Finally BuzzFeed actually including other Asians, rather than just representing Asians as only Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. As a Brit this is satisfying.
Bella Bonilla Lol sorry I should have explained... In Britain, when u say "Asian" . we usually refer to Pakistanis, bengalis, indian... but also chinese, japanese etc. Whereas in America "asians" are always pretty refered to as just the east asian, chinese. japanese, korean etc..
As a proud Indian my mom really wants me to be an Engineer, but I want to be a singer. And each time I tell her that I want to be a singer she says singers are stripers
Singing is a tough business to get into. You either make it or you don't, and not many people make it. Have something to fall back on in case you don't make it, but you can try if you want to.
Ahaha same tho. But I really do appreciate the way my mom is bringing me up because I know it’s going to help me a lot in the long run, making sure I’m focused, have my head on straight, and stay happy and successful.
My mom would say "you know when I was 13 I work hard, help my parents, go shopping groceries, get a job, have responsibility so why r u so god damn lazy huh????" I'm like wtf this is 2017 boi. And everyone's lazy. And you think I can get a job when I'm hella young? I'm in school learning while you never had the chance to even graduate so fr stop! Ahaaaaa so annoying lol
+John Lawn Oml chill out lol, I can relate this too because I'm mixed. He was just saying he is black and his mom does the same. Not that serious, and it wasn't racist to me 😃.
If this was about my Asian mom this would also include the extremely dysfunctional and dramatic/borderline- psychotic breakdown tendencies and irrational over-reactions to most things. And constant 90% off Dillard's/Macy's sales. My mom's Chinese zodiac is Tiger. Literally Tiger Mom. Love you, Mom ❤️
Mine said: “When I was your age I was one of the top 3 students!” “YOU WASTE TOO MUCH TIME COOKING” “I always have to do everything!” She still is a good mom, and I love her dearly.
I can relate too. My mom would throw away love letters, phone numbers, and Valentine's candy grams she'd find in my room while "cleaning" all through high school, but once I graduated college she started asking why I haven't made her a grandmother yet.
Some of these are so true omg 😂 they actually fit my dad more than my mum, he'd cringe at prices when we go shopping and anything simple with cost past $30 he'd be like "but it's so expensive, you sure?"
Chinese, Koreans, Japanese and Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Srilankan etc. are both collectivist cultures so they ARE VERY similar no matter what anyone says. They both have very similar values so people who are saying they shouldn't be grouped together need to the shut the hell up.
This is so sad to me. Like I don't want to be limited, I don't want to be keep locked up in a cage of do's and don'ts. Everything in my life that I have been withheld from are because of I was being held back by my parents. I wish my parents could understand this. I get that you want me to be a doctor but I want you to accept my personal choices/opinions and that's not happening, is it?
me: * want to buy sweater* my mum: "no . you already have 6 of em n we're asian, our country is hot so u dont need it . n i might put ur current sweater for donation cause u have a lot already " why tho mum 😂😂❤
The "Caucasians" shirt that's a commentary on the Cleveland Indians logo. I thought it was interesting that it's blurred. I understand why it's blurred.
It's a shirt that says "Caucasians" and it's supposed to show how disrespectful the football team the "Indians" is by putting the shoe on the other foot.
Idk what it is with Filipino mom's and nursing lol my mom still tries to force that on me... and the guilt trip for not doing the career they want for you. Gotta love em though
My mom is like hey this shirt look nice Me : *looks at price* I’m fine I don’t care (i really don’t care) Mom: buys it Me: ok Goes home Mom to my dad: look what she made me buy Me: 🤦♀️
My mom (japanese) would always tell me that I had to date someone as soon as possible bc love is the greatest thing in the world and she wants me to experience it. But at the same time she would tell me that everyone is evil and I should never trust someone so yeah thanks mom.
