    Additional tip for managing higher difficulties: Turn off debris. I was seriously struggling when I moved from hard to expert because I couldn't react fast enough when blocks came in a cluster. Tried turning that off & suddenly I was getting through songs I'd previously failed on every time, & hitting way better scores. It only gives you an extra split second or so to react to what's coming next, but that can make a world of difference.

    Hello Gamers, *Gamer Salute*, heres a little tip on how to get goodder score per slice from your swings from a PC top 200. You can earn a total of 115 points in one swing. The first 100 come from having a starting swing angle of 100° or more. To achieve this, you want your sabers pointing almost straigt up, but tilted toward you a little bit (like this -> / ). Your next 5 points come from the distance from the middle. The zoning for the exact center to hit is unknown currently, but as you put more time into it you will eventually start being more and more accurate. The last 10 points come from having an ending angle of 30° or more from the block. To meet this goal, you want to follow through completely, but not so much as to where you are unable to hit the next note. As a final note I will restate what the man in the video said as wrist movement is key, but you dont want to violently torque your wrist to the point of destruction, as that will most likely lead to loss of tracking. Finally, dont neglect arm movement. Most of your points will come from wrist movement, but arm movement is key to positioning your saver to hit the next block. This is Savage, and I thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

    • @uven101
      @uven101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Cameron Whittaker-Stelfox they mean you need to keep swinging in that direction.
      so as an example lets say there is a down arrow you want to swing at an angle of 100° before you hit the block. and then when you hit it you want to swing another 30° downward after you hit the block.
      i hope this helps

    @xchronox0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    On the stepping back subject: It does not matter how far forward or how far back you stand on the platform when it comes to the blocks. You can pause the game and move forward and back to see this, the blocks will move with you. It's all down to timing.

    I discovered most of these myself before this video, but I can say that these are definitely great tips. I've beaten about 15 levels on Expert+ so far, some on 150% speed, all because of these tips. Things like slowing down the song to practice a certain part, adjusting your setup, etc make a huge impact. If you're a new player, what I recommend is to just keep practicing and you will improve no matter what song, difficulty, mode, etc you play. Mix in these tips along with practicing regularly and you'll be doing Expert in no time. I have about 25 hours of playtime and by just practicing I'm now able to do Expert+.

    I was never planning to be so good at the game that I would do Expert+ levels with disappearing arrows and fast songs (I just got the game yesterday), but it's good that the game offers an escalating curve of difficulty. I have another tip that I have yet to see anybody on TH-cam touch on or point out. Well for me I have noticed a drastic change in my scores and completing songs by removing the HUD. I feel that removing the HUD allows you to focus more on getting good cuts and anticipating future cuts while also not getting as stressed out over messing up combos and seeing your battery drop. It is also more visually pleasing in my opinion.

  • @SayuriYaki
    @SayuriYaki 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Additional tips:
    1 Don't be too frustrated if you didn't perform as good as you are used to. There might be a few bad sessions but after them you will suddenly hit new scores. (Must remind myself often of this.)
    2 Have fun in the challenge und train what you cannot achieve yet. Training at your current level makes you better but training much harder songs makes you seriously level up in huge steps.
    3 Play it loud enough so you can feel the urge to dance and your mind concentrates only on the song and not on your cat watching netflix on the couch.
    4 Don't overthink it, a game is supposed to be fun. The better the feeling is in which you leave the game, the better the chances are you will play it again soon and automatically get better over time. :)

    seeing footage of your gameplay is mind blowing. And then it looks like you even cranked up the original speed...
    Thank you for the awesome tips!!
    What I was always wondering is thinking about what gives you the best learning experience. Let's say there is a part of a song I keep struggling with. An old (instrument) teacher of mine told me, to never stop at an error so the brain doesn't memorize this moment as a problem. Always continue and practice the music sheet as a whole in one's individual pacing - preferably slow in the beginning. But I guess there's nothing wrong with practicing certain passages individually for the best result.
    Anyways if someone's got a tip on how to best approach this topic , I'd love to hear about it.

    • @PSVRUNDERGROUND
      @PSVRUNDERGROUND 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You do want to play the whole song of course, but if you don't play those pain points slower than you'll fail every single time you reach them. There are definitely parts where you brain will just want to do the wrong thing, and that's how I overcame them. The reason I skip to them is because I wasted so much time getting to them and failing vs starting right there, it will just save you time and frustration then after that go start to the beginning. Hope that helps! Thanks for the feedback!

