I personally loved the episode and this season in particular. I am team Dolores and wouldn't mind she ending the world! I Just hope she makes it in the end and doesn't sacrifice her last Pearl for the sake of the other hosts.
Another time it was said that the color of the pearl was because of Bernard being a hybrid. Now it is said it is because he houses the key. I would say that the data within the host, shouldn't change the outside of the pearl. great episode!
Around 12:00 , about Serac's hologram in the meeting room. There's a projector on a pillar in the room, blinking with white light. Also you could notice that the hologram doesn't change its locations (just some turning around), indicating that the hologram is fixed in place. It's just a fancy projector that doesn't need a screen.
Another parallel: Mauve gave all the Hosts copies of a map to crash the simulation. Dolores gives all the humans copies of a map to crash society. (This map is The Plan and is too big to give to everyone intact so they just get their portion)
Timothy Gunnet-Shoval By saying "of his own genre", I thought I was clear until I realized that I was translating from French. Genre is French for kind or type. So Serac (being French like me) uses the expression which correctly describes the uniqueness of his brother. Too bad most reactors missed it. God you have to pay attention with this show...I love it!

It's just bizarre that the writers of the show, who never seem to miss a detail, would introduce a Latin phrase which ties in to the title of the episode only by the French translation. It was either extremely subtle (too subtle for an English only speaking audiences) or a coincidence. I get Serac is French, but still...
Interesting. At episode 5, Serak told: Nobody would find something about me. HE ADDS: except my brother.....I beleive he has make a big mistake by saying that..Yes. Because i really beleive it is to have a contact with Serak ' s brother that Liam'uncle ( Dolores), have give to Bernold the place of this psychiatric clinique where his brother is ....with some others outliners of course ! Serak is really a psychopathe. But to fight him and to win AGAINST this man, i beleive that a conversation with his brother is essential to succeed the battle against this asshole.
Can we just take a second and applaud Aaron Pauls acting!! The scene where Dolores takes the bullets for him could have been cheesy or overacted in its reveal that Dolores is not human. But he barely needed any dialogue to be able to communicate that he doesn't fully understand, but he understands enough. And he's somewhat shocked and confused, but with everything else going on, nothing really seems too crazy anymore. He's amazing all-around, but this small moment really stood out for me! GIVE THEM ALL EMMYS!
Agree. I joined Westworld on this season and have been held in by Aaron Paul's performance and character. At the end of the episode I thought this is best acting in a sci-fi drama since Rami Malek in, well choose your episode of Mr Robot. The final season with the episode in four acts should get nominated along with this episode.
It's called being talented and an excellent actress. Whereas in a place called Hollywood there seems to be a lack of talent. Just a bunch of pretty faces who don't have a clue.

I enjoyed this episode, idk why more people are not watching this show. Especially when this is something that could actually happen in the far future. The way our data is collected come on.
There are many people who aren't "smart enough" to handle this show lol. People just want basic stories with instant gratification. Westworld is the opposite of that. It is a show that you have to watch a few times and then do the shocking thing of THINKING to figure out what is going on. People nowadays just want to watch the brain dead Kardashians because it's a simple show with simple people doing incredibly simple things. lol

Re-watch the episode. The bag is Delores' not Caleb's, and it might be Delores' spare parts. At this point, I don't see that Caleb is really questioning what Delores is doing, though the blood on his hands and the question of her non-humanity are nagging at him. Still, despite the out-of-sequence trailers, it wasn't Caleb but a Delori that Bernard was talking too. So, it's possible Hale will break free of Delores' plan--but which plan?
Yep. Previous previews show Delores and Caleb next to some kind of cask with Delores missing most of her skin? Also, she looses an arm at some point and is riddled with bullet holes right now. Given the size and lumpiness of the package. Think that must be Delores suit. Pre-made for just such occasions.
I think Caleb in fact is his friend that he sees in his flashbacks and because of that, his mother don't recognize him. In some point he would die and his mind (black Caleb) is transfer to his friends (white Caleb) body, and than he goes to the reeducational program and the tale about his head shot is just to uncover this. :)

Everybody was disappointed with Ep5 but not me, I was stoked, and it did not disappoint. The whole Genre trip folks hated, but if you've done psychedelics, it was on par.

