I love my walking pad. I don’t use it for work, just to walk while I watch TV or listen to a podcast. I live in a place where the weather isn’t great a good part of the year so it’s a lifesaver.
i use a stationary bike and under the desk bike because my knees dont like treadmills or walking as body movement and i never have static with my bike rides so maybe try biking, thats my only tip
This was helpful to decide I don’t think it’s for me. I have to drag and drop files a lot into smaller areas on my screen for my work and I do a lot of typing and I just don’t think I’d be able to do both. I think it would distract me and I wouldn’t work as efficiently. But the girlies are making me feel kinda guilty like “oh this is a way to get more movement that’s easy” … but not all of us have jobs where that works well? Or coordination! 😂 I have a full size treadmill I take walks on every day and honestly it’s a better idea to walk away from my desk and get the break!
So I have done this daily for over a year and lost 80 lbs. If you want to track your steps put your watch on your shoes like your laces or your ankle otherwise if it's on your wrist it won't track. I looped it through the part on the tongue. I do around 12,000 steps
@@rachelwoudy7530 No if you're on a treadmill but resting your hands on a keyboard it won't count enough steps! Same with if you're pushing a stroller, it doesn't count the steps when on your wrist so I wear it on my ankle!
@lalalaAli yes exactly. I found when working and my hands are resting on my desk it doesn't track, so I bought a stretchy band to fit around my ankle but if some ppl don't want to buy that they can put it through the loops on their shoe where the tongue is and it serves the same purpose. 🙂
I got one through my job wellness stipend. I liked it but it was hard to type, and my job consisted of a lot of typing. Also, I had the idea of using it during zoom meetings but those that require cameras on… it was not feasible to use the walking pad. It is heavier than I thought, so that’s another thing to think about. At the end, mine lasted like 3-4 months before it stopped working. I was offered to replace a motor replacement, but I am not a mechanic. I had to let it go and don’t have money to replace it. Do get oil to oil your pad (that’s important). Also, if you are considering getting one look for the dimensions-if you are tall or have a long step, some strips might be too short for you,and you’ll trip.
I currently have a very old treadmill but I've been considering the walking pad. I'm kinda hoping this fad dies out so theres a bunch on facebook marketplace lol!
I have a Sperax that I got for about $200 on Black Friday. It has a handle bar and I use it almost every day, usually while watching TV (it’s quiet). I use a pedometer app to measure steps. I needed something small and affordable. It doesn’t incline, but it does go up to 6mph, more than enough for my needs. I’ve never had any problem with static.
I wish you tried it for 30 days like Sierra! It would’ve been more helpful and well tested if it was used more consistently so you can try fixing the cons you mentioned (the static, the cords, etc) and then reporting back. Sometimes it feels like the comments are helping you more than vice versa lol
That’s valid! I felt the same but didn’t know how to express it. Grateful for the review because I love Carrie’s videos, but it seemed like it was putting forth a less than optimal amount of effort into this. Hopefully it will be considered next time in overall review!
But isn't this just a real review though? She felt like she couldn't get into it and it was a faff to get out every day. The static was annoying when working etc. That's real life and I was considering getting one but I'm exactly the same and I know now I'd probably just not bother after a week. It's a real person doing a real review on if it's worth the hype in their opinion. She tried to get into it over a few months and simply couldn't. It's not a review on how much her weight or body changes, and she addressed it didnt help her focus etc. It was just a simple 'is it worth it'? I bet there's a ton more informative videos on TH-cam though! 🙂
It’s a good thing there’s another TH-camr you know who reviewed it in the way YOU wanted. No one has to cater their content to each individual member of their audience.
I'm all for constructive criticism but that last sentence was really rude 😕 Carrie has already mentioned feeling a bit burnt out by TH-cam recently and I'm sure these videos take a lot of time and effort. Also what's the point in comparing her to another creator? If you prefer the way the other creator reviewed the product then maybe just watch their video? Just seems like your comment was less constructive and more comparative and mean.
My walking pad came with oil (you lube under the tread lol) and never have static! Maybe email the company for oil? Also, mine came with an Allen key that you use on the back roller and it adjusts the tension of the track. It should not be off center. I bought the one that Sierra has (Sharewin) and it’s been great! It also has an option to turn off the beep!
I've been doing this treadmill thing too - twice a day for an hour. I haven't done any computer work while walking and I've never had any adhd or other mental issues, so I can't comment on that. But I've cleared my gigantic backlog of podcasts and netflix shows, plus I've lost 12 pounds, so I can definitely recommend this!
