@@storytimereadaloudwithfunn9888 well it's true I had an experience with this around this time while in boarding school!! Good news was it really was a monkey at night as big as a man

We called it "Muhnauchwa" (one who attacks the face). It was summer, unbearably hot at night, and frequent power cuts forced people to sleep on their roofs. Then, news of the Monkey Man attacks started spreading, with reports of someone being attacked every day. At the time, my father was going through financial difficulties after filing a case against a prominent government leader, and I believe he had been suspended. However, after hearing that his friend Mishra Ji had been attacked while sleeping on his roof, my father bought a heavy-duty inverter and cooler. He didn’t want us sleeping on the roof anymore out of fear. In all honesty, though, we never saw the creature ourselves.
About 5-7 years ago there was a rumour which spread too They said it was a woman who used to clip the women's pony tails and to prevent that we were told to put neem branches on our doors she was called chotikatwa but it was just a hilarious rumour 😂

I remember following the Monkey Man headlines on the old Forteana Yahoo Group in '01. Just from reading the headlines the threshold between 'possible cryptid' and 'mass hysteria/urban legend' was crossed VERY quickly. Within days it went from a possible large monkey to a monkey-faced man wearing a skin-tight silver bodysuit and a motorcycle helmet. At which point I gave up and stopped reading the updates.
I was like 5 years old when this started becoming a phenomenon, to the point that people were genuinely afraid to be outside, even 1000 kilometers away in Kolkata. There are tons of stories like this throughout India, such as the Stoneman murders that took place in Mumbai and Kolkata in the late 1980s, resulting in a total of 26 deaths and believed to be the workings of the same serial killer. The ghost stories are purely diabolical in nature, if you believe in the supernatural that is. The entities are rarely benevolent and are particularly vengeful.
Bruh, I was like 6 or 7. I always ran home back from the grounds as soon as the sun set. I still remember there were weird and absurd drawings released in the newspaper which scared the absolute crap out of my child self. The days of no internet were surely absolutely golden.

I can concur, I was awake for 8 days before and at first I was seeing my 'black cats' in my side vision (I didn't own a cat) and by the time I was in hospital I was talking to people that apparently were not there either!
I have experienced dreams leaking over into reality a lot, just in everyday life. I often have to ask my husband, "did so-and-so happen or was that from my dream". The worst was when I was in hospital and had been prevented from sleeping or eating for two days. I was outside in a wheelchair as my husband stood behind me, my head resting on his stomach, I was awake but dreaming and saw weird scary things. I can also recognise that I'm dreaming within a dream and tell myself to wake up. I can also direct a dream. I can fully remember it afterwards. I remember some dreams so well, it's like a real memory that lasts for years. I also get fully repeated dreams that I can recognise is happening while still asleep. Dream deja vu. Sleep paralysis a few times where I've seen my husband looking at me while he was actually miles away in work. One episode where I felt like I left my body and floated around the room to the mirror where I couldn't see my floating body but could see the reflection of myself asleep on the couch. I dream stuff sometimes that is so realistic that I'm not sure is which is real for a few minutes after waking. I have what used to be referred to as a photographic memory. I don’t know if I'm weird or not, only got my own experiences to go on. I think it's certainly possible for a dream to intrude on reality.

