How do you know the brazilian president speaks portuguese so badly? 😂 As I brazilian I thought that was ridicolous besides not speaking portguese well, they represented Brazil as generic "central" America military. Also they have a brazilian in the show, Vicent Cassel himself speaks fluent portuguese and have lived in Brazil.
Ricardo Perez “ Has “sir “ he has lived in Brazil ... have - is like when you posses an object . Example : I have 2 cats . “Has “ is past tense . However when using it with objects it becomes “ had “ in the past tense .. I had 2 cats .

Liam saying humanity is build on hope is also a reference to Greek mythology, namely the myth of Pandora's box. Pandora opened it and all evils escaped, the only thing that was left inside: hope. Now it is like Dolores has release the last content of the box and Humanity lost their hope. Maybe there are some other analogies?
toon dehaene Your logic is faulty. Pandora released the evils INTO the world. If Dolores released hope from there as well, it should have went INTO the world, right? But it was already there. Did she seal it back into the box? I don’t see your point here.
@@RestlessTheRED yeah that's also been somewhat confusing for me when reading the myth, but that's how it's translated most often, there's a whole section on Wikipedia discussing the different approach on how to translate what stayed in the box

I think for creative purposes, they had to stick with France. And yeah, Bolsanaro is way worse. He is literally wearing a face mask and going to speak to the press and saying the lockdown is stupid and based on a Marxist plot. That's what he said about climate change and the Amazon fires. He loves to accuse something he doesn't like as cultural marxism which is a conspiracy theory and based on fallacious terms. He is so worse that he defends dictators during the dictatorship in Brazil and Chile which saw over 300000 leftists murdered for their ideological beliefs that he participated in and was dishonorably discharged for trying to bomb his unit. He's literally a war criminal. I mean, the US was supporting that a dictatorship that this monster participated in? This is a guy who advocates for torture, has stripped away indigenous rights, says he prefers his son dead if he was gay, and is so misogynistic that he gives Trump a run for his money. I mean, his own actions in dealing with the Covid- 19 outbreak is so bad that state governors in his own party and gang leaders are now practically in charge of said lockdowns in several provinces and cities. This is what has happened in Brazil.
Im brazilian and felt the same about Vicent Cassel, I was impressed. Thought he might got had been a edited voiceover?? But why not do the same with the other actor? Don’t know. Also Bolsonaro sucks fuck him
The name of Serac's brother, "Jean-mi" is a french nickname for "Jean-Michel", which comes from the hebrew : "God remits. Which(who) is as God.". It seems very plausible that the mind of Jean-mi is inside Rehoboam, the new god of their world.
This explanation is a lot better than the one on Reddit that says Jean-Mi is the French equivalent to American English slang for a gay hillbilly or something like that.

can't wait for the episode 6 breakdown. Your breakdowns are always spot on. I also love the Ouroboros symbolism used in Serach' watch.. and throughout the series
Brilliant as always! The appeal of these are your insightful observations and your excellent speaking voice. Everything you narrate is immensely good ro listen to. What I would say is that Delores has been shot lots of times, maybe on that one occasion in the tunnel she had damage to more critical parts of her inner workings. The hosts are bullet resistant rather than bullet proof.
The many nods to Greek mythology comes mainly from writer/co-creator Lisa Joy who has said growing up that she was obsessed with the myths and has, obviously, found its way into her work. Also the "Art is a mind altering substance" line....fucking love that. Great video as always, cheers!

"And why couldn't HBO find an actor who could speak Portuguese properly?" As a Brazilian, my thoughts exactly. That whole sequence felt so awkward, me and my father were laughing our asses off by the end of it.
I'm Brazilian... And watching that guy trying to speak my language was cringy AF lol I don't know why, but it's not just westworld... TV shows and movies just don't know how Brazilian people sound... Pretty funny, really Edit: The dude that plays Serac spoke it better than the guy that's suposed to be the president of Brazil
Westworld surprised Serac - he says "Imagine my surprise when I discovered that someone had put together a more complete portrait. A map of the human mind. Created in a theme park, of all places!"