On the hip flexor-treadmill thing: I get that too, and I think it’s because the track(?) limits your gait width. That might mean that you’re forced to subconsciously pull in your legs and that puts stress on your hip flexors. Not a physio person at all, but that’s what I’ve experienced.
The hip flexor issue could be because of the way you walk while in a treadmill. When we walk outside, we unconsciously vary our stride for the terrain. Treadmils are static, and a specific area, so we repeat the same stride for the duration of the walk.
I think the virality is a bunch of BS! I have a walking pad but I use it for walking in the mornings because it was cheaper than a legit treadmill and I know I never want to run. But there's no way you can really spend hours working on a computer/lap top while walking on a walking pad (unless all you do for work is watch stuff). There's too much instability/body movement to use a mouse or keyboard while walking. Everybody is just lying about it to look like they are a fit girlie/guy.
exactly! there's also no need to walk for the majority of your day. a major benefit of standing desks is changing up your position, not that you should stand all day. the walking pad is also helpful for maybe a couple hours of walking per day. more than that is unnecessary, and the pads aren't made to handle the usage volume either.
I’ve been using this same walking pad since October 2023. I have never experienced the static issue personally. I sometimes use corded earbuds but I usually use Bluetooth so maybe that’s why. I have carpet in my office so my walking pad goes on that heavy duty plastic chair pad that I already have there for my chair. I do find that when I walk and work, an hour can fly by before I know it so I do think it helps with focus! It also encourages me to stay at my desk for longer stretches at a time because I tend to get up a lot while I work because I’m just antsy or bored. I bet that editing could be really difficult while walking. I work mostly in spreadsheets and it’s ok the majority of the time but when I’m trying to do some more detailed work, I have to work really hard to click my mouse in the exact right spot. 🙃
I may have a solution for the treadmill belt shifting to one side. I have a small folding treadmill and the same thing happens with mine every time I use it. The issue causing mine to shift: uneven floors. It's really annoying, but here's what I do to fix it: My treadmill came with an L shaped screwdriver tool. I turn the treadmill on and increase the speed to 1. Then I use the tool on the right side corner of the treadmill (the one on the end of the treadmill that doesn't have the screen with the numbers on it). There should be a hole that the tool fits into in that corner. Put the tool in it and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise, then wait a full minute to see if the belt moves over (it should). Repeat until the belt is centered. If you find that the belt still moves more to the left again when you walk on it, then the next time you adjust the belt, adjust it until there's a gap on the left side instead of the belt being centered (to compensate for the shifting that happens while you're using the treadmill). I personally always have to adjust it so there's enough of a gap on the left side, so that whenever I use the treadmill and it shifts, it doesn't shift so far that it's completely on the left and not the right. Also, make sure to oil the treadmill sometimes. Not sure how often yours needs it, but I oil mine once a month. Hope these tips help!
I bought a walking pad and don’t feel stable walking and not watching my feet on it. So I’ve learned I’ll just walk in place while watching tv. Same difference, but I feel more stable.
I Bought grounding shoe straps for my sneakers and the static is completely gone, It has been a life changer, I found it on Amazon for a couple bucks for a two-pack .
I've been watching many reviews on these kinds of treadmills, and the tread moving to one side is a common occurence. Most treadmills I've seen come with a little wrench to adjust the tread if it moves to one side, it's just a part of having a treadmill that is 1/20th the price of commercial equipment
I know this one has been up for a while but just as a heads up for anyone considering: my walking pad knocks off my wifi every time. Which defeats the purpose if you need to work or be available for calls 😢 I believe it's OK if you can connect directly to the ethernet but I'm not in a position to do that!
The problem you're having with the static you have it over a rug remember when we were little kids and we would rub our feet on the rug and create static and you would put a balloon over your head and your hair would stand up on its ends... well that's exactly what's happening with the treadmill it's creating a bunch of static over that rug try it without the rug.
