“keep in mind the shadows dont always have to make sense” oh my god that is so enlightening. This whole video is enlightening. I always struggled to understand how anime shadows are done, like the process of figuring out where they go, and I’ve been bashing my head into a wall doing studies thinking i was just dumb. But now I know that I’ve been sacrificing the read of the scene for realism.
THIS is perfect! What I exactly need! I wanted to try short animation, but blockade 1 is "I CAN'T DRAW GOOD ENOUGH!" We need more basic drawing guides/tips. I was so happy i saw this! Thank you so much for this @Dong Chang!
Awesome tutorial! : ) I really like how much you can cover in such short time in your videos without making it overwhelming! Also, I noticed in a lot of rough animation in anime, that the color within the shadow is usually different (like clothes having a blue color, and skin having a red or orange color) is this something you could maybe consider making a tutorial on? Like which colors are used, and how and why they’re used.
this is what i was looking for now i have grip of how shadows can be drawn this is what i ws struggling to understand i could not add colors without knowing this! so thank you so much!!!!!
I alway wonder how do you shade round-ish objects, like the ribbon at 3:50 or breasts, the shape of the shadow look so cool but i dont think it’s based on realistic thing (at least i could not recreate them with 3d model) so it’s really hard to learn. Would be cool if you can make a video about the logic behind them, or some useful resource links are more than enough.
What if I want to make shadow for a charcter in the dark without light coming in the room, basically night time, is it possible for you to show us how, please❤
