Howdy! 🙂 Trying something a little different today with exploring these Spongebob comics. Hoping subscribers show some interest as I'd love to do more of these stories in the future 😀

I honestly really like the idea of more stories between Squidward and SpongeBob's Grandmother, I see a fantastic opportunity here, maybe she could act something as role model for Squidward, someone who can help not only sharpen his skills, but encourage him to push further with his skills. or just act as an elderly friend for him to interact with on occasion.
I think that his gramdma was supposed to look like a natural sea sponge at the end of that one with Squidward. We sell them where I work, and that looks more or less like one. Also, reading these was a really good video idea. I wish the show now was shorter and more fun like these comics.
Mr. Krabs is just despicable in that first comic. Probably his second worst portrayal (number 1 is you know what) in Spongebob media for purposely making his best employee thinking he's late for months on end. There's probably more though. Also, that first comic is based on the episode Bummer Vacation from Season 4.
Though, interestingly, it was written by Derek Drymon, who was the creative director and supervising director for the first three seasons, and _only_ the first three seasons.
to be fair, he did sell out spongebob to the flying dutchman for pocket change even in his better portrayals, and had to be scolded by spongebob's number 1 hater to actually convince him that it was a bad move, and stole a pearl/egg from a giant clam. krabs has his good moments, but when it comes to money, he's ALWAYS been greedy to the point of doing terrible things.
Fun fact: Mr. Krab’s birth date is November 30, 1942. SpongeBob’s is July 14, 1986, as revealed on each characters driver’s license, in dream sequences, in season one, episode fifteen, “Sleepy Time/Suds”.
That first story clearly shows that we're in the "Mr. Krabs is an outright criminal" phase of his development. He started out as a dedicated business owner, then frugal, then cheap, then a thief, and here he's committing fraud, breaking labor laws, and gaslighting. This is all because Spongebob has been on too long and the writers don't know what to do except escalate, same thing as Roger in American Dad or Flanders in the Simpsons.

I remember these comics they used to come in nickelodeon's official magazine. I have one that I still have that came out on the day of my 10th birthday. And I still have it. Oh and Strider if you want I got a SpongeBob comic for you if you'd care to read it. My uncle made it for me and it was my invitation to my 8th birthday it's short but sweet.

the flanderization might be because theres not really any voice direction to give the dialogue the proper amount of subtlety. A slight change in vocal tone can do wonders.

One of my favourite Spongebob comics actually comes before Silly Sea Stories was a thing. It was back in Nickelodeon Magazine, in a special ‘Time Travel’ issue. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was a two-page ‘Choose your Own Adventure’ comic where Spongebob and Squidward find a time machine and get into all sorts of trouble. Another favourite is from Spongebob Comics. It is called “Squidward’s Mythological Madness,” and it involves Squidward taking Spongebob and Patrick to a museum dedicated to mythology, only to end up locked inside at night and having to deal with Patrick acting like various mythical characters. That’s something you might be interested in!
These are so freakin good! Part of me wonders if some of these were scrapped episodes. Also at the end of "Great Grandma", grandma is supposed to be a just a dried out sea sponge photoshopped onto the character's head. Hence the moisturizer comment.
Also I just realized this upon a rewatch. Fake isn’t what the krabby patty was supposed to represent. “Fake” and “Need” weren’t even visualized. Those visuals were for the second sequence: “Quake, Seed, Fried, Sash” The krabby patty was for “Fried” The beauty pageant lady was “sash”. The camera was for “flash” in the 3rd sequence of that panel: “take, steed, pride, flash”
Glad to see you bringing attention to the comics. I don't think many people know about these. I remember reading one where Spongebob thought that he was a freak just because he happened to have hands with fingers.
These stories were so charming and new without having real life Strider in it and instead showing that version of him doing impressions that make us think this is another person. What I also think the ending during the 4th story stood out to me.
I remember that there are some SpongeBob books I liked! One of them was where SpongeBob was hesitant to let Patrick borrow his new Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy Bubble Set, another where SpongeBob falls in love with a princess and goes on a date with her (hope Sandy doesn't get jealous haha), another where SpongeBob and the rest of the characters had a father’s day with their dads, one where SpongeBob got a package and it said SpongeBot SquashPants, one where SpongeBob goes to the dentist, one where a giant SpongeBob Godzilla monster attacks, one where Mr. Krabs becomes a dictator and Sandy tries to stop him, and one where SpongeBob tries to join the supervillains!
I read the princess, dentist, Easter and hockey one all the time as a kid! Should really check the others out. There a cute set of stories. I don't think SpongeBob was dating her though. Just eating lunch at the end.
Despite don't be Canon,These Comics Make a Lot of Things what the Own Cartoon don't making a Lot of Extreme Off the Wall and Far-Fetch Stories,And this is Awesome.
I like the Comic of SpongeBob taking Squidward to see his grandma. Which I think it's better then in the show's episode, Grandma's kisses. Plus I even shared it on my Facebook once.
I have some of the comics...my favorite comic is the one where they transform into superheroes. Like, everyone. From Marvel and DC. Especially Spongebob, who transforms into a different superhero in every panel! It's pretty much a guessing game as to what hero he's gonna transform into! Awesome!
I would love to watch more of these Strider! I can never get tired of you making anything Spongebob and you reviewing the comics really is entertaining. An alternative to all of the episodes we already know about. Keep it up! : D
Hey Strider, love the videos and keep up the good work! I doubt you'll see this but I was just wondering what your thoughts on the new Disney cartoons, Amphibia and Owl House, are. I know they are far from finished but I'm just curious what your opinions of them are.
Hiya Bob. I've seen amphibia's first season and really enjoyed it. I liked the frog cast and liked the vast majority of the characters. There was a nice hook of a mystery too throughout the season.
The first comic gives me Grover "There's a Monster at the End of this Book" vibes, with how Krabs is trying his absolute best to keep Spongebob out Also what if Spongebob got a job tagging jellyfish? It would teach the kids about a part of marine biology, and Spongebob is shown to be really good at catching them, and handling them.
Have you watched the SpongeBob musical from Broadway? It's amazing ❤ The bootleg is online; the version they aired on Nickelodeon isn't the best version. Everything about it is amazing 👏
What I really love about SpongeBob is how all of the characters retain their personality’s pretty well. Sandy will always be from Texas, Mr. Krabs will always love money, SpongeBob will always be positive and ready for anything. It makes for some great interactions and funny episodes. The only time I think the characters change is in the mid seasons. SpongeBob and patrick are obnoxiously stupid during some mid-season episodes.

