This felt like a really good one. It was genuinely thrilling in a way that a lot of recent 1v1 battles haven't been, but that might entirely be down to the lack of any Crisis Mode. There wasn't any "You're doing too well, let's erase all your progress and bring you down to just above the CM threshold and not give it to you and let Blue win" BS. When I saw Red's hp at 4, I legitimately thought it was over until I saw the leaves, at which point I felt a glimmer of hope. And that's how it _should_ be. The one losing shouldn't be handed the win because they scraped their knee, they should have to actually fight to get back on their feet.
I don't know, crisis mode can help give a sense of agency to the teams.
There are legitimate cases for crisis mode, but it's mostly in games where otherwise it's "lol you got a tiny advantage at the start and now you win because this game snowballs too hard". It's also a lot better when it's more about changing action priority (e.g. crisis mode player goes on the defensive) than actually powering up one side or the other.
@@Interesting_Failure The ones where I can't stand are where it essentially goes "lol, you just went .5 cm ahead of your opponent. No marbles for you!"
And it seems like most of the Crisis Modes (that I remember) essentially hand the win to the losing side if the other side doesn't have a massive lead.
its happened both ways, and most of the time an OP crisis mode on one side can trigger another crisis mode the another side, so its actually pretty well balanced IMO since without that the vids would take 4 minutes instead of 15 because i think its extremely difficult to make a minigame like this where its not like "lmao this side got 1 OP bullet now he wins and its only 16 seconds in"
@@Interesting_Failure Yeah, the problem is when Crisis Mode is too heavyhanded, then basically whichever team gets the first endgame crisis mode wins.
Honestly, this is the most balanced tree battle yet. Would love to see more of this. (Maybe make Both teams planets to fit with the theme of trees?)
We could have a battle royal of this if the activation mechanism (?) had spacing all around it

4 hp and 9 hp... I'm surprised at how both teams recovered from that somehow...
I think MIKAN will run multiple iterations (probably as many as 50) and choose the most interesting of them to post. I've noticed that the color/team that goes down to a low hp earlier/first will almost always end up the winner, and I think those videos are chosen on purpose. I love it, honestly! One of my favorite channels. And they just keep getting better!

Mikan loves making an underdog and then making them win
There‘s multiple reasons why they could possibly do that and multiple ways they do it
Here it’s 1v1, the winner gets low first. Directly after Regeneration gets introduced.
Sometimes it’s also 1v1v1v1, then the least looked at wins. Often that’s yellow as most people will either choose green for being the color of nature, red for being the color of power (also love but not in this context), blue because everyone who doesn’t have a favorite color says blue.
Yellow is incredibly overlooked.
The reasons are… interesting tho.
Reason 1:
Greediness
It could be that mikan just wants interesting outcomes and so makes comebacks
Reason 2:
Punisher
Some people don’t place bets until someone gets low, so they punishe those who didn’t choose at the beginning
Reason 3:
Motivational Message
Mikan maybe just wants to show that even with the least hope you might just win by getting lucky.
Reason 4:
The power of adrenaline
Mikan sometimes also includes the power of „being behind“, where the underdog gets a boost.
Same is during fights in real life, if you and your opponent are close in strength, but you injure him faster, he will get adrenals faster and be in killing mode first, giving you the worst chances of winning the fight.

Perhaps you can add hit points to branches too, as missiles can easily penetrate through by bouncing quite a few times with the help of bomb and spear fruits.
Always love the tree/coral battles (or all modes which relies on growth). Aesthetically pleasing and always titillating to wat h since the winner is seldom predictable - only apparent when one side manage to grow a jungle.
This is one of the more balanced battles - not having anything against crisis mode but sometimes it's very overpowering and imbalanced and frustrating to watch.

Lol I was rooting for Blue and as soon as I saw Red at 4 hp and the video was only halfway through I knew Blue was screwed.

This was really creative, the visual responses to the tactile stimulation throughout made it really satisfying, especially seeing a huge "fruit salvo" get sent off

At the end Blue was prioritizing some spots inorder to make sure they were good, but after the destruction by Red they never could recover to what Red did. Red would demolish Blue after Blue fails the attempt at offense. Red would have spammed Spears and also have made every spot have atleast something there. This would make Red impossible to destroy as the weak Blue got completely missile'd into an oblivion.
Also waiting for a battle tree mode in which the sides can launch whole tree (regardless of the size) to the opponent lol.
And since sometimes the trees grow so long it makes contact with the opponent's trees, contact damage may be entertaining.
Whatever is possible through Unity ofc.
This is the most unique and perhaps most balanced tree battle style i've seen
Do you do a few runs to see if any "drama" happens or are these always first run? Also, if you do multiple, it would be interesting to see some stats like quickest vs. longest win, etc.
Mikans' said before, they run it through until they get a match that's interesting enough.
He also uses thumbnails from runs he didn't use so they can't be used as spoilers.

Idea: Growing Tree Race
Same rules as tree battle 1, but instead of destroying your opponent, the win condition is to get to the other side of the map.

Honestly this was disapointing.
Guys please don't hate me. It's my opinion and if you reply something bad to me, it's invading personal space. The game is very unbalanced (not because Red won, I like both Red and Blue as colors.), and, well, here's the rest.
Here's what I don't like:
Missiles were nigh overpowered, which is why both players went to critical HP and how it ended the game.
The spear had the worst here. Even though it pierced through many things and had an 100% chance of hitting the core, they were very inaccurate and didn't do anything at all. The bombs also sucked, they also were inaccurate and dealt low damage.
Even though leaves healed alot, they heal a meager amount. However, Missiles treat this as if it were nothing. Bombs and Spears are like humans facing a concrete wall with only a small iron bar as their weapon.
The modes also were way too long, players won't have enough time to get good defense to counter their opponent and because of very limited supply of weapons, the players won't attack, leaving them vulnerable.
Leaf could be in Stem mode or Attack mode as they could be great additions to it. They should be buffed to counter this, leaves having more HP than they should.
Branch angle had almost no use at all, many of the angles were almost the same. Same with Branch Rate. This increases durability of branches, but it is completely useless when there are a lot of balls as they reset whenever a ball branches.
Branch type is overpowered. Having the split modes means that overpowered missiles can clone all they want, making the opponent vulnerable.
I want a better and balanced mode battle unlike this one.
I agree with this. The missiles dude... how the heck are you supposed to get a defense to counter them?

RED COMEBACK. Wow that was a good battle
BOMB: Release a bomb that will cause an explosion. Size depends on how big the fruit is.
ROCKET: Release a bouncing rocket that will do multiple hits before dissappearing. Amount of bounces and Power will be increased with size.
SPEAR: Send a sharp spear at your opponent which will pierce through branches and die at your opponents core. flight length while piercing is increased with a bigger fruit.
