    I've had one for 4 years, apart from a couple of minor problems it has and is a very good car, high quality interior, comfortable and a great space to be. I've got the 2.2 diesel, good economy, enough acceleration. Heated seats and steering wheel, adaptive cruise etc...I had a lot of cars over my lifetime, without for me this has been the better one, its not perfect, nothing is, but it's not far short.

    Great review. It is a best seller in the US and here it also has really nice interiors that are beyond what the competitors offer and nearly on par with more premium brands. The rear or parking cameras are better than in the prior model. Real value for money, I think. I agree that hybrid drivetrains are going to be necessary since all competitors are offering these and a combination of gas prices and climate issues are pushing us in that direction.

  • @richfixescars
    @richfixescars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The interior is super high quality for the price point. I have been very happy with mine for 3 years. Only criticism is the lack of a turbo, but you get used to revving it out.

  • @cincyrovers
    @cincyrovers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great video, Tish! The CX-5 is insanely popular here in the US, where we get the NA 2.5 and also a turbocharged 2.5 with 250hp. It’s a great engine, but it runs out of steam around 5k rpm. I love how well the CX-5 handles. It’s no Macan, but it’s way better than it has any right to be. I’m excited for Mazda’s movement upmarket and their upcoming RWD platform and I6 engines.

  • @DaveDVideoMaker
    @DaveDVideoMaker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Well done niece Tish for 20K subs.
    Anyways, in North America, you can get the CX-5 with a 256 horsepower 2.5 litre turbo 4cyl (you get the 256hp if you fill with premium fuel). You only get 227hp if you fill with regular fuel. This is only available with AWD and a 6AT.

    I like this over most CUVs. That interior looks such a nice place to be!
    It's a real shame about the lack of hybrid. Non-hybrids could well be legislated out of cities in this cars lifetime

    my wife drives a cx5, first model, manufactured 2016,done more than 120k km. asides the normal maintenance there are no issues at all, so unbelievably realible
    its a 2.0 n/a, so its very economical, whether in town or highway driving, and the handling is dam good for a suv
    however it lacks ooomph below 2k rpm and runs out of steam before 6k rpm. for fast ovettaking its best to use the manual drive which iz more fun
    my nephew drives a diesel version, which has way more torque n very economical too

    The CX5 is nicer looking than the MX30, I think. I don't think I will ever warm to the latter.

      @jdmguy44 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like the slightly quirky look of the MX-30 and the trick suicide doors. I wouldn't buy it though for one reason - it's an EV. Shame they don't sell it here with an ICE/hybrid option as in the Japanese market .

    Thanks for not editing the rear-seat usb mistake, as it lends more honesty, and some humour, to the review.
    If you were to set a trend, and be the first to road-review a car in inner city or on suburban roads, at traffic lights and between width barriers, rather than on, as do most Reviewers, those roads where only those rich enough to use Rolls Royce's as their second car live, you'd receive from me even more respect.
    Thanks.

    Another top review Tish. All told in words such that you don't need a PhD in 'Discombobulation'. I really like the CX5 since the pre-facelift version though I didn't buy one. That lack of turbo on the petrol as you say may result in poorer fuel economy than some others. A great finish inside is a big welcome as are all the tactile buttons to control everything you might want to control on the move. Hopefully the next generation will include plug in hybrid and next generation technology all electric power. Great work Tish.

    I think it should be noted that even though this design has been out for around six or seven years with only very minor tweaks, it still looks excellent, including the interior that’s how strong the design is, I would almost go as far as to say that it’s a classic because once all the tech becomes out dated or no longer of any concern, the things that you are left with in this SUV, or going to be a great like the driving dynamics, the comfort the quietness, the styling are all very classic. It’s just a really nice car. All of the competition has made their car with the upsell in mind it could be the Toyota wanting you to go for the Lexus it could be the Honda CRV wanting you to go for an Acura and you can see it even because those cars used to be much quieter

    The sport black is called the carbon edition here in the US picked A 2022 one up last week for 31,000 US which was cheaper than A 2021 with 8000 miles on it it’s the first vehicle I have ever purchased that is worth more after I’ve drove it off the lot then I gave for it according to Kelley blue book.
    Although I am disappointed that the carbon edition does not come with heated steering wheel or Bose audio here in the US Due to chip shortages.

    What do you think about the wheel sizes? Those 19" looked just about ok, but those black wheel arches didn't seem to help.
    Would smaller wheels look really lost?

    Excellent review. Seems like an evolutionary refresh rather than anything too radical. I think that was a wise choice on Mazda's part as existing owners don't feel left behind. I do wonder how the gloss black on the exterior will wear - prone to scratching??

    I'd been wondering what I was going to do after Mitsubishi pulled out of the UK - Japan to the rescue once again! Proper diesel engines that will last are still a necessity for those of us who live out in the sticks & rarely go near a city. Should last at least a couple of circuits round the clock?

    Far superior that any German rival. Mazda should outsell Volkswagen due to higher quality and better reliability. In the UK for some unknown reason car buyers default to VW, expecting "German build quality" which is now a myth unless you buy a Miele washing machine! Good review thanks.

    Mazda have it right with no turbo on the petrol engine, 3 cylinder turbo small engines are crap and don’t last any real length of time especially if pulling a large car, probably Toyota or Honda will make theirs last as long as possible they are the two that will keep on working with quality materials, Mazda do make some very good cars and engines, My Ford Street KA has a Mazda designed engine 1.6 single cam
    Rocam/duratec engine, best mileage I have saw at the scrapyard is 214,000,
    So yes buy a Mazda with a good 4 cylinder non turbo 4 cylinder engine and change regular basis