22:30 im pretty sure plankton doesn’t actually call a lawyer more often is because whenever he gets squished inside of the Krusty Krab, he’s not allowed to be there, and is technecly banned from the krusty krab, and in that situation Krabs can sue him back. i’m pretty sure. But that’s just a personal opinion
Hmmm, maybe that's why SpongeBob likes Squidward so much; he has a lot of the same interests as his grandma. Maybe Squidward should think about adopting that golden rule of hers.
As a kid, I actually read the SpongeBob comics, as well... Not like these, though, but completely different comics. There was one where SpongeBob decides to try to audition for the supervillain club as "Little Litterer" and The Dirty Bubble, Manray, and Jumbo Shrimp are the judges of this club. There's one where SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick venture forth to be the first to climb the tallest mountain in Bikini Bottom. There was one where SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward are playing shadow puppets, I think? (it was a really short comic, too) There's also a comic where SpongeBob got action figures from the mail and ran over to Squidward, asking him if he wanted to play with the toys with him, only for Squid to not be interested (as per usual) while calling them "dolls" instead. There was also one where SpongeBob shook hands with the guy at the Krusty Krab and doesn't want to wash his hand again after that, so Mr. Krabs plans a way to get his fry cook's hand clean again. There's another where SpongeBob has trouble packing for Grandma's house. There's even one where SpongeBob and Patrick are playing catch near Squidward; being the annoyed Squid that he is, he told the two to dig for a "surprise" in Squidward's backyard; the two eventually found a switch (that Patrick pulled) and unintentionally brought Squidward's house to life, which is then causing a ruckus all over town, (this, by the way, isn't the first time it happened) and the three decide to go after it. I'm not gonna lie when I say that I thought this was a real episode at one point; I'm not quite sure why. Those are just some of the comics I read in that one whole book. (not the one in the video) I can't remember what book that is or what the names of those comics are exactly; it's been a long time since I read them. It might be one of those Nickelodeon magazines and I believe it was at the time when the episode "Atlantis Squarepantis" was first aired, but I'm not too sure on that... My apologies for the long comment, by the way. Just want to share my own experience with different SpongeBob comics.
I really enjoyed this. I hope they do more of these comic sketches of even do the 5 minute long SpongBob episodes again as they can actually animate these comics. I enjoy that they are doing a new style to SpongBob this way and the characters don't feel like their current one dimensional selves. And one last thing I think these may have been deleted episode premises but they decided to turn into comic books after all this time which is why hillenburg is credited. Anyway I really enjoyed your reaction to the comics and as always another video of yours that brightened my day. Thanks
I'm actually adapting the boating school story from the comic for a Minecraft SpongeBob RP I'm making with my brother, with a part 2 where Spongebob seems to fail, but accidentally passes, and the tales continue as Mr. Krabs tries to make The Krusty Krab and interoceanal franchise (a la McDonalds) and hires Pearl as co-owner, Gary as busboy/Janitor, Sandy as Waitress, and Patrick as drive-thru guy, also contained in this RP is, Plankton's coolest plan to steal the formula ever (in my opinion), Mr. Krabs setting up Krusty Krab locations in The Bikini Bottom Mall, Rock Bottom, New Kelp City, and even Squidville, as well as serving Pizza and Hot Dogs again, setting up an arcade, and pretty much making it an Underwater Chuck-E-Cheese (seen through the Krabby The Clown and Friends animatronics on stage and arcade) (but also some McDonald's in there in the design of their play-place [which is surprisingly not cheaply made, very nice and actually safe, but with the layout of Krabby Land] and the Krusty Kiddie Meal Toys)