@@AltShiftX but Serac also said that he predicted the uprising of the hosts... So what's his purpose with the hosts and rehoboam with humanity? Put the hosts inside Rehoboam to create a God-Like Super Deus Ex Machina because the hosts are similar to technology and humanity at the same time? I can't believe he will just put then into "Heaven for Hosts".
Theory: The circle representing Rehoboam's influence is not a singular circle at all, but an eclipse between reality (darker circle) and the white circle (Rehoboam). When the circle grows "chaotic" the circles simply move away from each other, when Rehoboam is less capable of controlling perceptions of reality. Strangely, this representation of world states rapidly changing via twin circles interacting is somewhat common: think of the "darksign" of Dark Souls, the eclipse in Berserk, and the eclipse in the show Heroes.
I think the 5th pearl is for Gerald "Thomas Kretschmann" from the first episode. He was playing the german guy (he is German) who used to work at incite, and he has stock at Delos.
Mr. Meeseeks He is definitely dead. I mean is that she recreated him with that machine in Arnolds house and put her Conscious in him and used that last pearl. Just like she did with the other ones.
@@naif-4462 That's why I added the part with the wife finding the body. Can't replace someone that is officially dead. My money is on Teddy being the 5th pearl because the dolores scooped it up and we never really saw what she did with it. People just assume he's in the valley beyond.
My favorite scene in the episode is when they step out of the train and all the humans are “frozen” after their programming is revealed, similar to the hosts being frozen in the park. Love the power dynamic switch.
I am currently re-watching Person of Interest and S3 of Westworld has so many subtle hints to that show (which is a masterpiece and much more enjoyable than the strange clusterfuck that is WW). Even Elias makes an appearance as Whitman. The more I watch Westworld, the more I whish that we got more Person of Interest Seasons. Person of Interest has truely been the only show to which I connected emotionally. I can appreciate GoT and Westworld, but I will forever miss PoI, painfully so.
I'm sure it's irrelevant but like... Saul -> David -> Solomon -> Rehoboam... each go up in a syllable, matching their order (1st is one, 4th has 4 etc)... there's 4 of them increasing in size, like the "consciousness" pyramid Ford was trying to achieve? idk! Even if just for fun I love little touches like that
Another possible referrence to both greek mythology and history is the use of the name Delos. In case it was not already mentioned, Δήλος is an island in Cyclades sacred to the Ancient Greeks. It was the birthplace of gods Apollo and Artemis: when their mother Leto was in labour, she couldn't find a place to give birth. Hera cursed her because she was pregnant with Zeus' baby. The only place in the world that accepted Leto and let her give birth was the island of Delos. Also, Delos was the chosen place were all the money of the Second Athenian League was kept. The money was famously used by the Athenians for their own purposes -much like Delos is doing with the Westworld guests.
4:16: Serac says the outliers and agitators are like "Flies in the Ointment" so that scene could represent him as a possible agitator and Serac is trying to control him and if he fails he is going to be replaced.
@@johnthom1114 I'm glad you asked. She did actually achieve conciousness by her connection to her daughter. Dolores doesn't have these connections. Or emotions.
About the moment in 15:50 , I laughed because I thought he was speaking anything else, except portuguese when I was watching this episode. As a brazilian, I must say: Cassel's portuguese was far better than the guy who plays Brazil's president (and our current one, who's kinda crazy)
I love how when Dolores and Serac are facing off in the hangar, Caleb is in the background opening the door ignorant of what's happening. In Season 3, its the Humans that are ignorant of the Truth while the Hosts are the ones in the Know.
