Right so my Koi Fish Pond's KH level fell down to 2 drops. So I got the buffer in and apply it to the pond.
The fight against green pond water goes on and the KH being low can contribute to the algae growth especially if there is phosphate within the water.
So I test the phosphate levels with crazy results that show what is in the water that is put into the pond and also into my mouth via the tap.
The resolve algae treatment I put in wont work as the KH needs to be above 2 for the resolve to work.
The algae fight continues.

What is the KH out of your tap Johnny? If it is more than what you have in your pond, regular/weekly 10% water changes will keep your KH replenished without the need to keep using buffer up.👍
Not only that, but it will keep your Nitrate levels down and also put minerals back into the water.

Hi Johnny. Great video. Just tested my pond water in Plymouth and my tap water was 2,0 mg/l. Kh is only 3. I thought new pond syndrome was enough to worry about.

Hello Johnny, just come across your channel, been watching a few videos, I’m new to the koi world and learning myself.. I see you use NT labs test kit- I was told these are fairly good but was advised on getting the Colombo professional test kit as they are more accurate. (Please correct if I’m wrong) I’ve not had a problem with them since using. Also with Colombo professional test kit it comes with phosphate tests so you wouldn’t need to buy separate

My mate Jamie (whi knows more than me) recommended it literally 1hr after I got my new kit mate. So might join the columbo crew in the future. Maybe give it a watch(That if you already haven’t) Maybe something to look into to help or read up on

Great video Johnny try to raise the kh a bit at a time I normally raise it by maximum 1kh a day 👍
Also rather then spending a fortune on kh buffer get a bucket of bicarbonate of soda off ebay fraction of the price and its exactly the same 👍
Hi Jamie 👋 Yeah nice one mate I can see I made a mistake with that and went a bit gunhoe, but the fish are fine so thats the main thing. "Bircadonate of soda" Im on it as KH is ultra expensive mate. Is that the same stuff you can use to make home made declorinator as well? I think I remeber following one of Julians videos on this a couple of years ago?
@@koifishjohnny no bud bicarbonate of soda is the stuff for cooking I buy a 5kg bucket off ebay to raise the kh 👍 the dechlorrinater is sodium thiosalphate 👍

That kh buffer is expensive mate. I go on ebay and get 25 kg of bicarbonate of soda for 25 quid. Never raise the kh by more than 1 drop per day otherwise alkalosis can set in and kill them stone dead mate.

I only put in 4 table spoons to 7500litres to up my kh keep an eye on kh now bro if it's over 2 use the resolve it won't make a difference if you buy another bag of buffer 1.5kg should last you a good while don't dump it all in just stabalize it around 5-6 and all should be fine 😉

It don’t have to be like that it’s a eco system don’t keep messing about with it let it do it’s thing my fish are great and so is my water I don’t keep adding things to it
Add a cup of food grade bicarbonate once a week mate and that will stabilise your kh mate, see koi soldiers video. Also because your pond is very green it will take a week or two for the uv to clear it.

Just use sodium bicarbonate food grade mate u can buy it cheap in big tubs. I put half a cup in when iv cleaned my filters. Dont waste ur money on that stuff honestly 👍🐟

Where in country are you ? I'm south wales kh 1 if I'm lucky from tap but high phosphate from tap. Even 4 stage filtration doesn't bring phosphate down 😡

Won't make any difference just slow the flow rate through the uv
1 week and thats what we are on to mate, just trail and error cheers mate 😁