I bought a walking pad after Sierra'a video and love it! I found it to be veeeery unpractical to always move it from under my desk to another place in the room, so instead of using the walking pad while I work, i use it while i read. I'm a fan of romance books so whenever i read, i walk, and it's been a wonderful combo for me, it allows me to move a lot more! I still use my standing desk everyday for work, i love it. So yeah, i use them both daily but separately😂
I live in Iowa and I love to walk outside after I have my lunch and when it’s summer or winter I can’t walk outside. So I just prop my walk pad in front of a window after I eat my lunch and I get in another couple 1,000 steps! So living in California it would be hard for me to want to walk on a pad instead. Great video Carrie. Have a great day!❤
I wfh full time 8-5 M-F and a standing desk has been such a game changer for me! My hips were getting so sore every day from sitting.. I’ve been following the rule (loosely lol) of for every 2 hours of sitting, do 1 hour of standing.. Granted some days I just sit the whole time but it’s nice to have the option! I think I draw the line on adding in a treadmill, it would be so hard to convince myself to use it each day. Thanks for the honest review on all of it! So curious how many people will still be using these desk treadmills in a year or two. also those red glasses on you are my fave, you look awesome
I work at meijer pick up so I walk from 5am to 1:30pm or 4am to 12:30pm. So when I get home I'm super tired and don't wanna walk my legs are jelly I get 20,000 or more a day just doing pick up. But it looks like a wonderful idea doe people who aren't in retail. I do have a standing desk already when I'm done with retail and doing something else who knows when I'll try this. I really want a desk hammock
Nice idea in theory, but I could not concentrate and work and walk at the same time lol. I think most people would be better off just going for a more intense walk or run before or after the work - it's not that hard to get up an extra half an hour early and go for a more intense walk (on the treadmill/walking pad if the weather is bad or ideally outside). Pretty sure it's also been studied that humans actually can't properly multi-task - we just end up doing both tasks poorly than if we separated them and put all our effort into each task.
This comment sounds judgmental... I walk my dog in the trails every morning before work and every afternoon at a local college campus, so I do get my intense walk and get my dose of fresh air, but I am so excited to try this (waiting for delivery) because sitting for long periods of time hurts my back and my neck, and standing for long periods of time hurts my feet and calves. I can't wait to try this!
@@lucyloor1072 Good for you lol, enjoy it. I'm sure it has its uses, just like any treadmill. I'm just saying I don't think I could be productive with work and do a proper workout at the same time, I would rather separate them and do both more effectively.
My job is a little monotonous, I work heavily in excel, and I’ve been using this treadmill since January. On average I use for 2 hours per workday, and it’s been a game changer! It definately keeps me more engaged. Though, If I need to think through a work problem, I do need to sit down. The treadmill is certainly not perfect, but it’s a good starter treadmill, and I may invest in a better one next year
I would love to try this in my office at work, but the room is long and skinny (like 7 x 20) and my door is also the only pedestrian door to our warehouse with my desk right next to it. Between people tripping over it and shoes bringing water in (Pacific Northwet, yo), it just won't work. 😥
So I don't have a standing desk but I do have a walking pad. I got it for $130 on Amazon. It is hard to stay consistent, but the only thing I can really do is watch TV while I'm on it. I got it primarily because I can't take outdoor walks while the pollen is super high and it is great for when I want to take a walk. It's easy to store underneath my bed. I have also gotten distracted, lost my balance a few times, and nearly fell off! I haven't had any issues with static in headphones while using it. Mine came with oil that you put under the tread. Also I use it on carpeted floor, so that might also tie into it.
I'm a teacher so I can never sit at work lol but I keep a walking pad under the couch in my living room and in the evenings walk while watching TV. I love it!!
The hip pain on treadmills is a thing!!! Probably not an option on a walking pad, but on a true treadmill, it's best for your hips to be at a slight incline
I like my walking pad a lot. I don’t use to work at a desk but as a light indoor workout! I have bad asthma so walking outside isn’t always an option. I also live in an apartment so this is easier to store than a full sized treadmill!
I have a treadmill I walk/jog on before work. One weekends I'll listen to podcasts while I walk. I bought a like....food table for over a bed that has wheels and lifted it enough that I can use it with my exercise bike. But I only use this in meeting when I mostly need to listen or to pedal and read. I'm too uncoordinated to do anything else on a treadmill.
The walking pad should have come with a kit to calibrate the belt. Also, switch your headphones for over the ear headphones. They can still be corded, but I noticed switching my headphones from the in ear to over the ear made a difference in the weird noises.
I have a different one from Carrie's but have tried a few and seen other people's. The pads are not silent, they tend to be a bit louder than a normal treadmill. I got a cheap noise absorption mat made for under workout machines specifically and that helps a lot with the motor noise, because it isn't travelling directly through the floor.
