- Dr. Weathers lost both arms and his nose when climbing Mr. Everest. Here is some advice from the man himself for those trying to fill that gap in their heart with excessive working out and climbing.

Beck weathers honesty about his depression and how climbing helped alleviate it, is such a brave conversation to have. He is so logical in how he reflects back and is able to explain how many unknown and risky factors contributed to the events that unfolded that day. It is remarkable that he blames no one for their actions or inactions. He is a very inspiring and brave man.
Yes! He is a living example
Brave????.... Man's a fool......
Outstanding story of determination and perseverance Dr Beck. This is Hugh Glass level stuff.
The guy had some pluck to survive, recover, and get up on various stages in front of audiences of both admirers and detractors!
We can learn a lot about perseverance!!
I am happy your survived Beck, even with no hands.
Interviewer asked simple, straightforward, insightful questions.
Thank you very much. That is very kind.
@@talktogabriel and whatever the merits or not of you as an interviewer, the outcome of you uploading this video is very positive, in that this, in my opinion, is one of the most poignant answers ever given by a mountaineer to a question about motives. Thanks for uploading!
I want to meet Beck so bad!
Grew a nose upside down on my forehead. Incredible
Guy seems like a great guy
Amazing man
Respekt beck ты выжил в таком шторме
Wasted a chance for a good interview with an amazing man there
Seems like a great guy. He's certainly a special individual physically. To survive what he did, I mean maybe that's why his last name is Weathers. haha Reading Into Thin Air really paints one insane picture. I haven't read Beck's book yet though.
he lost a hand and his fingers on the other I love this guy though
It's an amazing story. So many people struggle with depression, and look where he is now.
Right, he was lovely interview. Really put things into perspective.
The audio in this video really sucks.
I apologize, all of my audio is better after this video.
cool interview but the sound... that is a failure.
Not loud enough yes.
Too bad this shitty comment is top
Tight when people upload their videos with super low audio. Really makes a lot of sense.
I hear it just fine
@@joshuaeaton6478 No you don't.
@@Bob31415 I can hear it absolutely fine too.
@@rosieposie9564 No you can't.
@@Bob31415 Yes, I can. I did not even notice that there was a problem at all and I would have noticed a problem if I was having any difficulties.
Terrible audio.
both arms?
Mostly!!
@@talktogabriel how stupid are you? He lost one hand, and part of the other one. He still has both arms. Also this video sucks and the audio is total garbage.
Josh Witte You forgot something: You suck too!
I have respect for Beck Weathers. But the interviewer? Just the fact that he said "awesome" after Weathers told him the reason he was there. Who is this guy? Did he not do his research before this interview? No compassion? How old is he?
I apologize if I seemed disrespectful.
@@talktogabriel You seemed disinterested at best. None of your responses made any sense.
The interviewer is dreadful
No mention of the poor sherpa👎
You cant go there and expect to climb safely without waiting. The best climbers are reall like ski bums that hang around waiting for the weather windows.
Doesn't matter how good you are
It´s a shame he realized these "tips and advice" after he went and did it himself. I can understand doing things that give you a high, but there are limits which a persons brain usually tells them, we can call it tips an advice from the brain, for example usually this happens to a person before one does something like climbing a mountain that has kileld 1 out of 4 people trying to climb themselves-.
K2 is one in four... Everest most years is one in 30... Plenty dangerous enough, though...
Why, just why
Trauma. I think it’s called “mental suicide” where we just cut off our brains with pain.
Beck can only blame himself and Rob hall for his injuries. He has criticized Anatoli which is lame. He was Halls problem but Hall was more interested in not losing the game with Ficher as you can see the end results speaks for itself
Ya, you're the expert.
@@dougdavis8986 Yes. He chose to stay and even said it was a mistake.
@@boarhog1979 woah nice you watched the movie ,nice to see such knowledge thrown out
@@skinheadsound3236 He chose to stay. As he even said it was a mistake. It is a mountain after all. Use the cells that you have left
@@skinheadsound3236 He was offered to be short roped by 2 other climbers and refused as well. Who is to blame? Him or Hall?
It's the 21st fucking century, fix your fucking sound.
Lol
