GW was the only games that I've ever actually used peashooter a whole lot, I think I liked PVZ 2's peashooter the best design wise though, liked the animation.

@@beaniegaming69 that's a lot of dark lore for a tower defense game.
I personally always saw the base peashooter in the GW games as actually the repeater.
Angrier eyebrows, more advanced multi-leaf foliage on the back of the head, overall darker color pallette, etcetera. The BFN redesign however is a true peashooter.

@@fimgibbons9077 there's also the fact that it upgrades into gatling like repeater can, when normal pea never can.
Honestly really strange and kind of a big missed opportunity to me that there isn't a variant that just straight up turns the Pea Canon into a burst fire and makes it *literally* a Repeater or Gatling Pea. Firing a short string of peas that are smaller and combine for a total of higher DPS if you can land them all.
Like 25% of the plants in PVZ in general are just variant of the pea shooter so the fact that most of them in garden warfare are completely original kind of sucks. The only one that's definitely obviously based on something is Ice Pea on Snow Pea. Fire Pea could be based on The Flame Peashooter from Adventures, but the designs aren't really the same and it could just as easily just be a generic elemental variant.
Imagine a Threepeater variant that shoots a close range shotgun spread though.
A Shadow Pea with piercing rounds due to the laser
A Primal Pea with knockback
Etc
My theory as how Peashooters shoot their peas.
Step 1:
The inflating substance is made in the leaves.
Step 2:
The substance is transported through the stem to the mouth.
Step 3:
The Peashooter inflates the substance.
Step 4:
It shoots the "pea".

In PVZ3's betas, the Peashooter actually looks different than PVZ3's cover art.
BFN's peashooter is pretty good, but a problem I have with it is the eyes, doesn't sit well with me
I prefer the gardenwarfare desigh, compared to bfn it feels less human and more alien, which is good thing sense there.. Yknow PLANTS
No matter how ugly the designs are, I’ll always appreciate the fact they didn’t use the original Garden Warfare concept art design, *that’s something you’d see in hell*

Plants vs. Zombies 1 still is the video game with the one best visual design in terms of communicating gameplay, and the EA game with the absolute best Artstyle. Tbh, I really wished PvZ 2 and ongoing titles just used the exact same artstyle and design philosophy as the first game, as it is fantastic.

Design philosophy I agree with, artstyle I disagree with. I think PvZ2 did a good job at evolving 1's artstyle. However I can't really say the same for 3

PVZ2 had the best art style
The BFN peashooter looks pretty ugly compared to the GW one
Not as ugly or nightmarish as the og Gw early concept art

In fact Peashooter is one of the most iconic plants in pvz
its literally the franchises face
Favorite for me is the PVZ heroes design.
I'm pretty sure that, if you look closely, you can see PvZ2's Peashooter is the same as the first game (in proportions), but now it's looking slightly sideways to the camera because the head is titled downwards.

TBH.....peashooter in GW 1 n 2 kinda looks like Repeater instead of peashooter.., like the determine face the gatling pea ability, i think the reason why they call it peashooter is so that is can fit to the team, with a chomper,cactus,sunflower, maybe they just want the name to be simple so the new players can now what the character can do.

This just me but the peashooter looks like the Snowths from the Muppets. Its just the head that has the pointy snout with the mouth hole.

BFN’s art style is like the best other than gw2. I love gw2 but the art style not so much. It was more of cartoony than the darkish in the character design which is not balanced we either go full cartoony or realism since it is a chaotic shooter after all so I did go with BFN’s cartoony version

Basically. Make it blend with who they are and what personality you gave them, and keep that premise if you want to redesign them.

Making a character or style more cartoony does not make it exclusively for kids and I find that statement almost insulting
I merely stated that the shift towards that cartoonish art style was representative of the series shifting its target demographic, I'm not suggesting that in general this is the case. I apologise for the miss understanding.
