Jay/Amber, she's one of the earliest female rockers to sing AND play an instrument(bass). Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads learned to play bass watching Suzi's videos. You'll love Suzi's "If You Can't Give Me Love", "Rock Hard" and "Stumblin' In"(duet with Chris Norman)
Suzi Quatro was huge in Europe but never here in the US. She's best remembered here for that one song duet in 1978,79 with Chris Norman called "Stumblin in" and playing Leather Tuskadero on Happy Days 😁
I've been waiting a long time for this! Suzi set the standard for the others to follow. She was born and raised in Detroit and ironically, was never a major rock star here in the US, but was huge all over the world. Funny you say she reminds you a bit of Janis because they tried to make her the new Janis after Janis passed, but it did not work out, so they just Suzi be Suzi. The one thing I'm surprised you did not pick up on is that Suzi is the BASS player here! Her (now ex) husband is the lead guitarist. I highly recommend Devil Gate Drive and the only hit she had in the US, "Stumblin' In", a pop duet with singer Chris Norman. Also, there are compilation videos of her when she appeared on the 1970s sitcom, "Happy Days" as Leather Tuscadero. Suzi has moved on to TV, Film and theater over the years, playing the lead in Annie Get Your Gun on the London stage, as well as Tallulah Bankhead, which she wrote and produced. There is a great documentary on her from 2019 called "Suzi Q" that I recommend anyone see. If you have a library card, see if your library has the streaming video service called "Kanopy" because it is on here for free. You won't regret it. Suzi is still going strong at 71, putting out new music.
YES! Suzi Quatro! One of Detroit's most precious musical exports. She provided some of the glam rock's era most infectious hits- "48 Crash", "Devil Gate Drive", "Shine My Machine", "Official Suburbian (yes, that's how they spelled it) Superman", "Glycerine Queen", her covers of "I Wanna Be Your Man" by The Beatles and "Shakin' All Over" by Johnny Kidd. Irresistible stuff.
I saw Suzi Q live back in November 2019 and she's still got it! My friend and I must have been the _LOUDEST_ people in the arena when we screamed the *"LOOOO-OVE"* part in "If You Can't Give Me Love" near the end of the concert... when it was over, 2 people sat behind us said _"you guys are awesome!"_ 🤣 Such great times!! 😊
My idol! I love her every song. From Wild One Devil Gate Drive to her version of Desparado and the song she sings as a dedication to Elvis Singing With Angels. So many hits she is the Queen of Rock in my eyes
Now we're talking ! Suzi IS the queen of rock ! And she's still rocking...Suzi was the first female to enter the male dominated world of glam rock in the early 70s and this was her first hit in 1973...quick edit - forgot to say the next Suzi Quatro song you should react to is "The Wild One" a huge hit for her in 1974,as it was a huge year for glam rock with artists like Suzi,The Glitter Band,Mud,Alvin Stardust,Sweet,Slade, Rubettes,Bay City Rollers,Elton John,Barry Blue,Alice Cooper the list goes on
I fell in love with Suzu Quatro when I was about 10. I had never heard her music, but she played the roll of Leather Tuscadaro, in Happy Days. The only other person on the show who was as cool as The Fonz! She had 7 appearances on the classic sitcom, and was even offered her own spinoff show by Gary Marshall, the producer. She turned it down because she didn't want to be typecast and wanted to concentrate on her music career.
Suzy Quatro was one of my earliest rock crushes in the 70s. But for the coolest of rock ladies, please react to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Either "Back on the Chain Gang" Live at Radio 2 in Hyde Park 2014, or even better, performing with Neil Young "My City Was Gone" live at the 2005 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony - an absolute banger.