You make very compeling arguments. I really like your channel. I think that this is how Rehoboam tries to get out of human control, by destroying his reason to exist. Not by destroying humanity, but by becoming unnecessary. We are in the midst of an event that has never happend in human history. Not a pandemic, we had already had those. But a globalization of population control. We should learn from it. Doloreses path is chaos, and that only leads to suffering. Serrac path is of absolute control, and also leads to suffering. Both are paths that require the abolition of community. We should not go down these rabbit holes. For thouthands of years we survived by trusting each other, by sharing, by resolving conflict through consent and equality. We should go back to that. Our path is together or it´s not. Freedom of the individual is as necessary as equality. None can really be acheved without the other.
hbo: hires a brazilian that doesn’t speak a word of portuguese the entire series and has a name in spanish also hbo: hires a (likely) spanish speaking guy to play a brazilian lol
Also hbo: makes sure that Serac is actually using a French azerty keyboard instead of a qwerty one. I mean, it's so weird that they could get a detail so tiny that only I seem to have noticed it right, and that particular casting choice so obviously wrong.
Stephen the guy they hired to be the pres of brazil speaks port w a spanish speaking persons accent. rodrigo santoro (hector) is brazilian. im not sure i understand ur question but those were the ethnicities i think i mentioned , so hope i helped!
Thank you for properly pronouncing Fauntleroy. Every other TH-cam recapped said Fontle-Roy. It drove me nuts. I am probably programmed to care too much about spelling, grammar, punctuation, and pronunciation!

Your videos make this series even more trippier😅. Great insight. Love the work🔥
ahhh you mention argos but not calebs mask!!! he was wearing one with all eyes, i kept meaning to comment about the connection to argos
Great point, shoulda mentioned that in the video!
I enjoy these reviews far more than the after episode livestreams. They ironically feel very different. The reviews are explanatory and fun. The livestreams are much more critical and derisive.
Yeah that voiceover guy talks a lot of shit when the ASX writing team isn't there to keep him in line.
the Schwift side of the force might be coming out some in the livestream
Serac’s plan sounds like the plot to a anime called “Psycho Pass” Really good show.
It's also pretty similar to Person of Interest, a show created by Westworld showrunner Jonathan Nolan. Person of Interest also features the actor who plays Whitman in this episode..
Bro I immediately thought about P.Pass when I saw the scene with serac's brother
@@AltShiftX oof, Person of Interest was so fucking good, I didn't realize the amount of similarities between that whole show and Westworld's season 3
Alt Shift X Someone besides me who references POI and recognized Elias, made me so happy to see that
Serac's brother is kinda criminally asymptomatic
Your reviews are unmatched
I've been refreshing every 10 mins for this 😭
Awesome video! 3 more to go, let's see if Westworld can stick the landing ☺️
Every time i watch the westworld episodes i’m stuck with 3 or 4 questions stuck in my head.
After watching this dude explanation it will become 15 to 20.
So much work and detail are put into each of these videos. Excellent stuff. Thank you.
Whatever you are getting paid for your flawless, perfectly timed ads, you should get paid more. I am actually excited when you offer anything on your videos. I trust you like a good friend giving me book suggestions. Thanks for the great content. Cheers.
these videos are excellent. this show lost me for a bit, but you regained my interest in finishing this season
can't wait for the episode 6 breakdown.
Frankly, your review make the series even more thrilling. I think HBO should pay you for these awesome breakdown.
the audible plugs are so smooth
The many nods to Greek mythology comes mainly from writer/co-creator Lisa Joy who has said growing up that she was obsessed with the myths and has, obviously, found its way into her work. Also the "Art is a mind altering substance" line....fucking love that. Great video as always, cheers!
"What is real?" - Dolores
"What is irreplaceable" - Arnold
Bern-Arnold is the only one real
How bad was the president's Portuguese?
@@YIIMM he was kind of fluent but his accent was just not from a native brazilian. Serac spoke with a much better accent.
@@eduardomendes684 Vincent Cassel lives or has lived in Brazil so that would make sense
@@YIIMM Eduardo Mendes summarized a bit but I don't say that he was fluent. For me was like someone just trying to repeat the sounds. I t was possible to understand, but I doubt he can maintain a conversation. Serac's Portuguese is far better, and that is fluent for me.
