I first heard this story years ago, through an interview with one of the four boys in the story, on Dogman Radio I think . Recently, I've heard it retold through several creators, some of them interviewing the experiencer. Every single time I've heard it, the story has been totally consistent. Some retellings might have more details or may be a more streamlined version, but the story and sequence of happenings has never changed. That says something in itself. I find that terrifying, almost more than the actual story. Thanks for another great narration!
A similar incident happened in my town of Maysville Kentucky back in the 80's. Some friends were exploring an abandoned hospital when one of these creatures chased them and almost got one of them. He had some cuts on his leg from the creature supposedly. I think there was a police report for the interested.
@@BabyColinRobinson "the abomination of desolation", these things are drawn to abandoned places just like they lurk in the winderness or any environment too inhospitable for man.
I listened to the interview multiple times, and each time I grew much more curious and scared , when I saw the notification of this episode this morning, my eyes grew wide and I had the biggest smile on my face , I literally said "Oooooh" 😂 this is my fav episode so far.

I've listened to Matt Emch himself tell this story on What Lurks Beneath, and he says the train blew it's horn only once, but Bedtime Stories says the train blew its horn twice! I'm surprised the creature ran away after only hearing one horn.

How many people remember the American Werewolf in London when the werewolf got down on all fours and was going through London like a terror causing double-decker buses to skit out?
To be fair, every werewolf story I have seen to do with the US, that is supposedly witnessed as an actual event has them as being OP. They can smell from miles away, their vision is excellent in the dark, their movement is silent until really close by. In some cases people don't even hear them. Their movement is super fast, in some instances our eyes struggle to properly register their full movements due to speed of their actions. They also have inhuman agility. The main differing thing I noticed with the stories is the werewolf is one thing, the dog man is another. The dog man is reported to have a canine head, but there have been some that state German shepherd head. And the biggest difference is the dog man admits a skunk or rotten flesh smell when nearby. Differs from story to story with range, suppose wind is a big factor naturally. Some can smell it and are attracted to it's presence before it spots them and comes into view. Others smell it within 100 yards, by then they are well within kill range. There's also another entity I've seen pop up from time to time, which is similar in build body wise, but it's head is more horrific and not at all canine or even big foot. It has multiple eyes too. And usually seen paired with a crawler. And in some instances a smaller werewolf which is strange to me. The crawler or smaller werewolf does the sniffing and scouting, while the larger creature is the enforcer so to speak. But, some instances have been rather bizarre. As people who have came face to face with it, have just been stared at by the creature and evaluated just by looking, before it moves on or fades away before them. Either slowly moving back into the darkness, or some suggest fade into another dimension. Either way, there seems to be more and more stories coming out of such creatures, and something they all share... they are not affected by bullets. I do wonder if it's like the old tales, silver being their weakness, if only a silver bullet/dagger/knife/sword and such are the only things to inflict mortal wounds.
I am familiar with this story, having watched the interview on What Lurks Beneath. I want to say that you did an excellent job of presenting it! Thank you.
Awesome video as always. A story I'd recommend to make an episode of is the New Orleans House of HORROR: The Lalaurie Mansion. A well documented haunted house in New Orleans with a sinister and dark history.
This city has numerous stories of supernatural and paranormal phenomena in every corner of its historic and rich past. The Sultan’s Palace is another interesting story, the vampire Carter brothers, the Ursuline convent and many other mysterious happenings that make this city the most unique and fascinating place on earth
I listened to the full interview on what lurks beneath. I am very skeptical about these stories, but watching him tell his story really makes you think. He seemed very genuine and is very detailed about his story. Maybe it makes it more unbelievable. Idk. But I feel it's really hard to fake being genuine.
Another great job by Bedtime Stories. I've heard the man's account on other channels. His first-hand description is something else! Your illustrated retelling gives something of the unearthly terror the four youths felt at seeing & hearing the creature.
The artwork & music are excellent. The narration is a breath of fresh air. No grammatical errors and that's hard to come by these days. Thank you all for your hard work Bedtime Stories!
I listened to this a couple of weeks ago on "What lurks beneath" and I knew that I heard it somewhere, I thought maybe you or "Wartime Stories" had done it. Thank you for doing it on your channel too. It was a great interview too!!
I heard of a similar creature that ravaged Ohio in the 70's and early 80's. Beast was 10 feet tall if he was a foot, with thick fur covering his head. Nothing could stop it. When it was seen, it had a white, black and gold shirt on, with the number 32 all over it. They said it responded to "Franco."
@@JohnDavies-cn3ro the Joke is this terrible beast is a Pittsburg Steelers fan. The jersey was based on a player of theirs named Franco Harris. That area of Ohio HATES the Steelers and their fans. I hope you know understand the joke.