This wouldn’t work in my case for working, but for watching TV sounds like a such a great idea 😊 it’s freezing in Melbourne during winter and ain’t nobody want to go out to exercise 😅
The small space thing is the main reason I didn't invest in the walking pad (already had a standing desk). Also I like to sit to type / work on spreadsheets (majoring of my job) so I couldn't see myself going back and forth from moving the pad back and forth or where to store it. For me, I found a walking pad called Ergofit. It's a short treadmill, like half the length I think. It is elevated a few inches so you also walk on a slight incline the whole time. I found this was way easier to tuck into a corner and hop on it when I want. It's not out of sight so I had to get use to seeing it in my space (not very aesthetic lol). But I've been walking on it four days a week since April 1. Hung up a blank monthly calendar on the wall by the treadmill to check off my walk (I'm big on lists and checking off items). 😅. Oh and mounted a tiny shelf to the wall facing the treadmill so I could stand by phone or Kindle. Letting my mind rest from work and watching YT for 20 minutes while I walk is just a nice destresser
I envy those of you with enough coordination to make this work. I have fallen off my treadmill (with a much wider deck) trying to respond to a text message. 😂🤕
Honestly I hated it. I could not type while walking and that thing is heavy AF. I have the same walking pad ❤and tbh I am thinking of selling it. I live in a small space and it’s just too much
I can barely walk without falling down, so I don't want to know which bone I will break if I try walking+ studying/working! I'm glad it works for someone though !
I love my walking pad but mainly because I have a high step goal, if I didn’t have a step goal I probs wouldn’t use it nearly as much because without a goal to work towards I cba to set it up😂
Thank you for this honest review! I've been thinking about getting one of these as I'm housebound and want to get moving more without leaving the house but it's pricey and I have so many exercise items lying around the house unused after a brief flurry of exercising 😅
Your outfit is so great. I love love love those glasses on you! This video felt like a great pep talk. You said a lot that struck such chords with me. Thank you! 💕
I think your issue is the brand of walking pad you have. I got the Sharewin and it’s great! No moving belt or static. It’s a little more expensive but it’s longer and more sturdy. It was something I wanted to spend more on to have better quality
Hi Carrie, this isn’t about the walking pad (which is also intriguing, I’ve used a treadmill desk and liked it!) but I’m wondering if you could share a link to the lighting you use in your office for filming? It looks like you use natural light from windows but do you also add lights? Thanks!
I have been thinking about getting one since Sierra did the same experiment and I might. As far as I know you aren't supposed to use it on carpet because it could cause fire and static. Maybe try it on just the floor 💡 For the static you could try and ground the pad using a clip on the pad and on something like a radiator.
Have you thought that perhaps a lot of the static might be coming from the clothing you're wearing while working out? Have you tried some anti-static spray especially in between where your thighs rub together?
My husband has ADHD and we keep a little stepper thing and a foldable bike in the office, which he can spend hours on reading and doing other things. 😄
I have had a standing desk for 5 years. but within the last 6 months i wanted something else to do in the winter when its too cold to walk or i want to play my video games and still get some walking in. I love my walking pad. I found one that is extra wide and extra long. I use it alot when i am even just watching tv.
I feel like I'm the only person on Earth who can't do things while I'm walking on a treadmill 😂
My ass would be flying off that thing in no time
I've tried to read many times and I can't focus on the words with all the bouncing from walking.
Meeee tooo 🙋🏾
Same! I have literally fallen off my treadmill trying to respond to a text. 😂 🤕
I tried it for one day and returned the treadmill. I absolutely cannot walk and type at all
🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Having a walking pad during winter has really helped me!!! And during the heat
You can also use it for fashion videos! Use it as a catwalk for try ons!🤗
HAHAHA love this idea 😂

I wish I had an office so I could get one!!! I still work at my kitchen table😂
I’ve heard a dryer sheet helps decrease static…like tuck it or tie it by your sock …not sure that’s the fix you want but worth throwing out there.
Where is that gingham high neck top from????
I'm pretty sure old navy, but its a few years old so I don't think they still carry that pattern

How loud do you think this would be in an apartment? Do you think if doubled on mats underneath it could maybe work upstairs?

There’s tightening levers in the back to fix the leveling issue and oil that should’ve came in your box! I hope that helps!
this is sooo helpful, thank you!!
I think the type of job you have really matters too! I'm a graphic designer and no matter how hard I try I cannot walk and design at the same time
i had to wait to edit my thumbnails when i wasn't walking because there's no way i could do that!! so i hear you, i don't blame you at all!

The band should always be oiled and it should have come with a tool that allows you to straighten out the band 😊
You walk and read? Woaaa, I’d be flat on the floor in less than a minute 😅
Have a great day!❤
1:20 ding ding!! another ADHD'er right over here lol!
Walking pad gave me severe vertigo the first time i used it and now i'm scared to use it again:(
I’m loving the editing in this !
You should try the cozy girl workout with the walking pad!
Yeah interesting and good review
I read and use my walking pad!!
