I too have wondered where Porthos would pee and poop in the ship. And what happens when the ship is in combat and gets shaken about? Does it scare Porthos and make him pee on the floor?
Here's my question. If any of you who are watching this video now, could be a member of Starfleet and serve under one of these 5 captains, who would it be? This doesn't necessarily mean 'who is your favourite captain?'. It just means who you think you would prefer to work with. Also, assume that you would be working with the other common crew members normally seen with those captains. As much as I would love to serve with Picard and Data (etc) I have no doubt that Voyager would be the place for me. Those are the people I would want to be with most...
Hmmmm... Well, if I had to answer the question in terms of the best situations overall in which to serve under those captains, I would have to rank them in this order according to the era/setting/situations of the series (in order of preference)... 1) Captain Kirk: Lots of adventure without the end-of-everything-in-the-universe-if-we-mess-up pressure! Wouldn't want to be a "red-shirted security" crew member, though... (Note: Had the coolest crew!) 2) Captain Archer: This "dawn of the federation" era, while challenging, was in my opinion the less "Armageddon-ish" than Voyager, DS9, or TNG... (Note: An okay series but in all honesty, my least favorite) 3) Captain Picard: A lot of adventure but also some serious "end of the world as we know it" storylines that would mean a LOT of stress and unpleasantry... (Note: Wonderful series at the dawn of really good special effects; the writers really started to push the envelop and get it done VERY well) 4) Captain Sisko: A time of war between the Federation and the Klingons vs. the Dominion, Romulans, et al. A very dark period. And to be at the edge of Fed space at DS9 would have been quite dangerous and rather challenging... (Note: I loved the DS9 series, my favorite overall from the characters, story, setting, intergalactic intrigue, and I friggin' LOVED GARAK! This show benefited from years of refined CGI and story telling in the Star Trek universe; but *I HATED* how it ended...) 5) Captain Janeway: Holy crap this was a bad situation from the start!!! To be placed in that situation without any friends or allies around and having to feel your way around uncharted space with enemies and unknowns all around would totally suck - definitely the worst situation/setting to serve under (IMHO)... (Note: Pretty dark, brutal story telling! Loved the edge of this series but I was always left thinking, "Holy CRAP this is a bad scenario to be in...") Just my 2 cents worth...
Kirk - you wouldn't last 1 away party. Picard - ship, crew and captain yep. Plus you could intercede in that episode and try to get Q as a human be allowed to be a member of the crew. DS9 - depressing, not enough holodeck time. You could just relive DS9 episodes on the holodeck when your in the mood for moody. Voyager - choice number 2, good crew, exciting situation, captain can be annoying. Enterprise - meh.
Yea, I wish they continued it, granted it started off slow, but it really picked up the pace with seasons 2 and 3, and it got into that whole deal with how the Romulan/Federation War being just around the the corner at the end of the 4th season. If they had continued I heard, Trip would have lived and they would have had a kickass war with tons of battles.
No posthumous mention of Jeffrey Hunter? Not good. There would no Captain Kirk had Jeffrey Hunter's wife seen the light and agreed to do the second pilot.

1) Captain Kirk: Lots of adventure without the end-of-everything-in-the-universe-if-we-mess-up pressure! Wouldn't want to be a "red-shirted security" crew member, though... (Note: Had the coolest crew!)
2) Captain Archer: This "dawn of the federation" era, while challenging, was in my opinion the less "Armageddon-ish" than Voyager, DS9, or TNG... (Note: An okay series but in all honesty, my least favorite)
3) Captain Picard: A lot of adventure but also some serious "end of the world as we know it" storylines that would mean a LOT of stress and unpleasantry... (Note: Wonderful series at the dawn of really good special effects; the writers really started to push the envelop and get it done VERY well)
4) Captain Sisko: A time of war between the Federation and the Klingons vs. the Dominion, Romulans, et al. A very dark period. And to be at the edge of Fed space at DS9 would have been quite dangerous and rather challenging... (Note: I loved the DS9 series, my favorite overall from the characters, story, setting, intergalactic intrigue, and I friggin' LOVED GARAK! This show benefited from years of refined CGI and story telling in the Star Trek universe; but *I HATED* how it ended...)
5) Captain Janeway: Holy crap this was a bad situation from the start!!! To be placed in that situation without any friends or allies around and having to feel your way around uncharted space with enemies and unknowns all around would totally suck - definitely the worst situation/setting to serve under (IMHO)... (Note: Pretty dark, brutal story telling! Loved the edge of this series but I was always left thinking, "Holy CRAP this is a bad scenario to be in...")
Just my 2 cents worth...
Voyager definitely
I was there, it was incredible except for the background noise reverberating around the whole hall!
Loved it thanks I need to attend one of these still
Avery Sounds like a emissary of prophets (Pun!), very philosophical great captain and actor.
Thank you for posting this.
This was the only thing missing from Assimilation.
No posthumous mention of Jeffrey Hunter? Not good. There would no Captain Kirk had Jeffrey Hunter's wife seen the light and agreed to do the second pilot.
LMAO THIS IS GREAT! ALL THE CAPS!! IM HAVING A NERDGASM!!!!
Are Trek convention hosts usually of John Barrowman's caliber? I was surprised by how many non-UK attendees there seemed to be--or at least those who didn't have British accents.
The one big thing from Star Trek I remember is Transparent Aluminum and we laughed our asses at that, well they have it today.
I only watched it because of John - and he is worth it! He is so funny and naughty, I love him! Laughed so hard at the bit with Scott Bakula "let me change this for you" :-)
We didn't spend time with him as a captain in any series. He was there for a pilot and for a couple of cameos.
I want more new star trek episodes made.
Yeah I'd like to see a new series set after TNG/Voyager/DS9. It's been a few years now!
