    Handlebar wearer for 3 years. My advice is: never trim wet. Or with wax. Just comb it and trim the ends dry. If you do it wet or waxed. You’ll find that you’ll cut too much. But find out for yourself if you’ll like

      I think this just varies based on your beard. I have a lot of density by my stache and if I don't wax it first it's near impossible to know how I'm trimming it. Styling first helps me a lot and I never feel like I'm trimming too much off

    Man I’m glad I found your channel.. I’ve finally been committed to a full beard with a handlebar mustache.. I’m a guy that usually likes to pull off the stubble look but sometime I would get lazy an not trim/shave for like 2 or even 3 months an my beard would start to grow long an eventually look like crap bc I didn’t know how to maintain an ect.. I’m pushing 5 months now since I last shaved my face an my mustache I would always trim my lip line but this time I haven’t but now I need to go an do some Maintenance bc my mustache is getting so long that when I drink or eat it gets in the way an I constantly comb it an carry a comb with me bc I didn’t know about the wax.. also in different video I seen your morning routine so may I ask where you get all your stuff for that an trimmers an scissors because I’m dedicated to growing this beard out.. this is the longest I’ve had it since 09 but back in 09 I kept my mustache trimmed an not long to where it will grow into a handlebar style so I’m excited.. also I have very long hair but keep it pulled back 👍🏻 thank you for your time on these videos bc I was never taught how to shave or anything lol I just did it on my own an why I would usually do stubble bc it was easy but at the same time hate having a clean shaven face

    This is the first time in my 56 yrs I've tried growing handlebars. Received a lot of advice from friends and they were all wrong. I was told to NEVER trim!!! Because I haven't, the growth in the middle is driving me nuts because it doesn't want to bend to my will/wax, I have considered giving up, until this video. Thanks!!! Will attempt to trim.

    I gave up. I fear the Barbour. Every time I go they butcher me. I say hey I want to grow the fullest beard possible just simply shape and clean the edges. I want to grow it out long and full. Boom! I get a buzz cut to my beard. I say easy on the buzzers they say it's cool I'm just doing what you asked. I've even got a freaking strap beard. I want handlebars boom freaking buzz cut. These are old barbers. Even some newer barbers they say the same thing you don't want to be no hipster. I know one thing for sure, I'm not a millennial and I'm not a hipster. Just a fat guy looking to hide his 3 chins and look good. Can you please do a video on proper Barber lingo?

      You see. I've had legitimate barbours ask if I want my beard styled or trimed over the years. When I say yeah the only one that actually got it was this run down place in Rhoad Island. Great lad, but not a lot of business. Just learned to do it myself. Ironically it just grows in like a handlebar now and the most I have to do is do a lil curl at the tip with organic gel if need be. Trust yourself and you're golden. (I do fresh shave every few months just to get a fuller stache, but only becacuse I know how my facial hair grows.) Study your face and you'll find your groove

  • @LittleFullLotaSap
    @LittleFullLotaSap 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You are fortunate that your mustache is a different shade than your beard. It really helps set it apart from the beard. My beard and stache are both rather salt and peppery so everything blends together. I trim my cheek line so that it comes down to the corners of my mouth rather than letting the beard grow up my cheeks and that helps a bit but not much. The separation trimming might help but that makes me nervous!

    • @rancherhicks
      @rancherhicks 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try dying your beard a shade darker, or the stache a shade lighter. Just for men works for me.

    • @LittleFullLotaSap
      @LittleFullLotaSap 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rancherhicks I've tried Just For Men before but unfortunately, it caused weeping sores on my chin. I'm at the stage now where I really like the white/ silver coming in and don't want to alter that, at least not permanently. I did try some trimming and it helped quite a bit. I also need to grow more of the stache out to make the handlebars thicker.

    Great advice on the mustache! I've been growing my mustache out for several times, but I always seem to be trimming it down too far to the outside of the lip. I've decide to not do that anymore and keep it short and neat. Though, your advice could help me reach the actual handlebar level. I've seen my mustache ends grow into my beard every single time as well, so I will surely try to shorten the hairs around the tips to see how that turns out. Next to that I have decided to grow out my beard to double the length, currently it's about the 4 month length. I'm growing out all of it, and a short and neat mustache just doesn't go with that to balance it out.

    I took his advice to trim the center but that was a mistake just let them grow out so eventually they will all be the same length, then trim, not before! Another reason for this is you’ll never coral the trimmed hairs and they will wreck your stash like young hairs with the old. This is hard to do and will take months but once they’re all even with no more short hairs, perfect!

