Hey Jess! I enjoyed seeing the build pictures. Have you considered digging your beds deeper and having active composting to add winter heat? (Like lasagna or trench composting or something.) We got something similar to work with our chicken coop where we used deep litter composting (1-2ft deep of leaves and pine needles cuz that's what we had + chicken poop), and it kept the coop temperatures more stable. Then we cleaned it out for the outdoor spring garden or compost pile and put in whatever worked best for a summer floor. I'm pretty sure others have tried active compost in greenhouses to generate winter heat, so should be literature somewhere. Thanks again for sharing your process!😊

Hey Nik! I haven’t tried active composting nor making a hotbed in the greenhouse yet - although I’ve done a lot of reading about them. Most literature wants livestock manure of some kind in the mix and it’s not something I have on site right now. I bet the heat of decomposition from composting plant and food waste would also generate heat - I just haven’t tried it yet! It’s a great idea and I’m so glad it helped in your coop!
