Low Fish Pond KH & How to improve it & Save ££££

- So last time my KH in the koi pond went down I made a few mistakes.
So Im back with the low KH but armed with new knowledge I have adapted my approach.
I add the sodium Bi carbonate to the the pond slower.
Also sodium bicarbonate is also know as:
Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium hydrogen carbonate. NAHCO3. Nahcolite (mineral form), E500, bread soda, cooking soda, bicarbonate of soda, sodium bicarb, bicarb soda, bicarb, saleratus.
I whisk it around and add it to the pond to hopefully increase the pond KH by 1 per day to improve the KH and stabilise the PH.
Plus a few plan for the future in the garden.

Great update as always👍😊. You’re still rocking those wife-beaters (you’ll be in Emenim’s next video with vests like that🤣😂🤣) . Definitely food for thought but beware of the negative impacts it can have on PH and the potency of Ammonia in the pond🤔. Keep up the good work👍😊

Great update mate like others have said just chuck it in I chuck mine in the skimmer let it get sucked through the filters and pushed into the pond 👍

I used to use b/s in my pond i now use KUSURI LITHAQUA for some years now ,it works out even cheaper and it stabilises kh gh and ph . Easy to use just place in sacks , i use 40kg , and refresh every spring , give it a go.

you don't need to mix it, just chuck it into your return from the nexus, dissolves almost instantly in water and just gets blasted round the pond, give it 2 hours and check pH

@@koifishjohnny yeah mate it's not like salt where it could burn if not disolved properly, to be honest I just through a cupful in every week right in the middle of the pond where the airstone is, it vanishes immidiatly and it's never bothered my koi at all, just takes awhile before you see a difference in tds and ph, so give it a couple of hours at least before checking.
I' ve got one of those blue lab guardian ph and tds monitors for 24/7 monitering, I've just started running RO about 2 months ago as had enough of algea and cloudy water as the water from the tap is super hard here and had all similar issues you were having with phosphates ect. so I just add bicarbonate myself.
I should of done the RO years ago, tds has come down from 380ppm to 150ppm, pH has dropped from 8.2 to 7.1 and there loving it, water looks like it just came out of a bottle.

Kh of 3 is fine bacteria feeds off it to produce more bacteria without Kh bacteria would die that’s why Kh may seem like it’s drop because it’s feeding the bacteria helping it form a honey comb basically also koi thrive on lower kh then high kh it’s according what the ph is aswell

Nice info Johnny 👍 going to have to scrap part of my next video now🤣😂 it's worth noting too, That although bi-carb raises pH, it also lowers it if someone has an alkalinity of 8.5 and above. I would also add that it's not such a good idea to increase KH if someone is having an ammonia spike as this in turn makes the Ammonia more toxic👍 keep up the good work buddy 💪
