Good question. I wonder if they used an interface designer at all. The lack of physical controls for frequently used functions such heater adjustments makes we wonder what their design task mapping looked like. Did they do any user interface design testing with humans ??

@@DSAutomobilesUK I know touchscreens and so forth are cheaper but interior buttons are an opportunity for a point of differentiation (Bentley organ stops for example). In the future where cars become more and more homogenized this differentiation is going to become more and more important. Good question. I wonder if they used an interface designer at all. The lack of physical controls for frequently used functions such heater adjustments makes we wonder what their design task mapping looked like. Did they do any user interface design testing with humans ??
you killed me , ''led light are like ostrich legs''🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Badly drawn ostrich legs no less
They do let it down like
@@bighes100 but after all its a good car
Great design.
Beautiful car 😍😍😍😍
Great review💯😁👌🏿
How do you repair that fromt grill when your neighbours crash into it the second day you get it?!
Excellent review and so precise ! I didn’t know that the battery must be charged every night! This is what I call a good review! Thank you !
It would do infinite MPG if it were charged every night and the engine never used. The manufacturers of hybrids can make up any number they want! 😄
yep
It's not the manufacturer making the numbers up its the test the car goes through... I think the average speed during the test is 9mph and it also gets 60 seconds to accelerate to 30mph. It's a very silly test.
@@chrishart8548 Or on other words, they're just making it up, as I originally said!
@@phuketexplorer all the cars have to go through the same test. And the manufacturer doesn't set the rules. It also measures C02 thats why some manufacturers were able to cheat such as VW. This car is designed to pass a test. It can run battery only for a large part of the test. Hence the high mpg and low C02. There not made up! Manipulated is closer to the truth.
It's high enough.
Very lovely car 🥰
Lovely video
ALSO DS 4 PRICE RISE of 40 K PLUS put the rivoli ,performance line (cross or non cross ) and another fancy named one, into the £570 per annum ROAD TAX for next , so thats another 2 grand to pay on top of standard 170.00 till end of 5th year. I think now the E in the name is for EXPENSIVE LOL but i do admire the squashed suv styled body.
Beautifully designed interior and exterior. Lexus should send their designers on a 3-day course in the classroom of DS and Polestar.
Sadly, the experience ruined by mindless silly outbreak of screens! Why do manufacturers do this! Keep fan, vent, heating and stereo volume & tune controls manual. Always, always.
ALWAYS!!!!!!! I really can’t stand them, my shed on wheels Is on its last legs and I’ll have to get something with screens everywhere soon. I’m dreading it.
@@andymoss4285 Screens and all those hidden functions are a total disgrace and a dangerous distraction. Plus you can't operate them with gloves on.
I think regulators should step in and force them to keep vital ops like fan, vent, heat, tune, vol, on buttons/rotary switches.
Looks more modern and futuristic with screens that’s why
@Konstantin Ridaya beauty is in the eye of the beholder and besides the LC Lexus makes the most boring looking luxury vehicles on the road😩😀 some of them don’t even look “luxury”
@Konstantin Ridaya The original IS-200 and the LC-500 are certainly very beautiful cars. But all the rest are just vomit-inducing design.
Compare that to the cars from Afla Romeo, for example. Lexus really need to drop that awful grille and they need a new designer for their exterior designs.
You can still see the navigation on the heads up display... 9:51
This looks favourite to replace my Cupra formentor phev next year....it looks amazing.
Car reviews don't get any better
I hope one day I would be watching you review togg c-suv.
It's just perfect
I want this car. Hope they coke too Australia soon
It was all looking good until we got to the infotainment system and controls. The manufacturers are repeatedly putting strange controls that are bad to use. Why is the AC hidden in the screen awkwardly when there’s buttons already? Why are there 2 different controls for each air vent!?!
Awesome review sir
It is BEAUTIFUL
Nice video but you didn’t show us the party trick keyless entry you mentioned in the beginning
That was kind of it. It opens when you approach, and closes when you walk away. You never need the key.
AutoTrader no worries thought it may have been a little mistake great videos as always
This car looks lovely
Shopping on the same group PSA I'd rather have a new Peugeot 308, I think it has most of the strong points of the DS and none of the weak ones.