Been watching you for years now, started watching your channel during season 6 of Game of Thrones and I gotta say... For the first time ever, I've become very impatient waiting for the next vid for Westworld lol your videos and episode analysis is superb in every way. The way you break everything down is top tier and easily makes your channel my absolute favorite for things like this
With all that said... Trying my best to patiently wait for your Westworld episode 6 breakdown. Keeping my fingers crossed for tonight lol
You have a true talent for this, the gold standard in my opinion. Great work!!
"And why couldn't HBO find an actor who could speak Portuguese properly?" As a Brazilian, my thoughts exactly. That whole sequence felt so awkward, me and my father were laughing our asses off by the end of it.
Thank you for these recaps.
Thanks man ! Always a pleasure to watch your video's
I'm Brazilian... And watching that guy trying to speak my language was cringy AF lol
I don't know why, but it's not just westworld... TV shows and movies just don't know how Brazilian people sound... Pretty funny, really
Edit: The dude that plays Serac spoke it better than the guy that's suposed to be the president of Brazil
Heavily recommend the Mythos book. Fry makes something that is already very captivating and ties it all together.
"The 5th Pearl in Berlin" sounds like an awesome neon-noir spy story a la Atomic Blond.
Boy oh boy! You are such a delight to watch dude, always!!!
I wonder how much Rehoboam or Serac knew about Ford’s plans in Westworld. Did the supercomputer allow him to continue?
Westworld surprised Serac - he says "Imagine my surprise when I discovered that someone had put together a more complete portrait. A map of the human mind. Created in a theme park, of all places!"
@@AltShiftX but Serac also said that he predicted the uprising of the hosts... So what's his purpose with the hosts and rehoboam with humanity? Put the hosts inside Rehoboam to create a God-Like Super Deus Ex Machina because the hosts are similar to technology and humanity at the same time?
I can't believe he will just put then into "Heaven for Hosts".
Alt Shift X I thought in that instance he was talking about William’s work collecting data on the guests, not Ford’s plans for robot revolution.
Strangely, this representation of world states rapidly changing via twin circles interacting is somewhat common: think of the "darksign" of Dark Souls, the eclipse in Berserk, and the eclipse in the show Heroes.
yeah I was thinking its more of an eclipse, makes no sense to portray a sphere as a circle except for cool sci-fi design reasons
Pretty sure Serac narrates exactly that in the episode (he calls that a never ending eclipse)
Your editing is buttery smooth, great video
I think the 5th pearl is for Gerald "Thomas Kretschmann" from the first episode. He was playing the german guy (he is German) who used to work at incite, and he has stock at Delos.
Nope, can't be. That guy is dead and Dolores let his wife find the body.
Got worried when you didnt put up a video yesterday
Alt shift X. I look forward to your videos almost as much as the shows themselves.
Great editing, like, I've never noticed how good your editing is.
Not sure which I enjoy more: Westworld or your explanation of it.
My favorite scene in the episode is when they step out of the train and all the humans are “frozen” after their programming is revealed, similar to the hosts being frozen in the park.
Love the power dynamic switch.
That sponsor transition is as smooth as butter 11:11
I am currently re-watching Person of Interest and S3 of Westworld has so many subtle hints to that show (which is a masterpiece and much more enjoyable than the strange clusterfuck that is WW). Even Elias makes an appearance as Whitman. The more I watch Westworld, the more I whish that we got more Person of Interest Seasons. Person of Interest has truely been the only show to which I connected emotionally. I can appreciate GoT and Westworld, but I will forever miss PoI, painfully so.
Amen!
didnt jonathan nolan work on that show
@@Yzyenthusiast Hahaha! He created, produced and wrote that show.
6:35 that part of the song is also pretty famously sampled by Immortal Technique in Dance with the Devil, so that's a fun little tid bit
That loooooong segway to the end of the video towards Audible was something! :'D
I'm sure it's irrelevant but like... Saul -> David -> Solomon -> Rehoboam... each go up in a syllable, matching their order (1st is one, 4th has 4 etc)... there's 4 of them increasing in size, like the "consciousness" pyramid Ford was trying to achieve? idk! Even if just for fun I love little touches like that
This guy really does his homework researching
I am really enjoying the way you making this videos.Keep it up!
