I love ladylike, but I think they need to learn what dupes are. A better title for this video is “Drugstore Vs. Luxury” because the products weren’t trying to be duped, they were just cheaper products. Whereas dupes are products that are trying to be the exact same product even in packaging.
That's what I was thinking! :D Essence is like the first make-up brand you buy when you start doing your make-up in your teens. So... budget friendly. And some of the stuff is actually pretty good tho... I use them in my mid 20'.. :D
i love the concept of ladylike so much. i love the whole idea of female creators making content geared towards what women want to see. all the women involved in this are absolute gems. but... i mean, come on, i want to see nor than make up and style videos. rememeber when they built tables and took pole dancing classes and explored new places?? thats the female driven stuff i miss! i mean, i love make up and clothes but theres so are so many other cool things out there!
This video is very frustrating. There’s a complete lack of understanding about what dupes are (you cannot compare a radiant finish foundation to a matte foundation, if a blush is more orange than the original then it’s not a dupe, etc), which makes the video feel like a waste a time. Also, you only asked two people for their opinions-what was the point?

both are extremely similar and will produce the same effect. with glossier you have to pay shipping so both come out to about the same price range. get whatever is more accessible to you
i've never tried the boy brow but i used to SWEAR by benefit brow products and then tried the soap & glory archery volu-boost gel (bc ballin' on a budget) and love it! i fill my brows in with a pencil first and then use it to thicken them up a little and set them and it lasts all day :)
I think essence make me brow is awesome 100% did not give it a good shot at all. I also have boy brow and it's pretty good too, the boy brow is for a more bolder look in my opinion, it goes on super heavy but I think it's intended to make you have those bushy brows which I don't mind. 😊

1. NARS is water based luminous foundation, L’Oréal has a ceam and a matte finish. They are NOT dupes for each other because the formulas and colors are different. 🙄 2. Milani and NARS orgasm blushes are NOT in any universe dupes for each other. One is a powder shimmer and one is powder-matted blush. 3. NYX is cream lipstick and KVD is a liquid. Completely different finishes. Foundation is actually better .on the expensive side in my opinion. The L’Oréal looks yellow and cakey. And dull. NARS foundation allows more light through it and it spreads more evenly. Please take time to learn what a “dupe” actually is before making videos about it. This just makes you guys look misinformed and lazy. And you actually are criticizing brands for things they never claimed about their products.

Kritsin even says in the video “I truly do not believe these are dupes. I just think one is better,” The whole point of the video is to TEST wether or not they are dupes and that’s what they did.

I think Kristen(sorry if I spelt it wrong) should really go for a less full coverage foundation, cause from other videos I’ve seen she always does a full coverage foundation, and it makes her skin look so cakey. Her skin really doesn’t have that much discoloration and she actually has really nice skin. She should go for a more natural coverage foundation, she looks so beautiful in it☺️ but if she likes the full coverage then good for her, at the end of the day it’s her face😆

The Stila stay all day liner is the only liquid eyeliner that doesn't transfer around my eyelid. That's the one makeup item i would buy high end, since all other options i've tried never stayed lol. The rest of my makeup is drugstore except for an eyeshadow palette (modern renaissance❤️)
I truly love ladylike but this video is not well done! The foundations are not even close in formula, consistency or finish. The price of the essence brow gel is way cheaper than It sais in the video and it is a very good dupe but you have to use It correctly! Also the lipsticks, even if they have a similar colour, one is longlasting and the other one doesn't dry on the lips so it is defenetely going to come off very quickly.