In the drawing of him near the end, his face looks quite human, even down to the hair on his head (which looks like a receding hairline) almost like he was a human that has been turned into what ever he was.
Wow absolutely brilliant👍 Being born and bought up in Delhi no one talks about this incident. It's been more than 20 years but very few channels has covered this topic.
I was a complete skeptic until I started getting interested in stories like this. Not necessarily THIS one but there are TONS of extremely credible sightings out there of things that can't be explained, and the government knows all about it.
Yoooo Mande burung mentioned!! It comes from a region called Garo Hills, inhabited by the A·chiks, one of the 3 major tribes in Meghalaya, a northeastern state. Mande Burung, roughly translated to English, means 'Forest Man'.
I was introduced to the Monkey Man via the MonsterQuest episode "The Curse of the Monkey Man" and later saw him depicted on "William Shatner's Weird or What?" This was a fantastic episode.
I was in in high school when this happened, even though we were in a different state from where this incident happened, the tales told were terrifying and panic inducing. But now, i think it was just a mass hysteria.
This sounds a lot like the descriptions of the Spring Heeled Jack. The helmet, the red eyes, and the scratches directed to the face. Interestingly a theory about the spring heeled jack's fire breathing ability was that a person was blowing white phosphorus which auto-ignites at 30°C. Intriguingly this temperature was easily exceeded in the hot temperatures of Delhi during these Monkey Man incidents. Perhaps this is why the Monkey Man didn't blow flames like the Spring Heeled Jack? That's just something I think is worthy of note. Personally I think these incidents are just a case of sleep paralysis episodes brought on by people suddenly being forced to sleep in an atypical environment from what they are used to. Then they hear the other incidents and so their subconscious minds will already be primed to expect some creature if suddenly awoken. It's one of the few cases where I tend to side with the mass hysteria explanation. Had people been encountering this creature independently and being unaware of the other accounts I'd push back more in the mass hysteria theory. Although typically mass hysteria actually has a set of physical symptoms that would also be present (headcold-like symptoms oddly enough).
Sorry guys, that was me. Had recently recently graduated with a degree in CS and, due to the tech bubble burst, I was having trouble finding work. So I signed up for some psychiatry experiments to help pay the bills in the mean time. Long story short, was administered a growing amount of psychedelics, and spending a lot of time in sensory deprivation, which caused me to physically, and psychologically, regress to a more primitive state. Then blah, blah, blah, and next thing I know I am waking up, naked, on the outskirts of Delhi.
"Its difficult to accept that the citizens of Dehli could react so violently without the presence of a real, physical threat." I don't know mate, they seemed to react pretty violently to Sikhs in 1984
Can't believe that you've made a video on this. I was a kid when this happened and the news spread like wildfire!! I remembered being so scared that I used to hug my dad to sleep even though I was in Mumbai LOL! Good days.
I remember Art Bell on coast to coast AM doing an almost nightly update on this story 😯! Also . . you didn't mention that it would also be seen wearing a helmet, with lights on it.
I've always been fascinated by this story. Deep urban Bigfoot sightings reports are very rare. What are the origins of this "Monkey Man of Delhi"? Does he live in the Sewer System? Was he a hitchhiker from a truck? A Shapeshifter? Interdimensional?
It was very scary time Especially when you start to hear people are getting attacked! I would go out to my roof when it got dark! People were not going out at night.
A little Spring Heeled Jack, a little Appalachian Devil Monkey, and a little Skinwalker. I remember the hype about this one, and wondered what happened. And you know the roller skates person was telling the truth; no one could say that to a cop and not be serious.
The shanty town outside of Nairobi had a leopard living there for months before it was discovered. It was feeding on the ample supply of dogs. Animal's can definitely live where we think that they cannot. My take on the monkey man, escaped chimp from a private collection. I don't know how true the rumour was of people getting exotic animals for pit fighting, either way I can imagine that what ever it was was a brutalized animal. Sad.
that seemed the most likely at first, but then if that was the case the people being attacked would have suffered much worse than just bruises and scratch marks.. a chimp is capable of doing immense harm to the human body, as a result of their sheer strength.. so why weren't these people getting more seriously injured? i don't get it the injuries seem more in line with a human attacker, albeit a mentally disturbed lunatic
It wasn't just Delhi, this menace was reported to have been spotted here in the suburbs of Mumbai as well. I was at school going kid at the time, all the mainstream news channels portrayed it all like it was very real. One night even we had no power and the rumour was that the beast likes to come out at 3 AM or after and I can clearly remember hearing blood curdling howls or a beast one night, the world felt like it was Godless and everyone around used to sleep terrified for real
The first guy who was attacked while on his balcony... Poor guy.... Must of been an extremely frightening encounter, just imagine how bad it would be ,.someone jumping on your back and beating you , and you cant see it , or throw it off.

