I love how the Abrasive Side is that scratchy part of a kitchen sponge, it works for the story but also acknowledges Spongebob is a sponge, which hardly ever happens in the newer episodes.
"The Bully" is also relatable in another way - teachers just don't help you and don't see that someone is bullying you. And after all, bully didn't get punished at all. Instead you are punished for standing up for yourself, so basically, you can't do nothing against it. And I think that I am not the only one who experienced this in elementary school.
I know someone who in elementary got bullied and one time they got put in a chicken coop for an hour and guess what the teachers didn’t help at ALL. (I actually don’t know about the end bit though)
My entire class *including the teacher* called me names for the whole school year… It was only after a random teacher during recess saw me running away from two of my class mates, crying as I always do when I’m called that name, and basically told the two people to “fuck off and leave the kid alone”, she didn’t say that but that’s basically what she meant. She’s my fucking savior during that school… No I’m not telling anyone of you this, because I can’t trust the internet.
Fun fact: The show's creator, Stephen Hillenburg, was a marine biologist. When he pitched the show to Nickelodeon, he brought a fish tank into the boardroom, and explained what was living inside. He then placed a cartoon drawing of SpongeBob into the tank and said "This is SpongeBob, the star of your new show."
There was an episode in Season 6 ("Overbooked") that I relate to on a personal level, when SpongeBob tried to be "in three places at once" to support his friends, and overextended himself so he wouldn't disappoint them. Also, I felt _very_ seen by "Best Day Ever." As an Autistic person, I often become frustrated at changes in plans. I especially relate to the part when SpongeBob reached his breaking point because his day didn't go as planned, and his friends reminded him that his day was meaningful because of the good he puts out in the world. I find episodes like "The Card," "Appointment T.V," "The Pink Purloiner," "Bummer Vacation," "Missing Identity," and "Picture Day" relatable for the same reason.
Something I just want to point out with Patrick in Rock Bottom. While he does objectively screw up at Spongebob's expense, we do see him genuinely trying to make things right at the very end of the episode (as we saw in the video). That is something he DOESN'T do when he's at his worst as a character. I think it shows that while the mistake was his infantile brand of bone-headed, it was an honest, forgivable one.
Another note about day/night from rock bottom to the sandy ocean floor near Spongebobs house is probably because rock bottom is supposed to be a deep ocean trench, and the deeper you go into the ocean, the less light there is. It's probably the same day when Spongebob gets back, but the depth difference accounts for the light difference. At least, that's how I thought of it.
Pizza Delivery is honestly my favorite Squidward-involved episode, it shows that even though he finds Spongebob annoying and can barely tolerate him most times, a part of him still cares for his co-worker and neighbor and won't let Spongebob get pushed around by others
He treats SpongeBob like a younger brother. Yes, he's annoying to Squidward, and Squidward often teases or insults SpongeBob, but HOW DARE anyone else feel like they should get to do that.
I remember one time in art college watching some SpongeBob with my roommates, and we related heavily to Squidward in "Artist Unknown". Just someone spending years mastering a discipline only to be shown up by a prodigy with no known history in it, an art enthusiast showing up and effectively calling your work garbage, your best work being completely unintentional. It felt so real to us.
I think "Grandma's Kisses" is another very relatable episode. I'm sure some of us at some point have felt that our friends or other people would see us as "babies" just because we love our families and have tried acting more grown up, only to end up not liking the treatment we get for acting more mature.
Though, a nitpick of mine, but I didn't like how the people, including Squidward, were still laughing at SpongeBob like bullies at him hugging and loving his grandmother at the end, as you'd think that at the finale, they would get the message of the episode, making them think about their own families and instead be all "Aww" at SpongeBob and his grandmother loving each other.
@@spydersoup8447 Oh, no question! The way that episode ends, among other things, puts it rather high in my pre-movie SpongeBob shitlist. Even as a child, that ending had me like "Oh, 🐬 you guys"
I can understand SpongeBob's struggle to stand up for himself in "The Abrasive Side". Sometimes you just feel like you need to keep the peace and not cause a scene, and it ends up at the expense of your own well-being. It's hard to figure out a balance between keeping the peace and seeing that your own needs are met.