OMG you do videos on Westworld too!!! This is quickly becoming my new favorite channel. Something Evan said in the post credits "making of" type of footage is that this is an act of anarchy and it's all about what you believe is right thing. This read very V for Vendetta to me in the way of one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist. For who Dolores is, I love what she did. It was almost like a Daenerys burn the city down style. To build the future she wants, she has to destroy what already is and build upon it's ashes. I love her character evolution and she is the T3 I've always wanted.

Great video as usual. I honestly think that Rehoboan is seeing the events that we see in the show in a loop. It's replaying the disruptions in the timeline over and over, trying to figure out a way to change the outcome. Also, Serac's actor deserves alot of phrase, his acting is phenominal.
Interesting episode... When I watched it, the movie genre scenes felt off. It was the first time in the whole show that it didn't feel like Westworld. Now that I have had some time to thing about it, I kinda appreciate those scenes, but they still feel a bit odd and unconnected to the rest of the show.
watching the BTS, it seems one of the directors (producer?) really wanted a car chase scene. i guess the bad trip seems like the only way they could elevate it. felt super draggy & unnecessary imo
I have to agree, some of those scenes really took me out of the episode for a minute. That and the Brazilian president's ridiculous Portuguese accent and acting lol, but I guess only people who speak Portuguese would notice the language situation, Serac's Portuguese was waaaay better, I was so surprised. Anyway, the revelations and themes of the episodes were pretty great, I just wish they would've done it in a way that felt more like "Westworld", although I can't really tell you exactly how that would go.
Nah, it still didnt work at times. Take the music out and it just drags. It was a bit much at times. I see wht they were trying to do but it didnt work at times. Stay with your intial thought , because you were correct.

