So it sounds like Hillary didn't actually climb the Hillary Step as i always assumed. He got lucky and was able to bypass it because he happened to arrive at a time when the ice had separated from the rock just far enough to fit through but still close enough to support their weight.
So basically he's saying he never actually climbed 'hillary's step' he crawled through an ice crack around the right side of it. How'd he crawl inside a 2 foot wide crack with all this gear on. I don't believe he even ever reached the summit TBH. There's only two people that know, and Tenzing norgay could barely speak english and couldn't read or write and is long dead, and there's only one picture which you can't even tell is the summit or not and it's only of Tenzing. I honestly don't think they ever summited. There's literally zero proof.