I think the most relatable Spongebob episode is called "Artist Unknown" which it's about Spongebob going to Squidward's art class. I think the episode recalls on how to express our creativity and deal with criticism as an artist. There is a channel called Made2express who covered the topic of the episode perfectly. He has some meaningful and philosophical takes on cartoon shows. His motto is: _"EXPRESSION, NOT IMPRESSION."_
Personally, one of the most relatable episodes to me is the one where Sandy is about to leave Bikini Bottom to go back to Texas. It reminds me of when my high school friend Collin left me because his father was in the Navy and constantly moved throughout the country every 6 months. As much as I wouldn't go out and insult him to get him to stay, I understand not wanting to let someone you appreciate go.
I can definitely relate to that episode. I was adopted at birth (born in Texas of all places) and had a falling out with my adoptive parents a few years ago. Before I left, I constantly had the "I wanna go home" song stuck in my head. Eventually, I want to meet my biological mother. I've had a draw to Texas for as long as I can remember.
I found the episode "I had an accident" on Agoraphobia somewhat weird, since having to have been homeschooled most of my life the outside is something I never really saw as a necessity, there's time when I think of being inside my home for the rest of my life, just ordering food when I need it and talking to loved ones virtually on skype and such, but I decided that being outside lets you not just meet new people and see places, but also helps you connect more to the world, seeing that there's more to life than the small place you live in, I truly thank Stephen Hillenburg for this episode, and of course I thank you phantom.
I still have "I have an abrasive side, an abrasive side, an abrasive side" running through my head as an earworm... I think we just got our number 11.. great video honey 😀
I can't remember the title, but I think that the episode about Squidward's "happiest memory" should at least be an honorable mention. Sometimes you just feel lost in the void of society. Sometimes you just lose track of everything in your life, from memories, to friends, to family, even to emotions. Sometimes you find yourself in an emotionless slump, and feeling just about ANYTHING is all it takes to get out of it.
I still don't understand this view even as a grown ass adult. Even back in the old seasons he was a bit too bitter, a bit too self centered, a bit too narcissistic. I just don't get it.
@@TheKabuto90 I understand your perspective. Looking back, I see that the relateable parts of Squidward come out when he has to play “the straight man” trope to the extremes of SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr.K, and usually the ‘extras’ of the show. His sarcasm too. I don’t relate to those narcissistic traits. I do like my self care, and while he is sometimes a parody of the person who indulges in self-care, his desire for peace is usually warranted. What he wants most of all is to be alone, and as an introvert, I get it.
I think that's always something I adored about Spongebob. It feels like there's something in the show for everyone. Also, I always loved that scene in Pizza Delivery when Squidward throws the pizza in the customer's face after he refused to pay for the pizza because of the drink. As someone who works in the restaurant business, I've wanted to do that to SO MANY customers like the guy getting the pizza in that episode.
Just wanna point this out, this content is helping me get through minor depression. My parents keep fighting, with my dad contemplating staying at a hotel for a while, and my grandfather is really sick. Just the other day he got diagnosed with skin cancer. These videos make me laugh and are gettin me through tough times. And for that, I just wanna say thank you Phantomstrider.
I'm sorry for what you're going through right now Zer0. It is my privelege to be of some assistance in this difficult time for you. I'm wishing the best for you in the future. I hope you can still find calm, strength, and some peace in these difficult times. Best wishes.
There's actually two instances where Gary is used as a record player. The first one is from the shoe tying episode early in the series. Yay continuity!
The ear worm episode in spongebob definitely reminds me of the episode “This is my jam” from regular show, where Mordecai and Rigby found an old cassette tape call summertime loving, loving in the summertime, when they were cleaning the gutter. When Rigby puts the tape in. Mordecai was cringe of the song while Rigby was just dancing along to it until he just hate it, only for him to start singing and the song was stuck in his head. (literally) So story short Mordecai, Rigby and their friends all band together and destroyed the cassette tape.