None of the commenters on this episode have been able to pick up that an instrumental rendition of David Bowie's "Ground Control to Major Tom" was also featured in the episode. The creators are absolutely brilliant!!
Good review well done. Just a couple of comments. 1st. The whole Rehoboam scenario seems to parallel the Foundation books of Isaac Asimov to a degree, with the 1st foundation thinking they were in charge and the 2nd foundation the one actually pulling the strings. 2nd. As Delores and the rest were going up the escalator from the train, the over head projection of the fish seemed to freeze momentarily, at first I thought it was a glitch in my recording, but I re-watched it a few times and it seems to be only the fish projection that freezes while the other characters continue as normal, this freeze happens a split second before Caleb turns to look back down the escalator. It may just be a glitch in my recording but if it is seen by others, it may mean something.
I noticed that glitch too, my first association was with Matrix and the glitching cat - meaning, something is changing, messing up in the system , that might support the theory it's a simulation. But, actually I think these fish were not real ones, just a video on screen - hence the glitch, meaning - they are not glitching fish hosts, just animated ones on the screen - this is what I think, hope it makes sense :D
@@wojciechk50 Oh yes, they were only animated projections, but I was just wondering if that glitch had anything to do with the story, I can't see them letting an error like that go by without a reason, as while I may be grasping at straws, Caleb seemed to have one of his moments at that particular time.
Each and everyone is talking about Dolores vs serac but it is actually Ford vs serac Everything Dolores doing is what Ford planned Bernard is the one with the data of human minds I think so that is why he can't be replaced as mentioned by Martin. Its all connected from season 1 to 3. However the story has so many layers its difficult for people to understand it. Its not a simple ai vs human. It's more of a larger commentary of the future
@aakash t Good point about Ford being the real actor. We saw early in Season 1 how he felt that humanity could no longer evolve and that evolution’s only tool for change and improvement was the mistake. Serec’s plan to save humanity by putting everyone on a loop and eliminating outliers (mistakes) is the antithesis of evolution and what Ford wanted.
@@edbouhl3100 yeah, she might not be programmed by Ford to do so but Ford has some real impact on her creation so definitely it's a large game that no one is actually thinking.
11:41 Bernard may be the key, because her plan may involve deaths of all the Delorii, including herself. But since Delores keeps reminding Bernard that 'You live as long as the last person who remembers you' remembers you' and he is the only one who truly remembers her, then he's the only one who can bring her back....and crucially without Wyatt (who was Ford's creation). If Delores-Wyatt's plan works then Bernard will bring her back all innocent at the end, without the memory or guilt of what was needed to be done to secure her freedom and that of the other hosts.
Used to love her but her character arc is drying out fast. Her only motivation is a fake daughter? Really? One that already has a mom? Lmao. They need to make her more important and not just another Bernard type character to Delores. I mean the lady is single handidly the strongest robot with her ability to mind control.
Great review. It’s interesting humanity in the real world is as much slaves to the system as the hosts in westworld. The music during the episode was cracking. I would suggest, if you haven’t watched it to try Jonathan Nolan’s Person of Interest. There are so many parallels between west world and person of interest.
I really enjoyed watching this episode. I know I’m not the only one that picked up on the nod to Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind original theme from The Shining. AMAZING
Did Caleb kill his own friend? In the flashback, it's hinted that he did because the guy they were supposed to kill is standing handcuffed while Caleb is trying to save his friend's life.
Westworld brilliance is undervalued! I feel like shows like this, that make its viewers theorize future outcomes and relstionships are THE BEST SHOWS!! For whatever reason Westworld isnt getting the level of love it deserves and it makes me sad the this show might not be around as long as it should be. The show is amazingly smart and creative. I just hope it gets the chance to wrap up properly.
In fact its rather divisive, this season has left many reviews perplexed and polarized. This episode and last in particular seems to be rather divisive. I like the show a lot but sometimes I wish it was a little more efficient at its storytelling. I wouldn't be surprised that it will only get one more season and that's it.
I could see it being Future World. People told me that this season is similar to the plot of that movie. For all we know, the real world is probably the ruined one we saw in the post credit scene for the season 2 finale.
One location that reinforces the Mirror World theory is the parallel between the Inner Journeys reeducation centre (where William is in and Caleb was, shown in the 3x06 trailer) and the Mesa Hub diagnostics labs (note the reclining chairs where they are being reprogrammed)
Okay, maybe I am reading too much into this (and by maybe I mean definitely) but Engerrard Serac is an anagram for Ern Danger Cares. Ern or ERN is Error-related Negativity. Essentially, is the electrical activity in the brain that when we make an error whether we are conscious of the error or not. Cares is Serac spelt backwards.
Obscure may not be the best word, but it is to your everyday person who hasn't just read it or isn't a lit enthusiast or professor. I read one of these years ago, but I forgot the character names.
Great observation on the flies. This was one of the best episodes in the entire series’s dm that soundtrack was fantastic. I do agree with you that everything isn’t what it seems and I’m predicting that at least one of the remaining Delori will switch sides by the end of the season.
I was seriously thinking Delores was in the simulation and Maeve was in the real world, but now I think it may be the other way around. Maeve is a part of the study and reeducation project (Inception type sim within a sim). Delores is in the real world, which acts like a simulation because everyone is on a predetermined track. Maeve breaks the true sim and releases the outliers, Delores removes the ability for Rehoboem to continue to influence and control the true reality
Caleb is a host 100%. He got shot this episode and didn't even notice. When Dalores shields him one of the bullets goes through her and Caleb was standing right behind her. The host will have to be Caleb or become Serac as they are the only developed characters. Dalores gets shot multiple times this episode and is not affected, but before she got shot once and acted like she almost died until Caleb "saved her" suggesting that it was staged. His only shown memories are being abandoned by his mother and the death of his friend. The later is probably his keystone memory. The former was needed for him to maintain his identity. Remember that his own mother said that he isn't her son. This could be due to her Schizophrenia or because she knows that her real son died.
I'm not entirely sure either way but I definitely agree that his memories or flashbacks were very, very reminiscent of host flashbacks, one of many examples being Bernard's flashbacks to his cornerstone memory, the death of 'his' son. Whenever a human, like Ford, recalled the past they were usually continuous, fleshed-out sequences with detail, not what is essentially the same still images repeating.
I think Caleb's mother isn't actually ill, but she is in fact an outlier that the system detected and is now trying to "fix". The doctor even told Caleb that she has to be signed over to the state based on her condition.
This episode is epic. Can't wait for next week episode. My favorite scene in the episode is "The Shining beach" scene. Honestly, I'm surprised when 'The Shining" music playing in the background 😅 My mother said there are a little bit secrets in the character of Caleb...
My absolute favorite use of this is Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz. I forgot how much I love this. Symphonie fantastique is a piece of program music that tells the story of an artist gifted with a lively imagination who has poisoned himself with opium in the depths of despair because of hopeless, unrequited love. It has 5 movements. Leonard Bernstein described the symphony as the first musical expedition into psychedelia because of its hallucinatory and dream-like nature, and because history suggests Berlioz composed at least a portion of it under the influence of opium. According to Bernstein, "Berlioz tells it like it is. You take a trip, you wind up screaming at your own funeral."

