    another superb tutorial by Eric Bowman! One remark: it's easier to hear what's happening with notes randomly being muted when the delay is turned off.

    I forgot to mention why you might use a different synth to make an arp. Swing! If you want to modify the time feel, another synth like Pigments or Omnisphere would be easier.
    In Vital, you could modulate the phase of the LFO's but that's a little tedious and it would be difficult to adjust the swing amount. I added 3 versions with different levels of swing to the Patreon page but they're not using pseudo-random trigger probability (occasionally muting every 3rd note). There's just a 15/16 chance of each note triggering.

      It's ok i don't want to swing. Victory royale for vital ps i love your tutorial, i finally started understanding sound design and making my own sounds. Ty so much. Your're like my sensei fr

      Yooouuuuu arrrreeee a GEEENIUUUSSSSS wooww , how in the world can you know so much!!!! So insightful & so well explained so in-depth & very complex sound designing tutorial I doubt even the makers of vital would have thought that this synth would be used like this.

    thanks Eric! In a month of watching your channel, I learned 10 times more about sound theory than watching others. Can you please show how to make a textural/ambient/ cinematic sound (something with distortion, buzzing), like in horror movies. If of course you find it necessary

    I've always love the sound of electric guitars played with the EBow and I'm trying to make a synth sound inspired on that. Any tips of how you would approach that?

    hi! two questions, at 16:55 i dont understand what the reason setting to saw down vs saw up works. this is probably due to a lack of understanding fully how the mod remap works on my part. and question 2, when you are setting the notes in the pitch at the start of the tutorial, does this make it so that the arp will always be in the key of the notes that you chose as long as the steps in LFO 1 are at least high enough to where you arent actually playing the note that you are pressing on the keyboard. hope that makes sense the way i asked it.
    edit- i understand the saw down vs up, im still not sure about the key tho.. also the difference between global snap and transpose snap... i been playing around with it today and im not positive what each does

    I tried this method using Pigments instead of the actual arp, try it along with functions, combi and random in conjunction.

    How do you get around the fact that vital filters can only have a slope of 12 dB and 24 dB per octave? (While Serum has a 6 dB, 12 dB, 18 dB and 24 dB per octave)
    Is this something that bothers you when designing sound?

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Vital's spectral filters let you have infinite control over shape. If you don't want a key-tracking filter, adjusting the "blend" of the filters opens them up. For example, if you wanted a 6db filter, you could use a 12db filter and adjust the blend slightly.
      Of all the sounds I've designed or recreated in Vital, I've never felt like I'm missing out on 6 or 18db filters. In fact, I think Vital's filters are more flexible and useful than Serum's. The only thing I really miss from Serum is the different distortion curves

    Can you do a tutorial on how to make the high pitch lead from "Nucular" by Zomboy? There is also another sound kind of like it on the song "Bounce" by Run DMC.

    My question is can you create a tutorial on how to create a smooth slow down motion effect that Hollywood sound designer use In all marvel movies

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I’m thinking of the right thing, you probably mean a really low sine wave bending down in pitch. Easiest way is raising the “bend” amount from 2 to 12 or more and using the pitch bend wheel. You could also use an LFO in envelope mode assigned to modulate coarse pitch.

    If I'm being honest, I don't really like using "arp-from-note", rather than "arp-from-chord"; when you have a chord you can arpeggiate from, you have less harmonic restrictions compared to transposition. For this reason, I prefer using external arpeggiators when arpeggiation from a chord not an option.
