    Hey casual, subscribed to you when you made your first open box for the T598, I bought the T598 when it first came out as well and definitely agree to your opinions then, but now I think after the firmware update….its amazing! Came from g29, t598 was still better, like going from N64 controller to PS5 haptic feedback technology, light years away. I hope they keep adding weight to the wheel and to have the T-DFB effents through harmony would be nice. I do still suspect the heat is limiting factor here. They also could just make the base longer and add second DD rotor to the axle.. would be 10nm T898..😊

  • @tonilaitinen5197
    @tonilaitinen5197 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Good comparison. Having driven with T-GT since 2018 I know exactly what you are talking about. For reference - what settings do you use with T-GT2? Just that I know to what strenght you are comparing the t598 to. I use FFB strenght ar 6-7 in race cars. Anything more just strains my hands and wrists unnecessarily over time. Also a statement to the power of T-GT - the force there is no joke. And i kind of feel the belt drive actually makes the ffb feel more "real". We are after all talking about forces that RUBBER tires have, so belt makes them just natural.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've actually been lowering my T-GT II from around a 6-7 to a 4-5. Once you get to 7, I feel like you are starting to fight the wheel turning. The T-GT II just offers a different resistance feeling than the T598 that just feels stronger when you have grip and had an extreme opposite feeling when you lose it. It's more extreme than the T-GT II, but after the update, the T598 is well improved in its feeling.

    • @tonilaitinen5197

    I have just started to watch your latest video on how the evo r wheel erased the t598 feeling of the wheel and just when you started to explain it said the video is not available. Why did you take it down or have you figured out the problem with different wheels on the t598? I have just bought the ferrari 488 gt3 wheel and I must say it is by far the best wheel on my t-gt ii and I have like 15 different wheels, including custom mods to fit fanatec and momo wheels. Anyone who watches you regularly should know better than to question your honesty, there are to many people that assume DD has to be better than a belt driven wheel, which yes in entry level wheels should be the case. But the tgtii is not entry level it has a lot of other tech built in that people forget about especially the t-linear feedback. Also a real car steering is not a simple shaft to motor so isn't necessarily as good as replicating a real life scenario where we have rubber mouted ball joints, rubber tyres, suspension that all transmits through the wheel. There is an argument that a belt is more likely to replicate some of those frictions and responses more accurately. What DD should give you in theory though is more consistency through both replicating the exact same feeling every time through both less parts to source and less susceptible to heat build up causing changes. Although the tgtii is less susceptible than lower end belt driven wheels. So I'd argue having tried a fanatec DD pro, id likely be more consistent but its less immersive than a tgtii.. And as you are a Casual Racer in VR, you probably already have one of the most immersive combinations with the tgtii and its transducer.

      I don't think I have heard many people who actually used a T-GT II say anything bad about it. I don't know how you can. The wheel performs extremely well. Even if someone bought a higher end DD wheel, they still usually say how good the T-GT II was.

      With the way the T598 feels after the update, I think people will really like it, and it's a great buy for the price. I think most casual racers will be completely satisfied.
      If you were looking to spend more money and had nothing, I might look at the Fanatec 8nm DD, which will be priced close to the T-GT II. If Thrustmaster offered an upgrade kit for the T598 to make it 8nm for, let's say, another 100-150 dollars, it would have made this wheel an absolute buy for anyone.

    TGT II will always be the king of Belt driven system. Looking at all your reviews so far you definitely don't sound 100% happy with the T598, I think this base is just an Overhyped by TM. They should offer that T598 by only the base as well. I hear it's happening next year but coming from TM crazy prices might be a standalone base for $300 bucks but probably it's going to be more. I also have a feeling they going to came out with another stronger base following the same DAD concept probably when they offer the load cell new pedal. I'm going to stick to my TGT II until this wheel gets fully supported on console. I don't play GT7 or GT sport, I'm looking to use the T598 with other titles like AC, F1, PROJECT CARS and more. I'm so curious to know how the wheel is performing with other games rather than only playing GT7. Not many youtubers reviewing other games 😞 eventually with time I guess.
    great review like always man! don't pay attention much of people has to say, express whatever you feel like to, in the end is your channel and people will still look at your reviews. Funny that TM is paying attention so much cuz they know that base is not ready and you're hitting them hard 😂

      Depends what you call competitive, im often in top 50>150 in VR if i actually get a couple of evenings to do dailies always follow the ghost with the top time that often has thrustmaster tgtii logo's on. And until gt7 sold out to fanatec, which is likely to fall short due to fanatec bad press and poor customer service, the tgtii was the GTWS tour wheel they all used. So just asuming as its belt driven and not DD makes it non competitive is not true. Those top times are often grinded for hours and day's whatever the wheel.