I give all of the respect to the SpongeBob movie for turning Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” into a song about liking a dancing peanut and being proud of it
I would be a jerk too if I was constantly harassed by someone after telling them to go away. Or constantly hearing annoying noises everytime I want to relax.
@@themovieminor 🎶 We've got a manly flare We've got the stuff, we're tough enough to save the day🎶 I swear, that is one catchy song from the original SpongeBob movie. 😊
The 'Listen to the song again fully' trick if you have an earworm is really helpful. Again, like Strider said, it is usually a single part of the song. But because your brain can't remember the rest, it creates the earworm, looping the same part over and over to try and get you to remember the next line to finish it off. By listening to the song fully once more, your brain will finally hear the finished lyrics and be happy. And while the song may be stuck in your head, it will either be a longer version, meaning you remember more and so it'll be easier to remember the rest and it'll pass much quicker, or you memorised the full thing so you can just complete and be on your way.
SpongeBob is definitely a super relatable character! Inspongeniac, Procrastination, and Roller Cowards all perfectly capture different aspects of my own anxiety struggles (I actually agree with your take on SpongeBob possibly having it too). I also found Abrasive Side (and Squirrel Jokes to an extent) relatable as well as a people pleaser who has trouble saying no. Such a wonderful cartoon, my stepdad and I often watch it together while we eat lunch :3
@Nisa Suharni It's a beautiful day in this world, watching videos like this here video, reading comments like this comment here, on days like theses, bots/scammers like you...... should be burning in hell.
Off topic but I love how strider and boo mess around in-between the entries, thats a thing most lists don't have and I really enjoy it, it reminds me that you aren't just an average narrator, keep up the great work
I can certainly relate to the main point in the Spongebob movie: I'm now 25 years old and I still like to watch cartoons, like the 2012 version of the ninja turtles and one about fairies versus witches called Winx Club. I like watching those shows because they both gave me inspiration for my drawing skills: I draw characters from those shows and I give them out to kids and I feel proud knowing that my creativity can make kids happy. And if it makes kids happy, then it makes me happy too.
Right. Similarly, I would still keep my adoration towards to Jake and the Never Land Pirates/Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates alive back when I am a Young Boy while at the same time, finally becoming able to like Manhunt 2 by Rockstar Games as I get older because of well, you know what I mean.
As someone with gad, i honestly relate to spongebob in earlier seasons whenever he shows signs of fear over things, even silly little things. It's a surprising way of coping lol
Great video strider! I was missing these SpongeBob videos! The most relatable one for me was Procrastination. I procrastinate a LOT during tests and quizzes. Some tips I have for procrastination is to silent your phone and try to put it far away from you. Try to minimize distraction by going to a quiet, distraction free place.
The abrasive side episode used to creep me out as a kid. I remember having nightmares about it. Not exactly scary, just made me really anxious and nervous. Looking back on it, I relate it it quite a lot. Even today, I can’t say no to people
I can relate to Sandy because if I was separated from my homeland Texas I would be singing on my rooftop about me being homesick. No Texan should ever have to be separated like that
Fun Fact: The SpongeBob movie does take place at the end of the SpongeBob timeline because Stephen Hillenburg intended the movie to be The Series Finale to SpongeBob. Stephen wanted spongebob to end after the first movie because he didn't want the series to decline in quality. But nickelodeon didn't want to let spongebob go.
To me I would put the episode Big Pink Loser on here. Because there was always a thing that your friend has that you don’t have, whether it’s the newest toy, or like in the episode an award. And you not having it makes you feel less special then them, and eventually you might get the thing you want. Which would make you happy, and then there is something else you want it’s like a never ending cycle. So I relate to that episode, and thank you Phantom Strider for making this video I love your videos.
Spongebob is very popular in Japan as a sort of rebellious role model. Compared to the Japanese who are usually quiet and reserved, Spongebob is loud and outgoing.
The most relatable one on this list was the one with the rotten side of Spongebob, where he lashes out at everyone. Sometimes, somedays, it feels like everyone is out to ruin your life, but you can't do or say anything because your too scared. Watching Spongebob finally stand up to the people around him was extremely satisfying.
