Great video, thanks for the talk Joe! I started my bundle business 2+ years ago and your advice has definitely helped me along.
At your next open house reach out to pellet mill mfg stockpile sawdust/yard waste even take in tree service chips and make bagged pellets during the event. Feeder to hammermill to pellet press to storage and bagging. Lots of pellet grill and boilers with hoppers to fill. Hardwood smoking pellets. Great way to make heat in the winter.
I had started looking into that but the mills were all 3 phase electricity. I don't think I want to pay for that service just now. Need more time to think it over

Hi Joe. Another great video of common sense advice for firewood entrepreneurs. I advise people to start small and focus on quality of product, and the highest quality of service. Staying small is usually a more profitable business plan than trying to be huge. Just get started!!
I think there is some truth to that Pete. I do think you need to build your customer base and delivery model. People seem to worry too much about what splitter, saw etc.

Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Ive never seen bundles for sale over here. The closest thing is onion nets of neatly cut & split logs sold in some supermarkets. Hi come you have demoted your Chief Videographer to General Goffer - could it be jealously of her superior camea skills!

Growing up in a family owned grocery we were open seven days a week. I remember that when Dad decided to close on Sunday afternoon but beings we lived next door to the store, we often had people knocking on the door needing something to get the dinner made...

Very nice. I always put the last stick of wood on top of the plastic before starting the wrap. That way I don't have to hold it in place by hand.
I just push it down until the arm swings past. Sometimes it snatches my glove LOL

My prices are all over the place. The range is $4 to $10. Depends on if they are wholesale or retail or delivered.

30 years ago I was selling some wood and it was going for 35 bucks a rick. Then I found that apartments would pay more for less lol. I would stack wood on my tailgate 1/4 of a rick and just sit by the gate. People would stop and ask how and it was 25 for what u see stacked up. Man they thought they was getting a heck of a deal since most of them was getting those bundles. The colder it got the more I charged lol I think I got 40 for a lot of wood that year
Nice post Randy. That is the heart of my business model. I avoid the people who heat with wood and go for the people who just want a little bit. The mark up is much better to making profit
Joe, if you hire a student to make bundles…you would still make a profit on the bundle.

How about using your labels with ads for local restaurants and have the restaurants pay for your labels? Maybe even offer a discount. Emily needs to start running the processor!!

People who buy bundles of wood at the grocery store tend not to be the type that buys wood by the cord to heat their home......so the lack of labels is a moot point
"labels" as an advertising opportunity maybe. They are required in some instances bc of laws or bc the vendor's preference

I am no longer recommending Twisters for the very reason you say. I don't know what is happening there but the lady i was working with left the company. I will be showing a new wrapper in the near future. The Twister is a very good machine but there is poor response from the company.

Like for one thing it can take up to a year(or more) just to get Equipment because of long wait times. That makes me worry that everybody and their uncle is getting into the Firewood Business...I'm betting that you don't have to wait years just to get your equipment....Again, Not meant to be an insult just A reality check....
You're implying Joe is somehow misleading people, @@kwebber9248. That's definitely not the case. Every business, whether it is a lemonade stand or a firewood business has lots of issues it must deal with. Equipment, supply, weather, bum customers, accidents, etc., etc. Joe has said many times that the only way you'll know is to get started, learn and figure out where you need to go. In this video, he said don't quit your day job -- start small. And he has been a model of that. He's not promising anything, but encouraging others to pursue their idea with action and integrity.

For me the majority of the MAJOR machines you see on my channel have been purchased by me...The Twister from this vid, the Japa 405, the Bobcat CT2040 etc. I am always looking for a partnership but they have to make sense to my channel and I refuse to submit my vid for approval...my review is my opinion.
Joe, can you get part time help by bartering for a share? Maybe a percentage of what gets produced so it's going to increase revenue with no change to cash flow out.

Joe, it seems to me it will be easier in the future to use the square or almost square wood splits you make off of the Eastonmade Axis for bundle wood. Less like figuring out putting puzzle pieces together with those angled splits you were using in this video..
i guess square is easier to work with but not all of them are square. Seems there is always one that gives you probs

5:03 - I can't help thinking, that big nut ought to be a star knob, with a through hole, so it has a handle. Especially if people with smaller hands and less grip strength are going to use it frequently... Might need a slightly shorter spring so you can get it on the thread, though...🤔👍🇦🇺🪓
