    I am German and I have ordered my DS4 (performance line, not the cross one). I just can't wait for it , I am longing, I think about it all the time.
    DS4 = best looking car. Period. Top quality car. On same level of quality as German manufacturers. And this comment comes from someone who drived BMWs all my life.
    I am going French and I am proud of it.
    DS4 elected best looking car in several EU countries and rightly so. In real life, it's even more stunning.
    VIVE LA FRANCE !

      It’s sad that BMW’s quality has been decreasing over the years, as the Peugeot/Citroën/DS quality has been improving.

    I ride this beauty about 10 months now. Since several major software updates, voice commands and the DS Smart Touch are working way better (especially the writing feature)! Also the infotainment system works more responsive, faster and less laggy. Chapeau DS Automobiles! Very happy with this car! I have the DS4 Performance Line+ PureTech 130 Automatic in Platinum Grey. Comfort & design are the trumph cards of DS! In the future I'll keep driving DS. My dad always drove Citroën cars and still doing that today. I prefer comfort over sport. I don't have the DS Active Scan Suspension, but it still offers an amazing comfortable ride. The seats are also amazingly comfortable as well.

    Another cracking review Tish, I love the quirks that this car offers, definitely not a cut and paste of other cars. Apart from the current trend for more controls via the touch screen there is very little that would deter me from a possible future purchase. For the time being I'll stick with my current car though but I would certainly consider a test drive on the DS4 sometime soon among some others in time for when I decide to change.

    Auto Social UK -great review but quite frankly, it's the very first I hear someone saying that car is 'feminine'....
    Absolutely everybody finds it aggressive, sharp yet stylish and luxurious.
    It's a proper premium car that does better than many BMWs and Audis. Feminine ? No. But very appealing to both men and women.
    If I may add, you should have shown the car exterior better, particularly the front. It's just absolutely superb.

    Rory on Autotrader was wowed. It’s a great thing as hatch ds4 in white mica metallic. This gold is just a massive no no on the drive or residuals. It actually is worthy against the Golf and cannot believe I’m saying that. Golf bit boring but the Juice green on it as an SE spec great and GTi up just fantastic. Golf insanely hard to beat but DS4 is prettiest in class now.

There has never been so much choice from so many manufacturers, which is a good thing for us the consumers to get what we personally like and can afford.

  • @sak1339
    @sak1339 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Really a great review! I agree that these are good looking vehicles. I was puzzled about who the manufacturer is, until you mentioned Stellantis. The DS line is not sold in the US. I like that this is a hybrid with good performance and fuel economy. I wish Stellantis would look seriously at selling these cars here.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The DS is a spin-off brand of Citroën, harking back to the famous Citroën DS. It’s positioned as a premium brand. There was some talk of selling DS models in N. America under the Chrysler brand.

    • @AutoSocialUK
      @AutoSocialUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As mentioned below, it started as a sub brand of Citroen and then launched as a stand alone brand with its own showrooms. I don’t personally think DS shift enough units in Europe think think about bringing them to the US. If DS 4 does as well as I hope, it could be a turning point however.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Roger It would have to be 25 years old to be imported.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Roger They didn’t. US only allows import of a vehicle if it confirms to US safety and emissions standards (reviewed by the EPA) or is at least 25 years old. No European vehicle meets those standards.
      People can pay tens of thousands of USD to convert vehicles and submit it to testing, but the EPA can take years to get that done. That’s all on paper though because in reality no one does it as passing isn’t guaranteed.
      Of course they’re YOUR friends. Ask them!
      Also, the BMW Mini Cooper was launched in the US in 2001, just as everywhere else.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Roger The latter makes no difference, but if you were stationed overseas for over 140 days you can bring a vehicle that conforms to US standards, free of duties, if you file a form with the EPA. If the vehicle does not conform to US DoT and EPA standards it must be converted at owner’s cost. The process takes 3-6 months and is very expensive. Your friends imported a Mini Cooper, which was already approved by the EPA as it was being sold in the US as well, with the same engine. They had to convert its lighting and a few other items and it cost them a bit, but the military at least pays for shipping back from Europe.
      If you aren’t a government employee stationed abroad you don’t get any of those allowances.
      Had this car not been on sale in the US, like say… a Mercedes B-Class, or with an engine that wasn’t sold in the US like a Diesel… it would have been nearly impossible to import.
      We have a HUGE market for Defenders here in the US and there are many companies in the UK that specialize in exporting old ones (25 years) after updating them to late year looks and content. You couldn’t get a 2000+ manufactured Defender here. Many were smuggled and crushed by the government upon discovery. New Defenders aren’t a problem as they’re sold here. Just pay 2.5% tariff, convert it to meet safety regulations and you’re good. I met two blokes in my neighborhood of NYC who have old Defenders, one a 1990s 110 from Germany and the other a 1980’s military 90 he found in Scotland. Both went through expensive processes to get them here.