I've felt for a long time that cryptids and the Missing 411 cases are connected. That there are points in the world where the barriers between worlds/dimensions are thin, where people and creatures can cross through.
I agree, I have hypothesized that’s why Bigfoot is never caught as well as the Dogman they jump through portals back to their world, hell many cultures talk about faeries and other strange creatures being in cross dimensions to ours, that pop out of nowhere and cause mischief and vanish
If you look at the missing 411 case map and compare it to a map of the continents cave systems, it's almost perfect. Meaning that, yes, they're probably a pretty significant number of them that are crypted victim cases, and they're using the caves to hide.
No way. I can't believe how VIRAL this guy has gone in the last 6 months. I watched his what lurks beneath interview and I swear to God I was absolutely 100% ENAMORED with his story and how fantastic he is at storytelling. I immediately subbed his channel. Believe me no one can tell it like this guy does. The details and story as a whole are freaking CREEEEEEEPY AF.
Fascinating. I honestly don't know what I would've done if I was in his place. Because I already did things that others find almost crazy... One example is that once I was in my parents farm, it was more than midnight and something started making whistle noises outside. So I grabbed a wooden stick and went outside. More than once, but there was nothing there. The other day I discovered it was owls. 😐
This channel appeared in my YT feed for some reason a while ago, and I've been enjoying your stories and content. Freaky, but you have a balanced and respectful approach, and the graphics are amazing.
Oh Paul Sinclair has been featured on Planet412 he has done a few Stories around East and North Yorkshire. He has spoken about Sightings at Flambrough where I once stayed but my friend family have a campsite there and then Reighton Sands where I mainly stayed for 4 years at.
Great story; I have reared Mastiffs most of my adult life. They are very big powerful dogs. Funnily enough 3 of the 6 I have reared have been fascinated by trains! We walk in the cornfields beside the railway lines. They hear the trains, cock their heads and run after them. Some Mastiffs are also prone to standing on their hind legs to survey the world around them. They are mostly gentle creatures, but very protective of their own domain. Not saying it was a Mastiff, off to listen to the original story. Thanks again
I saw it in 1996, I live here also, I actually live just down the street from where his attack happened and used to go to the same spot he talks about, I know it VERY well.
@@lordhentatsu2838 There is the Mahoning river that runs along those old steel mills, naturally a patch of woods and creeks all connected, back in the 80’s and early 90’s that whole area was baisically abandoned, there is a Massive area for it to move, it came running at me and my buddy Chris in PV(pleasant Valley) in his Mom’s driveway completely unprovoked, it covered a distance of a couple hundred yards in an instant, Chris got a better look at it than me because he got in the garage first and watched as it supposedly took a swing at me as I rounded the corner, his exact words were”NOT a bear, it had a demonic looking face unlike anything I ever saw.
Absolutely: the way Matt tells his story to 'What Lurks Beneath' is gripping. Very long interview but I listened to the entire episode and then re-played it.
I'm looking forward to hearing the story of Anjikuni. I think that's one I've read about before. And the fellow who related the account said that 'it prematurely ended the lives of two of his friends' -- how, exactly? Did they kill themselves?
Those friends became drug addicts to escape the memory of that night. They both died before their time. It's another trauma in source of grief he's had to deal with.
This episode seriously gave me the chills, one I haven’t felt since that bedroom scene in the charter house guest. I was sweating watching this just imagining this playing in my head. Well done bedtime stories, this episode was absolutely phenomenal.
I get you, depression and anxiety is absolutely crippling and exhausting. I'm glad you are feeling better! I fully agree about therapy. Take care and great story!
Being from Cleveland, I'm wondering if this steel mill was once part of the long-since demolished Youngstown Sheet and Tube? I've explored many of the abandoned factories in the YTown area, and am fascinated by the massive footprint that still exists from the old mills.
I’ve heard Matt’s story on a few other channels. His account is consistent and hasn’t changed from the first time I heard it. For me, there is no way he DIDN’T have this experience. I believe him to be telling the truth.
It takes a lot more than a consistent story to be truly credible - it requires strong, supporting evidence, too. There is none, ergo such cases are certainly interesting, but far from convincing. Always set the bar high for tangible evidence, not low.
Absolutely the best strangeness channel on TH-cam.. and by far the best voice to tell these stories... We love you brother! Keep your head up.. you are depended on here by us... And you are the best of the best of the best sir. Thank u!
13:10 The temporary disappearance of the front left paw of this creature may indicate that it is an inter-dimensional creature that is able to enter and exit different dimensions, maybe similar to Bigfoot? This could explain why no dead or alive Dogman or Bigfoot has ever been captured by humans.