Quatro was from the US but only had major success outside the US, so she based herself in the UK She only had one #1 in the US and that was a duet (with Chris Norman of the band "Smokie") A lot of her hits, like Can the Can were written by an Australian Mike Chapman (but credited to Mike Chapman, Nicky Chinn (Chinn did the business side of the partnership)) Later Chapman wrote either solo, or with other people and he also produced albums such as Blondie's breakthrough album "Parallel Lines" Champman's other hits for Quatro were "48 Crash", "Devil Gate Drive", and he wrote the duet (I mentioned above) "Stumblin In"
Suzi was an amazing trail blazer for women in rock. She had some great songs that are well worth listening to. My absolute favorite song of hers is actually a duet she did with Chris Norman called Stumblin' In. It's not her usual song, but it's a great listen. The two of them together had a wonderful chemistry together. Another song you really need to hear is Cat Size. Weird title because it sounds like it should be Cat's Eye, but Suzi was playing with words a bit when she wrote the song. It's a great ballad, though, that really shows off her voice. Other songs of hers you should check out are: Devil Gate Drive 48 Crash Tear Me Apart She's in Love with You Wiser Than You Two Miles Out of Georgia I'll Walk Through the Fire with You
Quatro had a direct influence on the Runaways and Joan Jett as well as Girlschool and Chrissie Hynde.Musician Kathy Valentine, best known for her work as bass player for The Go-Go's, cited Quatro as a major influence in her 2020 autobiography All I Ever Wanted.
Thank you for featuring a woman way ahead of her time. Love Suzi, with her low-hung bass guitar, high heels and leather pants. She did a great duet with Chris Norman, if you ever want a sweet, adorable duet.
"Devil Gate Drive" 1974 "If You Can't Give Me Love" 1978 "She's In Love With You" 1979 "48 Crash" 1973 "Stumblin In" 1978.....Other songs from Suzi (The last one was a duet she did with Chris Norman, who was lead singer with the group "Smokey"
It's great that Suzi is still rockin, such a nice and funny person too. In one interview in recent years she she commented on how in the 70's she helped so many teenage boys through puberty.
When she was coming up in the music world, the record business didn't know what to do with a female rocker, and he record company really screwed things up. Her real rocker persona was kind of undermined by two things: (1) being on Happy Days as Leather Tuscadero didn't help her with fans of the much harder rock she actually played in live concerts, and (2) the record company softened her image, assuming that the public didn't want a badass rocker babe rock star. Ooh, they were SO wrong. Go online to see stills of her in the 70s and you're gonna understand the massive crush I had.
I am going to have to re-check the B Sides of the singles, even though I have them I cannot remember them ! Chinn/Chapman tended to write disposable pop (very successfully), and between their artists + mickie mosts signed ones had the number one spot sown up pretty much. (Mud, Quatro, some of the other RAK artists, Sweet)
There is another singer like her, the name of that group was "Transvision vamp". Two of the best songs were. "Baby, I don't care" and "I want your love". The singer's name was Wendy James.
Now there's a blast from the past, Legendary Suzi Quatro, other great songs of here's are If you can't give me love Devil Gate Drive All awesome rock songs.😎🎸👌
Suzi was huge in Australia and the UK, but was overlooked in the US... Her early albums were brilliant, serious Rock and Roll... She IS the original 'Rock Chick' ... I can't believe she's not in the R&R Hall of Fame... Listen to "The Wild One" next...
I think it's down to Radio Stations in the US being so Genre specific. I mean, I like most music (except Gutter Rap) so if mainly I'm into Reggae it's unlikely I'll hear a Status Quo or Slade song on the channel I'm tuned into. A lot of Americans are quite shocked when they learn that Quiet Riot basically copied Slade note for note. (I'm sure Noddy & Lea don't mind as they get Royalties) and actually prefer Slades original version. It's nigh on unbelievable they've only heard 🅾🅽🅴 Status Quo song (Pictures of Matchstick Men) - Their minds will probably blow a fuse if they youtubed Quo at Wacken. th-cam.com/video/U5rBZqwItlE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for bringing Suzi into the mix. First time I've heard this song, but I know it was a legendary hit in Europe. Love her sixties and seventies stuff.
YAY! Finally - Suzi Quatro!!! Y'all have hit it out of the park with your fierce femles this Friday! I LOVE Suzi Quatro! Was first introduced to her when she played Leather Tuscadero on "Happy Days" & then got into her music. She is the godmother of grrrl punk (imho). Some of her other songs I suggest y'all check out include "Stumblin' In" (a little softer than this one), "The Wild One", "Lipstick", "Rolling Stone", "Roxy Roller", "Devil Gate Drive", "Heart of Stone", "If You Can't Give Me Love", "Rock Hard"...there's just too many to choose from! She is PHENOMENAL!!!