My favorite makeup brand is Physicians Formula. Pretty dang good quality from what I found and they're a good medium price range. They're not the cheapest dollar store or NYX but they're only a few dollars more than NYX and they also have an organic line which I appreciate :-)
I know it’s redundant but I’m going to add my two cents. I used to love LadyLike but lately it’s been ridiculous. Clearly whoever was responsible for the research for this video should be fired or suspended because there was zero. Even if you’re not in the beauty community you should know what a dupe is, step up or stay in your lane. I’m sick of all the LadyLike makeup videos because you guys have no clue what you’re talking about tbh - leave it to the beauty gurus. Do more fun challenge videos and vlog things. And it was extremely frustrating to hear comments implying there would be information about how the makeup lasted throughout the day and what coworkers thought, and we literally only got a couple seconds of reactions and zero about how it wears. That’s all. I’m just very disappointed.
PLEASE do another like this! I would love one with more makeup (primer, setting spray), but especially with skin products like cleanser, moisturizer, etc!
None of these-to my knowledge-are proper dupes. Luminous foundation versus a matte one? A long lasting lipstick versus a cream? I think there are better comparisons to be made than the ones in this video. I appreciate the effort you guys put into this, but I think you needed to do more research.
exactly. and i feel the lipstick one could be forgiven if they stated it was more of a color dupe and that they were aware the formula wouldn’t be similar, but even then the NYX and Lolita II were very off.
You're not missing much. I'm constantly underwhelmed by high end makeup. Everytime I treat myself I'm disappointed with what I got for the money. I've tried two foundations that are just worse than drugstore, and other makeup that's only a bit better. Still if I find a high end at TJ Maxx I'll buy it.- especially as how the drugstore brands are going up in price.
This concept of half a face of cheap makeup and half a face of expensive makeup is very overdone Also it turned out that they didn’t do their research so most of the products weren’t very comparable at all which makes the video useless I think it’s time for these ladies to move on in their careers because at this point they’ve grown out of this channel and it shows, they should introduce a new team that actually knows beauty, skincare, lifestyle etc
I don't think they need to switch out the members. Just refocus their efforts onto more inspiring projects. I personally think they shine the most during their experience videos (no cellphone retreat, photo-shoot with cats), although those videos have a higher production cost and take longer at least they aren't sacrificing the integrity of the brand they've built. I honestly feel bad for the women in Ladylike because you can tell they're burnt out from doing these videos where they are expected provide an 'unbiased' review on products so Buzzfeed can make quick cash.

I love a good dupe but 1/2 of these weren't actually dupes. To be a dupe it needs to be the EXACT same style product via a cheaper brand. Like a matte foundation vs a matte foundation, NOT a matte foundation vs a luminous (dewy) foundation. There's actually a lot of research into dupes, in fact there's entire websites dedicated to finding less expensive products that are the exact same dupe for more expensive products. If they were going to make this video they should have done their research and got the exact dupe for the more expensive product they were using.
This is the only ladylike video I've ever hit dislike on. This is because the concept is such a promising ladylike video, but the lack of research, if any, is obvious. Firstly, you compared a dewy and matte foundation. It's a different type of finish, so they won't be the same, let alone similar to each other. Secondly, you compared the Milani Luminoso blush to Nars Orgasm, when the clearly aren't even the same colour (which Kristen and Devin stated). I know that cameras can make a difference in how we see it vs how it is in real life, but if you look at these 2 blushes online or in real life, and they are clearly very different in colour. Thirdly, you guys did the exact same thing with the lip products, and if they aren't the same colour, they aren't considered a dupe. The lack of research into this Ladylike video is shown obviously. Finally, at 5:13, you guys said and tried the NYX Liquid Suede, but showed a photo of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, which is a completely different product.
Actually, I doubt any research at all went into this based on those 7:20... It looks like someone saw some dupe videos, said you should do one of those, someone else pulled a bunch of makeup out of a random box, and tadaa!
A dupe to the orgasm blush from Nars is rose gold from sleek. Those are kind of identical, not those you choosed... and really? a matte vs luminous foundation?
A really great dupe for Katie von d that lasts longer and is cheaper is the Cover Girl liquid lipsticks. That stuff is wonderful and last forever and is really lightweight!

Drugstore makeup is usually easier to use and so it’s usually more pigmented right away where as high end makeup is more buildable so if you want it to be subtle it can be and if you wanna cake it on it can be
May i suggest some video ideas or challenges? -ladylike tries camping (not glamping) for 2 nights in the winter -ladylike tries airsoft or paintball capture the flag -ladylike tries to grow own edible garden -ladylike tries firefighting training for a day -ladylike attempts PT test by army standards -ladylike learns how to make a clothing article from scratch -ladylike pairs up and play surgery game, one person in each pair is blindfolded -ladylike tries snowboarding -ladylike tries kite fighting
Ugh I love ladylike but the lack of knowledge/research done made this difficult to watch, the makeup videos in general have gotten really formulaic and repetitive..same themes over and over.
Okay, so the essence make me brow product I've learned is definitely more of a tinted brow gel. I use a pencil to add definition and hair strokes then top my brows with the essence to lock in my brows and add a little bit of dimension.
I used to use the benefit brow gel and I save myself money with Flower eyebrow gel. You can get it Walmart. I would say the benefit brush is still better but easy to fix to get a better finish.