I'm guessing someone's mad that they're not Asian, considering your profile picture is a kpop artist lol. Stop trying to relate to us, you koreaboo, and this is coming from an Asian girl.
so because my profile pic is a korean artist that makes me a koreaboo? that fact that you know who it is puts you in the same posistion as me. also im not mad about not being asian and im not a koreaboo because im korean :) my point still stands, moms of all races say phrases like those in the video
I think it's because we refer to people from countries in the middle east as "middle eastern". It's the same reason we generally don't include russians in the definition of "asians" even when most of Russia is part of Asia.
My mom is korean and I'm thirteen. Yesterday, she just randomly asked why I didn't have a boyfriend and I was like, "because I'm thirteen?" And she was like, "so what? I had one at your age." I didn't need to know that mom, but thanks for the encouragement
Constantly offering you food.....so relatable.. or more like ordering you to eat.. always, even when you're just done eating, like, five minutes ago and you're so full..
My mom is exactly like this and she's white. She makes me go to bed at 8:30 (I'm 15), pushes me in school, makes me read at least two hours a day, doesn't let my brother or I date (he's almost 18), is really cheap, and tells me I have to have the same opinion as her in everything.
totally relate.... especially when it comes to spending money.... my mom always will say, if you want to buy something then study well until you'll have your own money to buy...or start doing work (selling goods, gardening, helping my relatives in their business, or doing things like cutting the grasses, plant and sell vegetables, do my own mini business etc.) so i'll get money from my work and my own sweat to buy or she will pay me for doing household chores and gardening stuffs well........ money for us should be worked hard for, not easily to get, and not supposed to be wasted. Also, we should focus on our education, but we're still given time to pursue hobbies, skills, talents, play, surf the net, watch tv, or play online or phone games.... my mom always tell we are more privileged than them during their time..cause we can easily get infos from the net, we have much children rights, we are having good education, we don't have to work in the rice fields to earn money to have something to eat for the day or go to school, we have vehicles, we can buy much wants than needs, we are given time for recreation and leisure, we are served with well foods, we have electricity to use, we don't run out of water, we don't need to work hard, we're just doing simple household chores and yet we're complaining, we are eating 3 to 5 times a day (including snacks), we are privileged to choose what we want to pursue even they like seemingly want us to be accountant, lawyer, doctor, chef, etc. My parents' lives are so less compared to that of us, and I'm open to this discipline and moral lessons since young, so I grew up really studying and not learning to rebel my family.... we are also having close family ties, I have a lot of cousins, lot of aunts and uncles to show respect, lot of grandmas and grandpas on both clans, and a lot of parents' friends who we also call aunts and uncles that we need to notice, but sometimes we don't....... that's just an overview of my Asian Family.................. Filipino here. :D born with the traditions of Filipino and Spanish people (my dad's side were descendants of mestizos who were descendants of pure Spanish people), influenced by traditions of Chinese, Malay, Japanese, and American who historically traded and or colonized us. But after all I am really loved by my mom and dad who were keeping on doing work and sacrifices for our family. We still have time to talk, to bond, to spend time together, to eat together, to watch tv, to go to the mall, etc. As an Asian, I really value my family ...... and I think this tradition will continue on, especially right now, were parents are more open and understandable/ not super strict. :D just sharing.
Mines said " if you go to sleep with wet hair, you'll wake up with a headache "