The most relatable episodes for me for the longest time was the learning to drive episodes. I didn't get my license until I was 21 because I had a major fear of driving and the anxiety spongebob would get made me feel less alone about my fears of driving.
I'm not sure what it is, but there's just a certain love and care that you put into this that I don't really see in other channels. I'm not big on SpongeBob, Lego, or most of these other topics that you've been focusing on lately, but I still look forward to each video that comes out. Those skits between topics go a long way for me in making me want to come back, if only to see you and Boo just hang out. It's such a genuine, charming, adorable friendship that I NEVER see anywhere else.
As a writer with executive dysfunction (side effect of neurological conditions such as autism/asperger's, ADHD, etc. that results in problems with things such as starting or focusing on tasks), these are the main things that have helped me: -listening to video game music helps with focus since it's meant to be listened to while completing a task -having a decent way to track your progress--saying I've written 1000 words of a 5000 word essay doesn't really mean too much to me, but saying that I'm 20% done makes it feel like I'm actually progressing -take breaks. I personally use the pomodoro technique whenever I'm needing to focus for a long period without burning out (15-25 minutes of work with a 5 minute break; repeat that about four times and then take a half hour break), and if you're in a flow, you can skip over the breaks if you need (I do recommend taking the half hour breaks to get up and stretch, though)
The fact that spongebob manages to stay so happy and in tune with himself. The fact that hes been working in the same place for like 15 years and isnt jaded? Its great!
30:10 not only do I relate to not being able to speak coherently half the time, I love that you called the burger a krusty krab. If i had a nickel for every joked I've botched due to saying the punchline before the joke, I'd have enough money to buy American gasoline.
Has any one ever told you that you give off Steve from Blue's Clues vibes? It's pretty calming actually. I think it's one of the reasons I like your videos so much 😌
The insomniac one is definitely the most relatable to me. I’ve had sleeping problems since I was a kid and I learned what it was called from this episode. I’ve also ruminated like he did in the episode. Now I take melatonin and drink chamomile to help me sleep. Meditating helps as well. He probably went to talk to Patrick because Patrick sleeps a lot lol.
Being 25 going on 26 I still love kids stuff. Probably for nostalgia or it was something to talk about when I was in school. I went from a middle school student who thought that she's too old for cartoons and started watching anime, to someone who made everyone laugh by playing the plastic treasure chest scene and making cartoon references with people around my age. That's because of what I finally learned from my highschool days. I finally learned not to give a freak of what people think! Embrace myself and my interests. Because of that I made so many friends and have my summer booked up thanks to the community production of "SpongeBob the musical!"
This is why Spongebob is good for all ages. Enjoyable for all, especially kids. A way to cope for adults and teens. And adult jokes to laugh at as adults and teens.
@@jonahabenhaim1223 The thing is, SpongeBob has been on the air for so long now that it tends to repeat and reuse some of it's old ideas just for the sake of having new episodes out. I mean, it says a LOT that the show now has 2 different spin off series airing along side it as well, that while I haven't personally checked them out, I've heard less than flattering things said about them. But I feel like any series that has been around as long as SpongeBob, such as the Simpsons, for example, will inevitably have had it's fair share of ups and downs over the years, which just makes it a testament to not just how popular the show is, but how good it has the potential to be at it's best
The episode with Spogebob writing an essay, hits me hard, sometimes I found it hard to get the words onto papir. It did me good to listen to music, mostly rock like Skillet and Rammstein, but pop music and more relaxing music helped too. Great video Strider, keep it up
8:04 hey, it's DarkStrider! How've you been, pally? But yeah, there were quite a few episodes that have ressonated with me quite a bit, like the one where Spongy has to write a report for his boating school, but is constantly getting distracted. On my worst days, that's me in a nutshell. Never saw the insomnia episode, but if I had watched it when I was a kid, I would certainly find it super relatable... still kinda do, honestly. Thanks a lot for the very good advice :) And yeah, the relatability of the movie was one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.
