  • NEW SHOW here and we didn't expect any less! 😱
    This was so intense, hard to watch for moments 😖 sad and interesting! We love the acting, the effects and the characters 😮
    The Queen's death was so traumatizing! 😭 Daemon is really scary and we fear for the King... we feel so bad for Rhaenyra and Alicent too 😓
    Thank you so much for watching, we hope you enjoy it and have a great day, love you! 💖

    This was a pleasant surprise seeing the two of you reacting to this. I just didn’t think you guys would like this type of genre. 😊Great reaction! 🥰

      We are huge fans of fantasy, not so much of violence. Probably that's why we hadn't seen it before, it was perfect to react to 🤗 Thank you so much for all your support 💖

    Book fan here! I don't like the original show much but I LOVE this one, it feels much more like the books to me. Love this reaction too y'all are sharp and I like that you paused to discuss the different viewpoints in Aemma's death, or the symbolism of the throne cutting Viserys. Subbed can't wait for more

      So far I also like this show more than the original, but it just got started, we'll see what happens in the future 😁

    Great reaction! Thank you first for just getting past the marriages among the Targaryens. George RR Martin based much of this show and GoT on customs in Medieval Europe or the Ancient Near East. Those kinds of marriages were common among the royal families - although not the regular people - in the ancient Near East. Also, even cousin marriages have been common among European royals even until very recently. It’s impossible to enjoy these shows if one can’t just accept the historical references and move on. So many reactors insist on telling us how gross they find it. Every. Single. Episode. Yes, ok. We get it. But it’s how many royal families operated in ancient civilizations.

    • @scarymonsterrs
      @scarymonsterrs หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You could probably even say it was the practice among most royal families, definitely in Europe you've got some crazy intertwined bloodlines...

    • @NerdishReact
      @NerdishReact  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, it was normal not so long ago in real life, so we have to watch this with that filter on. It's not weird at all for the time it recreates 😅 We're glad you agree 👍🏻

    It was never normal for siblings or uncle/niece to be married in royal families. It was normally cousin marriages.
    There were a few royal dynasties that married brother to sister like the Ptolymeys and Selecuids but it was never the norm.
    The Targaryens have practiced incest because it's somethint their race, the Valyrians did, to maintain their dragonriding blood and keep it strong.
    Viserys is married to his first cousin, Aemma. Aemma is half Targaryen through her mother.
    Viserys and Daemon's parents were brother and sister as were their grandparents.
    The Queen Who Never Was title is not an insult but a praise. It's a way for people to show she should have been queen basically. Princess Rhaenys, the Queen Who Never Was, is half Baratheon through her mother. The Baratheons wanted Rhaenys to be queen.

      The inbreeding makes sense when you put it in retrospective. Controlling dragons is pretty cool 😅

    Just as a bit of context, the book this is based off of, Fire and Blood, is an in-universe history book piecing together the events that occurred in this time period, based on multiple testimonies of people who lived throught it, of which many are true, while others conflicting and not always reliable. For example some are remembered and described as heroes by some, while horrible and villainous by others.
    Anyway, I'm really excited to see your reactions to rest of it!

    23:45 Dorne is one of the Seven Kingdoms of the continent of Westeros. While there seems to be prejudices from most regions to one another, but Dorne seems to be mentioned way more often and that could be both because most of them look more different than the others (more on the brown skin side), and because they have more distinct customs (they're more liberal towards sex and less strict about religious customs).
    Also, according to the author:
    _"...I suppose the closest real life equivilent to that would be the Moorish influence in parts of Spain. So you could say Dorne is Wales mixed with Spain and Palestine with some entirely imaginary influences mixed in."_

    • @annarita333
      @annarita333 หลายเดือนก่อน

      During the timeline of the series, Dorne is not yet part of the Seven Kingdoms. They are still fighting against Targaryen rule.

    I'm so excited to see your reactions to this story! And thank god that y'all are already warned about the incest in this family😂 and an important detail is that the connection of the Targaryens with the dragons is in the blood, and that's another reason why they try to keep the lineage as pure as possible

    As always like most reactors you did not understand what the maester said, it was either both die or at least try to save the child, Queen Aemma was going to die in any case.

    • @NerdishReact
      @NerdishReact  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We did understand, we even talked about it in the end of the video. We said that actually in a way it was merciful to end her life quicker because she was going to die anyways, but it was gruesome nevertheless. What Shuni meant by "leave it to the Gods" was basically just to let it run its natural course, even if they both died, but upon further talk about all of it, we both agreed it was what he should have done.

  • @kellyanimegirl

    Aemma was going to die anyway, so it was their attempt to save the child as well.

    I can't say much but hopefully you'll both have an easier time with HoTD. The story being more streamlined should help getting into it without being overwhelmed like GoT can be.

    • @NerdishReact

      You were the first to guess! You earned the mention haha
      So far, we feel like this story is so much more concentrated than GoT so it's easier to follow as well. Got had so many different settings it was a bit overwhelming as you say.