As a Brit this is satisfying.
why do you mean as a Brit?

Bella Bonilla Lol sorry I should have explained... In Britain, when u say "Asian" . we usually refer to Pakistanis, bengalis, indian... but also chinese, japanese etc.

Yesss as an Indian, I'm super glad as well. :)
As a proud Indian my mom really wants me to be an Engineer, but I want to be a singer. And each time I tell her that I want to be a singer she says singers are stripers
lmao wtf
although I still support you if you had a singing career, you need to have a back up plan
Strippers*
Singing is a tough business to get into. You either make it or you don't, and not many people make it. Have something to fall back on in case you don't make it, but you can try if you want to.

Anyone wondering what is behind that blur of that guys shirt??
yes
The t-shirt says caucasians and looks like the logo of the cleveland indians
ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/bomani-jones-wore-a-cleveland-caucasians-t-shirt-on-espn
+West Side Maria I think they just can't advertise brands
It says "Caucasian " with a little white guy on the bottom

She still is a good mom, and I love her dearly.
I can relate too. My mom would throw away love letters, phone numbers, and Valentine's candy grams she'd find in my room while "cleaning" all through high school, but once I graduated college she started asking why I haven't made her a grandmother yet.
OMG!!!! The part where they say 'be a doctor or nurse' is sooooo true!
My mom always believes in old wives tales
"don't sit in the doorway! you'll be an old maid, and shamed our family!!"
same
I consider jc Penney clothes to be nice and expensive?
But they have sales on everything and they let you use tons of coupons
jcpenny is NOT expensive LOL
Lol i consider nordstoms and neiman marcus to be nice and expensive
I don't speak BROKE
+notenoughsparkle neiman marcus is expensive, it sells luxury brand clothes...
If you grew up with Nigerian parents, you can relate to some of this especially the career paths.
My mom is Filipino and my dad is African American.
+John Lawn Yeah good for me
yooo!! I'm half filipino through my mom's side too!
So is your mom not American?
Ayeee! Mix Twinsies!!
I know someone just like you and they prefer to be called Blasian (black & Asian)😂
No, they shouldn't. There are nuances that haven't occurred to you
when you're not Asian but you relate
This is so sad to me. Like I don't want to be limited, I don't want to be keep locked up in a cage of do's and don'ts. Everything in my life that I have been withheld from are because of I was being held back by my parents. I wish my parents could understand this. I get that you want me to be a doctor but I want you to accept my personal choices/opinions and that's not happening, is it?

Youre pretty
The "Haa?" part is so true! I remember one time when I begged my mom for a favor but she ends up interpreting that I'm talking back to her word.
Me:
A+: *pats shoulder* good job
A: WHERE IS THE PLUS?!
A-: WHAT HAVE I RAISED
B...: GET OUT OF MY HOUSEHOLD
Haha, my mom is exactly like this, I love her though. The whole clothes thing, I would just get hand-me-downs, I loved them though XD
me: * want to buy sweater*
my mum: "no . you already have 6 of em n we're asian, our country is hot so u dont need it . n i might put ur current sweater for donation cause u have a lot already "
why tho mum 😂😂❤
relatable. Just from having one Asian parent, I can relate to ALL OF THESE.
I'm only in middle school and I can relate to these adults and their experiences in high school and college..
Asian mom's do say......
Mom : Why you no doctor yet ?
Why was Chris' shirt blurred?
copyright stuff
I think it was because the shirt could be considered offensive
It says Caucasians and there's a white guy (it's a play on th Cleveland Indians logo look it up)
Whats blurred on the guys shirt
Thinks it's a cardinals logo
Caucasians, the parody Cleveland Indians shirt.
+Augustus Waiters it's just the st.louis baseball team logo lol?
The "Caucasians" shirt that's a commentary on the Cleveland Indians logo. I thought it was interesting that it's blurred. I understand why it's blurred.
+Alistair Harris Ooooookaaaaayyyyyyy...
I'm from a Caribbean family but I can relate so much to this!
"Constantly offering you food"
I think I inherited that virtue.....
Why is his shirt blurred, though?
It's a shirt that says "Caucasians" and it's supposed to show how disrespectful the football team the "Indians" is by putting the shoe on the other foot.
+Marika Hageman so why block it?
+Anonymous Killer Destroyer, because people would get angry and completely derail the video
Im from Pakistan, and i can relate to each And everything they said
Well you know that you're an Asian too right?
Any Blasians in the house?
Black , Korean, and Japanese
What are you?
I'm mixed with Black and White 😀
Middle Eastern-Asian
+John Lawn same
I'm Korean!!😆
+Sherri Ragoi you mixed race!
Idk what it is with Filipino mom's and nursing lol my mom still tries to force that on me... and the guilt trip for not doing the career they want for you. Gotta love em though
So many of these things are so relatable!! 😂

Well I'm a quarter black? Does that count 😂😏
Black and Japanese!
Thai and italian
Caucasian and Japanese!
I am! I'm half Taiwanese half European descent.
My mom is like hey this shirt look nice