@Michaelbruns449 Dogman and goatman are easily the two scariest cryptids! Goatman really freak me out though. I don't mind doing some amature ghost hunting in my freetime but if I was to ever run into a goatman, I don't think I'd ever sleep again after seeing something so frightening!
I had a lol when I heard you say “Insecure fencing” *Insecure Fencing:* “Does this wiring make me look fat? Be honest. ‘Cause now.. now, there’s a hole where kids get through and I, I, I feel like it makes me look…. UGLY. Am I ugly?! 😫” Fence then bursts into tears 😂
When at the end they mention that it happened in 1987, it reminded me of the song "The Legend" by Steve Cook that came out in 87, which popularized the myth of the Dogman and is closely intertwined nowadays with the story. So the first thing I thought, was that this whole story is a (sort of) fan project of the song and the legend of the Dogman as a whole. And the date was a nod. But who knows.
Very cool. BTS crew. Look into Holland, Michigan UFO incident of 1994. You won’t be disappointed. Would make a great video, given all the press and evidence (law enforcement, weather radar operators, hundreds of citizens)
Matt Emsch is a good dude and he has never strayed from details about this harrowing encounter.. one of the best and most terrifying of Dogman Encounters you'll ever hear. I can't imagine the utter terror these guys went through. It'd be a life-changing event for sure, if you were ever as lucky as they were, I mean, to survive this nightmare.
This is by far the best and most creepy story on your channel. You should do a video on The Cowman of Copalis Beach. It's one of the most compelling Bigfoot encounters ever told. Even better than the Ape Canyon incident.
I've heard the original story & have immense respect for the priest that believed those boys. I also am puzzled at how you can receive proper "counseling" from a professional that probably doesn't even believe your trauma & shirks it off on other possible things because of their own bias. Someone has to attempt to believe you before they can help you.
Well as an engineer working in an ohio steel mill this is somewhat concerning to hear. Of course my department (the oldest in the mill that's still operating) has a story or two about a ghost or two I'm not aware of any active hauntings around the mill or in my department. The only noteworthy story is of a figure disappearing through a wall in the old locker rooms that are now mostly used as storm shelters when the occasional tornado threat presents itself.
The idea is more like this dogman found a secluded spot in the shutdown mill, an operating industrial site is usually too loud and chaotic for things looking to hide
Midnight when I watch this....the wind is howling and something is scraping against the window. I just know this is the part where I end up in a future Bedtime stories episode.
Speaking of still mills, idea for a future topic you guys should cover the haunting of Sloss furnace Also probably not a good idea to work with better help since they are currently facing multiple lawsuits for violating doctor patients confidentiality among other things

This city has numerous stories of supernatural and paranormal phenomena in every corner of its historic and rich past. The Sultan’s Palace is another interesting story, the vampire Carter brothers, the Ursuline convent and many other mysterious happenings that make this city the most unique and fascinating place on earth
That wolf is rockin a hog for sure. I felt the wind from that piss.😂
Very good and scary story! Loved the nod to revelations at the end. That’s a story book worth reading. ❤❤❤
I listened to the full interview on what lurks beneath. I am very skeptical about these stories, but watching him tell his story really makes you think. He seemed very genuine and is very detailed about his story. Maybe it makes it more unbelievable. Idk. But I feel it's really hard to fake being genuine.
Had to watch this again. Good stuff.
Another great job by Bedtime Stories. I've heard the man's account on other channels. His first-hand description is something else! Your illustrated retelling gives something of the unearthly terror the four youths felt at seeing & hearing the creature.
Bedtime stories just in time for bed! Thank You guys! 🤘🏻😺😘💜✨
😂😂😂😂
Sorry, but the joke's lost on this Limey @@warmbeergamingdude
Good one!! 👍👍
Bet he was an Immaculate looking beast too
@@JohnDavies-cn3ro the Joke is this terrible beast is a Pittsburg Steelers fan. The jersey was based on a player of theirs named Franco Harris.
That area of Ohio HATES the Steelers and their fans. I hope you know understand the joke.
This gave me chills, Bedtime Stories NEVER fails to disappoint 🖤
This channel is in my top favorites. I'd listen to this all day.
Fantastic episode. I think that one is the scariest and we have seen every episode, most, several times.
Love the wolf artwork and this story as well.
@@dontmindme9323 Exactly.
You’re 100% correct. In the Bible this is known as the veil… however people who practice magic can also summon or turn into monsters etc
If you look at the missing 411 case map and compare it to a map of the continents cave systems, it's almost perfect. Meaning that, yes, they're probably a pretty significant number of them that are crypted victim cases, and they're using the caves to hide.
That's what missing 411 leads you to think so congrats on catching this completely impossible to miss connection
Its not crazy to bring a stick to fend off wild animals it's just retarded unless that stick is part of a shotgun
This channel appeared in my YT feed for some reason a while ago, and I've been enjoying your stories and content. Freaky, but you have a balanced and respectful approach, and the graphics are amazing.
