The most comprehensive Webasto video out there. Everyone should watch this before installing!! There’s a lot of misinformation out there on these, but VanLife Outfitters breaks it down and gets their info directly from Webasto - And I’m pretty sure they’re certified Webasto techs too!! Thank you Zach and Josh for putting out this excellent and much needed information!!!! Keep up the great work!

The 14:55 tip of the polarity for the fuel pump no mattering, saved my anxiousness about getting it the wrong way around... Thanks heaps!!!😅🎉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤯

Just installed mine, it is working fantastic and much quieter than expected. I purchased one from overseas but ended up selling it and got your kit instead. Very happy with the very clear made-for-US-audience instructions and working with a very simple and easily reference-able wiring harness. Bluetooth with the SmarTemp 3.0 works great! Peace of mind above all with your customer service and an actual warranty is the cherry on top.

Thank you so much, I ordered one of the kits off amazon and as soon as I seen your video I cancelled that order. I will be ordering from you for sure

Very helpful video. I couldn't find anywhere that said if polarity was important on the wires coming out of the heater for the fuel pump, but you made a point of it. Thanks.

This is by far the BEST and informative video on install for gas van. I’d love for you to film another with a gas Sprinter. My 2023 sprinter will be here in May and you mentioned it’s wonkie. I will be ordering from you! 😊

Awesome! I was considering mounting my Webasto heater in this location, but wasn’t sure it would fit. So happy that I found this video. Great job!

I believe one can use the fan-only mode with the simple North American rheostat controller, but this is done by switching a pink or purple companion wire (same loom branch belonging to the controller plug) to ground.
Thanks for your video chock full of great and professional experience with these heaters. I'm installing a diesel 2K Webasto Air Top into a 5' X 10' "square drop" off road camper.

To clarify two things: "squaredrop", as in "trailer" - and the fan-only wire I was thinking of is the red wire in the controller branch in your video. Fan only will operate when this red wire is connected/switched to ground. Cheers.

Great video however your specific installation (11:43) has the cabin air inlet beside the heated air vent which is identical to the pictures in the installation manual that say DON'T do this.

Good to point out the difference from the European VS the USA ver.
I didn't realize this and was leaning towards European (not realizing the delta) and would have been pleasantly Dis-pleased ..

I have this installed and its been running fine for a year now... But, I now need to do mods on my vehicle which will alter the exhaust.
22:15 I have this installed where the exhaust pipe runs under the frame of the vehicle and then out past the body. Everything is in a downward slope, like in the video.
But, I am removing the stepping boards from the side of my vehicle, which will make the body of the car much higher. Meaning the pipe will not go under the frame, and it will have to go back up about 6" to the edge of the frame. I know I have to drill a 4mm hole at the lowest point, but will that be an issue still if it goes up about 6"?

Great video! What size fuse is required between the heater and power panel? Thank you 🙏, Nick

very helpful video! thank you. perhaps you can help a tad bit more? I have error code 7. I pulled my heater to examine the wires where they exit the shared port with combustion air supply. The insulation was pinched but not torn. I drilled it out as you recommend and massaged the wires and taped them for padding-but still get the error 7. Do I need to take the heater apart and rewire? could it be the pump?

Super video! I noticed on the wiring diagram you showed with the smart temp controller you only have a 5 amp fuse at the control panel. I’m assuming that when you have house batteries and a fuse panel you can just remove the inline fuses and use an appropriately sized one at the panel? Is that correct?

Glad the video was helpful! You can either run a branch circuit wire up to where the heater is located and then tie the various 12VDC negative and positive connections to that and keep the fusing on the wiring harnesses - we show this using a WAGO/level lock connector. In our case there is a fuse on the DC load center feeding this circuit as well so it's fused twice. Or, you could remove the fuses from the harness and simply fuse the branch circuit feeding them appropriately.

Excellent excellent video. It’s really tough sifting through all the forum crap online with European Russian heatso Obsolete version one version three Amazon blah blah.. i’m glad I read enough to have enough sense not to buy from anything other than a North American distributor. Crazy confusing

Nice video. Maybe you can help me with a question. I installed a Webasto heater in my truck camper, but it's only connected to an independent lithium battery. Do I need to ground it to the truck bed? since it's not the truck's battery just one big battery connected directly to the heater. Thanks.

@vanlifeoutfitters, thanks for the excellent video. For a Sprinter with the Webasto under the passenger seat, do you run the fuel line over the exhaust heat shield? With a search, that's what I'm seeing most people do, but it seems skeeethcy to me, especially in my gasoline Sprinter (not diesel). I got some heat shield tube for the fuel line, but it still seems like a bad ideal. Thoughts or ideas? Ordering a SmarTemp3 from you asap! Thx

Do you recommend drilling a 1/4" hole at the base of the combustion air intake of the Evo 40? It's metal, not plastic like the 2000 model.

is the truck battery involved in its operation? It can drain the battery?

    • @VanlifeOutfitters
      @VanlifeOutfitters  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Most of our customers (in camper vans or RVs) are wiring the power supply for the Webasto heater to their "house" batteries. However, you can certainly wire the power supply to your vehicle/truck starter battery. There is a low voltage disconnect feature that will turn the heater off before it completely drains the vehicle battery. If you have the SmarTemp digital controller, you can adjust the specific voltage that will trigger this.

The video said hooking into ford transit gas tank was so difficult they won't even show it. Anyone have a link to a video showing how to do it?

To my disappointment I have one of the overseas Webasto heaters, am I doomed with this thing or what? Is the quality not there? I am worried now. I wish I knew then what I know now.

You can maybe stop saying that you are a North American provider, you dont even ship in canada...
