Plenty of enthusiasm, that’s great. We pick our Altitude up on Monday and are pretty happy with our choice for moderate off roading, touring and towing. Congratulations on the new wheels. We have the 150 series [VX model] which tows a 2.7t touring van. 3 years old now. Only 67,000k, but a trouble free and faultless performance so far. Great car. Not perfect, but we love the comfort and reliability. Tows beautifully with the only mod being a set of quality airbags for the rear springs. The rear row of seats stays down. Never used thus far. You are uninsured by insurance companies if you exceed 1) gross towing capacity. 2) total CVM. Previously a Prado had a towing capacity of 2.5 ton..that will not be insured if you tow a caravan with a GVM of 3 ton..eg a 20ft Jayco…
Looking forward to seeing how you modify your Prado. I have a 150 series Prado, and do yourselves a favour and get rated recovery points added to the front of your car to allow you to get towed out if bogged in sand or mud.

Hi guys, yes I am getting around 16 litres per 100ks on the current model towing a 7 metre semi off-road van. By putting the spare underneath you drop from 150 litres to around 120. Great idea moving the spare to the rear on a swing away bar. One thing I don’t like is the need for ad blue which is not required on the current model.

Have you considered a smaller van? Or a lighter van? Lots of options out there that will save you fuel, give you some more load capacity and a hell of a lot less stress on the car
Funny everyone talking about removing seats voiding warranty. By the time this thing is built for touring, anyone with half a brain knows their warranty is basically out the window. Congrats on the new wheels! Look forward to the transformation yeeww
Yeap everyone is forgetting that in some states the vehicle will no longer be compliant and will need a new compliance plate as it’s now a 5 seater and not a 7 seater.
I can’t see why it would, my dealer doesn’t think so, Toyota would have to prove that the false floor caused some sort of problem to void a specific parts warranty
@lilandjake yeah I was thinking the same. Hopefully it it doesn't. I'm sure you and your wife will do your homework. Your car looks beautiful. Have a lovely safe time touring Australia. Maybe I'll see your car on the road coming through the sunshine coast. 👍
Great looking rig guys. I think the 'Overland Traveller' guys just got one too. You didn't mention that the car is always in 4H as there is no 4x2 mode. The HDMI is for connecting laptops etc to the infotainment system (Bougie haha). Glad it doesn't come with a sunroof as they get sooo bloody hot. Are you getting bush wraps ? I have a drawer fridge in my canopy and I love the bloody thing.
Thanks legend! Yea sorry there is so many things we left out, we didn’t even get into the start with your phone or anything! The video would have been 2 hrs long! Yea wow we will try it out! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Good luck with project. Will be interesting to see if a fridge slide, drawers etc can be fitted on too of that box of electric tricks in the back. And 110l of fuel? Almost The thing I like most about switching from a Ute to a 150 series Prado was never having to worry about a Jerry can again on any remote(ish) trip bar the canning stock route.
I watched another TH-camr that said, if you remove the 3rd-row seats, it will void your Toyota new car warranty. Is that true? Looking at the kerb weight vs GVM and it's payload is terrible. Not suitable for a touring rig setup w/o a GVM upgrade. And are you sure of the 90L tank? Looking at Toyota AUS website for the 250 specs, and it lists it as 110L. Or is that typo on their end (still quoting the 150 Prado fuel tank specs)?
Superb video, can you confirm, False Floors are able to (a) put in a false floor substantial enough to protect the battery compartment providing similar space to that of the Altitude edition, and (b) remove the 3rd row seats altogether, on a LC 250 Prado Kakadu? assuming the order ever arrives of course.
Thanks for doing a run through (and fast forwarding the instruction manual reading 😂) it was interesting to see the car and hear about the features it does and doesnt have. Looking forward to seeing how you set it up 👍
Constantly check your airbox for dusting, the Hilux & Prado's are notorious for it.. i run a 2 stage foam unifilter in my hilux & not a spec of dust gets in
I bought the new 7 seat GXL model & it's FLY!!! It has that new & modern squared off look & at the same time is very aesthetic. It has a good sized infotainment system and the audio system is fantastic. It has enough modern tech to satisfy the majority of people. IMO, the price point is fantastic (86k) & I jumped on it immediately because of the price & whatbyou are getting. Toyota Prado is an iconic car brand in Australia & this new version is up with the times, and it still delivers on it's famous off road capabilities. This Prado is COOL. I am over the moon with my purchase. I will say I'm not keen on the new Kakado version, because it looks like the old Prado. But that's just my opinion.
What about the little sticker in the back that says max load 60KG and you are NOT going to pull the seats out or you will be illegal and void your warranty because the seats are there to protect your battery and at this stage there is no way to comply with ADR if you do remove the seats. Also there is no gvm upgrade available. Glad you love your car but a service every 6 months and the lower pay load etc from the last model certainly is a big trade off. In the end how much difference in price will there be between a base 300 and your car without major upgrades?
You will need more payload capacity, you will be over gvm with a bullbar, winch, extra fuel, tyre carrier and draw system without any other stuff. You will be better off for weight and space if you remove all the rear 5 seats. You cannot use then with your false floor so just pull them out. They are dead weight. Get it re engineered if you have to. This will lower your centre of gravity and give you maybe 80kg more payload.
Lota negs out there. I've looked at it and the specs, I recon it's an awesome vehicle. Any shortcomings are easily fixed by aftermarket bolt on fruit just like every other 4wheeler out there. You're gonna love it and appreciatiate what it will do for you. Enjoy!
I don't understand exorbitant price. Their ranger had about 200k and was getting flogged out. This prado, with proper maintenance, will still be going in 10 years or more with over 600k on the clock. That makes it excelllent value.
Congrats Lil and Jake… it’s not perfect by any stretch but I would still seriously look at one when it comes time to part with my 2014 Pajero… happy days ❤
I really love that you want to do just a basic set up to show what you can do with a standardish car while you save up for all the mods. Those of us that dont travel tube for a living cant always afford (or justify) spending large chunks of money on mods and its always refreshing to see people do it without all that. You guys starting out with a ranger and hybrid van was always so relateable and stood you out.
I am on my 3rd Prado, had a 2004 for 10 years, a 2014 for 7 years, and now a 2021 since then, I was excited about this new Prado but honestly when I saw you lift the bonnet with no hydraulics, looks like manual lift and the the back of it I am pretty sure I will stay with what I have, the 2021 GXL has all the same functions you just mentioned, same towing capacity, 120 ltr fuel tank ...... so I'm happy, Toyota just lost a sale with this review .....
An Everest Platinum absolutely smokes this! Only if you hold Prados for +10 years will you ever see the value in them... I only ever hold new cars in their 5-10 year warranty period, so "reliability" is never an issue anyway. Avoid and just get the 300!!
Same here cancelled VX soon as I saw boot size same as Yaris. I really can’t see any logical explanation for this ridiculous boot. We should boycott this car and make Toyota engineers back to board and resolve this problem. Otherwise they will continue selling s..t cars based on previous reputation for top dollar. Very sad.
Toyota made this car that way for a reason. I am sure they are not fools. Get a Highlander or LC300. I believe everyone has their needs. This Prado meets my needs. I don’t need that big boot.