Sandy: *peels the abrasive side of SpongeBob* SpongeBob: *yells in pain* Sandy: *puts the abrasive side in a box* My mom: Jeez send that thing to doodle bob.
You know, I’ve always found it strange Mr. Krabs never put more Krusty Krabs around the ocean because that would make him the richest crab in the sea. Like who’s to say fishes of Rock Bottom wouldn’t like there sandwiches, everyone else in Bikini Bottom does, probably because he could be considered the worst boss in the world and no one would work for him, but still, just imagine how much he could make from millions of Krusty Krabs around the ocean
Every single time Strider puts on a new video I get so excited. Thanks so much for your videos you make me and your whole community very happy to watch and see your content.
the Rock Bottom episode is INCREDIBLY real for me. I take the bus a lot, I don't have a car and can't afford to Uber everywhere, and the amount of times I've just gotten stranded at some random bus stop in the dark AND rain is insane
I relate to the Earworm episode so much considering I love music and have a tendency to get A LOT of songs stuck in my head, and you gave pretty good advice on how to combat earworm. My advice would also be to listen to other songs that are just as catchy that you like. Yeah...I agree with you on the Number 1. I'm a furry and a gamer...enough said. Nah, but for real, though, there's no shame in having "juvenile" interests and you shouldn't let people gaslight you in to thinking there's something to be ashamed about. Play games, watch cartoons, appreciate art, use technology, etc...just do whatever makes you happy. =^.^=
I love Spongebob! Whether I've been a kid or an adult, he's always been so relatable to me and has never failed to make me laugh or cheer me up when I was feeling down! Also, that Number 1 pick was quite the curveball!
I finally cracked why i like your energy so much. Its calming and feels like Steve from blues clues. The juggling, the kindness, its very warm and welcoming.
Great list as always, Stridey! About the episode “Rock Bottom”, I have my own Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss character named Lisa Cooper. She ends up in the Pride Ring of Hell and is very anxious after dying at the age of 27 as a reference to the urban legend known as “The 27 Club”. So yeah, just like how SpongeBob felt in Rock Bottom. 24:36 *gasps* Did you just say “fanny”? You naughty boy!! That word is also British slag for a woman’s secret sushi cave! I know you didn’t mean it! I’m just throwing that out there! XD Jokes aside, there is not shame in how you feel about roller coasters, Stridey. You don’t need to feel bad about it. You are not a coward and you never have been one. :) 32:56 Cute Sonic plushie! :D
Your list is so true to life. Always like your SpongeBob lists. I knew that this video is going to be professionally realistic in terms of "Relatability" Keep up the good work strider. Good choices for relatable episodes. Even the special surprise of putting the first SpongeBob movie on the list as the #1 spot.
Honestly, number one to me when I actually thought about everything is the most relatable. I know not everyone will care why but here goes. I'm a 22-year-old guy that loves things like Spongebob, Star Wars, Marvel, Anime, Lego, and video games. Recently, I've gotten back into re-watching Ben 10, it's in my top 5 of things I love, yet at times I was called out by family members and my step-dad who told me to grow up and stop buying that crap, and be a man. They've since understood that at my pace I am still growing and the things I enjoy I keep to myself by basically having it all in my room and not bothering my family that doesn't enjoy what I do. The only person that doesn't understand still is my dad, who I haven't seen in almost 5 years, I talked to him around Christmas, but that's because my Granddad was talking to him and gave me the phone. Heck, I remember the last time I saw him, he talked to me about the things I enjoy and my weight and I've been attempting to lose weight even before that time.
Roller Cowards is just too relatable to me. Before 2016, I wouldn’t go on even family coasters. Eventually, with the help of friends and family, I worked my way up and now I can ride coasters 300 feet tall. Speaking of which, the night before my first ride on the roller coaster Orion at Kings Island, I watched Roller Cowards cause I connect with SpongeBob and Patrick in that episode. I now really love roller coasters and now, I’m trying to go on as many as possible. Thanks SpongeBob. Also, the chocolate guy’s name is Tom
Also can I just say, the number 1 spot is my entire goddamn relationship with Fortnite. I used to play it when I was younger, but now I don't play it at all! Because in my (And what probably what used to be everyone's) eyes, it was kids stuff. And thus in the gaming community, it was looked down upon as cold, hard, *cringe.* And yet it looked so fun, exciting, cool looking, and just overall temping. I'm still wondering if I should play it again after so long or not to this day.