    • @chrisblanc663

    Once again great Stache but you also have another advantage is the two tone color... your stache is blond while your beard is dark brown to black which is a great overhaul look man!
    Told you in another video that I was going for your look at least for the stache, we all grow beard in a different ways. I have a yeard with nearly no trim aside from a little snip of scissor here and there from time to time and I do have similar stache which is pretty cool but on the down side I am not so lucky with the color scheme. Lol never the less it’s all good.
    I really wonder how my beard would look like if I could find a proper barber and use some beard product.

      t. smith it is a good idea but I have to inform you that I do not have a proposer Barbershop where I live... may sound nuts I know but not everyone lives in U.S. or Europe... some of us happen to live in countries where you don’t find the regular stuff like you guys. Anyway not complaining, I actually like my beard color as it is, no regrets, got some salt and pepper, some reddish, some brown, it’s pretty cool actually but as oppose to Spencer mine is uniform in that colorful pallet... stache & beard...
      So I’ll keep your advise of dyeing my beard for when I reach a country where the barber shop actually have walls around his chair 😂😂😂

    I assume once you start trimming any of it, even the small hairs in centre you will always be, so would it be better to grow it all out from the start long So the small hairs don't exist and they all are long enough to style out?

    • @MegaDanielSK
      @MegaDanielSK 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. You can definitely just let it grow naturally, but I'd advice to trim the centre ones. It's a lot easier to distinguish left from right and makes the styling faster and reliable.

    After watching this, I got a better handlebar by a mile. I just let every hear grow thinking I would get that badass western stach,.. but it was so painful to eat and drink so I ended up touching the stach and forming it maybe 100 times a day.. and that kills hairs, I pulled so many and ended up with a thinner and thinner stach.. so I said goodbye to the fat stach and shaved off the hairs over my lip letting the hairs from the side of the nose grow! It made me never touch it, and it grew long, then it was easy to grow it thicker in the middle!

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hell yea bro! Growing a handlebar definitely takes some maintenance and solid trimming! I usually recommend growing the stache for 3-4 months before trying to shape it!

    I don't have such a full mustache as you, it's okay though. I don't trim the lip line, I let it grow and only cut out a fly away every now and then. If I trim it to the lip line, it looks too thin in my eyes.

    Really great advice! Im still struggling with my handlebar. I have grown it out for four months now and i cant get it to hold the shape. One day it sits perfectly, the next day its just not cooperating. My beardhair is very curly, took me some time to get the hang of it and keep a nice full and shaped beard. I got that part for over a year now, but the stache 😅 its my second time trying it now and i really dig the overall look with my full beard, but its so frustrating that it doesnt hold the shape day per day as yours. Any further advice? I really wanna keep it, so great to be one of the few brothers rocking a full beard and handlebar!

    it seems you let the hair under the nose grow more downward and trim to the lip and let the more outside hair be the longer hair; am i getting that right?

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes sir, absolutely! Then, you can pull those outer longer hairs in the desired direction while keeping the center hairs shorter and out of your mouth. It also gives the illusion that it's all one length!

    Thanks for making this video. One question... I have curly hair and the right side of my moustache always droops downwards instead of upwards after I shape it upwards with the wax. It looks fine at first but quickly ends up looking like a bird in flight with one drooping broken leg. How should I fix this problem?

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This happens to me ALL the time, you just have to train it. Over time it'll get better. Have you used a blow dryer on it? I would sit your blow dryer directly below the point of your stach facing upwards and you comb it out. You can email us at support@livebearded.com for more tips and tricks.

      First off thank y ot u for your service! We here at LB are AVID supporters of our men and women who fight for our freedoms. Secondly, yessir! Grow it all for about 3-4 months before touching it. Only line up your cheek line and neck line so it doesn't get too wild and crazy. At the end of that time, you'll be able to see your real growth patterns and be able to go for the look you desire. Also, be sure to use good all natural products to avoid damage to your skin and beard! Check out our line of products below!

      Hey brother, thanks for stopping in. Actually, Spencer has a whole series of grooming, and most are geared towards the handlebar. You can find these here in our channel or in our blog section of our website www.livebearded.com. There are tons of tips and tricks to help you in your journey brother. First step, however, is separating the mustache
      from the beard, which Spencer shows in one of his tutorials!
      Hopefully this helps point you in the right direction for mustache domination!!!

      Well, since you already have the separation there, you can try forming that handlebar and it will really make the entire setup pop a lot more! Making it look like 1 solid entity.
