Decided it would cost a second Mortage. Decided I would find an affordable way. Found your channel and now I’m pretty sure I can do this. Anyways the wife told me not to burn down the house. But I just wanted to say thank you.
Haha yeah it can get expensive! It doesn’t have to be though. And angle grinder is cheap and will speed things along. Other then that files are all you need....and some patience 😀

Hopefully ill be upgrading my tools here soon and can start doing more involved/ larger projects. Finding the time to do videos as of late is tough though. G-flex is the best epoxy I've ever used. I have tons of experience with fiberglass repair among other various repairs and it is the toughest epoxy on the market in my opinion. You could glue a tractor to a ceiling with that stuff. Expensive but worth it.

Nice job. That’s exactly the type of knife I enjoy making. The only thing I didn’t care for was the look of the flat grind being eaten out by the vinegar. The shape of the knife and the scales were awesome!!! I’ll be watching this video several more times. Thanks
Cutting out the paper template with a pocket knife. Priceless. Us mortal craftsmen go to the box of razor blades. And the end tests are still impressive. How you beat on all your time and effort, makes me sweat and it not even my "time or effort". :) Maybe splitting a bullet with one of your blades is in the future? I bet .22 plinkster would help! Thanks again for the craftsmen lesson.

I really liked the new knife that was meant to look old. Good useful knife. I always liked drop points for gutting and skinning and its hefty enough for a lot of uses. Might I suggest bois d'arc, desert iron wood, or mesquite for handle scales. They're hard enough to take a polish. Also, J.B. weld for glue. It will bond anything, will stand extreme heat and isn't bothered much by moisture.
Once again great job looks terrific .As you know vinegar is a power full agent on steel ,even cleaning a old knife that I found in the mountains all rusted up ,took the handle of laid it in some vinegar and just watched it on and of for about an hour mazing watching the rust to float of some settled to the bottom of the dish while some just floated away . Needs to be watched though it just never stops eating away .Happy Trails
For sure. Ive used vinegar on old rusted axes and its worked very well. I was surprised it ate into the steel the way it did though. Although thats exactly what I wanted so no harm done😀

This reminds me of the time my grandmother purchased a shelf thinking it was an antique, and the makers facebook information was on a sticker on the bottom. it is interesting how some people (myself included) often try to make objects look older than they are.

Old vid. It is interesting to me that of all the knifemaking/bushcraft channels I've perused, This style of knife keeps popping up. It resembles the Camillus Becker Campanion. It also resembles the Wilkinson Type D survival knife & the MOD survival knife. Nice work!

it's crazy what the vinegar did to that blade and I really like your epoxy mixing plate..three strips of duct tape. I usually use aluminum foil but I think I like your ability to make use out the things around you..lots of fun to watch.
You can make knives out of old lawn mower blades. I knew of a man who made knives for New PBR riders. He used old lawn mower blades. Not sure how many PBR riders he did it for but every time they stopped in town he made sure they each got one of his handmade knives. Very well built too. Was gonna go learn the trade at his shop but he passed away before i got a chance.
You did a great job. Keep up the good work, and yeah I seriously doubt anyone is going to get an exact 50/50 ratio on the epoxy. And definitely can’t tell through a little video.
Great video. I am a machinist, I have two 6 inch calipers, one for measuring and one for scribing. The scribing caliper is beat up and I don't trust it to measure parts anymore.
I use small rare-earth magnets to hold the pattern on the steel before tracing with a Sharpie. You might give it a try.

I did that same vinegar bath on an old axe head and it had very similar striation/scratches on the face of the axe head. Very nice knife

I like that you use bar stock metal to make this knife. This looks a lot easer than pounding on molten metal to for hours.
