The African American girl made a really good point about nude lip colors. One nude shade may not work for every skin tone. She's right.

Not really a good point.
There are always multiple shades of nude. For example if you're looking at makeup (and it's the same product and brand), you'll notice the multiple nude shades such as ivory beige, naked peach and cola pop.
Nowadays all nude shades (in terms of makeup anyway) cater to all skin tones, it's just dependable on which shade you get.
I'm more focused on the fact that BuzzFeed tried to say that darker nude shades are non-existent and that nude is only one colour, when it really isn't and they were so careless that they couldn't get a nude shade suitable to all of the women, which that makeup brand carries.

Why would they give the same lipstick to all three girls, knowing that they have different skin tones? Nude shades aren't universal, and that's going to give a bad experience and low confidence. Jesus.

Kitarina Brown I thought the point was that these girls weren't confident in lipstick and didn't like it, and they were going to do it to build confidence and give it a chance. Not about the shades at all. That's why I think it was incredibly unfair.
I feel like instead of giving every girl the same lip colour they should have given appropriate colours within the same family to each girl given the different skin tones - it probably would have really changed the results and how they saw themselves with it on.

maybe their point of choosing colors that didn't match each of their nude colors is to show women that they don't need to be self conscious or be afraid to try new things

NEVER wear a nude lip lighter than your natural lip color, it makes you look like a escapee from the frosted lip era. The colors they found didn't work for all the girls' skin tones, and as a lipstick devotee, unflattering lipstick makes me actually sad.

I think they should've found a nude lipstick to match each skin tone. The one they chose looked awful on all of them. It made the pale girl and the Asian girl look dead, and then it looked ashy on the black girl. I don't understand the appeal of wearing lipstick that makes you look dead. Nude doesn't have to look like you've got corpse lips. "My lips but better" is what I've always taken from the idea of nude lipstick.

I mean my area of expertise in liquid to matte lipsticks would probably be Jeffree Star as that's what I'm more comfortable with and the chocolate shade Dominatrix would have probably been more suited to the black girl

they all wore the same lipstick shades... it wasnt about picking what looks good for each girl it was an experiment with random common shades. im black and i feel like you guys are getting over sensitive about this video damn...

They said it was 'nude' lipstick, meaning NUDE lipstick.
There are multiple shades of nude and they easily could have matched a nude lip colour to each girls' skin tone.
So, in a way, different shades of nude would still have been the same lipstick colour, because it still classifies as nude.
Emily Hendra, nude is a large variety of skintone-like colors yes, BUT one specific color "corset" was chosen for everyone to be more of the extreme light end of the experiment and they ALL had to wear the same color or else there is no control for the experiment... if they picked and chose the best colors for each girl then theres no 'risk' in trying out the colors that likely look awful on you. They were Supposed to hate some. and to maybe like some. trial and error, getting an idea of what they like to maybe try out more on their own.
and just because it was considered a 'nude' lipstick doesnt mean anything, it was still just THAT color they were trying. saying they should use Any nude shade for each girl would then mean they could have used Any brown, Any red, Any purple.... defeating the purpose of making they try things out of their comfort zone/fitting colors
It was kind of mean to give that specific nude shade to the Asian girl and the black girl. What would have been nice is if you didn't treat them all like one person and instead got a make up artist in to give them all a few different shades that would match their skin tone, style and hair colour..

I don't know someone has already said this, this vid is really old, but you should ALWAYS make sure to set your lipstick with translucent powder. Split a tissue, so it's really thin, cover your mouth with it, and tap powder all over the super thin tissue. It makes a HUGE difference

So is anybody else kind of mad that Kuw wasn't given an appropriate nude for her skin tone? NYX has darker nudes that would have actually look nude on her. She still killed it but I think she'd be happier with the appearance if she got a different one.
