I remember when i was a child studying at a school in Nepal back in 2000, I was studying history where I learnt that Tenzing and Edmund were the first people to summit everest but there was no video of them. Now I am happy to see their video.

About Tenzing, he was never a nepali to begin with. Watch his biography. He migrated from tibet to nepal then India as his permanent home.

Gurkhas are the world courageous soldier force made from the combination of different castes and tribes of Nepal. Gurkhas endonym of Gorkhali. Gurkhas or Gurkhas soldiers were originated in the Gorkha district of Nepal back in 1800s AD before the unification of modern Nepal has initiated. Since Gurkha soldiers were originated in Nepal, the citizens of Nepal are identified as "Gurkhas" or "Gorkhalis" tamangs, limbu, sherpas, rais, newars or gurungs are people belonging to different castes that form a common ethnicity "The Mongolians" or the "Mongols". You shouldn't teach us about his origin and nationality. All biographies are made by humans with vested interests and greed. Not all the biographies are truth or have fallen from the sky.
The truth is that Tenzing Sherpa's mother was a Tibetan and his Father was Nepali and he was born in Nepal (Khumu Region of Nepal) (He himself spoke in a radio interview in 1985 in all India Radio that he was born in Nepal) but he grew up in and around the Nepal- Tibetan region and in eastern region of India and that's how he excelled in English language. He went to Darjeeling in 1933 AD hoping to be hired for that year's British expedition.
When Tenzing succeeded in climging Mt. Everest he became world famous and he was felicitated by Government of Nepal, Government of India, Government of Britain (British expedition) and that was why he dug three flags on the top of Everest belonging to Nepal, India and the British. Later, Indian government proposed Tenzing to stay in India and offered a general manager position in HImalayan Mountaineering Institute at Darjeeling. A poor fellow from Nepal considered this proposal as the most reliable way of earning his livelihood and accepted the proposal and since then he started living in Darjeeling. Since he was born in Nepal,, he didn't have any language problem in Darjeeling as the Nepali language was/is the official language of the place. His son was born in India. And that was how he was linked with India. He was not an Indian citizen when he summited the Everest. He was linked with Nepal and Tibet both as a origin lineage. He was linked with Britishers as a porter in British expedition team of the Everest Summit but he was never linked with India as native citizen of India but as a professional worker as offered by the Government of India, however, he was awarded a highest civilian award by the government of India. if you trust in whatever written in Biographies the also dare to refer to Wikipedia and Britannica too.

@@Drinkbeernotcoke If China will take whole of Nepal then I guarantee you that they will take away your India too.......Chinese Government had never said or claimed that Mount Everest belong to China (Tibet). Instead, it was Chinese news channel who delivered the wrong mention while telecasting the news regarding Mount Everest. Later, when Government of Nepal protested and sent the diplomatic note then Government of China hurriedly rectified the committed mistake. But none can deny that Mount Everest lies on the border of Nepal and China (Tibet). Among the three dimensions of the Everest one dimension rests at China whereas the remaining two dimensions & the summit itself lies completely within the sovereign territory of Nepal. So, claiming is one thing owning or ruling is the other. Since Tenzing was born in Khumbu region of Nepal and spent most of his life in Nepal and Tibet both it is quite obvious that Nepalese will pass the rightful statements saying that We, the Nepalese have created the history and there is nothing wrong in it.

I'm getting the impression that he's out of his element, and that the studio crew gave him the same prep they would give to a US citizen used to watching tv-shows and news shows, which would be kind of : [[ *censored* ]], you suckers. Just let the man talk about which bits were relatively easy, where it got really difficult, what came as a surprise, ... Putting with somebody with limited language skills in front of a camera and not giving him adequate time to prepare is (1.) cruel and (2) a terrible waste of a golden opportunity.
Still, the man is a legend and it's a privilege to hear his voice.
