I realize this is two years late, but... I'm just seeing it now. And someone else may be curious later on as well, so... I think pairing this with a Blackstar Fly 3 mini amp would make for a great little portable backpack sized setup. It'll sound good and is also easy to pack up and move as needed. Or, as was mentioned in the video, using a little amplug headphone amp. I like the Fly 3 a little better, though, as it has a speaker for times that he could play out loud, like to show off what he's learned or instruction, if he takes it with him to his lessons, but it still has a headphone jack as well for quiet practice in his bedroom. (There are some smaller practice amps out there as well, which are also less expensive, like the Fender Mini Twin, Mini Deluxe, Marshall MS2, Danelectro Honeytone, but I haven't actually listened to those in person before. Those seem more like a novelty to me, just being a cute tiny version of their usual amps, while the Fly 3 actually sounds decent. I've heard some other cheap tiny travel amps, though, and they were pretty rough. They tend to have pretty low headroom, so a clean tone that you can actually hear and use for practice is almost impossible. The Fly 3, while it doesn't sound big, because it's not, it does sound decent. It's well designed. It has good headroom to play clean at a good volume. All that being said... I was able to get the Blackstar Core ID10 v3 on sale a while back for only about $10USD more than the new Fly 3 price. It's also a great amp, in my opinion. Its bells and whistles are overkill for a little kid who's learning, but it's not much more money, it feels more serious, and it's something they could grow into, if they continue playing. Not nearly as portable, but also still not terrible.
Thank you for demonstrating the guitar. For me, the small guitar is ideal ... because I have had multiple operations on the gripping hand (Snapping Fingers) and can only play short-scale guitars. Since I've already tried several short-scale guitars ... it always failed because of the stability of the strings.. that should be better with the VOX? I will order the guitar one day and hope that I will find the one I was looking for?
It's a mini humbucker, and it coil-splits, and there's a tone control. Definitely versatile enough for a travel guitar. I don't think most folks are going to be gigging with it.
A Fluence pickup of some sort, locking tuners, saddle upgrade, bone nut, big polish of the frets, change pickguard, and add a racing stripe? Or whatever you want. :-)
