Thanks. I had this problem with too much strap being jammed on the reel. I used the handle of a spoon to pull out some tape as I thought pliers may damage the strap. But still couldn't unwind. I did so by using a lever to turn the spindle in the correct direction and pulling on the strap.

Thanks so much man was fighting all day trying to get this one strap unjammed. I didn't have any needle nose pliers so I didn't think it was gonna work but I tried it with the regular sized pliers I had available and it worked as well. Thanks again thought I was going to have to buy more.

Thank you so much! It seemed counterintuitive to loosen it then pull it tight, but it worked! After I loosened up a few layers, it allowed me to pull and unratchet it.

I was afraid that my technique is the same as yours. My needle nose pliers are damaging the strap so I just placed my ratchet in the freezer. Hopefully the temp change will shrink the metal so I can pull some of the strap through

Be careful with using pliers like this, most of them have wire cutters at the bottom(like these) and you don’t want to cut the straps for obvious reasons, I just used a flathead screwdriver in the same sort of way and it worked pretty easily

this is my go to method but unfortunately I'm dealing with a heavy duty thick ratchet and this method is not feasible.. damn, I've been messing with mine for about 2 months on and off of course . I'm ready to toss it, shit has me frustrated and I'm beginning to lose sleep and I'm starting to see the strap laughing at me lol..

Curious why isn't there a strap that works like a fishing reel just push a button to pull out strap and turn the reel to wind it and have two hooks just like the ratchet strap

Those metal pliers will damage the strap. Now it's not rated for a load. If you cant undo the jam by hand you discard that strap and eat the cost. Make sure that strap isn't compromised next time.

Oh dear, what's this? No mate. All you do is pull the catch (bolt side) and reverse spool (close handle), repeat. Put your foot on the line for a little pressure to help it round.