IKR she really don’t have bad skin so I think a light or med coverage that’s dewy can make her skin look like her skin but better

Lauren Schlepp I absolutely love all of their products. The butter bronzer has been a Beauty Guru favorite forever and it smells amazing!

Even if you’re not in the beauty community you should know what a dupe is, step up or stay in your lane. I’m sick of all the LadyLike makeup videos because you guys have no clue what you’re talking about tbh - leave it to the beauty gurus. Do more fun challenge videos and vlog things. And it was extremely frustrating to hear comments implying there would be information about how the makeup lasted throughout the day and what coworkers thought, and we literally only got a couple seconds of reactions and zero about how it wears. That’s all. I’m just very disappointed.

None of these-to my knowledge-are proper dupes. Luminous foundation versus a matte one? A long lasting lipstick versus a cream? I think there are better comparisons to be made than the ones in this video. I appreciate the effort you guys put into this, but I think you needed to do more research.

exactly. and i feel the lipstick one could be forgiven if they stated it was more of a color dupe and that they were aware the formula wouldn’t be similar, but even then the NYX and Lolita II were very off.

You're not missing much. I'm constantly underwhelmed by high end makeup. Everytime I treat myself I'm disappointed with what I got for the money. I've tried two foundations that are just worse than drugstore, and other makeup that's only a bit better. Still if I find a high end at TJ Maxx I'll buy it.- especially as how the drugstore brands are going up in price.

Also it turned out that they didn’t do their research so most of the products weren’t very comparable at all which makes the video useless
I think it’s time for these ladies to move on in their careers because at this point they’ve grown out of this channel and it shows, they should introduce a new team that actually knows beauty, skincare, lifestyle etc
I don't think they need to switch out the members. Just refocus their efforts onto more inspiring projects. I personally think they shine the most during their experience videos (no cellphone retreat, photo-shoot with cats), although those videos have a higher production cost and take longer at least they aren't sacrificing the integrity of the brand they've built. I honestly feel bad for the women in Ladylike because you can tell they're burnt out from doing these videos where they are expected provide an 'unbiased' review on products so Buzzfeed can make quick cash.

I love a good dupe but 1/2 of these weren't actually dupes. To be a dupe it needs to be the EXACT same style product via a cheaper brand. Like a matte foundation vs a matte foundation, NOT a matte foundation vs a luminous (dewy) foundation. There's actually a lot of research into dupes, in fact there's entire websites dedicated to finding less expensive products that are the exact same dupe for more expensive products. If they were going to make this video they should have done their research and got the exact dupe for the more expensive product they were using.

This is the only ladylike video I've ever hit dislike on. This is because the concept is such a promising ladylike video, but the lack of research, if any, is obvious. Firstly, you compared a dewy and matte foundation. It's a different type of finish, so they won't be the same, let alone similar to each other. Secondly, you compared the Milani Luminoso blush to Nars Orgasm, when the clearly aren't even the same colour (which Kristen and Devin stated). I know that cameras can make a difference in how we see it vs how it is in real life, but if you look at these 2 blushes online or in real life, and they are clearly very different in colour. Thirdly, you guys did the exact same thing with the lip products, and if they aren't the same colour, they aren't considered a dupe. The lack of research into this Ladylike video is shown obviously. Finally, at 5:13, you guys said and tried the NYX Liquid Suede, but showed a photo of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, which is a completely different product.
Actually, I doubt any research at all went into this based on those 7:20... It looks like someone saw some dupe videos, said you should do one of those, someone else pulled a bunch of makeup out of a random box, and tadaa!

A really great dupe for Katie von d that lasts longer and is cheaper is the Cover Girl liquid lipsticks. That stuff is wonderful and last forever and is really lightweight!

Drugstore makeup is usually easier to use and so it’s usually more pigmented right away where as high end makeup is more buildable so if you want it to be subtle it can be and if you wanna cake it on it can be

Ugh I love ladylike but the lack of knowledge/research done made this difficult to watch, the makeup videos in general have gotten really formulaic and repetitive..same themes over and over.
Okay, so the essence make me brow product I've learned is definitely more of a tinted brow gel. I use a pencil to add definition and hair strokes then top my brows with the essence to lock in my brows and add a little bit of dimension.

I used to use the benefit brow gel and I save myself money with Flower eyebrow gel. You can get it Walmart. I would say the benefit brush is still better but easy to fix to get a better finish.