Well, if The Simpsons is anything to go by: “we work hard, we play hard”
"Hot stuff coming through"
Everybody dance now!!
Dad why did you take me to a gay steel mill
Why did the werewolf haunt a gay steelmill?!
@@MorbidlyMortuusI DONT KNOW!!!
I love the stories and illustrations on this channel. I just wish there were more of them.
😮
Can you tell us more about?
*I **_knew_** I'd heard that story before! I love Josh at What Lurks Beneath! And John BAllen sent me to you, as I love him, too.*
I get you, depression and anxiety is absolutely crippling and exhausting. I'm glad you are feeling better! I fully agree about therapy. Take care and great story!
There are photos of this old steel mill and you can identify the building and train track where it happened. The mill was finely torn down in 2013
Artwork was spot on to hearing it in 1st person on What lurks beneath...Great imagination
Being from Cleveland, I'm wondering if this steel mill was once part of the long-since demolished Youngstown Sheet and Tube? I've explored many of the abandoned factories in the YTown area, and am fascinated by the massive footprint that still exists from the old mills.
Youngstown native here! It sounds like the old YS&T Brier Hill Works blast furnace.
It could have been the Campbell Works.
I’m absolutely addicted to this channel, all I listen to when I’m doing my second job cleaning houses.❤❤❤❤
This was a really good one. I also grew up close enough to Youngstown to walk. Abandoned steel mills were up and down every street in town.
Wow! That was bloody scary. I’m not really a big fan of cryptid stories, but this one was really, really terrifying.
Since finding out about dogmen and goatmen ive never been so fascinated and frightened by anything else before.
Check out :"Lainey and Ben"....cryptids you've never heard of. Sounds interesting... I'm heading there now!! K.G.
Excellent Choice, I heard this story on dogman radio, the guys interview and story was very convincing. Very detailed account.
Truth proof interviewed this guy . It was awesome interview .I’ve heard it on other channels too.
Outstanding artwork, as usual. Bravo, Mihăiță băiete!
I highly recommend The Sasquatch Chronicles episodes on this topic.
Multumesc😸
Thanks for the content. really interesting. Can't believe this happened relatively close from here in Michigan.
I had a lol when I heard you say “Insecure fencing”
*Insecure Fencing:* “Does this wiring make me look fat? Be honest. ‘Cause now.. now, there’s a hole where kids get through and I, I, I feel like it makes me look…. UGLY. Am I ugly?! 😫”
Fence then bursts into tears 😂
I literally live here and have seen the mill with my own eyes holy crap. Never even knew of this story
I remember this interview. This channel is amazing! You guys do really good work here.
I overheard a guy in rehab talking about this, thanks for sharing!
Very cool. BTS crew. Look into Holland, Michigan UFO incident of 1994. You won’t be disappointed. Would make a great video, given all the press and evidence (law enforcement, weather radar operators, hundreds of citizens)
Great story. Glad you told this one.
They were milling steel.
Guys beware promoting better help. They re not therapists. Great episod
what do you mean?
How do you know this?
@@stardusttribe many youtubeurs like Pewdiepie exposed them as a scam. They re people pretending to be therapists but they re not. That s dangerous
This is by far the best and most creepy story on your channel. You should do a video on The Cowman of Copalis Beach. It's one of the most compelling Bigfoot encounters ever told. Even better than the Ape Canyon incident.
Mr. Ballen & BTS AND scared interesting in 1 day?! Hellz yes!!!
That first drawing of the werewolf goes crazy!
I've heard the original story & have immense respect for the priest that believed those boys. I also am puzzled at how you can receive proper "counseling" from a professional that probably doesn't even believe your trauma & shirks it off on other possible things because of their own bias. Someone has to attempt to believe you before they can help you.
I felt the same way. The priest, at least, made him feel seen and heard and validated that there are strange and scary things in this world.
Man, the animation on this is just so damn good
I've heard this story a time or two.
Hearing my own home town named in a Bedtime Stories video was like a mental flashbang
Tough as nails steel workers afraid of ghouls and goblins?
This is such a great channel, thank you all for your hard work, amazing content and so well put together.
Yes finally its here thank you 🙏
Midnight when I watch this....the wind is howling and something is scraping against the window.
I just know this is the part where I end up in a future Bedtime stories episode.
BADASS!
New bedtime stories.
And with a dogman account, too...💯👍
Speaking of still mills, idea for a future topic you guys should cover the haunting of Sloss furnace
Also probably not a good idea to work with better help since they are currently facing multiple lawsuits for violating doctor patients confidentiality among other things
This story is crazy. I heard the guy tell this story. Honestly, if this is remotely true, God help us.