The black circle on white background is explained as the moon aligning with the sun; this is a visual representation of a corona... a nice easter egg i found.
I also loved the "Theme from Love Story" bit -- it had me cracking up! The music is from the 1970 film Love Story with Ali MacGraw & Tim O'Neal, who portray two young people from different socioeconomic classes who fall in love despite their differences/backgrounds & families' disapproval. The reference to it was so perfect here, as was the Ride of the Valkyeries/Wagner bit from Apocalypse Now (one of my all-time favorite movies).
I like how Liam wore the basic shirt, after they kidnapped and took all his money. and when they show peo their actual future. Liam said that everyone back to the base.

Heavy Spoilers , though unlikely as it may seems. If Caleb is Serac’s brother, he might have put himself knowingly into the Reeducation program reclaiming “innocence”. With other fans comments here of Sera referring to his brother as Sui Generis (Of his own kind) and the drug that Caleb was injected by Liam. There are parallels in the Hindu thoughts of God playing its own drama in a cosmic dance. This will add an interesting angle when if he is forced to choose between Serac, Dolores and Rehoboam. Or he might just be another glitch of the fix in the system. The show is getting interesting and thank you again for doing these amazing cuts and summaries.
On Caleb, the "re-education center" reminds me of Clockwork Orange, meaning he was a criminal before sent to the center, and reprogrammed in the institution to be a meek man. I have been suspecting that he was carrying out some crime (eg. bank robbery) with his friend in his flashback, while I have the impression that you think that he's a veteran and they were in battlefield. The Clockwork Orange theory also explains the strange music selection in this episode. Maybe like Kubrick's choice of classical music, those rock songs performed by original artists are considered "classical" in this episode.
We were told Caleb has a military grade implant, and flashbacks include camo, so I think that's probably where the vet status comes into play. Interesting that the Ride of the Valkyries song paired with shooting/being shot at doesn't trigger any military ptsd tho.
I lean towards the simulation theory as well. I did not notice the woman running on the pier when they were at the beach but i did notice several people running in the background from an earlier scene. It is right after Ash and Giggles shot Serac’s man in the streets and if you look at the background you can see a few runners between cutbacks. I remembering thinking it was a bit odd.
Something that no one is mentioning, don't Serac expanding his lifespan by constantly being on the air? He's traveling faster than anybody else down on earth, thus, expanding his lifespan. Maybe that's why we constantly see him inside that airplane, above clouds.
When did Dempsey Jr, get changed out of his suit and why did it turn from night to day during a train journey. Is this signs of a simulation like in previous episodes??
If Dolores didn't know about the weapon Calab got at the end, wouldn't she have asked about it?? She seen him take it from the delivery guy and didn't say shit, so I really doubt it came from Seroc.
This episode was a real feat of filmmaking, I mean that whole heartedly. Big Ideas 💡 & Flawless execution through the cast and crew in particular Aaron Paul, Anna Foerster (Director), Johnathan Nolan (episode writer & producer) & Karrie Crouse (episode writer). I think Evan Rachel Wood has been strong throughout this season but tonight was a step above, in my humble opinion.
xx JahoviA xx 😂, Well art is subjective for sure. I like what they’ve done with this season but I can tell a lot of people don’t. Maybe it had to do with the genre vibes or the cinematography or the dialogue or all of it but I was glued to my seat this week.
Solid but my one quibble is I don't think Caleb sees Dolores as a host yet, as he was still on Genre and more likely questions himself "Did i see what I thought I saw?" The camera then lingers on the exit hole in the jacket. Caleb will notice this at a later date when he is straight and then has suspicions about her existence.
An episode 5 totally crazy necessarily on hallucinogenic drug. The childhood of Sérac the creation of Rehoboam. I think you have to review it several times to really be under the influence of GENRE. DOLORES she just ruthless I hope she will find light next to Caleb in this future under control 🕶✌