The Krusty Krab is like the Tokyo Tower in kaiju movies, it always gets destroyed and then quickly rebuilt as if nothing ever happened.

As a kid, I actually read the SpongeBob comics, as well... Not like these, though, but completely different comics.
There was one where SpongeBob decides to try to audition for the supervillain club as "Little Litterer" and The Dirty Bubble, Manray, and Jumbo Shrimp are the judges of this club.
There's one where SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick venture forth to be the first to climb the tallest mountain in Bikini Bottom.
There was one where SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward are playing shadow puppets, I think? (it was a really short comic, too)
There's also a comic where SpongeBob got action figures from the mail and ran over to Squidward, asking him if he wanted to play with the toys with him, only for Squid to not be interested (as per usual) while calling them "dolls" instead.
There was also one where SpongeBob shook hands with the guy at the Krusty Krab and doesn't want to wash his hand again after that, so Mr. Krabs plans a way to get his fry cook's hand clean again.
There's another where SpongeBob has trouble packing for Grandma's house.
There's even one where SpongeBob and Patrick are playing catch near Squidward; being the annoyed Squid that he is, he told the two to dig for a "surprise" in Squidward's backyard; the two eventually found a switch (that Patrick pulled) and unintentionally brought Squidward's house to life, which is then causing a ruckus all over town, (this, by the way, isn't the first time it happened) and the three decide to go after it. I'm not gonna lie when I say that I thought this was a real episode at one point; I'm not quite sure why.
Those are just some of the comics I read in that one whole book. (not the one in the video) I can't remember what book that is or what the names of those comics are exactly; it's been a long time since I read them. It might be one of those Nickelodeon magazines and I believe it was at the time when the episode "Atlantis Squarepantis" was first aired, but I'm not too sure on that...

I really enjoyed this. I hope they do more of these comic sketches of even do the 5 minute long SpongBob episodes again as they can actually animate these comics. I enjoy that they are doing a new style to SpongBob this way and the characters don't feel like their current one dimensional selves. And one last thing I think these may have been deleted episode premises but they decided to turn into comic books after all this time which is why hillenburg is credited. Anyway I really enjoyed your reaction to the comics and as always another video of yours that brightened my day. Thanks

I'm actually adapting the boating school story from the comic for a Minecraft SpongeBob RP I'm making with my brother, with a part 2 where Spongebob seems to fail, but accidentally passes, and the tales continue as Mr. Krabs tries to make The Krusty Krab and interoceanal franchise (a la McDonalds) and hires Pearl as co-owner, Gary as busboy/Janitor, Sandy as Waitress, and Patrick as drive-thru guy, also contained in this RP is, Plankton's coolest plan to steal the formula ever (in my opinion), Mr. Krabs setting up Krusty Krab locations in The Bikini Bottom Mall, Rock Bottom, New Kelp City, and even Squidville, as well as serving Pizza and Hot Dogs again, setting up an arcade, and pretty much making it an Underwater Chuck-E-Cheese (seen through the Krabby The Clown and Friends animatronics on stage and arcade) (but also some McDonald's in there in the design of their play-place [which is surprisingly not cheaply made, very nice and actually safe, but with the layout of Krabby Land] and the Krusty Kiddie Meal Toys)

11:41 I think the visuals are for a word in each set of misremembered instructions. The Krabby Patty might be for fried, the paper airplane for glide, the lady fish could either be pride or sash, and the camera is for flash