Oh right
I am always sad to see cup holders in the backseat armrest, that can't be covered up.
I still have my old ds3 and I love the look and the quirks of the ds ranges. Criterion have always done something different does it always work no but are they boring not at all.
That top of the range model in Ireland is just a shade under €60k...........it's a world gone mad when you consider the size class it is in.
Waiting for DS to come to India. Stylish and practical?! 💫❤🤸♂️
How do you check the mpg I’ve got one can’t check
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. The Best Luxury Family Hatchback 👪
This is really nice.
Get a Chevy volt in the summer on only 10 kilowatt they get 50miles on battery only it a fantastic plug in hybrid
Great review. £40,000 that’s what I paid for my Range Rover. I know it’s not a hybrid but I won’t be changing any time soon. Has Land Rover said what they have planned regarding going electric ?
Range Rover which will break down regularly after 6 months...
🤦♂️
I wouldn’t touch Land Rover with a 10 foot pole literally so unreliable they make BMW look good in terms of reliability lol
Iv just changed my range rover to this. I love it and much more modern and refined.
@@Carfan678 I'm sure they are just fine
11:43 Rory, I'm sure Citroen would like us all to think a 4 inch touch screen costs £2000 but take it from me its probably less than £2
I finally surpassed the factory listed 22.2 km pr litre of 95 my Twingo 1.2 75hp 16v was listed with.
B roads, flooring It when going downhill and crawling to the red light.
Its all about driving style.
Omg this is beautiful. Americaaaaa. Wtf. We need this
Perfect review, thanks Rory nice details, especially now that the EU has set a 2035 deadline for petrol car manufacturers. We need to start understanding more and more of those hybrid/electric cars in our daily lifes
Agreed. I'm pretty excited tbh
@@JayDee-b5u Well they're more likely to stick to it than other manufacturers. They're relatively new and getting rid of existing models won't be as difficult. In fact, it would probably be better for DS from a financial perspective. Newer companies are more successful when they're electric, and they don't need to compete with the German ICE vehicles that dominate the segment.
@@DSAutomobilesUK Wow that is a changing point in Automotives, I hope the company will also bare in mind the customer affordability especially in developing countries and offer low cost hybrid/electric models. As more inflation rises and financial debt crisis are expected to hype, cheaper electric models are a vital tool for company survival
@@JayDee-b5u Says Jay Dee in the week where filling up the average car hit the £100 barrier for the first time ever. IC engines are over. The UK has banned the sale of new cars with IC engines from 2030, 8 short years away from now so there's no point manufacturers spending billions developing a new IC engine that they can only sell for 4 or 5 years. They wont make a return on combustion engines. Electric is here and the focus should be on countries generating more power from renewables.
@@DSAutomobilesUK I know touchscreens and so forth are cheaper but interior buttons are an opportunity for a point of differentiation (Bentley organ stops for example). In the future where cars become more and more homogenized this differentiation is going to become more and more important.
Also any cars which requires a touchscreen to change major controls like HVAC and volume is an instant do not buy for me; it tells me the designers were lazy, the finance team was a bit too involved and it's also far less safer than physical controls that you can feel for without taking your eyes off the road (and no, I don't want to use voice control; if I'm listening to a podcast I have to pause the podcast, pause my train of thought, spend a few seconds talking to the car then hope that it does what I asked. Pushing a button or turning a dial literally takes a second and comes without the added annoyances I just described).
Best thing about these Citroen's? They'll depreciate like mad and will be a great 2nd hand purchase in no time at all.
It's a DS not a Citroen as they're now two separate entities. Plus the DS7 crossback and new DS3 crossback have held up their value.
@@adrimute lets be real m8, they share a lot of components with the PSA group even tho they're separate entities.
@@sriharidesai7606 yeh but by that logic DS is actually a Peugeot.
@@patriotbarrow it is mostly a Peugeot 308 underneath but with a better suspension and some clever tech
@@adrimute that’s true! They hold the value really good. My DS3 Crossback depreciated only by 3500£ from September last year..🤣🤣
beautiful car
Great review.