I enjoyed this episode, idk why more people are not watching this show. Especially when this is something that could actually happen in the far future. The way our data is collected come on.
There are many people who aren't "smart enough" to handle this show lol. People just want basic stories with instant gratification. Westworld is the opposite of that. It is a show that you have to watch a few times and then do the shocking thing of THINKING to figure out what is going on. People nowadays just want to watch the brain dead Kardashians because it's a simple show with simple people doing incredibly simple things. lol

Re-watch the episode. The bag is Delores' not Caleb's, and it might be Delores' spare parts. At this point, I don't see that Caleb is really questioning what Delores is doing, though the blood on his hands and the question of her non-humanity are nagging at him. Still, despite the out-of-sequence trailers, it wasn't Caleb but a Delori that Bernard was talking too. So, it's possible Hale will break free of Delores' plan--but which plan?

I think Caleb in fact is his friend that he sees in his flashbacks and because of that, his mother don't recognize him. In some point he would die and his mind (black Caleb) is transfer to his friends (white Caleb) body, and than he goes to the reeducational program and the tale about his head shot is just to uncover this. :)

OMG you do videos on Westworld too!!! This is quickly becoming my new favorite channel. Something Evan said in the post credits "making of" type of footage is that this is an act of anarchy and it's all about what you believe is right thing. This read very V for Vendetta to me in the way of one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist. For who Dolores is, I love what she did. It was almost like a Daenerys burn the city down style. To build the future she wants, she has to destroy what already is and build upon it's ashes. I love her character evolution and she is the T3 I've always wanted.

Great video as usual. I honestly think that Rehoboan is seeing the events that we see in the show in a loop. It's replaying the disruptions in the timeline over and over, trying to figure out a way to change the outcome. Also, Serac's actor deserves alot of phrase, his acting is phenominal.
Interesting episode... When I watched it, the movie genre scenes felt off. It was the first time in the whole show that it didn't feel like Westworld. Now that I have had some time to thing about it, I kinda appreciate those scenes, but they still feel a bit odd and unconnected to the rest of the show.
watching the BTS, it seems one of the directors (producer?) really wanted a car chase scene. i guess the bad trip seems like the only way they could elevate it. felt super draggy & unnecessary imo
I have to agree, some of those scenes really took me out of the episode for a minute. That and the Brazilian president's ridiculous Portuguese accent and acting lol, but I guess only people who speak Portuguese would notice the language situation, Serac's Portuguese was waaaay better, I was so surprised. Anyway, the revelations and themes of the episodes were pretty great, I just wish they would've done it in a way that felt more like "Westworld", although I can't really tell you exactly how that would go.