Always an excuse for everything 🙄
cute dog! hope you have a great day ❤
I work at meijer pick up so I walk from 5am to 1:30pm or 4am to 12:30pm.
When I vacuum at work with headphones I get little zaps. It's wild....not very fun! And I clean houses so I'm also sweating my was off! Lol
The glasses are giving Sally Jesse Raphael and I love it. Slay! ❤
I dont think i could walk while working either but ive thought about getting one of the sitting bike feet thing.
I like my walking pad a lot. I don’t use to work at a desk but as a light indoor workout! I have bad asthma so walking outside isn’t always an option. I also live in an apartment so this is easier to store than a full sized treadmill!
Under the bed is where I would put it... compact with rollers awesome
Thank you, ive been thinking of getting one instead of a treadmill for exercise
I have a treadmill I walk/jog on before work. One weekends I'll listen to podcasts while I walk. I bought a like....food table for over a bed that has wheels and lifted it enough that I can use it with my exercise bike. But I only use this in meeting when I mostly need to listen or to pedal and read. I'm too uncoordinated to do anything else on a treadmill.
Do you still have your stationary bike??
We had to give it away when we moved into our current place because there was no room! I miss it though!! 😭
I have magnet track thing on the back of my desk legs that I can run cables through but I really invested in my desk from Uplift.
It's definitely better than just standing 😊
The walking pad should have come with a kit to calibrate the belt. Also, switch your headphones for over the ear headphones. They can still be corded, but I noticed switching my headphones from the in ear to over the ear made a difference in the weird noises.
yeah we have to move the belt every once in a while on ours also
i am sobbing at the hannah montana transition 😭😭😭
I’m liking the memes in the video 😂
Haven't finished the vid but does the walking pad make noise? I want to grab one but for an office....
I have a different one from Carrie's but have tried a few and seen other people's. The pads are not silent, they tend to be a bit louder than a normal treadmill. I got a cheap noise absorption mat made for under workout machines specifically and that helps a lot with the motor noise, because it isn't travelling directly through the floor.
the glassessssssssssss
also the editing ate 🩷
Does it wake Drew??
Was literally about to buy one yesterday. Excited to watch this first!
❤❤❤
Did you try taking your earrings off?
yes definitely!!
Honestly I hated it. I could not type while walking and that thing is heavy AF. I have the same walking pad ❤and tbh I am thinking of selling it. I live in a small space and it’s just too much
the editing 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 so good
You can get the standing desk in Rustic brown for $119 rn 😊
LOVE the red glasses!!
Love, love love your glasses!!
I can barely walk without falling down, so I don't want to know which bone I will break if I try walking+ studying/working! I'm glad it works for someone though !
I am exactly the same. Having the ground moving under me is very unsettling
I LOVE my walking pad!! I asked for it for Christmas after seeing my mom use hers. Game. Changer.
I love my walking pad but mainly because I have a high step goal, if I didn’t have a step goal I probs wouldn’t use it nearly as much because without a goal to work towards I cba to set it up😂
Joyful movement content is my FAVORITE
Same!!
Thank you for this honest review! I've been thinking about getting one of these as I'm housebound and want to get moving more without leaving the house but it's pricey and I have so many exercise items lying around the house unused after a brief flurry of exercising 😅
I ended up putting my walking pad next to my desk. That way I can just hop on when I feel like it through out day.
Your outfit is so great. I love love love those glasses on you! This video felt like a great pep talk. You said a lot that struck such chords with me. Thank you! 💕
I think I would prefer stationary bike or elliptical for under a desk if such thing exists
I think your issue is the brand of walking pad you have. I got the Sharewin and it’s great! No moving belt or static. It’s a little more expensive but it’s longer and more sturdy. It was something I wanted to spend more on to have better quality
Most desks have the tray on the back to hide the cords. The standing desk has forgotten how to make desks...
this is fascinating, thank you!! the shocking situation is sooo weird :/
Hello from Switzerland, Carrie! 🥰
You want so badly to be on trend and like the other girls .
I have one from deer run. Mine came with an Allen wrench to adjust the track. It does need it from time to time
The glasses are giving Sally Jessy Raphael vibes and I’m loving it!
Maybe try it on just the floor 💡
For the static you could try and ground the pad using a clip on the pad and on something like a radiator.
I find it so hard to do computer work while I walk. I just watch tv or scroll my phone! This works better for me.
I have had a standing desk for 5 years. but within the last 6 months i wanted something else to do in the winter when its too cold to walk or i want to play my video games and still get some walking in. I love my walking pad. I found one that is extra wide and extra long. I use it alot when i am even just watching tv.
You had me at the Hannah Montana transitions