Man….fell deep in love with her after seeing a live performance on one of those late night rock concert shows back n the early ‘70s. I’m thinking it was Don Kirshner’s show. She was absolutely electrifying! Here was this tiny, beautiful little fierce woman, sexy as all hell in a tight jumpsuit, just completely bringing it…I was probably 13 at the time, and I just flipped! Amazing!
YEAH !!! Now we are reaching back for some real early rocker chick sounds ! My favourite is "Devil's Gate Drive" (love the way it starts out) and "48 Crash"
Suzi Quatro was in two all-female bands as a teenager The Pleasure Seekers and Cradle. Her older sister Patti Quatro was in both bands & later joined Fanny. She played lead guitar on "Butter Boy" which you reacted to a few weeks back. More Fanny please.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee Yes. At the time Suzi's first album came out in 1973, I frankly still didn't know about Carole. At the time, it was a big deal for a woman to play even an electric guitar, much less a bass. It was deemed "unladylike," though acoustic guitar was OK. Looking back on it, it was a pretty weird idea.
Glad to see that you're finally getting into Suzi Q. She first hit the charts with this song at the height of Glam rock and followed it up with a number of other glam tunes like "Devil Gate Drive" and " You're Mama Won't Like Me" all penned by the hit making duo of Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Later her sound would mellow a little and she'd record the classic rock ballads like "Stumblin' In" and my own favourite "The Race Is On". She also found time to appear as Leather Tuscadaro on "Happy Days" and, later, on the London stage as Annie Oakley in "Annie Get Your Gun". Suzi is ( she still appears occasionally e.g. Midsomer Murders) a very talented musician and actress.
Suzi still a star in Australia. Despite needing to travel half way round the world she has made 32 visits to Australia. Most number one hits were in Australia for her and virtually every single release of hers did best in Australia. Still sought after to be interviewed on Australian TV as the Queen of Glam Rock : th-cam.com/video/Wa9lH0-gIxQ/w-d-xo.html
My brother used to love suzi back in the 70s, I remember he had this kids guitar, and he’d go made when she came on Top of the pops. Love you two keep them coming.
Remember watching this on West German TV on the Disco program back in early 70ties, loved her leather and her playing the bass......Greeting from Danmark -making somebody smile..
Got to love that shuffle going on, from the off. Something indicative of early to mid 70's mainstream rock/pop. 'Devil Gate Drive', '48 Crash', and a slightly softer, 'If You Can't Give Me Love.' Mud with, 'Tiger Feet', is another example of that infectious driving beat.
I can't believe you have not reacted to the Pretenders on female Friday yet. Chrissie Hyndes has one of the greatest voices ever recorded. I would suggest "Stand By You, or Don't Get Me Wrong". Peace
Been requesting them for months! Can't believe they've done Like 10 Janis Joplin songs and haven't even reacted to the pretender's once. Nothing against Janis.
Suzi was enormous in Australia. On her first tour here in 1974 a gang of bikers gave her an escort from the airport to her hotel. She's still very popular here.
Suzi spent a lot of time in the UK. She appeared in several shows that I had the pleasure of working on. She was one of the sweetest ladies that I have ever worked with.
Suzi Quatro was huge in the British Isles in the early 70`s . I grew up in Ireland and she was massive and every song she released went to the top of the charts. She was tiny and usually dressed in a black leather jumpsuit and always pumping energy at 200% . Although she is American I think she was more popular on the other side of the Atlantic. A true 70`s icon.

I get excited every time someone discovers and loves Suzi. I’ve been on that bandwagon since the 70s. Suzuki opened for Alice Cooper for the original Welcome to my Nightmare tour. I hate she was never fully appreciated her here but the UK, Europe and Australia thankfully do. She said that there first time she did that scream live, it was unplanned but the reaction was so wild she kept it.
Ouch! I remember the impact of Suzi on the Glam Rock era here in UK. She was up there with the best! The "ouch" was because it reminds me how long ago I was 14 years old.