    Nice review as always niece Tish. However, I would get the standard DS4 over the Cross version. I think the Cross version would have made more sense with AWD. Yes it’s gonna cost more and get a little worse gas mileage, but still.
    I think the DS4 is one of the greatest looking C-segment hatchbacks, as well as its sister car the Peugeot 308 MK3, but I really hate the fake exhausts.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. A pack of AWD is a miss here.

    • @kimgriffiths8850

      I totally agree with you about the "vanilla" DS4 being the best proposition and I think the best looking, apparently winning the title: "the most beautiful car of the year" judged by the great and good from the motor industry.
      I also agree with you about the Cross, it doesn't make much sense at all and IS the most expensive variant.
      As your neice says, just some Black plastic cladding, no 4 x 4, I honestly think DS with this Cross version have made a beautiful car look pretty ugly.
      I sort of get the Performance line, but again it's lacking when put by the side of the DS4 Vanilla, making it an expensive proposition.
      Performance line cars are a bit sparse and one has to pay for what should be standard.
      For me, the Vanilla DS4 in the Rivoli trim is the one to get.
      Trims lower down start to loose stuff like the semi autonomous drive assist, smart scan and even the scrolling rear indicators only come with the higher spec cars.
      There are some things that should be standard right across the line up and the rear scrolling indicators should be one of them!
      If DS are offering a luxury alternative to it's German peers, it really needs to offer all of the great technical stuff that makes it the car it is.
      Why bother offering stripped down versions of this car
      One could almost do a thesis on the muddled up mess that is the spec sheet for these cars.
      That given, I still want one.
      Thank you for your video Tish :-)

    • @DaveDVideoMaker
      @DaveDVideoMaker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kimgriffiths8850 Actually Tish is not my niece. I just like to call her that (like Uncle Roger refers to all his fans as niece and nephew). She’s okay with that.
      Anyways, I think crossover styled vehicles make more sense with AWD for sure. I see a lot of these crossover SUVs and crossover styled vehicles and a lot of them don’t have AWD, including the Fiesta Active and the Focus Active. I talked to an owner of a Focus ST MK4 about it, and he thought that the Focus Active was useless.

    Interesting review Tish. We don't appear to get the RHD new DS cars here in Australia. Even Citroen is considered a niche brand with a handful of new C5 Aircross for sale countrywide and some 2021 C4s looking for a home. Reliability and parts availability put most people off the Citroen DS brand. The back end of that DS 4 is definitely like the 308, must be a new corporate look. Fake exhaust pipes are yuk! But I struggle to see much of a market for the DS4, especially in the Cross version other than another "school run" car.

    • @AutoSocialUK
      @AutoSocialUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Citroen aren’t known for their outstanding reliability but parts are cheap in the uk so it’s worth the risk but if parts aren’t accessible I’m not surprised demand is low. The rest of the DS lineup is hard to place but I was really impressed with the DS4. They’ve been trying to run with the premium for a while now with no success but I think the 4 stands a chance!
