Buying cheap inevitably leads to products that don't really last over time. I bought this circular saw second-hand and the diode only produced a weak reddish beam.
Fortunately, it's quite simple to replace it.
As you can see in the video, I took the opportunity to make a more efficient product than the original one with the drawback that this one has a larger diameter.
I had to modify the support a little but the result is a green laser display instead of red, knowing that green is more sensitive to your eye with the same power.
In addition, it now turns on with 3 batteries instead of 2 but don't worry, half the batteries are provided in the kit.
The potential downside is that the switch for turning it on is really inside the casing and a bit difficult to reach with gloves.
Time will tell if this tracing laser diode will last longer.
It hardly heats up and there's a small electronics inside that I suggest protecting from dust if you put it on a tool.
The position and sharpness of the beam can be adjusted with the ring at the front which you should also think about securing with tape as it could come loose with your tool's vibrations.
For the price, I think it's a useful purchase to save time and precision in your cuts or drillings.