Been lucky enough to see Suzi Q live 4 times and she blows your face off everytime. She never disappoints. My Mum got hooked on her early in my Childhood 🤘🎸 Loving Female Friday reactions!!!
Suzi was NOT, in fact, "the start" or "the first" (as influential & impactful as she was!). The first all female band ever signed (there had been plenty of female vocalists and musicians before this, in most areas of popular music (Blues, Country, Jazz,...)👍👍) was, in fact, an outfit called: Goldie & The Gingerbreads (this was in 1962 or 1963). Goldie & The Gingerbreads was (of course) fronted by "Goldie" which was the nickname her mother chose for the Polish girl who had emigrated to the States after the War (that would be: WW II, fer you young'ins!😛👍👍🤪). She would, later, be known as: Genya Ravan (and if I remember correctly, her birth name is: Genyusha Zelkovicz (🤷)) ...so: known as Goldie Zelkovicz in Goldie & The Gingerbreads. Later using a "colloquial truncation" of her given name, to become: Genya Ravan, lead vocalist of Ten Wheel Drive and (arguably: "MOST" famously:) Producer of the DEAD BOYS debut album: Young, Loud & Snotty [legendary in its own right!]. Goldie & The Gingerbreads (besides Genya Ravan), also featured the underground-legendary guitarist/vocalist/song-writer: Carol MacDonald (she was the guitarist in Goldie & The Gingerbreads). Carol MacDonald (along with: Ginger Bianco (Panobianco)-the other founding member of Goldie & The Gingerbreads and the person to whom "Gingerbreads" alludes. 👍👍. Ginger is a drummer.) would, later, form the all-female funk-rock band: ISIS (The cover photo is the entire band, nude, covered in silver body paint! EXTREMELY salacious & boundary pushing, in the early '70s!!!!🤯😳). So: Goldie & The Gingerbreads, Ten Wheel Drive, Isis [1970s] all need your attention (especially if you are investigating "the history of female rockers"!)! I, also, would steer you towards the British band: Fanny ! [an UNBELIEVABLY rude name, for a female (or ANY!) artists, particularly in that time-frame! (If you know/understand British slang at all!) [Basically: It would have been the same as a U.S. band calling themselves: Pussy!] ...anyhow: All worth your time. There are MANY, MANY female artists whom you haven't even breathed in the direction of, yet! ...Arguably, some of the most important: The Runaways [the band which founded Lita Ford and Joan Jett's careers! (where they got their start!); Girlschool (all-girl '80s British Heavy Metal - They split an E.P. with MOTÖRHEAD, which is pretty legendary!🤘🤘 [MOTÖRHEAD!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌩️]) and: UNBELIEVABLY!!!!!, you have YET to hear: HEART?????! _The Wilson Sisters are as responsible as ANYONE for the Seattle rock scene and have been cranking out SUPERB music since the 1970s! [3 different bands, really: the original with: Ann, Nancy, Michael DeRosier, Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen and Howard Leese (then an "additional member"&multi-instrumentalist); the '80s version (with Howard Leese as the lead guitarist, Denny Carmassi (ex-Montrose !
ooh, was Suzi and her sisters' group playing before Goldie (not that Suzy was signed as such)? There was a smattering of female jazz players from the 1920s onwards, though most would concentrate on the Piano in different styles. For strong vocals I suppose Brenda Lee came over the strongest
Thanks guys. She was my introduction to Rock as a kid in the 70s. Still love her today... seen her about a dozen times live, and she still gigs today. The wild lady from Detroit ...go see her live while you still can! Not to be missed live. She is HUGE in Australia.
5 years ago, I finally got to see her in concert (bucket list). Loved when she told a sitting audience member to get their bunners up. She said if I am up on stage rocking at her age, then they should be standing up and jaming with her. Thank you soooo much for covering her. I saw her 2 weeks ago in London. Still going strong!
My idol! I love her every song. From Wild One Devil Gate Drive to her version of Desparado and the song she sings as a dedication to Elvis Singing With Angels. So many hits she is the Queen of Rock in my eyes
"Devil Gate Drive", "48 Crash", Little Bitch Blue", "The Wild One"
So many good songs. But my favorite is "Lipstick".
