honestly ive been more invested watching the game than playing it myself..side note im terrible at the puzzles

Boy, am I glad I'm dead inside. Otherwise, that first body on the left would've destroyed me. :D
41:16 Seems like this could have been Walter's hiding spot for some time since he probably escaped the military men.
he is taking pictures of structural damage in the bunker because if it collapses it will take whatever is above it with it.
"Waltuh, put your dynamite away...
The only thing you're gonna do, is you're gonna go to Berghman tunnel
and you're gonna put the fuse in for the secret door, and then you're gonna leave."
The code for the sleeping quarters door is 2077. The year of the Great War in the Fallout. Pretty ironic.
The moment I saw the ball in a half sphere and a screwdriver near it I knew that it's a death trap
Funny thing about the code for the lab wing in that big secret underground laboratory, 2077 is the year the bombs fell in Fallout
Their is nothing belter than falling asleep while listening to the Libran commentate my favourite game

Wait, I just realised that those glowing mushrooms which were said to be a species only found in Stahlburg, are a result of that meteo accident involving all that uranium.
They actually let you recreate the demon core incident. That's something only a very detail-oriented dev team would include.

51:00 it looks like you didn't even try pointing the camera at this after reading it...? Hopefully you remembered off-camera
It’s just an inclined elevator, not a funicular. Funiculars require 2 cars which travel opposite to each other, and are attached at the topmost point via a cable and pulley system. I don’t see that in the bunker.
43:27 you missed a photo here!
You forgot to take a photo of those documents in the secret room after you open them all up
It may be nothing but I can't help but wonder if the door code was a slight fallout reference since there is so much about radiation in the bunker in fallout the nuclear apocalypse happened in 2077
Love your stuff, best part of my day!
Based on a true story in every major city.
7:04 the dog is clearly that crow
1:17:02 "thats why i love this f'ing game"
i too plaued it and i share ur sentiments
bro plays hearts of iron, nice. also my condolences. also Finland is one of my top 3 nations in hoi4 as well.
Yeah!!! Another Infra video.
YEAH MORE INFRA LETS GOOO
INFRA MY BELOVED. 1 AND A HALF HOURS?? LET'S GO..

This is INFRA!
Seems i reloaded my home page just in time
10:45 That would be May 2, 1973. Day-Month-Year.
He enters the bunker...
so I watched this game get played so long ago i don remember any of it except this room at 22:15, I think it wa SSoHKPC that I watched, that guy doesnt upload anymore and I kinda miss his videos... also imagine if this game got a faithful yet very subtlly tweaked remake would make this game ever so more pretty.
1:10:46 Oh... my... god.
This game really should have made an option to auto-run or toggle sprint
24:57 'What's in your wallet?'
I hope this game get crazer
Yay new infra video!