My mom (japanese) would always tell me that I had to date someone as soon as possible bc love is the greatest thing in the world and she wants me to experience it. But at the same time she would tell me that everyone is evil and I should never trust someone so yeah thanks mom.
"Constantly offering you food." So like my mom. ♡
Can you make a video of people whose parents ruined their lives? I cannot relate to these happy kids.
PolemiGames Amen
who wants them 2 do Latina moms?! 😂
None of the things they said are asian mom exclusive. this would be the same exact video if they called it "things our moms would say"
+Bennett Sin She said she's asian jfc
+Caty ਕਿਟੀ yes and?
+Actual Trash are you that easily offended?
@ the beginning OMG SAME!!!! MY FILIPINO MOM'S LIKE 'YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DATE UNTIL YOU'RE 30!!!!!!!'
My mom was always saying "Ok, buy that...just get the coupons!"
i have challenge for you! count the amount of Nguyens in the comment section
too much to count and counting
go viets! :P
1
Sólveig Kristín lies
Well.. I'm one of them xD It's a common last name.
why you never put arab in your asian video? it's still in asia you know
Arabians are just a just a theory, more so a concept. They haven't been manifested into a real thing
Maybe they didn't have one who had the time to be in the video
+ethan vu what??
Right?? I'm Iraqi and I always feel super excluded
I think it's because we refer to people from countries in the middle east as "middle eastern". It's the same reason we generally don't include russians in the definition of "asians" even when most of Russia is part of Asia.
can u guys do things black moms say?
I found it
MY MOM IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING ON THIS VIDEO. I RELATE 100%
My mom is korean and I'm thirteen. Yesterday, she just randomly asked why I didn't have a boyfriend and I was like, "because I'm thirteen?" And she was like, "so what? I had one at your age."
I didn't need to know that mom, but thanks for the encouragement
too all my Asian people... thank God I'm not the only one!!!
Kevin is the absolute cutest! More kevin pls
Constantly offering you food.....so relatable.. or more like ordering you to eat.. always, even when you're just done eating, like, five minutes ago and you're so full..
im from Maldives and i can relate to this so much
My mom is Filipino but she is so chill about stuff like this.
My mom used be like that, until things got real and gave up. And now, she's a cool chill funny smart kind of mom.
My mom is exactly like this and she's white. She makes me go to bed at 8:30 (I'm 15), pushes me in school, makes me read at least two hours a day, doesn't let my brother or I date (he's almost 18), is really cheap, and tells me I have to have the same opinion as her in everything.
When you are talking about Games.....Your mom telling a lesson about life and school
totally relate.... especially when it comes to spending money.... my mom always will say, if you want to buy something then study well until you'll have your own money to buy...or start doing work (selling goods, gardening, helping my relatives in their business, or doing things like cutting the grasses, plant and sell vegetables, do my own mini business etc.) so i'll get money from my work and my own sweat to buy or she will pay me for doing household chores and gardening stuffs well........ money for us should be worked hard for, not easily to get, and not supposed to be wasted. Awesome vid. Love is universal💕💕💕💕
Most thing I can and they could relate the most is Asian parents being so strict about dating and focusing in school instead of dating...
'are you sure you dont wanna be a nurse' gURL RELATABLE sO so SO RELATABLE
Why were the words blurred out at 1:47
"Har?" The best word to describe when you want people to say it again.
0:52 why is the shirt blurred
Asian moms are just super caring
My mom legit wakes me up every morning yelling into the phone.
“you have a shirt just like that why would u ever spend more money on that” LITERALLY MY MOTHER EVERY TIME I GO SHOPPING
why do the recent buzzed videos cut off so abruptly lol...
The beginning of the description,I want to be a pharmacist lol
"What have I done in my past life to deserve this"- literally my mom all the time
My momma wants me to be a Lawyer! Hell nah! Ima be a fashion designer or a doctor!
"Are you sure you don't want to be a nurse?" XD i can relate
I'm an English major, and my mom always "asks" me to go to law school...I have no plans to be a lawyer. AT ALL.
All the things they said is so true! My mom always say that...
