Have one of these in my VW with a Smart controller, the one flaw with the webasto is the intake thermostat is the one used and that is almost always colder than the rest of the van especially with captain chairs. I wouldnt recommend installing this without the temp sensor in a small van or just go for the basic controller. The STC ignores the controller temp sensor so you van is melting your eyeballs or its set to 10c to get 20c. Great kit otherwise..

Question Three: On the main wire for the unit, one plug says potentiometer and the other says telestart. You said the potentiometer is for the Rheostat/dial and the telestart is for the digital multicontrol. Do you know if these plugs are interchangeable? Because the way the cable is wrapped, placement would be better to use the potentiometer wire for the digital multicontrol. Thank you

Question one: the fuses (1amp for the controller and 15amp for the heater) - on the fuse harness/plug there is a sticker that says F1 and F2. Can you tell me which fuse goes into F1 and F2?
Question two is about the two wires that come from the heater to supply power to the fuel pump, and the separate/long fuel wire with blue and brown wires - Is there a positive and negative? How do the blue or brown wires connect to the two from the heater? Are they interchangeable? Thank you

I installed this heater and I'm a bit unclear about the looms. I assume the idea of having 3 main looms as part of the overall loom is to allow to have the controller in a different position from the battery supply. I have the new digital timer but if I'm to connect it as you say here the loom is not suitable for placing the controller away from the power supply as it connection is part of that loom. The two looms that make up the main loom no longer give the options to place the controller in a more suitable location that is not near the battery. Basically I want to place the controller c.2/3 meters away from the battery. Is there some way to make this work? tks Paul

I still have a cable with an external sensor that I don't know where it is mounted. I didn't see any temperature sensor installed, how do you know when to turn it off?

The heater takes its power from direct connection to the deep cycle house battery.

After watching your video and ready to install my heater, I need to confirm the wiring loom connections. I have the new digital controller and you state that this connects to the Telestart Termocall Diagnose plug. The length of this plug is only about 600mm from the battery fuses which leaves me with little scope to position my controller. The User Interface Potentiometer lead ( for the old style controllers) has a 4 metre lead. Can you please confirm the correct lead connection. The circuit diagram doesn't help unfortunately. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Jeff, I'm afraid you'll need to contact Webasto directly to answer that. Visit www.webasto.com to contact technical support or find your nearest dealer.

The supplied harness from the heater end splits into 2 shortly after leaving the heater each branch of the harness is I think 7m. 1 branch of the harness has the power connections (Red battery + Brown battery -) and the required fuses at the end. The second branch of the harness has 3 connectors, 1 is for the standard rotary control switch pot, 2 is for the fancier digital controllers and diagnostics, 3 is a 2 pin plug for the optional room temperature sensor (fitted with a resistor "supplied in the kit" when not used).
The fuel pump is connected with a totally separate connecting lead that plugs into the wire that exits through the combustion inlet pipe. Hope this helps because the supplied diagrams are not very clear at all.

you can extend the wiring , get an extension lead for it , or use a unibox , depends on your install , you don't have an RV harness

  • @Helomaniac

there is another two wire plugin on the harness where the oval plugin connects to the heater. What is this for?

Webasto's tech specs say it runs on 12 or 24 volts. If in doubt, give them a call first!

Hi Doug, for an RV that size have a look at the Webasto Air Top Evo 55. It's the same thing, but with a max 5.5 kW of heating power compared to this one's 2.0. Try and work in a couple of ducting outlets too if you can.