Congrats on the new Prado purchase , I hope it provides everything you need coming up for future trips. I considered the Prado as my next purchase from my 2021 Fortuner but same engine 150kw/500nm, . . . so have ordered the new Everest Tremor V6 for my van towing, that 600nm is the no brainer for me and similar bucks. As this is a mild hybrid, does it have a ready mode allowing you to use aircon off the battery like you can with all other Toyota hybrids? Toyota can’t seem to answer but an owner can test this. Basically, can you stick it in ready mode and have the aircon run with engine off, then engine turns on and off to top up battery. It’s a game changer for car camping. Largest current confirmed vehicle to do this is the Kluger (highlander) but it would be awesome in the Prado.
Great walk around, I’m currently waiting on my gxl also. One point, Toyota spec sheet for the 250 is saying fuel capacity is 110litre, so may not be as bad as you first thought
Why did you pick Prado over something like Everest Sport which has more power and specs (has rear locker, brake controller, reverse guidance system, V6, more boot space and seating versatility with 2nd and 3rd row spacing) and less cost at around $85k?
Congrats guys. Well done. Lil: don't put doggo in back with grassy feet; Also Lil: about to take rig off road amongst the diesel and dust! Lol. Cheers, dd

Wow looks great. Does the handbook happen to list the Prado’s Gross Axle Weight Limits as I can’t find them anywhere. I would love to buy one but with two kids and a 3000kg van I would have no payload left for anything, not even a bar. 😔
Nice. A ship must have come into Freo port recently. The new Prados (and other Landcruiser types) were all trundling along Leach Hwy yesterday to the holding yard. They look good in the metal.
15L/100 I'd say more like 19L/100km same motor as mine and dont imagine the 48 volt system doing much when towing. the small fuel tank is a massive step backwards, I've upgraded mine to 213 L which is amazing for touring. Love the look of them but they have taken too much of what was great about Prado.