Now we're talking ! Suzi IS the queen of rock ! And she's still rocking...Suzi was the first female to enter the male dominated world of glam rock in the early 70s and this was her first hit in 1973...quick edit - forgot to say the next Suzi Quatro song you should react to is "The Wild One" a huge hit for her in 1974,as it was a huge year for glam rock with artists like Suzi,The Glitter Band,Mud,Alvin Stardust,Sweet,Slade, Rubettes,Bay City Rollers,Elton John,Barry Blue,Alice Cooper the list goes on
yes, please react to 'The Wild One' and 'Devil Gate Drive' next :)
And then went off to perform in the London Theatres.
Love love love Suzi. She’s in love with you and Stumbling in are my favourites
Definitely check out "Devil Gate Drive" 70's rock with a 50's vibe. This and "Stumblin In" are my favorite songs from her.
Love Devil Gate Drive!
I almost broke my mouse button hitting the link ! This is a true rock female, love her voice and talent ! Thanks for this :)
Great post!
Great recommendation❣️
Chrissie Hynde, fvck yeah.
Back in the chain gang, fvck yeah again.
Pretenders "Mystery Achievement" or anything of the debut album
I agree. Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders!
Quatro was from the US but only had major success outside the US, so she based herself in the UK
She only had one #1 in the US and that was a duet (with Chris Norman of the band "Smokie")
A lot of her hits, like Can the Can were written by an Australian Mike Chapman (but credited to Mike Chapman, Nicky Chinn (Chinn did the business side of the partnership))
Later Chapman wrote either solo, or with other people and he also produced albums such as Blondie's breakthrough album "Parallel Lines"
Champman's other hits for Quatro were "48 Crash", "Devil Gate Drive", and he wrote the duet (I mentioned above) "Stumblin In"
I saw Suzi from the front row pressed against the stage when she opened for Alice Cooper in 1975. She slayed.
Me too in Vancouver
@@billross5897 - Awesome!
Other songs of hers you should check out are:
Devil Gate Drive
48 Crash
Tear Me Apart
She's in Love with You
Wiser Than You
Two Miles Out of Georgia
I'll Walk Through the Fire with You
Quatro had a direct influence on the Runaways and Joan Jett as well as Girlschool and Chrissie Hynde.Musician Kathy Valentine, best known for her work as bass player for The Go-Go's, cited Quatro as a major influence in her 2020 autobiography All I Ever Wanted.
Girlschool - not too many people in the States know them!
And that's why it's a crying shame she has not been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
I think every lad back in the day had a crush on her , I certainly did.
She sure is a hot woman!
You should listen to the song your mama won't like me
@@debrashort2109 Yes! That was the very first song by her I heard.
Wendy's still rockin too
Check out Queen High Straight
Have not heard Suzi Quatro in years wow!! Thank you!!
Now there's a blast from the past, Legendary Suzi Quatro, other great songs of here's are
If you can't give me love
Devil Gate Drive
All awesome rock songs.😎🎸👌
Suzi was huge in Australia and the UK,
but was overlooked in the US...

As soon as I saw you post Suzi Quatro, I went *"YES, FINALLY!!"* 🤘😂
I remember her from the sitcom " Happy Days " where she played teen rocker " Leather Tuscadero " in several episodes.
Me too; she always seemed annoyed or embarrassed to be on the show.
Amazing!
Suzi Quatro came out first when Joan Jet was younger, and Joan Idolized her and wanted to be in a band and rock out like her!
I also get the feeling that she influenced Brix Smith too.
Suzi was the first woman I ever saw with an electric bass. It seemed bigger than she was!
Grew up listening to Suzy, had a huge crush on her she rocked 🤟
YES! YES! Suzi!! An icon to me from the age of 13! Awesome! Thank you so much for including her!
Still sought after to be interviewed on Australian TV as the Queen of Glam Rock :
th-cam.com/video/Wa9lH0-gIxQ/w-d-xo.html
have seen her three times....Australia paid her mortgage, I say that in a nice way, I love her....
Australians also kicked off Bee Gees , ABBA and Melissa Etheridge big time support
My brother used to love suzi back in the 70s, I remember he had this kids guitar, and he’d go made when she came on Top of the pops. Love you two keep them coming.