Ikr? As much as love Josh I do miss the times where he talks about his top 10/5 best & worst Movies, TV shows & anything related to pop culture. All & all still my favorite.👌
I make what subscribers show interest in 🙂 And nowadays, viewers show much less interest when I review animated movies 'n such. Nowadays, Spark seems to be what people want when it comes to animated movies. So I just do what subscribers actually tune in for. Which is spongey and lego 🙂
As someone who went through 5 years of college, I find Procrastination to easily be the most relatable episode in the series. It's especially so when we all had to shift to online courses. Also, that chair was and still is f*cking terrifying
I don't think Strider mentions it, but Patrick does go back for SpongeBob at the end of Rock Bottom, so either him going on the bus and he didn't think the bus would leave so soon, or he thought maybe he could get help from above rock bottom, and my theory is for the rest of the episode, Patrick is trying to find a bus to Rock bottom to get SpongeBob out of the place, but as we saw, he was a bit too late. Still a great list though!
Nice twist with using the SpongeBob movie as an entry, also I found the relatable episodes in the early seasons don’t really focus on what makes the relatable, instead the plot that relates to it.
@Nisa Suharni This is a spongebob list, and it has nothing, I repeat noting to do with your pathetic use of a onlyfans sponsor, so go away and never come back again!
Okay but the fact of the abrasive sponge episode SCREAMS to me. I know what it’s like to be pushed around and used for others benefits, and up until I was 17, I continued to let it all happen. Now I’ve got much more of a backbone at the age of nearly 22, but now everybody thinks I’m too much of a bitch. Really, I don’t think there’s much of a real way to “win”. Either you’re a pushover or a jerk. At least in society’s eyes.
I can relate to number 8. I have this dark side of me that's aggressive. I feel like I should have hatred over my teachers and stuff at school for not standing up for me. I just don't know how to control it
It might sound cliché, but have you ever tried guided meditation? Some of them actually teach you that your thoughts are normal, and you're not a terrible person unless you act on them. Doing research on intrusive thoughts might also help, and if you're able to I'd talk to a health care professional if you think it might be related to something more serious.
I can relate to the spongebob movie. you see when I turned 13 I thought that being childish is wrong but then years later I realised that shutting down my childish side was not good for me att all. I only became a shell of the person I used to be, so I embraced my childish side and was not afraid to show my childish side anymore.
As someone who gets anxious at the thought of just going to a theme park because I'm worried about someone pressuring me to go on a rollercoaster, I can really relate to #2.
I also found myself relating to what Strider had to say about that topic. I'll admit that I'm not as afraid of rollercoasters as him, but they aren't exactly my idea of "fun" personally, and they never have been
I really got to say: My favorite part of procrastination is when his chair comes to life and creeps him out (that is my relatable part of this episode), I didn't realize until you said that his chair wants him to have a seat that this relates to more of the topic of the episode. One of the many things I consider the Pizza episode my favorite is the falling action with the grouchy customer yelling at SpongeBob for an alleged drink he didn't get, making him cry. Hey, another relatable moment is dealing with the angry customer. I have something relatable about the Earworm episode, and that is playing a certain part of a song, or a video over and over again. I would play a certain part of your videos or others to experience joy of thinking good things to me or other relatable things for such more good. Or having a hard time trying to break an unhealthy habit. I was hoping you would put the episode "The Bully" on the list somewhere, which I think is a highly relatable topic. Glad its on the honorable mentions. Which I think that episode also is really funny because as a kid I always thought "kicking his butt" meant literally kicking him in the butt with his foot. Plus, have you ever seen a bully chase someone running in a garbage can, while the bully is driving a garbage truck? Then the banana peel is there for the truck to slip on and flip over. Good point about Spongie and the Rock Bottom incident. Which that episode came out in 2000. Technology has expanded over the last 22 years. But what made such a simple idea work is the really funny part of the bus refusing to pick Spongie up and keeps ditching him, even cartoonish the vending machine part with the kelp krunch bar representing the gas petal. I was expecting the first spot being something about the quarantining like the almost 2 year old covid 19 pandemic, but hey, glad you mentioned the message from the first SpongeBob movie. Which I think is the most relatable one too. For me.
