    TIJ is really a very convenient gateway into Southern California, using the Cross Border Express (CBX) bridge. From the U.S. terminal, I can take a shuttle, a taxi, or call for an Uber/Lyft.
    I like to take the shuttle to the Amtrak Santa Fe train station, and take the coastal train to Los Angeles (where I have friends and family). Union Station in downtown L.A. is beautiful, and is connected to the city’s light rail system.

    Wow even down to the old abandoned Aero California (JR) DC 9 s on touch down to the right. I remember as a kid we’d fly AM out of Tijuana on their DC 10s and there was only 4 gates and their DC 10 apron would align up alongside the building vertically

    Absolutely fascinating video this. So basically the whole final approach is over US territory and only the last bit as of 400ft is over Mexico. By the way, is that the border crossing between US and Mexico at 07:29 on your righthand side?

    How was dealing with getting clearance to fly into US airspace? How often do flights use this approach? Great video!

    • @RobT_Cockpit_videos
      @RobT_Cockpit_videos  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Tijuana air traffic control is the one who coordinates with SOCAL air traffic control for this procedure, pilots don't need to get any special clearance or something like that. This aproach is not used very often, i would say it happens 30 days in a year, especially on winter.

    I live in Texas, it's actually much cheaper to take a bus to a border town in Mexico, then from there fly round trip to TJ than to fly from a city here in Texas directly to SD then head south

    • @Aviator738
      @Aviator738 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can clearly say this is real if you look to reflections, ground details, buildings, trees, grasses, planes, sounds and all the details! If it was a simulator or a game, it would be fully clear and sharp. Because they are computer generated. But in real life, not everything is clear and sharp ( i mean, sharpness depends on the camera's focus. )

      @@anonymoususer3012 I'm glad you wrote this because you're right, at certain angles too there's some reflection msfs can't reproduce. I think the fact that theres a lot of relatively flat terrain makes it look almost like it's a sim. I dunno. With modern graphics etc, the line between reality and virtual has become somewhat unclear!