      Hey!
      Even though i'm a pc player and just stumbled across this video in my recommended and decided to look out of interest, i'm actually in the top 1000 global so I can say how me and alot of people like to do it, everyone had their own way of course but for me I like to play a song with no fail to check it out if I know its very hard just to get a grip of what to expect in the map.
      Second after this ill play the map normally with no mods and if I fail somewhere I think as to why I failed and whether it was a shitmiss (me missing purely out of a mistake and not because I cant do it) or is hard, when I find a bit that I know ill keep failing on ill put it in practice mode as slow as I need it to recognize the pattern and will play it incrementally increasing the speed 5% at a time.
      I try to make sure I can pass once and then repeat it till I can consistently do it and then throw it into normal mode again and repeat this process of finding bits that are too hard and then learning the pattern and playing through it fine.
      As far as base maps go since its on playstation and you dont have mods this wont be too big of a deal for the most part but its a good habit to get into as you improve and eventually youll be passing default songs with Faster speed and Ghost notes with no problems at all.
      Hope this helps a bit and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

    great video thx for making it, cant wait to jump in and try some of the tips here (practice mode - had no idea i could start at anytime in the song and lower the speed to learn it) i would just play the same song over and over to learn without changing difficulties cuz it would change the notes. Been having a hard time making progress above expert, feel like disappearing arrows rly will help me with things im struggling with thx again

    So I played about 5 weeks now (3 wks PSVR, 2 wks oculus rift S now back to PSVR as I'm waiting for the quest 2 to arrive), and I got about 80% of the expert + done with OST on PSVR, and over 100+ songs in expert + with the custom songs.
    And here's a list of my tips:
    1. if you can't beat a song, try one difficulty higher, turn off the 'fail' settings and go thru the whole song, then you come back to the lower difficulty you'll find it much easier - as a matter of fact, some of the songs I initially can't beat expert so I went to expert + and actually beat e+ then never came back to finish e :D
    2. relax, relax, relax - never pay too much attention, you eyes should NOT focus - this is contrary to many tips out there but I also do amateur boxing and muay thai - and we learnt that if you focus your eyesight it's harder to tell the movements. Also relax your wrist and shoulders, let gravity do the job, use the momentum, never force your way up or down
    3. draw straight lines, not circles - this increases your score and also will make you move faster (well straight line is the shortest between points)
    4. enjoy it, do not force yourself to beat one song - if you can't do it, do other songs; if you ran out of songs you can beat, well perfect the ones you already beat - turn your B into A, and turn your A into SS. Then you come back to try that single song you can't beat yet - and you'll suddenly find that you could just do it!
    5. do not slow down time and practice - it's virtually useless. instead, use practice mode and skip to the part you can't beat, turn off fail, go thru it, then restart until you get used to it. The point is, you don't want to memorize the sequence, instead you want your arms to have muscle memory so you get used to certain movements and then it's easy for you to execute it.

    • @mc8334
      @mc8334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you.
      Practicing a song at a slower pace also helped me the least. It's just not the same as normal speed (or faster), and it's also very boring. I rarely look at a part that I don't understand. Otherwise I practice until I see it at some point. And if I have to repeat it a thousand times. Not the fastest way (if you are me), but I'm in no hurry either.

    Great tips Godcannon! What is the reason behind stepping back from the footsteps?
    I've played with several camera setups and found that having the camera sitting on top of my TV (set up on an entertainment unit) seems to track best. I have had the camera up high mounted on top of a picture frame and looking down, but for some reason found that my left saber started wandering and really buggered up the tracking. I will say in defense of the PSVR, I do have a huge photo situated behind me (maybe 3-4 meters from the camera) which causes reflections and may interfere with the tracking.

    • @PSVRUNDERGROUND
      @PSVRUNDERGROUND 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Matt! That's one of the most common problems I hear is with the left saber. You really just have to try something new. Whether it be the picture, turning lights off (or even on!), covering a window, opening a curtain, standing close or far etc. When in changed psvr rooms I ran into so many issues, and trying different things is what eventually fixed it. Thanks for the feedback!

    My issue is when I swing bigger (before the block and follow through after for higher score) my motion controller ends up going out of sight for a fraction of a second and I get a tracking delay or floating saber for a few blocks. This mostly happens with overhead blocks. I have to bring the controller up over my shoulder and the butt of the controller faces the camera and "hides" the actual light orb.... thing. I verified this in the camera. I've adjusted my swing for the most part but Expert+ levels are too fast for me to swing funky before the next block. Any tips for getting big swings and adequate tracking?

    • @PSVRUNDERGROUND
      @PSVRUNDERGROUND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a little more sensitive for beat saber. I try and have the camera up and tilted down. Also sometimes the room is TOO dark, and have to turn on some lights for better tracking. The more free space behind you the better, and no objects that are blue or reflect Ny similar colors as the moves. Other than that, make sure TV is off. Can try those and let me know, hope it helps!

    If the colours in a music pack or level are too vibrant and distracting, use a custom set of colours. I use red and black and it works great. However, avoid using white as it is REALLY distracting. You may not realize it at first. But if you are failing at any level, try it. Another good tip is to turn off debris, it can be very distracting and will get in your way. And a final tip, if your tracking sometimes goes out, turn off any lights in the background. Bright lights can throw off PSVR tracking.

    I know this video is very old, but I have another tip to shout into the void (or maybe to the person reading this)
    If you REALLY can't finish a level, and are starting to get very frustrated; try a different one. Frustration will probably make you play worse, and if you feel like you are getting worse each time; its either frustration or exhaustion. I know from experience, and have ragequit quite a few times because I just couldn't stop throwing myself at a level. Eventually though, I managed to (with an ungodly amount of practice,) start finishing expert+
    Also I'm looking for an opportunity to brag about the stuff I've done so probably stop reading now lol.
    Just finished all of OST vol 2 on expert+
    Finished final-boss chan on expert (not expert+ ofc)
    Finished magic, kda pop stars, and one hope on expert+