      Not sure what you mean. Pretty sure the T598 would be on par with the 5nm Fanatec or even better delivering 5nm of constant torque with overshoot capabilities. Of course, it won't deliver the power of the 8nm. I also think the T-GT II would be stronger than the Fanatec 5 Nm DD.

      No, it makes me look truthful. I honestly don't have a solid grasp on the T598. One day, I think it feels good, and then the next day, I'm like, what is going on with this thing. I am kinda torn on the wheel. I will tell you what I'm not torn on. The T-GT II has been solid from day one, and I never questioned the positive experience I have had with it.

    Imo tgt ii will always win between these. To many corners cut. To much of a budget motor in the t598 and then over hyped and over apld by them with there sales pitch. But man oh man is it a cheaply made system and the motor. I get it frictionless but dude you need some for the loading and unloading feel to grab you and go hey don't do this or that. • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thecasualracinggamer well the inirtia is supposed to fight the wheel going back. What's its supposed to do is help something in motion stay in motion in the seme direction so when its pulling you back it should fight it more. That will help the loading and unloading feeling even if thrustmasted explained inirtia backwards lol. They go inirtia makes wheel harder to turn in haha. I'm like that's not inirtia. Inirtia is the use of something like a heavier wheel so when you go in one direction it feels like it wants to keep moving in that direction and is meant to not change direction or fight the change of direction. Which could yes give the effect that the wheel fights you more. But they explained it way wrong.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thecasualracinggamer well need to get you some more dd wheelbases in hand so you can see why I say it feels cheap. It even feels 2x cheaper then the csl dd pro does imo. Which has very little plastic mostly metal. Also usually brands when using plastic its a carbon and glass mix not just the generic cheap plastic thrustmatser uses. You can fele it to the touch. Most plastics used by brands in this field are higher end feeling a nice softness like cf feels jnstwad of hard to the touch. The plastic overall is hard but there is a texture to good vs bad plastic. Lol

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @reviewforthetube6485 So the base itself is not plastic, and it's quite heavy. If you are talking about the rim, yeah, the plastic they used on it is complete garbage.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The face of the base is plastic. Also open it up and look at the internals it looks ok but the hardware used is very very inexpensive which is why they made this for budget buyers. Then they oversold it as if its this new tech that's gonna be so much better then other dd wheels and thats just so false. This was marketing and it was made for budget sim racing and its 100% at that lower level. It does not have a premium feel in any way. All dd have some weight so don't let the weight confuse you in quality. I just do not like it. I've used alot of dd wheelbases and this is not a good dd wheelbase. Yes its got very little friction to the point where it will move when not even on track but it's almost to a fault. It's much harder to feel those dense deep transitions where the wheelbase almost feels like it gets into a groove and yanks you or feels extremely dense when turning in you feel that skip angle and the grip and you feel it grabbing then letting go grabbing then letting go then snaps back so fast. This wheelbase feels lacking compared to others thats all. I even like there t818 way more. One day I so hope they send you the t818 you will understand what I'm saying then. That wheelbase may still be a bit cheaper made then other dd wheelbases but omg its ffb is absolutely incredible. Please ask them to send you the t818 it will blow your mind and you will notice the things its lacking compared to how a dd should feel. I hope these motors do not become a trend because dd wheelbases are smooth enough they don't need to be completely frictionless. Tbh most want a little bit. But yeah its just inherent flaws with this motor imo. @@thecasualracinggamer

      LOL. People are competitive on G29s. Even controllers. It had nothing to do with being competitive. Fanatec doesn't offer anything close to what the T598 can deliver in that price range. Their 5nm DD wheel kit is a couple hundred dollars more then the T598.