I love how the Abrasive Side is that scratchy part of a kitchen sponge, it works for the story but also acknowledges Spongebob is a sponge, which hardly ever happens in the newer episodes.
I always feel like there is a dark side in me but my conscience and good nature keeps it at bay
What are you talking about? His squash and stretch physics are there, and his regeneration.
@goofball That's true, and it always bugs me when they're referred to as "human" when they very clearly aren't!
@@orcaman1353 crawling in my skiiin!1!1! These wounds they never healll!1!1!1
Yeah that is INCREDIBLY funny 🤣
"The Bully" is also relatable in another way - teachers just don't help you and don't see that someone is bullying you. And after all, bully didn't get punished at all. Instead you are punished for standing up for yourself, so basically, you can't do nothing against it. And I think that I am not the only one who experienced this in elementary school.
I know someone who in elementary got bullied and one time they got put in a chicken coop for an hour and guess what the teachers didn’t help at ALL. (I actually don’t know about the end bit though)
That happens to me all the time
My entire class *including the teacher* called me names for the whole school year…
It was only after a random teacher during recess saw me running away from two of my class mates, crying as I always do when I’m called that name, and basically told the two people to “fuck off and leave the kid alone”, she didn’t say that but that’s basically what she meant.
She’s my fucking savior during that school…
No I’m not telling anyone of you this, because I can’t trust the internet.
Yea I hit my bullies in elementary and got in trouble for it
100% yes
Fun fact:
The show's creator, Stephen Hillenburg, was a marine biologist. When he pitched the show to Nickelodeon, he brought a fish tank into the boardroom, and explained what was living inside.
Personally, I'd like to see the episode from Patrick's perspective. How he handled abandoning his best friend in a strange town like that.

Pizza Delivery is honestly my favorite Squidward-involved episode, it shows that even though he finds Spongebob annoying and can barely tolerate him most times, a part of him still cares for his co-worker and neighbor and won't let Spongebob get pushed around by others
Mine too
He treats SpongeBob like a younger brother. Yes, he's annoying to Squidward, and Squidward often teases or insults SpongeBob, but HOW DARE anyone else feel like they should get to do that.
Because SpongeBob is younger he's 35 well squidward's 47
Squidward was like "NOBODY PUSHES AROUND SPONGEBOB BUT ME!"
Yup. That and Band Geeks peak the Squidward charts, but I don't think it's possible to say one's better than the other
I remember one time in art college watching some SpongeBob with my roommates, and we related heavily to Squidward in "Artist Unknown". Just someone spending years mastering a discipline only to be shown up by a prodigy with no known history in it, an art enthusiast showing up and effectively calling your work garbage, your best work being completely unintentional. It felt so real to us.
I agree
☝🏿

I’ve resorted to being passive aggressive when people push me around. Give ‘‘em a bit of shit without exploding
couldn't have said it better.

Hitler could have related to that episode, too
Personally, one of the most relatable episodes to me is the one where Sandy is about to leave Bikini Bottom to go back to Texas.
EXERCISE.
I had an accident is relateable to me as I have social anxiety now and had it as a child too.

Hi! You guys are a cute couple!
I think the episode "Grandma Kisses "Is very releatable too! Because it represents that we are leaving childhood and entering adulthood!
The episode's name is "Are You Happy Now?", just in case you're wondering. Strider has it as #2 on his "Top 10 Darkest SpongeBob Episodes" video.

I still don't understand this view even as a grown ass adult. Even back in the old seasons he was a bit too bitter, a bit too self centered, a bit too narcissistic. I just don't get it.
@@TheKabuto90 Right?.