Not suitable for a touring rig setup w/o a GVM upgrade. And are you sure of the 90L tank? Looking at Toyota AUS website for the 250 specs, and it lists it as 110L. Or is that typo on their end (still quoting the 150 Prado fuel tank specs)?
Did u guys consider the Everest V6
Superb video, can you confirm, False Floors are able to (a) put in a false floor substantial enough to protect the battery compartment providing similar space to that of the Altitude edition, and (b) remove the 3rd row seats altogether, on a LC 250 Prado Kakadu? assuming the order ever arrives of course.
They certainly are a smart looking 4WD. I really like the look of them.
Thanks for doing a run through (and fast forwarding the instruction manual reading 😂) it was interesting to see the car and hear about the features it does and doesnt have. Looking forward to seeing how you set it up 👍
Omg that was so funny about the ant!! Sorry jake! Haha it just made me laugh remembering the bee episode and then of course, lil mentions bee 😂😂
I’ve got one on order guys! Love it
How did you get it so quickly?
You will need more payload capacity, you will be over gvm with a bullbar, winch, extra fuel, tyre carrier and draw system without any other stuff. You will be better off for weight and space if you remove all the rear 5 seats. You cannot use then with your false floor so just pull them out. They are dead weight. Get it re engineered if you have to. This will lower your centre of gravity and give you maybe 80kg more payload.
This will be one of them Aussie classics !!
Lota negs out there. I've looked at it and the specs, I recon it's an awesome vehicle. Any shortcomings are easily fixed by aftermarket bolt on fruit just like every other 4wheeler out there. You're gonna love it and appreciatiate what it will do for you.
Enjoy!
Considering the exorbitant purchase price, you shouldn't have to spend any more money on it to "fix its shortcomings."
I don't understand exorbitant price. Their ranger had about 200k and was getting flogged out. This prado, with proper maintenance, will still be going in 10 years or more with over 600k on the clock. That makes it excelllent value.

Time will tell.
@brianwalker1933
As long as Jake resists the urge to drive it off a cliff at Gunshot. Don't do it buddy, don't you do it!
Congrats Lil and Jake… it’s not perfect by any stretch but I would still seriously look at one when it comes time to part with my 2014 Pajero… happy days ❤
Put your owners manual in the back rear boot storage compartment
I really love that you want to do just a basic set up to show what you can do with a standardish car while you save up for all the mods. Those of us that dont travel tube for a living cant always afford (or justify) spending large chunks of money on mods and its always refreshing to see people do it without all that. You guys starting out with a ranger and hybrid van was always so relateable and stood you out.
Nice car guys well done congratulations enjoy ur ride in life do it ur way love ur work ❤
I am on my 3rd Prado, had a 2004 for 10 years, a 2014 for 7 years, and now a 2021 since then, I was excited about this new Prado but honestly when I saw you lift the bonnet with no hydraulics, looks like manual lift and the the back of it I am pretty sure I will stay with what I have, the 2021 GXL has all the same functions you just mentioned, same towing capacity, 120 ltr fuel tank ...... so I'm happy, Toyota just lost a sale with this review .....
Good luck with the electronic when you do a river crossing that a litte bit deep.
An Everest Platinum absolutely smokes this! Only if you hold Prados for +10 years will you ever see the value in them... I only ever hold new cars in their 5-10 year warranty period, so "reliability" is never an issue anyway. Avoid and just get the 300!!
Only problem is it’s a FORD
I cancelled our GXL as soon as I saw the boot space, 3rd row and the fact the second row no longer slides
Same here. I ordered a fortuner.
@boxoffisa what is a Highlander?
@ Toyota.
I think you'll miss the interior storage space you had in the canopy. Best wishes and safe travels. You're lucky to have Esperance plates!
Lil and Jake, you are by far my favourite You tubers, with your own individual style,Jake sorry but the Ranger was your soulmate of cars, it suited your crash bash style, and your it will fit in the site attitude, not sure about the soccer mum car,as I continue to watch you excellent videos ,I will have to squint one eye a pretend you didn't sell the Ranger for this .
I was keen on one until I saw the payload to many upgrades you need before making worthwhile! The most important thing is that you happy !! Happy miles
R u going to get Bogged number plates?
Well done guys! Happy travels 😊
I'm looking forward to the Mario Kart episode.
Exciting times ahead.
Love it!! Buying the Altitude👍
No way!!!! So exciting! 🔥
@ Hope to see you guys out on the tracks one day. 😁
I just picked up yesterday a GWM ute, top of the range has all the features you need, 57k on the road
Gr8 work on your channel all the Best!
I’m sure you’ll enjoy your new car and modify it to suit your wants and needs
Kiss principle=Wear out your HTs dont waste your money until you need to ,i did on my Mux and did a lap and gibb rr on ht tyres no issues, your car will do it just be a tyre pressure guru.I luv your car,it was built for off road, its been tested for it dont overthink modifications, its got the 48 volt system in it talk to Keelan on how to use it to your advantage, just a suggestion,Enjoy Guys.😊❤😊❤
Surely a colour coded bullbar for Roos. And Clearview towing mirrors for the van 👌🏼
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 That Toyota will get you 100 times around Australia 🇦🇺🦘🦘 never run out of Adblue congratulations 🥳 Lill and Jake 🕺🏼💃
Yeah!! So stoked with it, hopefully it does. 🔥🔥 Thank you so much Paul!!
@@lilandjake yeh just don't tow anything with it.
Great walk around, I’m currently waiting on my gxl also. One point, Toyota spec sheet for the 250 is saying fuel capacity is 110litre, so may not be as bad as you first thought
i’m so happy for you guys!!!! what a win 🙏
Why did you pick Prado over something like Everest Sport which has more power and specs (has rear locker, brake controller, reverse guidance system, V6, more boot space and seating versatility with 2nd and 3rd row spacing) and less cost at around $85k?
Ford is junk that’s why, coming from an American. Don’t get why you guys love the Ranger..
Even the everest isn't ideal for what they want to do. Full time touring and they need a y62 or 200 or 300 series
Cause its not a Toyota...der