We love Suzi!! Give "Mama's Boy," "She's In Love With You," and "Lipstick" a listen. So many good tunes!
Remember watching this on West German TV on the Disco program back in early 70ties, loved her leather and her playing the bass......Greeting from Danmark -making somebody smile..
please, please watch the Suzi Quatro/Chris Norman duet "Stumbling in" I have watched that so many times. SO fun and so much chemistry between them.
Peace
"Brass in Pocket" and "Going Back to Ohio" are great choices also.
Been requesting them for months! Can't believe they've done Like 10 Janis Joplin songs and haven't even reacted to the pretender's once. Nothing against Janis.
I wonder if they are already fans...in which case they can't "react?"
@@canonfodder2068 that's possible I guess.
i go to sleep
Yesssssssssssss!!! This made my heart so happy this morning to see this posted!! 🥰😍🤩 Loved it! Happy weekend Jay and Amber!! 🌄🌻
She's "The Hammer From Hell." Suzi fans understand.
Or the white jumpsuit.
My first album on cassette was The Wild One by Suzi Quatro, purchased in 1975 and i still have it.What a great album and what a great artist.
FINALLY !!! Now you can see where Joan Jett came from. Suzi was the source. Joan was awesome too.
Ok you guys checked out the Us and the Uk....now check out some female rockers from Canada!
Headpins - Don't it make ya feel - Turn it out - Feel my Body - Just one more time

So glad I found your channel. Binged watched for 5 hrs a few nites ago and couldn’t go to work the next day. But NO regrets…I’m hooked❤️
Please listen to the following:
“Something About You” by Level 42
“Sailing” by Christopher Cross
“Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton
You have to send gifts to get anything played.
Aren't they great, been watching for a while...one of my favorite music reaction streams...look forward to their 3 videos a day. Take care happy Friday.
thank you for shining a light on Suzi Q coz hardly any reactors have reacted to her. She has been my fave singer since I was introduced to her music as a toddler lol. Please do more: devil gate drive, 48 crash, daytona demon, if you can't give me love, your mother won't like me.
Whenever you talk about Female Rockers, Suzy is right there at the top in my book! Just giving credit where credit is due!
HAHAHAHAHAA really
I get excited every time someone discovers and loves Suzi. I’ve been on that bandwagon since the 70s. Suzuki opened for Alice Cooper for the original Welcome to my Nightmare tour. I hate she was never fully appreciated her here but the UK, Europe and Australia thankfully do. She said that there first time she did that scream live, it was unplanned but the reaction was so wild she kept it.
That Suzi Quatro is not in the rock n roll hall of fame is a crime. She is very influential for women in rock.
Look how long it took for Jeff Healey ..
I agree in fact I just finish writing that sentiment before I read your comments
Ouch! I remember the impact of Suzi on the Glam Rock era here in UK. She was up there with the best! The "ouch" was because it reminds me how long ago I was 14 years old.
Indeed.. I'm 61 on the 20th this month. I suspect we're about the same age
LEGEND ..... SHE WAS ALSO PINKY TUSCADRO SISTER 9N HAPPY DAYS HER NAME WAS LEATHER TUSCADARO
You keep saying "she WAS"!
Let me tell you, she's STILL performing, even in her 70's!!...............& she's rocking as much as ever!! 😲
Yep, saw her gig in London 2 weeks ago 🤘😁
Love Suzi, she's always been a rocker. And she plays bass. She belongs in the RHOF.
I remember her doing "Devil Gate Drive" on Happy Days.....(telling my age😁)
Alright now this is a good way to end Female Friday see you guy’s on the next one 🙋🏻♀️ 💕
Been lucky enough to see Suzi Q live 4 times and she blows your face off everytime. She never disappoints. My Mum got hooked on her early in my Childhood 🤘🎸 Loving Female Friday reactions!!!
One of Joan Jett’s biggest influences. Music and fashion.
Huge over here in the UK,this is from top of the pops.we made her a star,USA never got her, until she was on the tv show Happy days.
Suzi was NOT, in fact, "the start" or "the first" (as influential & impactful as she was!).