Good review well done. Just a couple of comments.
1st. The whole Rehoboam scenario seems to parallel the Foundation books of Isaac Asimov to a degree, with the 1st foundation thinking they were in charge and the 2nd foundation the one actually pulling the strings.
2nd. As Delores and the rest were going up the escalator from the train, the over head projection of the fish seemed to freeze momentarily, at first I thought it was a glitch in my recording, but I re-watched it a few times and it seems to be only the fish projection that freezes while the other characters continue as normal, this freeze happens a split second before Caleb turns to look back down the escalator.
It may just be a glitch in my recording but if it is seen by others, it may mean something.
I noticed that glitch too, my first association was with Matrix and the glitching cat - meaning, something is changing, messing up in the system , that might support the theory it's a simulation. But, actually I think these fish were not real ones, just a video on screen - hence the glitch, meaning - they are not glitching fish hosts, just animated ones on the screen - this is what I think, hope it makes sense :D

Bernard is the one with the data of human minds I think so that is why he can't be replaced as mentioned by Martin.
Its all connected from season 1 to 3. However the story has so many layers its difficult for people to understand it.
Its not a simple ai vs human. It's more of a larger commentary of the future

We saw early in Season 1 how he felt that humanity could no longer evolve and that evolution’s only tool for change and improvement was the mistake. Serec’s plan to save humanity by putting everyone on a loop and eliminating outliers (mistakes) is the antithesis of evolution and what Ford wanted.
If Dolores finds out she's still programmed to act on Ford's intentions....

11:41 Bernard may be the key, because her plan may involve deaths of all the Delorii, including herself. But since Delores keeps reminding Bernard that 'You live as long as the last person who remembers you' remembers you' and he is the only one who truly remembers her, then he's the only one who can bring her back....and crucially without Wyatt (who was Ford's creation).
If Delores-Wyatt's plan works then Bernard will bring her back all innocent at the end, without the memory or guilt of what was needed to be done to secure her freedom and that of the other hosts.

Great review. It’s interesting humanity in the real world is as much slaves to the system as the hosts in westworld. The music during the episode was cracking. I would suggest, if you haven’t watched it to try Jonathan Nolan’s Person of Interest. There are so many parallels between west world and person of interest.

Westworld brilliance is undervalued! I feel like shows like this, that make its viewers theorize future outcomes and relstionships are THE BEST SHOWS!! For whatever reason Westworld isnt getting the level of love it deserves and it makes me sad the this show might not be around as long as it should be. The show is amazingly smart and creative. I just hope it gets the chance to wrap up properly.
In fact its rather divisive, this season has left many reviews perplexed and polarized. This episode and last in particular seems to be rather divisive. I like the show a lot but sometimes I wish it was a little more efficient at its storytelling. I wouldn't be surprised that it will only get one more season and that's it.

Okay, maybe I am reading too much into this (and by maybe I mean definitely) but Engerrard Serac is an anagram for Ern Danger Cares. Ern or ERN is Error-related Negativity. Essentially, is the electrical activity in the brain that when we make an error whether we are conscious of the error or not. Cares is Serac spelt backwards.