Equals money, money and more money.
Congrats guys. Well done.
Lil: don't put doggo in back with grassy feet;
Also Lil: about to take rig off road amongst the diesel and dust!
Lol.
Cheers, dd
Well done guys. Lots of negativity about the car. This was nice to see. We’re test driving an altitude next week.
Have subscribed and will follow your journey
Lots of truths too???
Just curious how you go with the width of mirrors when towing. Enjoy the new car.
Hey! Not sure yet as Toyota have still not got a brake controller yet so we can’t tow our van! But we have a camera rear view mirror that we will install anyways. I don’t think they will be wide enough to see around.
Thanks for watching!
What is going to replace all the stuff in the canopy. Massive change !
That box! Take box out; take lid off box; put lid where box was in Prado. Wondering if that works?
Congratulations!! Welcome to the Prado gang!! I predict that you will go from 22k subscribers to 44k within 12 months 😮
Good on you guys and glad to see the smiles 😃
Dont listen to the 'experts', just do you. You guys are educated enough to make the correct decisions for what you need.
Ive read so many negative comments about an Isuzu D-Max pulling a 3.5t van, yet I can overtake various V6's going up hills!!! Haters will haters and 'experts' willnmaintain they know everything!
Above everything, be safe and cant wait for the build and your next trip to the Cape!! Haha 😂
Your so right, it’s funny how many people are experts about a car they’ve more than likely never seen,
Yes you definitely will see it up the cape next year! Hopefully she likes the water!
I thought your Ranger setup and 15ft caravan was a very good combination. Not sure how the Prado is going to fill those shoes going forward.
Awesome legends. You know our views on the Ranger and all the issues we had. Shitting itself was a blessing for us and our travels. You wont regret it. Should have gone a 300 though hahahahaa. Jokes . Can't wait to cross paths with you guys again. Safe travels
Read the warranty book very carefully before modifications.
Hi Jake , You mentioned Tyre size. I thought you said 265 /65 on 18 inch rims. That is just under a 32 inch tyre.
Congrats, it looks great. We also went the simple route and don't regret at all. The one thing we wish we did early (have done now) is to apply PPF film asap. Enjoy :)
1000% get the PPF Film!
Hi guys, I think for the price it’s pretty good value. I know it’s pretty basic but it looks nice I love the front , like the leather and love the idea of that you can take the rear seats out. That’s it keep it stupa simple . What about a roo bar. I think it’s great value. Good luck and good travelling guys. Jon🇦🇺WA👍👍
@9:45 Lc 300 is a bigger suv. this prado is in the middle of fortuner and lc300 by dimensions.
Dont put a rear bar on it, you will be over GVM with the van.
19L/100 even with a diesel??
@@goingbushau yep
Nice car who’s doing the gvm upgrade as if you have a 3 ton van you going to need it
Nice looking rig Guys.
Keen to see how you personalise it.