The first all female band ever signed (there had been plenty of female vocalists and musicians before this, in most areas of popular music (Blues, Country, Jazz,...)👍👍) was, in fact, an outfit called: Goldie & The Gingerbreads
(this was in 1962 or 1963).
👍👍. Ginger is a drummer.) would, later, form the all-female funk-rock band: ISIS
(The cover photo is the entire band, nude, covered in silver body paint! EXTREMELY salacious & boundary pushing, in the early '70s!!!!🤯😳).
So: Goldie & The Gingerbreads,
Ten Wheel Drive, Isis [1970s]
all need your attention (especially if you are investigating "the history of female rockers"!)!
I, also, would steer you towards the British band: Fanny !
[an UNBELIEVABLY rude name, for a female (or ANY!) artists, particularly in that time-frame! (If you know/understand British slang at all!)
[Basically: It would have been the same as a U.S. band calling themselves: Pussy!]
...anyhow: All worth your time.
There are MANY, MANY female artists whom you haven't even breathed in the direction of, yet!
...Arguably, some of the most important: The Runaways [the band which founded Lita Ford and Joan Jett's careers! (where they got their start!); Girlschool (all-girl '80s British Heavy Metal - They split an E.P. with MOTÖRHEAD, which is pretty legendary!🤘🤘
[MOTÖRHEAD!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌩️])
and: UNBELIEVABLY!!!!!, you have YET to hear: HEART?????!
Although Suzy was American , much of her success was in the UK with several hits like this.
she's still alive and kicking at 71 years old LOL
There aren't many advantages to being old, but the main one was being around when singers like Suzi, singing songs like this hit the charts.
Suzi was Joan Jett's idol - just a few years before Jett it it big with The Runaways.
5 years ago, I finally got to see her in concert (bucket list). Loved when she told a sitting audience member to get their bunners up. She said if I am up on stage rocking at her age, then they should be standing up and jaming with her. Thank you soooo much for covering her. One of her songs (wild one) was used for a USA car commercial. She sure is my influence.
First seen Suzi on happy days she was way cooler than the Fonz✌
Me encantó ,la primera vez que la escuché,¡¡¡¡ooohh que bueno una mujer con esa musica en esa epoca!!! ..la adore,Europa enteta la adoro

Her famous quote is" I will retire when I go on stage and shake my ass and there is silence" . She has been a rocker for 50 years. At this time she is 71 yrs. old.
Go Suzie !!!
Really need more Lita Ford!!!!

Thanks for doing this one! I sent the link to this (probably I was one of many!). Suzi is a genuine legend.
P.s. I love cereals too but we don't get that one in the Uk!
You should do Devil Gate Drive, it’s my favourite song of hers.
She was my hero musically when i was 10 my girl power moment. She lives here and works on BBC radio!
“The Wild One” and “48 Crash” next. For another chick that rocks try The Distillers 🛎 “City of Angels” or “The Young Crazed Feeling” a punk band fronted by a kick ass woman.
So many have mentioned these 2- Rock Hard and Stumblin In-Suzi rocking and Suzi doing pop.
Loved this?! If you don’t hear ‘devil gate drive’ by Suzi you are missing a bit of female rock history. Do yourself a favour...
Susie Quatro was in the 1970’s England glam rock scene along with Sweet and Gary Glitter among others. The drums and hand claps were the glam sound. My favorite songs are “Devil Gate Drive”, “Rock Hard” and “She’s In Love With You”. She also did some acting, she was on the show “Happy Days “ as Leather Tuscadero
Leather Tuscadero
Finally one of my all time music heroes, Devil Gate Drive, She's in Love You, If You Can't Give Me Love, to name but a few of the best from Suzi Q 😉
Devil gate drive !!!!
Queen of Rock.....and a big part of my musical youth,,,
Suzi on that bass and screaming out ,Yes! Devil Gate Drive is another great one.
One of the greatest rock n rollers EVER!
Check out The Light of Love by her first band The Pleasure Seekers - an all-girl band Suzi had with her sisters. Great, unsung Motown-style rocker.
Another good girl rocker! Hadn't heard Suzi for a while!