"Help Wanted" is a great motivating episode for getting done work that we may fear to complete at first
The ear worm episode in spongebob definitely reminds me of the episode “This is my jam” from regular show, where Mordecai and Rigby found an old cassette tape call summertime loving, loving in the summertime, when they were cleaning the gutter. When Rigby puts the tape in. Mordecai was cringe of the song while Rigby was just dancing along to it until he just hate it, only for him to start singing and the song was stuck in his head. (literally)
So story short Mordecai, Rigby and their friends all band together and destroyed the cassette tape.
Unfortunately, the song that they made became Rigby's new earworm. Woops.
I give all of the respect to the SpongeBob movie for turning Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” into a song about liking a dancing peanut and being proud of it
17:41 I love your use of the term "hearing"! It is super unusual to see outside of the Deaf world.

@@themovieminor 🎶 We've got a manly flare

I swear, that is one catchy song from the original SpongeBob movie.
Seeing him flip out on krabs was satisfying

SpongeBob is definitely a super relatable character! Inspongeniac, Procrastination, and Roller Cowards all perfectly capture different aspects of my own anxiety struggles (I actually agree with your take on SpongeBob possibly having it too). I also found Abrasive Side (and Squirrel Jokes to an extent) relatable as well as a people pleaser who has trouble saying no.
I'd also include Ripped Pants because most of us have had the feeling that everything we do is overshadowed no matter how hard we try.
That's one of my favorite episodes! I also agree that episode one of the most relatable episodes in the series in my opinion
No Texan should ever have to be separated like that
27:44 glad there’s someone out there that has the same fear of rollercoasters as I do, I am terrified to try loops, and hate wooden coasters
Procrastination is definitely an episode that I feel related to the most. Which is why I haven't uploaded in two weeks. -_-

This video has SO many good moments and, of course, delivers the relatability perfectly
What would SpongeBob sound like in Japanese?!
@@ryanwilkins2233 you can find clips online, look up "Japanese dubbed Spongebob" it's like when anime gets dubbed in English. It's very interesting
"Procrastination" has to be my favorite on this list because that always happens to me
As a writer with executive dysfunction (side effect of neurological conditions such as autism/asperger's, ADHD, etc. that results in problems with things such as starting or focusing on tasks), these are the main things that have helped me:
-listening to video game music helps with focus since it's meant to be listened to while completing a task
-having a decent way to track your progress--saying I've written 1000 words of a 5000 word essay doesn't really mean too much to me, but saying that I'm 20% done makes it feel like I'm actually progressing
-take breaks. I personally use the pomodoro technique whenever I'm needing to focus for a long period without burning out (15-25 minutes of work with a 5 minute break; repeat that about four times and then take a half hour break), and if you're in a flow, you can skip over the breaks if you need
(I do recommend taking the half hour breaks to get up and stretch, though)
The bully episode is a little relatable to me. I was picked on a bit throughout my school career for multiple reasons.
The sleeping episode is also relatable. Late 2009 was the worst time of my life.
I think I have agoraphobia when I go to school some of the kids are misbehaving.

PhantomStrider is like a less angry, pessimistic, and "high" budget Nostalgia Critic. And that what makes him enjoyable!

Its Amazing just how relatable Spongebob can be. It's always great when kids shows are relatable as it can help kids through life

@@Goldrose257 exactly, you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of wonder and joy when you grow older!! Keep being you! ^-^
@@My_Melodyy2746 Thanks! You too! ❤
As someone who gets anxious at the thought of just going to a theme park because I'm worried about someone pressuring me to go on a rollercoaster, I can really relate to #2.
I also found myself relating to what Strider had to say about that topic. I'll admit that I'm not as afraid of rollercoasters as him, but they aren't exactly my idea of "fun" personally, and they never have been
I really got to say:
My favorite part of procrastination is when his chair comes to life and creeps him out (that is my relatable part of this episode), I didn't realize until you said that his chair wants him to have a seat that this relates to more of the topic of the episode.
For me.
It's not speculated by fans, it's confirmed by Hillenburg that the movie is canonically the end.
33:05 plankton just makes me laugh at this scene
