Edward such a great guy and good actor, he had an amazing list of character he's played throughout the 90's, was in all time great films. Man time flies by, he is 21 years of age in this interview and now he's 45, but l still love him and love most of his movie, just always rooting for him.
Edward left a long and lasting impression on me. I miss him and the depth he inevitably brought to all of his characters, whether he meant to or not he’s one of those very rare ppl who come along once in a lifetime. We sure don’t see enough of him and I sure wish he was doing more movies today.
Man this guy has all the talent on the world. You'd get lost looking in those eyes. Unfortunately people like that always have the most troubled souls.
I honestly think that he wanted to be a "troubled person". He would be too bored to be without drugs. And remember, world fame at the age of 13, huge salary--it will go to everyone's "head", if you know what I mean...
So true a very powerful movie and to think they are people to this day getting lost in Race hate, this movie teaches that its all Bullshit and a waste of time.
My room used to be covered in posters of Eddie furlong. I was even that geek that signed up for the fan club. I bought every teen magazine he was on the cover of. Despite the drugs and past troubles, he's still an incredibly talented guy. We all go through things in life and often end up on detour paths we never would have imagined. I think the relationship with his tutor probably fueled a lot of what came after. As we know, society tends to look at inappropriate relationships between grown women and young boys differently because America = love of patriarchy. One of the first things I learned about Edward was he shares my dad's birthday which means he's a Leo. If you know anything about August Leo's, I think you'll find you understand him more than you thought. I hope he continues with sobriety. I'd love to see him in another movie again someday. ❤

I wonder if he realized just how special he was. You couldn't hear him as well as you heard the interviewer. I have to say he interviewed very well he knows exactly what to say and in a decent manner.
Unfortunately external beauty is oftentimes nature’s way of disguising a person’s internal turmoil. I’m aware that Edward Furlong, himself, spoke out about constantly being typecast as the archetypal sad character, so much so that director John Waters actually approached him asking if he could actually even smile. When he saw that he could, Waters subsequently cast Furlong in his 1998 movie, Pecker, right then and there. I’ve always followed Furlong’s career and rooted for him both on and offscreen. I hope he continues his winning streak in terms of his battle against addiction and manages to keep his frown upside down.
Some background on what Bobbie Wygant asked Edward Furlong about Tony Kaye... American History X was budgeted for $20 million. Before the film's release, Kaye disagreed with the film studio about the final cut of the film. The final version was longer than Kaye intended, which resulted in him publicly disowning the film; thus negatively affecting his directing career.