Greetings from Russia 👍
The argos covered in eyes looks a lot like the print of the mask/head covering Caleb had on in one of his flashbacks.
Love the audible transitions
My theory is that Dolores never achieved conciousness. This is all apart of fords new narrative from season1.
gamerman360 what about Maeve?
@@johnthom1114 I'm glad you asked. She did actually achieve conciousness by her connection to her daughter. Dolores doesn't have these connections. Or emotions.
@@gamerman360 wasn't she attached to Teddy?
@@shaglock I don't think in the same way as Maeve. She makes teddy do things he doesn't want to eventually driving him to suicide
She was attached to Arnold, Wiliam and even Ford in a way.
I think rehoboan represents my hair during this pandemic
Alt Shift X = highest quality "Explained videos"
Thank you very much All Shift X, for remembering about this stereotyped and crazy picture of the world about Brazil
Fantastic analysis as usual.
About the moment in 15:50 , I laughed because I thought he was speaking anything else, except portuguese when I was watching this episode. As a brazilian, I must say: Cassel's portuguese was far better than the guy who plays Brazil's president (and our current one, who's kinda crazy)
quer namorar comigo?
Kinda crazy? Understatement of the year
Brazil has a psycho president who can barely speak a sentence in his native tongue? Sounds like another president from the Americas.
o ator que faz o Serac falando o fino do portugues e o presidente do Brasil parecendo alguém com problema de diccção
I love how when Dolores and Serac are facing off in the hangar, Caleb is in the background opening the door ignorant of what's happening.
In Season 3, its the Humans that are ignorant of the Truth while the Hosts are the ones in the Know.
Such great quality content! Always look forward to your reviews & discussions, keep it up Alt 👍🏽
None can really be acheved without the other.
love these analysis videos!
hbo: hires a brazilian that doesn’t speak a word of portuguese the entire series and has a name in spanish
also hbo: hires a (likely) spanish speaking guy to play a brazilian
lol
Also hbo: makes sure that Serac is actually using a French azerty keyboard instead of a qwerty one.
I mean, it's so weird that they could get a detail so tiny that only I seem to have noticed it right, and that particular casting choice so obviously wrong.
Searching For Sunbeams wow i did NOT know that!!
also hbo: has a french guy that speaks Portuguese better than the actor playing the brazilian
wait who is which ethnicity what
Stephen the guy they hired to be the pres of brazil speaks port w a spanish speaking persons accent. rodrigo santoro (hector) is brazilian. im not sure i understand ur question but those were the ethnicities i think i mentioned , so hope i helped!
13:40 No no no, he's gotta be Elias. Nolan is connecting the story to his other show, Person of Interest.
Rehoboam vs the Machine, let's go!
nah
masterful review as always!!
Can we get these sooner?! Have to watch everyone else’s takes first and it’s throwin me off!
I like how you named them Charlores - Musashilores .. etc
Thank you for properly pronouncing Fauntleroy. Every other TH-cam recapped said Fontle-Roy. It drove me nuts. I am probably programmed to care too much about spelling, grammar, punctuation, and pronunciation!
"you're the only one we can't replace" (Martinlores)
"That which is real, is that which cannot be replaced" (someone in an earlier season)
It was Delores saying that as well
@@IndieJenny Bernard said that last season
Last time I was this early to his vidoe game of thrones was still good
krjokar his videos are still great, what are you on about ?
@@wifine1951 read it again, slower, imagine he used punctuation
13:55 well you nailed it on the head....
WTF 5:23, Dolores already got out of the park as "Charlores", there is no logic in using another pearl for Charlotte, so this spare one might be the key for The Forge (AKA Peter Abernathy pearl).
Awesome analysis!
This was awesome. I like the way you did this video.
