Love the video guys. This vehicle seems very capable. Removing back seat was never going to void warranty neither will other mods if installed correctly by a shop with an engineering license. Can't wait to see your trip across the Nullarbor it should be epic. Enjoy the fact you have made the right decision for you.
Great car upgrade, cheap suggestion for rear suspension on car - air bag in the springs. We did this to our 300 to help lift the rear when towing. We put no more than 30psi in the air bags under row. Works a treat.
Great video guys 👍🏻 thanks for sharing the first hook up too! good to see it for the first time and the couple of things to keep in mind with the new set up. Looks like a pretty capable setup 👍🏻
The new adventure really begins so much fun ahead for you and just a little reminder, although it probably doesn't matter now you're leaving WA but max speed when towing is 100 😜
Don't forget Do Not use 0w-20 oil it will kill it in Australia especially towing and in our heat, use 5w-30 or even 5w-40 as you are in hotter conditions and towing. You will see why if you watch just Autos Mechanical videos.
Loved watching Jake fan boy over TJ and Mac lol. They are bloody awesome though. Gladcto see you loving thevbew Prado. A couple of mods and will be perfect
Check out the tear down video comparing drive train and suspension parts on 300 v 250. Every component in the 300 is sturdier and more robust. Including the diff. 3 tons behind that? I know which one I’d rather use as a tow vehicle. These guys broke their last vehicle and I think they’ll break this too. But as TH-camrs that’s probably okay.
94 km/h GPS speed @ 2500rpm locked in 4th in my 2021 2.8 Hilux with same engine but 6 speed auto. Also I get 14l/100km towing 2,8T pop top hybrid at that speed.
@@bishopkinlyside8477 i actually went outside and looked at this! But na you can’t, the design of it is that way for the little suspension piece in it. Just have to wait for lift!
If you don't want a wired air compressor, a milwaukee m12 or m18 is next best. Same battery and charger as battery tools and you don't need to carry extra hoses and leads. Air bags are a bandaid. Suspension upgrade or gvm is best. Enjoying your journey, cheers!
If you get airbag man air bags it will fix the problem without changing the springs . Ask harry he did the same on his Prado. And after doing that on my Fortuner it fixed the sag without compromising the ride
Hi Lil and Jake, it’s like you won the gold lotto. I’m so happy for you both Lil You are so excitable and I must say, I absolutely love it. I’m so proud of you both , keep up the good work love the videos Cliff from Logan city, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 I’m on big island 🏝️
Hey guys great video! Whats the mpg for the Prado now that you are using it more? And whats the best thing that you like on the Prado? Keep it up. Best,
Hey! Without the van it does about 9 lph and with the van it’s about 17. And I don’t think you could go past the looks, never seen a standard car look so good! Thanks for watching!
I love how much you were fan girling Jake 😍 It’s why I love you guys so much, you’re both so real! 💜 Not sure about the Tuff Terrain gear tho mate, I’ve had some real potatoes from them. Hit and miss with quality control. Think I’d go for the MoRRFlate over this one. Safe travel back east. Loved having you guys here in WA 💜
@@paintandpinotinperth7868 hahaha, yes I’m a big fan of tj and Mac! ok that’s interesting about the compressor, we’ve not had a lot to do with tuff terrain, but from what we’ve had has been ok. I will look into the morr flare though. Thanks legend! ❤️
Hey! Haven’t got that tested yet! And to be honest there wasn’t that much stuff in the ranger canopy. We sold the swag and the boat. The canopy was always empty because of gcm requirements. What was in it fitted into a few Bunnings tubs in the back of the Prado

It's slower than the old one. 😂 Good old Toyota, always doing the bare minimum. Once you fully load this thing and hang your van off the back, you're going to need a tune.
@@lilandjake I did 2" lift first then had to upgrade rear springs, so make sure they upgrade rear springs with the lift, went with 300kg springs from memory. Also check your rear axle capacity. cheers
Gee these cars have come along way with technology the beeping stuff comfort and mabe fuel economy , but are they any better 4 wheel driving against the average 80series with say a 3inch lift , have things got better with 4 wheel driving or its just better because off the new fancier stuff 🤔 i would like to up grade but im scared I'd be going backwards in reliability , and have they improved the hand brake the prado is on a landcuiser chassis now im told so the hand brake would still be shit then 😢
Hey legend, I think it’s a bit of a compromise with any car, definitely an 80 series might be better in some situations, and the Prado in others, I think reliability in new cars is great for the first 5 years. I think an older car is great for someone who is mechanically minded, and able to keep up little maintenance jobs, horses for courses
@@lilandjakegee my car is 28 years old you saying a new car after 5 years could be a handful to work on doing it yourself 😢 gotta love the old Toyotas then , I think you just saved me 1 hundred thousand dollars then , thank you , yer i think I'll still stick with the old girl shes been good to me 😊 🍻
Not a fan of that spare tyre under the rear re clearance & the pain in the butt experience of swapping out a flat when out bush. That adjustable tow hitch needs an angle grinder as those lower end notches would never come in use. Two glaring facts - needs a 2inch lift+ heavier rated rear springs+ 17inch rims with decent tyre wall height. Perhaps a rear mount swing out spare tyre & swap in an extra fuel tank underneath would be logical unless these new Prado's are just being purchased as a general use runabout. I still can't understand why the twin turbo V6 was not an option as it is a no brainer in any mans language (Ford Everest damn got it right)
Not sure why anyone would buy a prado for $87k when you can get a 300 for a extra $10k if there using it to tow and tour oz doesn't really make much sense 🤷♂️
Hey, legend! 10g is a lot of money to spend on a gvm upgrade, wheels and tyres. Also the tech is insanely better in the Prado compared to 300. The 300 is also coming out with a facelift next year so would be buying an old product, and Toyota also assured me it will be coming with a significant price increase.
@christiaanlubbe5781 you can get a 300 gxl with 30k on it under 100k engine only just wore in ready to go cheap as chips if you ask me if I was going tow a van around

Isn’t it a good idea for the brake controller knob be placed where it’s accessible to the passenger?

ARB is a great compressor
6th most likely is your 1:1 gear, 7 and 8 will be your non towing over drive gears, if you want to save your gear box do not tow in 7 and 8

Doesn’t exactly jump out of its skin, especially towing. Same motor and an extra 200kg doesn’t help. The old one is quicker
Why do they give these cars a 3500kg towing capacity? The rear suspension is not suitable.
Yep just needs bigger springs on the back then shes all dandy guys 👍take the muffler off you dont need add blue then no muffler to clean 😀