For those who just want to know the battery size of the PHEV version - 12.4 kWh
Does it not have voice controls ?. Even my old 2012 Lexus CT200h, i just say "Temperature 21c" and it does it. Dont have to touch anything.
It does
You can control the full climate system with Iris.
Could you please test, the Cupra formentor plug in hybrid?? I think that is better fun drive car than DS!
Looks a lot more posh and stylish than the Germans
I love this car
Always liked french car design but some of the design and control elements are so convoluted. Like they got halfway to refining it and then went ‘that’ll do’
You bumper goes with those light if you in an accident
Do the headlights have active shadowing?
Yes
@@dufonrafal cool, finally
Love it but they need a chrome delete option!
Very nice inside and out
Could you please confirm if the interior quality is really good ?
Never fully grasped these claimed mpg figures. How many miles would it do on a full tank in hybrid mode?
These are saying if you use the plug in hybrid as a plug in hybrid (EV mode for 90% of short commutes, hybrid for those occasional longer journeys) you will get that MPG figure.
@@djenson so if you use 90% electricity and only 10% petrol. You get 10x as far on the fuel.
@@chrishart8548 Exactly that.
Vert nice looking cars. the unedcated car snobs will be out in force again. He also wrong about the infotainment you dont lose your sat nav and you can transfers it to your dash screen. One of the shortcut buttons is for heating and fans so you just select that and it has all controls on screen. Reselecting satnav does not lose anything.
I have a DS3 crossback. Additionally you can't use Citroën dealers for services so make sure there is a dealer near you. My car been off the road for 4 months since March 2021 not for big issues but issues they can't fix due to supply chain issues etc. When it's running right lovely cars to drive but those little things in tech are a pain and slowly eat away at you.... Nice car, nice looks but I'll thought out design
The supply issues plague all manufacturers. Even Mercedes has issues providing repairs due to supply chain problems. It is not bad design of DS.
People say go from gas to EV but I say to hybrid first
Don't most fully electric cars have to cover over 70,000miles just to break even with carbon creation. Hybrid is the only way right now.
Excellent!
RORY or anyone that might have a credible reply, please explain UP TO 232 MPG quote possible from 1 gallon of fuel and a fully charged battery that can give if your careful 30 odd ELECTRIC DRIVEN miles BEFORE you have to PLUG IN " waiting 2 hours plus" for it to recharge .
manufacturers totally exaggerated numbers ( sue me ) . Lucky if you get a 30 to 38 mpg alone from the 1 gallon petrol cost and ADD that to electric power only cost £s = if lucky the DS4 E tense MIGHT travel on a single trip 70ish miles ONLY BEFORE A CALL TO THE RESCUE SERVICE . Add to that the MASSIVE 5/ 6 k price hike since showroom launch april /may 2022 ????? Did they suddenly realise that this wasnt going to actually effect the german brands sales in similar sized sector in UK and said , UK mkt isnt gonna be very lucrative , so the ones who are enamoured by the chic styling will have to pay premium wonga for the ds 4. Good thing for Ds4 used mkt is the price rise since 2022 launch has supported stronger 2nd hand values for those who purchased just after showroom launch.
Interesting option, never heard of DS before. Thanks for informing us. As tested, the configuration oTR would be£43k
Yes, you have; Citroen.
DS has a brand is new, but they come from Citroën.
The name comes from the 1955 Citroën DS and the first “modern” DS is the Citroën DS3.
Originally it was a premium lineup within Citroën and they where heavily based on Citroën’s (the previous Citroën DS4 was based on the Citroën C4)
But now they have been separated from Citroën and the first “non-Citroën” car they made is the DS 7 Crossback.
It's been around for ages and ages. DS3 anyone ?
@@barrybritcher Well, technically it was a Citroën.
2009 : Citroën DS 3
2014 : DS as a brand
2017 : DS 7 Crossback (the first DS that is not a Citroën)
So 2017, not that long ago.
@@dufonrafal Let's not forget the DS5. I ran the Hybrid4 version for a few years and still like the design.
Stellantis needs to partner Chrysler and DS. Sell DS cars in North America as Chryslers. It allows DS to expand without spending a fortune on marketing, and gives Chrysler new products to sell
Form should follow function.
A simple Toyota hybrid corolla cross is superb to this
