IP MAN: KUNG FU MASTER harks back to Ip’s early days before the Communist Revolution in 1949. @@XtremeDrake yes and having a hand axe of that size which is thrown regularly it therefor would not make any sense at all for say those closest to just retreat to a bit of distance and then all of them just throwing on command at the same time, right? No that wouldn't make sense at all in a fantasy movie =)
Don't get wrong i very often enjoyed these overthe top superhero power type of movies. Hero, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon are all excelent and i watched them many times, but ever since i saw Kung Fu Hustle i think i am spoiled for those who try to portray these types of films in a serrious fashion hrhr.

These movies were the stories of an actual regular man, what it was like in early 1900s China, what he had to face during wartime, foreign occupation of his land, and how one brave man could send a strong message to his enemies AND his friends. This is just a ridiculous parody.

IPman 1, When here he asked to take on 10 Japanese fighters and then he beat them all to a bloody pulp, that had more emotion, meaning, epicness, and impact than this version of Ipman. This is just too ridiculous.

My main point is that the right context and build up plays an important role in these types of fights. In Ipman one when he fought those 10 men, he did for the honor of his friend and people. He didnt take the 10 bags of rice but instead grabbed the bloody one and took it to his family. I mean I would have taken atleast 1 good bag for the family to eat but what he did was symbolism of honor and dignity. Details like that make for a good story so that when you see a fight scene light this, it becomes more engaging and you feel you are in the pressence of the character and living thd moment. Okay so if you read this far, join me in watching that fight in Ipman 1 and lete get some perspective :D

And always one after the other. Only those from the front attack and those behind him just prance around and wait for their turn. And the best comes in the end: the ax slides exactly along the arm without even roughly cutting it, he pushes it away with his elbow and then hits the ax so hard that the guy flies backwards and a whole shelf knocks over. It's also not unrealistic at all.
Also mention one person attack at a time method.

i love the IP Man movies
In real life, he'd be dead in seconds. Donnie Yen's Ip Man is much better in this regard because it shows he can fight multiple opponents but it's not overdone like this.