Simon Andrews for the seriously creepy stories, Presley Benson, keeping the content coming for real, I actually use the play list to crash out to! Let's keep it going as long as we can Love this Channel! And thank you all!
Please consider making some videos on supernatural activites in Sunderbans. Those are somewhat unique. I may help to some extent, know one incident that happend.
Aleya bhoot or light ghosts killing fishermen? Those stories?
In the drawing of him near the end, his face looks quite human, even down to the hair on his head (which looks like a receding hairline) almost like he was a human that has been turned into what ever he was.
I nearly spat out my tea with the 'rollerskates' comment 😅
Oh heck yes! Ive been needing my fix of Bedtime Stories for the season and this looks like a good one
Great job...as always!!!
You're too kind, Bedtime Stories, to grace us once again with your presence.
Wow absolutely brilliant👍
Being born and bought up in Delhi no one talks about this incident. It's been more than 20 years but very few channels has covered this topic.
Have you heard of the monkey man before now and what do you think it is if at all thanks ❤
@@mariemarie2888 I can't commit on its existence. People who saw believed it. I was 7-8 yrs old when this happened.

Great stories, it's easier to just deny stories we hear, but there are things in this world that aren't well known, things that go bump in the night.
I was a complete skeptic until I started getting interested in stories like this. Not necessarily THIS one but there are TONS of extremely credible sightings out there of things that can't be explained, and the government knows all about it.
Sounds like Son Wukong discovered fent

Sounds like someone stole one of the flying monkey suits from the wizard of oz and was freaking ppl out 😂
I remember those days. Everyone was afraid of it.
Yoooo Mande burung mentioned!! It comes from a region called Garo Hills, inhabited by the A·chiks, one of the 3 major tribes in Meghalaya, a northeastern state. Mande Burung, roughly translated to English, means 'Forest Man'.
These stories no matter how small the encounters may be; Are very important to document and a huge contribution to understanding the phenomena.
It’s a great start to the day when I see Bedtime stories and Wartime stories
Although typically mass hysteria actually has a set of physical symptoms that would also be present (headcold-like symptoms oddly enough).
mass hysteria could be exacerbated or even fully caused by a virus, hence the cold-like symptoms...
Another brilliant episode
This is lame 😂. Easily debunked garbage.
Brilliant? Not so, friend…simply not so.
Then blah, blah, blah, and next thing I know I am waking up, naked, on the outskirts of Delhi.
fucking hilarious
Poor attempt.

😢 RIP Art Bell. I guess all we got is George Noory. Heard rumors of Heather Wade.
I've always been fascinated by this story. Deep urban Bigfoot sightings reports are very rare. What are the origins of this "Monkey Man of Delhi"? Does he live in the Sewer System? Was he a hitchhiker from a truck? A Shapeshifter? Interdimensional?
Half monkee half man full psycho
I was born in 2001 in Delhi. Never heard such story that time. Maybe mother and father has.
Awesome as always thanks ❤
It was very scary time Especially when you start to hear people are getting attacked! I would go out to my roof when it got dark! People were not going out at night.
It's amazing we have never heard about this sooner !!

The fact that it was seen wearing clothes and skating around tells me this is an escape circus animal. I seen one riding a bike once at the circus.

What a interesting coincidence, I am currently playing Black Myth Wukong.
The older I get, the more crazy all those stories sound.
A little Spring Heeled Jack, a little Appalachian Devil Monkey, and a little Skinwalker. I remember the hype about this one, and wondered what happened.

Scariest thing from this story is hearing the population of New Delhi went from 14 million to 33 million in 23 years. That is truly frightening.

Sad.
that seemed the most likely at first, but then if that was the case the people being attacked would have suffered much worse than just bruises and scratch marks.. a chimp is capable of doing immense harm to the human body, as a result of their sheer strength.. so why weren't these people getting more seriously injured? i don't get it
the injuries seem more in line with a human attacker, albeit a mentally disturbed lunatic
I saw a monkey person in Vallarta last weekend. Right next to Señor Frogs
The first guy who was attacked while on his balcony... Poor guy.... Must of been an extremely frightening encounter, just imagine how bad it would be ,.someone jumping on your back and beating you , and you cant see it , or throw it off.

@@sharlharmakhis280 That’s true but in reality monkeys can be mischievous little buggers as illustrated by the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in Journey to the West. So maybe the monkey man is a follower of Wukong’s? I mean in the story he does become a Buddha.