I was seriously thinking Delores was in the simulation and Maeve was in the real world, but now I think it may be the other way around. Maeve is a part of the study and reeducation project (Inception type sim within a sim). Delores is in the real world, which acts like a simulation because everyone is on a predetermined track.
Maeve breaks the true sim and releases the outliers, Delores removes the ability for Rehoboem to continue to influence and control the true reality
Caleb is a host 100%. He got shot this episode and didn't even notice. When Dalores shields him one of the bullets goes through her and Caleb was standing right behind her. The host will have to be Caleb or become Serac as they are the only developed characters. Dalores gets shot multiple times this episode and is not affected, but before she got shot once and acted like she almost died until Caleb "saved her" suggesting that it was staged. His only shown memories are being abandoned by his mother and the death of his friend. The later is probably his keystone memory. The former was needed for him to maintain his identity. Remember that his own mother said that he isn't her son. This could be due to her Schizophrenia or because she knows that her real son died.
I'm not entirely sure either way but I definitely agree that his memories or flashbacks were very, very reminiscent of host flashbacks, one of many examples being Bernard's flashbacks to his cornerstone memory, the death of 'his' son. Whenever a human, like Ford, recalled the past they were usually continuous, fleshed-out sequences with detail, not what is essentially the same still images repeating.
I think Caleb's mother isn't actually ill, but she is in fact an outlier that the system detected and is now trying to "fix". The doctor even told Caleb that she has to be signed over to the state based on her condition.

My absolute favorite use of this is Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz. I forgot how much I love this.

I also loved the "Theme from Love Story" bit -- it had me cracking up! The music is from the 1970 film Love Story with Ali MacGraw & Tim O'Neal, who portray two young people from different socioeconomic classes who fall in love despite their differences/backgrounds & families' disapproval. The reference to it was so perfect here, as was the Ride of the Valkyeries/Wagner bit from Apocalypse Now (one of my all-time favorite movies).

Heavy Spoilers , though unlikely as it may seems. If Caleb is Serac’s brother, he might have put himself knowingly into the Reeducation program reclaiming “innocence”. With other fans comments here of Sera referring to his brother as Sui Generis (Of his own kind) and the drug that Caleb was injected by Liam. There are parallels in the Hindu thoughts of God playing its own drama in a cosmic dance. This will add an interesting angle when if he is forced to choose between Serac, Dolores and Rehoboam. Or he might just be another glitch of the fix in the system. The show is getting interesting and thank you again for doing these amazing cuts and summaries.

On Caleb, the "re-education center" reminds me of Clockwork Orange, meaning he was a criminal before sent to the center, and reprogrammed in the institution to be a meek man. I have been suspecting that he was carrying out some crime (eg. bank robbery) with his friend in his flashback, while I have the impression that you think that he's a veteran and they were in battlefield.
The Clockwork Orange theory also explains the strange music selection in this episode. Maybe like Kubrick's choice of classical music, those rock songs performed by original artists are considered "classical" in this episode.
Or more like Minority Report where you are jailed for future crimes?

We were told Caleb has a military grade implant, and flashbacks include camo, so I think that's probably where the vet status comes into play. Interesting that the Ride of the Valkyries song paired with shooting/being shot at doesn't trigger any military ptsd tho.
I lean towards the simulation theory as well. I did not notice the woman running on the pier when they were at the beach but i did notice several people running in the background from an earlier scene. It is right after Ash and Giggles shot Serac’s man in the streets and if you look at the background you can see a few runners between cutbacks. I remembering thinking it was a bit odd.
One point, Caleb is happy with what Delores did. He likes the chaos if not the death.

Something that no one is mentioning, don't Serac expanding his lifespan by constantly being on the air? He's traveling faster than anybody else down on earth, thus, expanding his lifespan. Maybe that's why we constantly see him inside that airplane, above clouds.

I think Evan Rachel Wood has been strong throughout this season but tonight was a step above, in my humble opinion.

xx JahoviA xx 😂, Well art is subjective for sure. I like what they’ve done with this season but I can tell a lot of people don’t. Maybe it had to do with the genre vibes or the cinematography or the dialogue or all of it but I was glued to my seat this week.

Agree, apart from the very slow car chase.
Solid but my one quibble is I don't think Caleb sees Dolores as a host yet, as he was still on Genre and more likely questions himself "Did i see what I thought I saw?" The camera then lingers on the exit hole in the jacket. Caleb will notice this at a later date when he is straight and then has suspicions about her existence.
Same then I think he questions his reality and kills himself ..

Not sure, but somehow someway that simulation within a simulation phrase will play out in this season eventually.
